I took my car here for a battery change. The owner was upfront with me about his pricing schedule. Basically had to pay for the diagnostic if I chose to take my car elsewhere after the diagnosis was complete. I thought the price for the battery and install was on the high end. However, he was a friendly guy to work with. and on day where every other repair shop in Parkville seemed to be booked up he was able to get me back on the road quickly. read more

4th Update. I had a slight coolant leak for a couple of months. Engine never overheated once. I've spent the last 5 hours trying to get my car home, and whatever they did, it is shot. I can't even make it one mile before my car is overheating and the coolant is boiling out of both ports. My mechanic friend said it was because they ran a pressure test when my engine was hot and blew a gasket. Please don't use these guys. 3rd Update. Called and asked for a refund since I left twice with an overheating car. The person started victimizing themself, saying it was my fault for being frustrated when I made my credit card payment that they didn't do their job earlier. As if somehow my emotions that hadn't yet occurred had gone back in time to prevent them from doing their jobs. 2nd Update. Made it two blocks after driving back for them to refill the fluid. They didn't think to tell me the system needs burped, let alone do it. Engine overheated again. Trying to do it two blocks away in the parking lot of Jimmy John's because they are too lazy to offer to help. Update. Just had to drive back after getting two blocks because my engine is smoking. Apparently they didn't even think to bother refilling it with coolant and pressure testing it, engine overheated. I am a firm believer in paying people well for a job well done. That was not the case with this visit. They spent 20 minutes on running a pressure test after spending a few minutes taking a couple of pieces off, and wanted to charge me for the full hour. Rather than sit around and wait for someone to put my car back together, I did myself (two minutes) and asked if I would get at least a discount for doing that. Nope. They claimed to know Land Rovers, yet they didn't even know how to check the oil level on it. They wanted me to come back and pay them to run a second diagnostic where they would charge me (as professionals) 4 1/2 hours just to take off the parts that I (as an amateur) could do within 25 minutes. I've had roughly 25-30 alignments done over the years and hands down the worst I've ever seen. personally I've laid in a gravel lot ran strings and eyeballed better alignments. my 2015 is all over the road. truck had 90k on it and every single part possible replaced in the front so they couldn't make up an excuse. Took 2 days to get this truck back. also went and put brand new tires on it. just for them to tell well in 2 weeks we can get it in to fix it. what a joke wouldn't let them work on a go kart. service was done on a 2015 f250 diesel read more

I have used KMC now for a 5th time with 2 different vehicles, I go there because they get things done very quickly and they are honest and upfront about things. Its a little more expensive but I would wait for a week or two somewhere else cheaper, the one issue I had, I took it back and they fixed it right away. read more

What kind of business owner tells a customer, "I do not give a F***"? Apparently KMC Mechanical's. Unfortunately, I cannot give a 0-star review. Through the course of a master's degree, about 10 years business experience, and a lifetime as a customer, I have learned that good businesses understand that it is easier to keep an existing customer than to get a new one. Bad businesses do not understand this and are willing to engage in petty squabbles rather than take care of their customers. I have learned that KMC Mechanical is a bad business, and they have lost at least a former customer. I had an alignment done there 18 months ago, the day after getting new tires installed (not cheap ones). In less than 25,000 miles, despite regular maintenance, that alignment failed, miserably, leading to all four tires wearing to unsafe levels - should have been good for 70K. The failure of the alignment was likely caused by other mechanical issues, and I am not suggesting it was done improperly initially. However, my brother-in-law is a mechanic at a reputable shop now, so I could have taken it to him for a free diagnostic, but since KMC had done the alignment that failed, I thought they might stand behind their work to at least look it over and let me know what happened. When I scheduled the appointment, that is the impression they gave me. "Just bring it in, and we'll be happy to take a look at it." They had the car for less than an hour before calling to quote me on repairs exceeding $3,200 (including 4 new tires, and charging me for another alignment). All the parts and labor estimates were high anyway, but again, my brother-in-law would give me a family discount, so I turned down the repairs, still not understanding exactly what led the alignment to fail - the shop noted issues on the front wheel assemblies, but not the back, where the tire wear was significantly more pronounced (except I also have warped brake rotors now, which were also new last year, likely due to the failed alignment). The shop then charged me $155 for the diagnostic - charges I never approved up front, nor would I have had I been alerted to their prospect. When disputing with the owner, he truly yelled at me "I don't give a F***..." and accused me of trying to get work done on my car for free (again, if that's what I were trying to do, I'd have taken it elsewhere). I was appalled. I will never take my car back to these shysters and would advise anyone else to avoid this shop like the plague. read more

KMC has done repeated fantastic work on both my toyoya tacoma and f250... From repair work to aftermarket installs he does it all and backs up his work. Prices are fair for his quality of work. Last time the f250 broke down he got it in same day and running hours later. He is my first call when Im in over my head with my 4wd toyo, and the first place I tell the tow drivers to take my f250 when it breaks. A+, professional work! read more

I had the worse road service experience in my truck driving years, my truck broke down ( 2006 frieghtliner ) on I-35 ,i called for KMC (Kris) he told me gonna charge me $100 dollar per hour we agreed on ,so started 1pm and left with the drive shaft to disassemble couple damaged nuts and buy parts,came back at 5pm with his co-worker work completed at 6pm ( so 5hrs X $100 = $500 ) but he charged me $1100 when i asked why he said because they are two people (his co-worker) for parts $999.59 i know the part doesn't cost that much ,but when i asked him to show me the rececipt he said it took time ordering from Frieghtliner dealer so he bought it from different dealer , later when i asked him again he said he forget it at his shop. he charged me for transmission yoke,support bearing,strap kit u-joint ... plus labor and service call fee ......$2374.30 !!! on his business card he puts " Kansas city's most trusted mechanic serv..."
