I don't recommend KLM Pool Services, and here's why. It was frustrating just trying to schedule service. I had to call three separate times to get an appointment because no one returned my calls. There were also no-shows, and each time I had to be the one to follow up to find out what was going on. Even wasted two days off to be home for the appointments. Communication was very poor throughout the process. There were no proactive calls or messages to confirm appointments, let me know they were on the way, or even notify me if they were running late. Based on my experience, customer service and communication need significant improvement. Went with ole reliable Burketts! read more

Purchased a pool filter and pump last October. the installer left without an orientation on how to use the system.The installer left without telling me he was finished and didn't leave the owners manual. when I spoke to the company, they told me that I could probably download the manual online. I am someone who learns by demonstration. I called them this past May to schedule someone to come give me a lesson on its use and care. I went through this 3 times. i made appointments and the technician would just not show up. when I called the company, they said they would contact the technician and call me back to reschedule. they never called back. I had to call and make another appointment. Again, he was a no show, no call. He never contacted me to explain why he didn't show up, I went through this three times. I Finally gave up and had to call another company to have someone come out. They certainly get an "F" for customer service!! read more

Customer Service and communication are horrible. We had had issues with our pool pump and called KLM for assistance. After finally being able to get an appointment, we are told that they don't have the parts and they'll have to come back. They say their office will schedule an appointment when the parts come in. Did we get a call? No. We had to call multiple times for follow up. Eventually we asked about getting an upgraded pool heater... Everything was great while we were showing interest in spending money. Make a call and someone was dispatched to the house to make sure we had everything taken care of. Kevin was knowledgeable and obviously had a lot of experience. Lance helped a few times and even though he wasn't a great communicator, we figured as long as the work was done right, everything was fine. Last summer we spent thousands of dollars getting a new heater installed. It's the largest available because of the size of our pool (just for a cost estimate to keep in mind). This summer we go to turn on the heater and it won't turn on. We called KLM and after being asked if we already have a regular service with them and saying we didn't, we are told we would get a call back since it was the weekend... did we get a callback? No. Tuesday we call and are again told we would get a callback. Did we? Of course not. After finally making 5 calls during the week we are out on hold to speak to someone. So basically customer service is at its best as long as you're going to be spending money. If you aren't a regular customer and don't show interest in upgrading pool equipment, you're most likely not going to get the customer service you deserve. I put a lot of faith in Kevin because he seemed to be a no-nonsense person who would treat customers how he would expect to be treated if he had issues with his own equipment. I can't help but feel completely duped. If Lance comes out and tells you that they'll call back for a follow up, THEY WONT. You have to call this company multiple times to even get acknowledged that you need help. Unfortunately for the residents in this area, there aren't too many pool companies to choose from. I'm curious how they even got such a high review on yelp in the first place. Needless to say we won't be wasting anymore calls for their "service". read more

I don't think there is any better service than what I received from Kevin at KLM! The issue was my filter gauge which appeared to be working sporadically. Kevin solved my problem and took the time to educate me. A+ Customer service! His team also did an excellent job recently installing my new filter. KLM is the only company I use for my pool issues. The pool services were great during the previous owners (Fremont Pool). But slowly turned over the coarse of eleven years to be absolutely terrible. I've found their repair costs are high compared to others and scheduled services awful. When my wife attempted to express her concerns of the lack of the previously contracted services the owner was harsh and acted like a bully. After the installation of security cameras we found that they show up irregularly and for less than three minutes. When they do they don't service the equipment, don't check the chemical levels nor add chemicals. Out of frustration of having a green pool while paying for a pool service I was forced to solicit the services of a new service company. The new company found no chlorine and a complete imbalance of chemicals. It has taken them nearly three months to get the pool back in shape. Requiring weekly metal brushing of the walls to eliminate the algae in addition to aggressive chemicals. The employees are always helpful with pool chemical suggestions and repairs. Last year they came out to check out our main pool pump, that we thought was on it's last leg. After less than a half hour he had it up and running. It is still going strong today. Last month we had them come out to replace our Polaris pump of 10+ years. The Polaris is better than it has been. We have used KLM since we first bought our place here in Tracy almost 5 years ago. They've recently raised their prices, which is not a problem at all, and completely understandable given the current economic climate. The problem comes in with that this price raise has also comes with a reduction in services. If the change in what their service entails had been communicated when the rate increase was, we could have gone from there. Unfortunately, their service lasts less than 5 minutes, and the value just is not there any longer for us. read more

Kevin, owner of KLM Pools, is the best. I needed to convert a two pump system to a variable pump setup. Kevin gave me the choice of settling for a pump replacement or his recommendation of a complete changeover. Took his suggestion and couldn't be happier. As you can see from photos, his suggestion eliminated a lot of piping (have solar and waterfall) and an inefficient filter system. I now have less maintenance worry and more time to enjoy my pool. When I first signed up with this company I had issues with them billing but not coming out to clean the pool and the pool was not cleaned. I spoke to the manager and he assigned someone new to my home. I gave them a second chance, worst decision I made. Service was ok for few months. However, the last two months my pool has been green. My pool is newly built (2 years) this issue was not addressed to me. When I noticed it I contacted them, the next couple weeks the pool looked the same. I have service every Friday, I pay them to sweep the sides and the stairs, they did not do it. I called them never received a call back. When I emailed for refund, they responded I would get a partial payment, I responded with the issues I have had and no response. Do not use this company, they rush their cleaning as I have camera in my backyard indicating the same. I will have to pay someone to fix what I paid them to do. I intend on pursuing further action. I finally got a house with a pool, and since I didn't know anything about pools I looked for a company that can inspect the pool. Pool inspector recommended KLM for servicing the pool, as well as my neighbor recommended them. So I called, and got everything fixed. That was in December needless to say it's still green yet they told property management that it was cleaned and clear. Not true! We told them we wanted to start monthly service but the service worker told us he could do chemicals only Then the story was that the owner doesn't want to take on a green pool. I purchased a home in Tracy a few months ago. The previous owners recommended KLM. I should have known what the ultimate outcome would be when they said they were only accepting chemical service contracts. I hired them and what a disappointment. They said they came to service my pool and never showed up. They insisted they did however I kept my gate locked and they never knocked on my door. The second month they decided to provide a service log. Even though there were weeks missed on the log, they insisted my pool was serviced and i still had to pay. This place is a fraud and they lie. Long story. But the short story is stay away!!! They have cost us at least $5,000!!! We used them to do the pool inspection on the house we bought in March 2015. They were recommended to us by our agents. Report came back saying a light was out, the blower was broken, and there were two cracks-one in the spa and one in the pool that seemed cosmetic in nature. We did have the sellers install a new blower which saved us probably $500. However about 2 months after moving in my husband called to have them come look at the pump- he thought was a lot of excessive water that was squirting out. The technician comes and looks at the pump and says it has been glued/cemented together and was unable to be repaired. There was no way to open it. My husband pointed out that no one commented on this on the inspection report and he got a mumbling response about how "I guess they didn't see it." Then another month goes by and we have them come out to see why the pool was having a hard time staying clean despite our tending to it weekly. They came and looked at our filter/cartridges and said they were "probably 10 years old and only meant to last 5 years." I pulled up the inspection report and it said the "age was indeterminate" for the cartridges. When I asked why the discrepancy- only 3 months later they could suddenly determine how old they were- the owner became VERY defensive. He tried to blame it on the wording, saying filters and cartridges were different. Whatever. So we bought some new ones online (for 1/4 of the price he said he could sell them to us at). At this point I was already completely over this company. We had decided they were totally incompetent. However come February we decided we were going to use a pool guy for weekly service this year. I had a referral for an independent guy who came out and quickly spotted the crack in the pool. He thought it looked fairly significant. We have an autofill on the pool that had always been turned on. He suggested turning it off and seeing if the water level dropped. Well in 6 days time our 30,000 gallon pool dropped about 3 inches. We realized we had a much bigger issue on our hands. I spent about 4 weeks of trying to find names for pool repair companies/arranging the dates for the draining/pumping of the water so the pool didn't sit empty for a long time, etc. I had Burketts scheduled to repair the crack after it was drained with a proper plaster and gunite repair-not just a patch. Ultimately Burketts came out and gave a very honest opinion that we were screwed and they were going to be very costly to repair the 45 FEET OF CRACKS that he found. He referred me to a geotechnical and civil engineer based out of Lodi that has developed a technique to fill these cracks less expensively than traditional methods using an Epoxy injection. Ultimately this cost us $5,000 to fill the cracks and repair the tiling that had to be removed in some of the places. We have a 2 year guarantee on the epoxy injections and being a geotechnical engineer, he was confident that all of the settling that had caused the cracks in the past was all done and there would be no more new cracks. He said these happened within a year of the pool/jacuzzi being put in and was due to insufficient support of the waterfall style jacuzzi. So the cracks were definitely there when we had the pool inspection. Totally crazy. I didn't even bother contacting the owner over this for two reasons. One, his defensiveness over a much more trivial issue in the past and his inability to have any customer service skills, and two- at the end of the inspection report there is a little paragraph which basically says they are not liable for anything. Such poor excuse for a company. read more

Horrible services! The first pool guy from here did an excellent job, but he left. Then everyone after him was just lazy. I've watched them (they thought we weren't home), they don't do the service we paid for. He was basically there, just to be there. But every time that he was done I will go check and of course there were still leaves in there. He would always tell us a different excuse to why our pool wasn't clean; not enough water in the pool was one of them. We FINALLY switched and LOVE our new pool company! I have never dealt with Fremont Pool Supply. My neighbor introduced me to this company a couple of weeks ago after I had been discharged from the hospital. While I was in the hospital, our pool pump went out. I called and made an appointment with Kevin. He came out and in about 10 mins had found the problem. A broken impeller. He said he could repair it at a cost of about $250-$280. Heck, he could have recommended a new unit and I would never had known that it could be repaired. He said a repair would give another 3-5 yrs of service. Thank you for you honestiy Kevin. I've found a new pool store in Fremont Pool Supply! Update: Next day...Kevin called and said he was finishing up a job and asked if anyone would be home. He arrived in less than 30 mins. Installed the broken impeller and some O-rings. Said I didn't need a part so he didn't have to order it. Price for repair was $200. read more

Very Bad Service. I had them come and check my pool heater. The person that came out told me that he had inspected and fixed the problem. When I got home, the heater was still not working. I asked to re-schedule and they wanted to charge me again for the 2nd appointment. At that point, I decided it was not worth it and looked elsewhere. When I got my credit card statement that month, they had charged me twice. They charged first for the service that they never repaired, and second they charged me for the appointment that I never made. Overall experience was BAD and would look elsewhere. read more

I have used KLM for several years. Service was spotty, sometimes good sometimes not. Seems they have a problem keeping employees as we saw different guys all the time. They recently raised their rate to what I believe was too high but we kept them. A couple of months ago we received a letter informing us that they were growing and needed to pass the billing on to another company so we should send our checks to the new guys. When my service fell off to only showing up every other week I called KLM and they told me this: "Actually we sold your account to another company and they have been servicing your pool for the past couple of months, you need to call them". I have had repeated issues with Fremont Pool Supply. They were hired to perform chemical maintenance on my pool. During the summer months, I must call them frequently to express my dissatisfaction that my pool is growing algae, even after the pool is treated by them. During last summer, I had to call them at least 6 times to come back to my home to correctly treat my pool. Last week, they came to service my pool, and let my dogs loose in the neighborhood. Rather than calling to alert me that they had been let out of the gate, the pool technician locked my gate and left my home. They made no effort to let me know they had let my dogs out--- no telephone call, written note, etc. My dogs are a close part of my family. When trying to explain the issue with the owner, he had no remorse or sympathy that my dogs could have been killed as a result of their negligence.
