Special jacket made with Italian silk for officiating a friend's wedding ceremony.
    Dan S.

Joe and Gino helped me make a custom jacket for a wedding that I was officiating for a close friend. I wanted something flamboyant with a fabric that was different and also purple (just a notion I had). Joe advised I look for fabric at Britex in the city for something different than what was available in the sample books they have. I found some Italian silk that was pricey but worth the occasion. It took about two months to make and I wore it; it went over swimmingly at the ceremony. People loved the cut and design and asked where I got it made. This was the second jacket I had made there. The first one was more conventional and I wear it to work. The selection process is pretty fun since you choose the buttons, lapel, cut, liner and the flip-inside collar color, and also custom embroidery in two discreet places. I think it's worth a try if you've never worn made-to-measure suits and definitely the place to design clothes for weddings and special events. Ask for Joe.

I had all but given up on the chance that SF would one day be able to lure boutique men's fashion shops into the city. Wingtip was able to deliver an amazing store with incredible interior decor and detail but their offerings came up short. Alas! Klien Epstein & Parker to the rescue! You would expect a store like this to be in SoHo in Manhattan - not in SF. If you want Birkenstocks or a Northface jacket there are 10,000 places in SF for that but finding quality men's fashion with color, style and spunk is harder than trying to get a reservation at State Bird Provisions. I must warn you, once you step in and examine there clothing and options, you will never be the same. You can customize suit buttons, stitching on the button holes, inside collar lining, elbow pads, and inside coat lining!!! Their inventory of ties, bow-ties and pocket-squares are pretty solid as well. Given that this is their 3rd location (other 2 are in LA/OC), the inventory is not online just yet (in terms of viewing info, colors, patterns, etc) but I imagine over time that will change. Although their store is small, you should budget quite a bit of time to examine all the options in the swatch-books.

Hip male professionals -- rejoice! The third branch of the funky SoCal made-to-measure tailors, Klein Epstein & Parker, has arrived! It's their first franchise in Northern California and also the first shop to open in the new 300 Ivy building -- Hayes Valley just got even cooler! The shop has a vintage vibe that matches their stylish brand. This is the place to go if you want to stand out from the conventional suit-wearing crowd; K.E.P.'s suits are unique, fashionable and fun. It's got a hefty price tag, but you can customize your suit to match your personality -- from the color, fabric, buttons, threading and embroidery. Definitely worth considering for that special occasion...

We came in to get my husband a new suit for an up coming very SoCal wedding and future suit type events. We ended up with a tux and a suit and couldn't be happier. The whole experience of picking out the materials was really fun. The owners and staff were so accommodating, friendly, and gracious. They bent over backwards to help accommodate our needs. We couldn't have asked for better service! We're both UX designers and from our vantage point it was very apparent the time and attention that went into crafting this business: from beautiful quality fabrics to the personal attention paid to us while we made decisions about everything from the button hole stitching to the fabric to lining on the coat. After the suit was ordered we were emailed by the staff, which was a nice touch. It's nice to feel like we were still apart of the process even after we left the store. The best part was the quality of the tux, shirt and tailoring. My husband is tall and skinny, but he's got broad shoulders and things rarely fit him (sleeves are too short, torso of the shirt is too big, back of the shirt rides up above his pants when he bends over). The staff and owners spent extra time during the fitting to show us how each decision to pin would sit so that we had a better idea of what we were buying. When we went back to pick up the tux I was so floored at how a suit could transform the man I love so much. My husband is a pretty thoughtful dresser, but oh man did he look hot in that tux. I wish he had more reasons to wear it. We're both looking forward to seeing the suit when it's finished. I'm also looking forward to getting a jacket made for me. Finding someone who will make a tailored jacket for a woman is thrilling!

I went here for a suit for my wedding and had a great experience. Waiton was friendly, helpful, knowledgeable and made the process painless--all I had to do was show up and make a few decisions about fabric. There was a little hiccup with the suit not fitting right a few weeks before the wedding and they handled it like champs and I had my suit two days before my wedding and it fit great! Exemplary quality and service, I would highly recommend K.E.P to anyone looking to get a truly one of a kind suit.

Waiton was incredible! I had a marvelous and enchanting experience with him getting my first custom suit! It was made to measure and was completely custom! I loved it! Now it's time to wait till it arrives!

We booked an appointment well in advance, arrived on time, and somehow still ended up waiting 45 minutes before the fitting even began. Already, that was incredibly frustrating. When our stylist finally started helping us, we explained what we were looking for, but from the beginning, we never really felt like we were being heard. She didn't seem particularly knowledgeable about what to recommend based on what we were looking for. We came in expecting some level of expertise, someone who could walk us through different fits and options and help my dad find something that worked for him. Instead, it felt like we were largely figuring things out ourselves. Eventually, we landed on a suit my dad liked, and the stylist had him try on one of their sample suits in his size range as part of the made-to-measure process. Naturally, we understood that a try-on sample wasn't going to fit him perfectly. And there was one particular area where the fit was noticeably off, so we asked whether that was something that could be adjusted or tailored when making the final suit. She simply told us no. And then, rather than suggesting another size, another cut, a different suit, or literally doing anything you would expect from someone whose job is to help customers find a suit, she told us that if this wasn't working, then maybe we should just go somewhere else. We honestly could not believe what we were hearing. What kind of sales associate tells a customer to go shop somewhere else simply because the first suit they like doesn't fit properly? At a store specializing in suits and tailoring, no less? We weren't being difficult. We weren't demanding anything unreasonable. We were asking whether a suit could be altered, and instead of helping us find a solution, we were essentially told to take our business elsewhere. That alone would have been enough to make this an awful experience, but the lack of service continued throughout the appointment. When our fitting began, the stylist could barely give us the time of day. She was distracted helping another customer and repeatedly disappeared while we were supposed to be in the middle of our appointment. We were left standing around waiting for her to come back with no explanation and no idea where she had gone. And what makes me particularly upset is that this was my dad shopping for the suit he would wear to my wedding. My mom and I came with him because this was supposed to be a fun, memorable experience for the three of us. Instead, we spent the appointment waiting around, struggling to get anyone's attention, receiving almost no meaningful guidance, and then being told that perhaps we should just shop somewhere else. I've worked with and shopped at plenty of retailers, and I understand that stores get busy. I understand that associates sometimes have to juggle multiple customers. But there is a huge difference between being busy and making someone with a scheduled appointment feel like an inconvenience. If you're running 45 minutes behind, acknowledge it. If you need to step away to help another customer, communicate that. If a suit doesn't fit, use your expertise to recommend another option. You don't tell the customer to go somewhere else. The complete lack of care, attentiveness, professionalism, and basic hospitality was astounding. We walked in ready and willing to purchase a suit for one of the most important occasions in our family, and somehow SuitSupply managed to make us feel as though they couldn't care less whether we were there. So we took the stylist's advice: we went somewhere else. And after this experience, I have absolutely no desire to ever come back.

He had some ideas in mind and so I started the search online. Only a few stores got back to me, and fewer still were able to do what we were looking for, and Knot Standard was one of them. There was a small hiccup in our initial experience - when trying to book online, the confirmed appointment time didn't match what was actually requested (tried more than once and it was always off by an hour). In the end, it was easy enough to email the consultant (Maggie) to fix the issue. We met with Maggie a few times over a few months. The initial meeting was getting an idea of what Knot Standard offers, prices, timelines, etc. Throughout the meeting, we felt informed but didn't feel overwhelmed (for the most part) nor pressured to continue the process if it turned out not to be what we needed. The following meetings were consultations + advice, measurements, fittings, and any adjustments. Maggie is very experienced and was able to answer our million questions! In the end, he chose a blue-ish purple fabric (from Italy IIRC) for a 3-piece tux. We were even able to bring a piece of home with us to our destination wedding via a hidden embroidery of our cats on his inner pocket. He also bought some custom-fitted dress shirts. Pickup was a breeze and included a couple garment bags and a pocket kerchief.

After returning to the office and needing a complete wardrobe refresher, I found Knot Standard during tailored made suit searches. I'm making an appointment was very easy to do online. Maggie was our sales rep and she moved at lightening speed making recommendation of patterns, styles, and textiles. After just a quick 45 minutes, we purchased 3 suits, 2 jackets, and 2 dress shirts. The total was roughly $14k for all of this. Unfortunately one of the suit fabric was out of stock but a close substitute was made. About 6 weeks later, I followed up on the arrival of the clothing and scheduled an appointment for the fitting. During the fitting, my husband and I were shocked that everything fit him perfectly without needing any adjustments. He said the clothes fit him so well, they felt like they were clipped on him like a Lego piece. He was so happy with the look and fit of the clothing, he purchased another suit. Additional Comment-The unfortunate part of my experience is you must be the one to follow up with your suit's arrival. Your sales rep-at least in my experiences-never was the one to call or email me saying the orders where in. Every time, I have had to email the sales rep and when she didn't respond, email the company and they have never responded. So, if you want your orders, it is all up to you to follow up.
