Do you want a dead dog? Then go to Knapps! They almost killed my dog by their miscommunication and regrettably untrained, uneducated staff. I understand mistakes happen, but the vet tech had no idea about the at-home sedative we have that we had already discussed with the vet, and confidently said my dog would get further sedation (which would have easily killed him). Then the vet tech proceeded to ARGUE with me about the further sedation -- which again, would have easily killed my dog -- and I had to pull up an INTERNET veteranian explanation on my phone saying "DEFINITELY DO NOT MIX THESE TWO SEDATIVES, THEY CAN AND WILL LEAD TO DEATH." Absolutely ridiculous experience and I'm grateful I advocated for my dog over someone who was eager to just kill him based on an "authorized" sedation. We will not be returning. read more

I take my fur baby to them for yearly exam and shots. As a rescue the nails were very long untamed & I try to keep them myself however the claws are curled and I didn't have the right tool to clip them. I 1st time Knapp charge me to clip $7. 2nd visit was $15 along with yearly check. This 3rd time girl stated an appointment was required and scheduled same day. $25 they charge to CUT his claws, no grinding no manicure whatever and less than 5 min.! read more

I am very happy with Knapp. I have had my dog able to come in when sick. I did not have to wait but a few seconds literally. Medicine was given and my dog was well. I go here regularly anyway for basic check ups and exams. They helped me when one of my dogs was very sick and did what they could and sent the information to OSU so that I could have my dog further assisted. Great place no problems whatsoever. read more

They really took time with my baby Dot after her Bronchitis diagnosis. Didn't push meds I didn't need which was really a true step in caring. Gave a follow up call as well. Took a very long time to see the vet (35 min past appointment time), which was annoying, because I was exhausted with my own illness, but I trusted the vets care implicitly. read more

My vet referred my kitty to dr Knapp for a surgical opinion after our vet tried and not been able here able to control a leg wound which was getting near he bone despite aggressive treatment. Dr Knapp and his staff were outstanding, and after discussing thoroughly, the vet agreed with kitty's vet's recommendation m and did a partial amputation of the leg. Kitty had an excellent recovery and follow up. Several months later, I moved cross city and changed vets. The new vet examined kitty thoroughly, especially the amputation, then asked who had done the surgery -- because it was the best job he'd seen in his 25yrs of practice. And just an aside-- Dr Knapp had done kitty's neutering at a minimal cost to help support Cat Welfare ( a local cat rescue where I adopted kitty 12 years before). The entire staff is equally caring. My Yorkie had 4 puppies a big litter for her and she's so little anyway I've been going to Knapp for a few years now mostly for shots and things that need done well I've never needed them for emergencies but I did yesterday my Yorkie started panting then her legs started uncontrollably kicking she could still walk but I had a feeling it had something to do with her just having babies anyway I called them they got me in within an hour thank God Yorkie had a fever of 107 and they believe she had eclampsia so they were closeing in just a few hours she needed intervenious meds tgs vet also new k didn't have snough money to take her to a emergency vet care plave so he did everything je could do he got her fever down and sent me home with enough shots for her and showed me hiw to give my dog shots and how to tube feed 4 little baby Yorkies and i caught on very fast but because lf him my mama Yorkie lived and the puppies are doing well thank God for him and his wonderful staff everyone was nice and caring i can't thank him enough or there wonderful staff thank you for everything I love you guys sincerely tinker bell s mama Sherrie read more

I simply can't say enough about the exceptional care that Dr. Lori Scheifer has been providing to my special needs senior cat since I adopted him nearly 15 years ago. There is quite simply no one else that I would trust more with my beloved baby. Not only is she very tender with him, but I fully credit her with saving at least 6 of his 9 lives, things that went undetected or misdiagnosed prior to going to Knapp. Dr. Scheifer found that a freckle in his eye that was once level was now raised. As it turns out it was cancerous & we were able to remove only the tumor & save his eye. That was 10 years ago & he has fortunately remained cancer-free. She pays attention to every detail & change from visit to visit. This is merely one example of a lifetime of care she has provided to my sweet boy. In addition, she has seen him through an upper respiratory condition, urinary tract blockage, hypothyroidism & food allergies. She has NEVER given up & I am ever grateful for all that she has done to keep my 17 year old so happy & healthy. We have used Knapp Veterinary for over 30 years. On the day to day care of our pets we have always been satisfied with the staff and doctors. Today we had an emergency. Our cat of 17 years was attacked by a dog. He was severely injured. We immediately called Knapp's to let them know we needed to bring our cat in immediately for an emergency. We were told that there were no available appointments for today. We explained our situation and that our friend and family member needed immediate medical attention. We were told "sorry but we don't have anything available". We ended up taking our wounded cat to a different medical facility were they were more than ready to assist us in our time of need. Our cats injuries were extensive and we had to put him down. How disappointing it was to find out that the vet we have used for over 30 years didn't have the time when we needed them most. Knapp's is a good care facility but don't plan on them being there when it counts the most. read more

Cruel. That is the only word I can use to describe this woman's handling of my cat. She grabbed him by the neck, and started jerking him all over the place for a good 30 seconds, after which I had to ask what she was doing because she wasn't doing any examining, just jerking him around by the neck and twisting his legs. I would compare the way she handled him, to how a fisherman holds and guts a fish. Finally I had to intervene, at which point she explains she was trying to get him on to his back. I insisted she let me help, as it was not necessary to treat my cat like a Convict. She the. Informed me "she'd been doing this for 20 years," as if that made her out dated methods of mishandling my pet valid all of the sudden? The way she treated him was clearly upsetting him, and she continued to do so til the point he wouldn't allow her to come near him. He was terrified. There was no sense of care or love, it was borderline abuse. I actually had to physically intervene and stop her from hurting my cat any further, I was absolutely DISGUSTED. I have been to many vets with many pets in my 30 years of life, and NEVER have I seen such blatant disregard for my animals comfort. I could have VERY easily picked him up and cradled him for her to check his heart beat from his stomach, had she not ruined his demeanor by savagely handling him like a pig for slaughter. Once he was terrified there was no calming him, and he did not calm down until we left the facility. I will NEVER go back to this vet, and STRONGLY suggest you do not take your pet here if you care for their comfort. She explained away her cruel treatment by comparing her neck grabbing to that of a mother cat, which I am well aware of, but this was not the case. I don't know how to describe it any better than she seemed to be pulling his hair and twisting his body for no reason whatsoever. This is a person who is still going by the practices she probably learned decades ago, which are no longer considered acceptable by today's standards. Never again. I feel so guilty for taking him here just to save a few dollars. From now on we will be going back to our old vet even if it costs twice as much, I'd rather pay double than have my pet abused and traumatized like that. read more

Sadly my first encounter with KVH was during the euthanasia of my dog. I was not a regular patient, but not caring for the services of my current vet, I was recommended KVH as a place that friends took their animals. The staff and vets of KVH were absolutely wonderful during the difficult process. They quickly scheduled me when I called (the appointment was in less than a hour after my call). The staff from the front desk receptionist to the vet techs, to Dr. Knapp were all very caring and compassionate. It made a very unpleasant circumstance a little easier to handle. I will be taking my other dog to KVH from now on for his vet needs. They have gained a new client. read more

I have been taking my dog to Knapp since he rescued me in 2010. He was bit by a pit bull right after we got him, and had some pretty bad injuries. His ear had to be amputated and he had a nasty bite on his neck. The neck injury required 2 surgeries. It was very traumatic for all of us, but they took excellent care of our buddy. He's been going back for his regular check ups and they have always been nice and helpful with his needs. I love having them close by and their hours are great for us. We love our buddy and hope to have many more years with him. I trust them with him and he isn't afraid of going to visit with them. Thanks for taking such good care of my buddy Knapp. read more

Ok I'm pretty done with Knapp Vet. They seemed great at first. Nice and clean, very sweet and polite. Then again , how hard is it to use a bottle of windex and pet doggies. Not exactly the best criteria for reviewing a vet. Since then, I've had some setbacks with their services. First of all the boarding is awful. We've never had issues with boarding before this. There are much better places if you need to drop off your pet for a night or two. I don't know what they do there, but my dog came back from only one night totally freaked out and covered in pee. I also have an issue with the "required" veterinary services. Since my dog is over 10 years old, she is considered senior, and they ask her to complete 6 month health checkups, $50 each. I love my dog, but seriously? She is fine; if she needs something I'll call. Finally, she gets Acepromazine for big anxiety moments - thunderstorms, fireworks, etc. She gets so worked up that she hurts herself- its really sad. I don't like drugging my dog, but sometimes, what nothing else can be done. Last summer, when we had very heavy rain and storms for almost a month solid, I had to refill the script. I understand that it is a drug of abuse, but I had been treated poorly by some staff when I had called to request the refill - like I was a drug addict. I have since had a more pleasant experience reordering, but still sour about the experience. read more

I've never had a bad experience here. The front desk staff is exceptionally friendly, & the veterenarians seem knowledgable. It might be a touch pricey, but I guess you get what you pay for. I don't feel that they ever tried to "sell me" on something my pet wouldn't really benefit from. One vet really impressed me with her compassion when we had to finally euthanize our 18 y.o. cat. I recently moved close and was searching for vets in the area. Since my dog was healthy and shots up-to-date, it wasn't an urgent search. Until my dog got a nasty bite from another. It wasn't OSU Vet ER "emergency" but it needed attention quickly. It was time to find a vet close, and Knapp was able to see her that day. They were professional, kind, and really wanted to make sure my dog was okay. Costs were discussed prior to any treatments (she needed to be put under for stitches in mouth) and I was well-informed of what was going on. The cost was probably a bit higher than a bargain-vet in the area, but nothing obscene, and far less than ER premium and the same-day service negated any high price for us. The follow-up removal of one stitch near the eye was included in original cost and performed by the vet. It would have been an immediate turn off had they tried to sell anything "extra" in our two visits, but I never got the feeling that was their main thing. In time, if that is how our subsequent visits go, that will change things. As is, I am thankful to live close to this place and for the caring, quick, and well-done treatment to my dog. read more

Knapp is where my family takes our cats. If it means anything, all four of these outdoor felines have lived beyond 20 years. They've also inoculated many strays that I've found homes for. Our cats' vet is Dr. Lori Scheifer and I can vouch that she has been absolutely wonderful to every creature we've brought in. She has excellent 'bedside care' and always makes the animal as relaxed as possible when giving shots or the like. Each time we had to put down a cat in its ancient age, she helped us come to a decision and gave the shot with the cat on our laps, so we got to say goodbye. We've had them deal with countless things over the years, and have never had a complaint. They've always also been very careful to make sure that everything is okay and to fully prepare us for aftercare before they release the cat after a surgery. I also had the lucky experience to be in the surgical room once. The people are both incredibly professional, but also really caring about the animals as they come out of anesthesia. Those cats were resting in cages in the back, and someone was always available to dote on them as needed. At the end of the day, everyone here is professional without being aloof or making an effort to talk over our heads (and they also understand when they're talking to another doc (who isn't a vet) and don't dumb things down too much either). The level of personal care really shows a lot, and the size of the hospital keeps everything on a close level, which means a lot when you're worried about your pet. read more

We had to bring in our dog, Hooch for an emergency euthanasia last night after he took a turn for the worse and after his regular vet could not accommodate him on an emergency basis unfortunately. I cannot thank Dr. Joey and the staff enough for the compassion they showed our family in this time of grief. I was referred to Knapp by Cat Welfare Ohio. When I adopted my cat, I was told that any health problems would be covered within 10 days of my adoption. My cat had upper respiratory and digestive issues so I called and got an appointment. When we first visited things seemed great. We got some antibiotics but even the Doctor remarked how hard it was to give my cat anything through an oral syringe. I was told that if I needed help, I could bring her in and they would adminster the meds. When I came back, the receptionist and technician gave me a hard time saying "You should be able to do this yourself, and it will cost money next time." Mind you that I was directed by the Vet that this practice was OK. A few days pass and she isn't any better. We schedule another appointment and I'm told by a different vet "Some of these things you are just gonna have to get over, she came from the shelter, this is typical." I was sent home with more of the same meds. Fast forward to the next weekend, the cat can barely breathe. I call and bring her in, they do an x-ray and tell me I need to take her to the ER or she could die from Pneumonia. I understand that Knapp offers this free service to Cat Welfare customers, but is it worth it if they treat these animals like 2nd class patients? Everytime I went in I noticed the Cat Welfare patients are kept in a different file, and it's clear they try to do the minimal amount of service with these animals since its free. Thankfully, the vets at MedVet were able to get us the right medicine and now my cat is doing much better. My message is this: If you are going to offer this program, do right by these animals. If further care is needed, explain that payment will be required to proceed. If you can't do this, then cancel the program and let Cat Welfare find another service. Due to my experiences, I can't reccommend using Knapp. read more

I became reacquainted with Knapp last year when we had to put my wife's dog down and the way the staff handled it was so impressive I switched my dog's care over to Knapp because on the very sad day he passes, I want to have the staff at Knapp help us through it. read more

I can not begin to say how happy we are with KVH! I have taken my dogs to another vet on Kenney Rd since the 1960's and I wish we would have come here first. From the very first visit, the difference is like night and day. The front staff is warm and friendly. Dr Munsell spent a good amount of time and explained everything he was doing. When he performed Holly's spaying, I was most impressed that they sent her home with pain meds and that the incision was perfect and never leaked( unlike my 2 dogs that were spayed at North Kenney). When we needed to board her for a few days, she actually came back with a little more weight! These people are the best. I have since recommended KVH to my brother-in-law and would highly recommend them to everyone. They are the most professional, courteous vet and really do believe in patient-centered care! read more

This morning i was in crisis as my dog had become gravelly ill over the weekend. I called and was seen within 40 minutes of calling. My dog was seen by Dr Brenda Evans. She was amazing. Even with cultures i was out in 35 minutes later-considerably relieved as it was all very treatable. i'm only giving one star because giving zero stars is not an option. the staff here seems friendly and helpful, but that is the only good thing i have to say about knapp veterinary hospital. i have had three experiences which made me seriously consider filing malpractice suits against two different vets at this office. one vet prescribed 4 times the recommended dose of medicine to my 16 year old cat... when he appeared to be dying before my eyes after given a clean bill of health, i researched the medicine and found he was taking way too much. they have also tortured a pet... i asked the vet several times if i needed to put the animal to sleep, but he assured me i was doing the right thing by trying different treatments. after four months of the pet going through this, she finally passed away. i felt like the vet just wanted to make more money. then, they charged me $92.50 to put a pet rat to sleep... outrageous! after talking with several others at the dog park, many of them have the same things to say about knapp. if you love your pet, don't go here!!! read more

My father became ill recently and ended up in the ICU at the hospital. I was left with figuring out what to do with his dog because her and my dog don't get along. I called a bunch of boarding facilities and vets who refused to help me. I called Knapp at 1pm in the afternoon on a Saturday. At first they explained to me that they closed at 4pm and wouldn't be able to see her on such short notice. I then explained the situation about my dad and the receptionist asked me to hold. She came back to the line and told me that Dr. Knapp would see her at 3:30pm. My boyfriend and I took her there and the staff was overwhelmingly compassionate. The doctor gave her the vaccinations she needed and told me that they would keep her as long as I needed. They were extremely kind and caring and should be commended. They were the only vet that I called that day that were willing to help me in an extremely tough time. I will always be grateful, and I recommend them to anyone who is looking for a compassionate place to take their animals. read more
