The following is a copy of my Facebook post regarding the folks here....I am at an absolute loss of words (in a good way) by the folks here.... I haven't talked about it yet but Lucky passed this week. She was my dog in a cat body best friend for years. She was easily 18+ and from the time she came into my life spoiled as much as I could. I had made an appointment at the vet I had previously taken her to for Thursday. I had braced myself to have to authorize her being put to sleep. Tuesday night she said goodbye. She said it in her way in a way still to tear jerking to put in words. Wednesday morning I called our vet we occasionally saw and canceled the appointment. Discussed why and asked some questions. Today we received this... (photos in actual Facebook post of the card + personalized message) Hand written and all... something done for people who had only been in once before...they made customers for life but I am still in shock that they did this.... So much in this world is hate and negativity....THIS is what being human is. Being kind to effectively strangers in their time of need. What was once a warm, friendly, and reasonably priced neighborhood vet has been completely gutted and transformed into a soulless, greedy corporate cash-grab under new management. The inviting lobby that used to feel like visiting a caring neighbor has been stripped bare into a cold, sterile, depressing white box. Any trace of personality, comfort, or humanity--pictures, bulletin boards, even the charming cage of finches--is gone. Now it feels exactly like standing in a communist breadline, except you're about to get financially violated instead of just waiting for stale bread. The real betrayal hits once you're in the exam room. The trusted vets we built relationships with for years have apparently been replaced by aggressive upsellers who treat every healthy pet like a walking profit opportunity. Our simple annual check-up for flea and tick medicine--a routine we've done for years--ballooned to a ridiculous $450+. Why? Because they pushed a laundry list of unnecessary lab tests and "just-in-case" procedures on our perfectly healthy 5-year-old dog. We paid it, because what kind of monster says no when it comes to their pet's health? But it left a very bitter taste. Then came the real insult. After two failed attempts to fill the prescription through our usual reputable online pharmacy (the way we've always done it), we learned Suburban no longer bothers to provide that basic service. They claimed they "don't have fax capability" -- in 2026. Give me a break. When we called back, they had the audacity to say that if we didn't buy the medication directly from them at their inflated prices, they'd slap us with an extra $5 "prescription fee" for a written script. $450 for a 15-minute visit, followed by a penalty for daring to shop around for a better price on the exact same medication we've safely used for years. That's not veterinary care -- that's predatory nickel-and-diming at its worst. Combine that with the total destruction of any welcoming atmosphere and the complete erosion of trust that they actually put our pets' best interests ahead of corporate greed, and the decision was easy: we're never going back. It's genuinely heartbreaking. The staff used to be fantastic, but new management has ruined everything that made this place special. They've turned a trusted local vet into just another sleazy money machine. We've taken all our pets here for years, but I can no longer recommend them in good conscience. In fact, I strongly urge you to stay far away. Avoiding them should be simple anyway -- they've already made it inconvenient by slashing their hours. No more Saturday appointments, and they're now open fewer hours than my bank. Save your money and your sanity. Find a vet that still remembers they're supposed to care about animals, not just quarterly profits. read more

I am a 1st time dog mommy of a lab boxer mix. He's my son and U want what best for him.. This place is full of amazing staff members. I've been bringing my 10 year old dog, Sammy, here for almost his entire life. Sammy has stress when getting his nails cut so we take him to these folks for a trim. He comes out wagging his tail, tongue hanging out, smiling. They are very through. All prices up front.. They care about animals. It shows from doctors to the support staff. So happy I found these folks. During these COVID-19 times, they come to your car to get your pet/family member. I love this being a cancer survivor and still on chemo. That shows they care about their staff and customers safety. Keep up the good work! read more

Suburban Animal Clinic - Sammy and Mommy - Veterinarians Near Me - Columbus, Ohio

I'm a 10+ year customer. You can order your medications through their pet portal for delivery or you can call in reorders and pick them up within a day or so. I get a post card as a reminder about annual check-ups and our dogs have always gotten an ecard on their birthdays. The technicians and vets love animals. I've never seen an unkind word or action from them. One of the vet techs loved our first dog so much (Dogzilla) she named her cat after him (Catzilla). February is pet dental care month and they usually have a discount on cleanings during the month. The first Corgi ended up with Sarcoma and all of the tests done to establish the diagnosis were exactly what MedVet needed in order to come up with a chemotherapy plan. It was nice to walk into such a serious appointment at MedVet and not have to return another day to talk about test results. The second Corgi has a recurring indolent ulcer. Suburban Animal Clinic performed a grid keratotomy on his eye right there in the office. The MedVet opthomolgist said it was well done and very straight - just the Corgi needed a little more help with a contact to allow the ulcer to heal. Any time I make a visit to MedVet, one of the Suburban Animal Clinic vets call me the next day to see how the dog is doing and if I have any additional questions. Beware having any type of medical diagnosis or especially surgery done here. We have had 0 of 4 success here for procedures and medical diagnosis leading to over $10,000 in additional emergency treatment at OSU to correct their issues. Three life threatening infections due to botched surgeries requiring week long intensive care, organ removal, reopening surgical sites for infected tissues removal, and more. They'll even have the gall to bill you for the initial botched surgery and all the followups at full price. They'll knock a whole $100 off the emergency followup exam. If you value your pocketbook and even more your pets life, take them somewhere else. I am more than happy to provide evidence to back up my review. read more

By far the absolute BEST vets in all of Columbus!!!! Wonderful caring vets, vet techs and all personnel! The cost for care is so reasonable and they do not "push" you into making any decisions right on the spot with "scare tactics". They answer all questions and are so empathetic. I will NEVER... take my dog anywhere other than here again. They made my pug feel so comfortable and loved. She didn't even freak out when she got a shot. That is unheard of. Suburban has provided care to our dogs and cats for over 30 years. They are caring, compassionate and knowledgeable. The staff has guided us from puppyhood - where we attended their puppy training class, all the way to life most difficult decision. I was VERY pleased with everyone I worked with at Suburban Animal Clinic. I called randomly on a Tuesday morning, and they were able to fit me in just an hour later. The clinic is super easy to find, right on Wilson on the corner of Fisher. The parking lot is pretty big, with plenty of grass for potty time. The waiting room is big and open, with free treats for the pups! They of course have food and things they sell, but I love that it was out in the open for browsing. I was brought to an exam room within about 5 minutes of arriving. The girl that first helped us was super sweet, and very good with my little Loela. She was very upfront with everything and kindly accepted the job of nail cutting since I am unable to do this at home. While she was doing this she noticed that the anal glands were very full. Sorry, gross, but I never knew how important it is to keep track of that. Vets in the past have extracted, but this place actually let me know that it can burst and I should really keep an eye on things. The main vet came and finished the check up. Found out all kinds of new things about my dog that no vet had ever mentioned. Turns out my dog is considered "blue" and she has very sensitive skin. Why in the world hadn't I known this before? I will definitely be back with Loela, and probably the other animals as well. read more

Having the vet examine my cat without me present just doesn't work for me. On the first visit, knowing I couldn't go in, I typed out a page with her issues. I included anything that I would need to tell the vet if I was in the room during the exam. I don't think that the vet even read it because when she called me in the parking lot after she examined the cat, she didn't address some of the issues I mentioned. When the cat started vomiting for multiple days, I made another appointment. No note this time because why bother? The vet comes back with a solution to one of the problems that the initial visit didn't address and recommends a shot because the cat may be nauseous. Two days later, the cat is throwing up again. I would have asked if there might be an obstruction. Again, no ability to ask questions and provide answers to any question the vet may have during the exam. In my opinion, it also seems that they have too many clients. It's hard to get an appointment and on both visits I had to wait for someone else's emergency. I think I will switch back to my old vet. read more

Anti aspirin even for short term use tech was rude and unprofessional and the vet that later called me was not any better had nothing to say they won't even treat your dog if you give them an aspirin my dog got cramps after a booster shot and never had problem they had no excuse just wanted me to bring him back in for another 50 bucks I called to see if the cramps was side affect they had no idea tech had me on hold and said I'm no I don't believe so if it was it would have wore off in 24 hours and when my other dog had two small surgeries they over dosed her I had her in several days after the surgery in a row she wouldn't eat was lethargic I took her Off all them meds she did better this place has become so money hungry and not supportive with dog owners based on income they have unlike other vets I have experienced they are supportive of an aspirin as needed here or there nothing long term and they sell it at Pet stores this is only Place that was so rude to me Over It than find out why after talking to head vet they acted as if I was killing my dog poisoning them they had all 3 in for yearly and patty two surgeries blood work showed they all healthy besides patty teeth got done and a small cyst removed on her wrist read more

When my older dog tore both her CCLs a year ago February I started taking her to Dr. Maul for acupuncture - she and the entire stuff has been amazing. My fur baby had much less pain after just the first treatment and healed up very well with continued visits. We continue to see Dr. Maul on a regular basis to keep my little one's "old lady hips" and arthritis under control. I highly recommend the entire practice, I feel blessed that I found them! read more

I have taken my dogs here and I must say they are very professional and very friendly. I saw a male Dr which I can not recall his name, but he talked with me about my dogs condition and recommended we try a medicine to see how it worked. I used it a few times when my dog really needed it for his anxiety, but he has gotten worst so I started to use it more and it really has helped him so much. He actually relaxes from his condition and we can see the difference. No one really took the time to suggest anything for him. I really like this clinic, yes they are pricey but it is so worth it if they listen and take care of your animals. read more

We all love are pets. However, this place is way over priced. I called to ask about getting my cat neutered there. Most places are around $40-$50 to do it, they however, told me it would be at least $300! read more

I cant say enough about Suburban Animal Clinic ! The staff are friendly, courteous, and professional. I never had a problem getting an appointment, especially when using their on-line scheduling. I have to make special mention of Dr Shardy. She was honest and up front when diagnosing my cat and was very realistic when offering treatment options. I brought my happy/anxious/lovable spaniels back here after two years of absence. We had no complaints, but went closer to home so they could be walked in a pinch. When I was taking them in myself, I realized the place we were going, did care, and was great, but was more 'get in, treat, leave' than what we were experiencing at Suburban Animal Clinic. So, I made the decision to take them back to Wilson Rd. This would be the second of two great Veterinarians I have met there, who listen to every word I had to say, and offer great advice for long term home treatment and care. They also tracked inoculations, which were not done at the local place, and administered them quickly and without discomfort to my pup. Above all, the staff, from administrative to vet-tech is amazingly friendly and gentile. read more

We don't usually write online reviews, but felt it was time to recognize Suburban Animal Clinic for their great service and care. We have been taking our two labs to Suburban Animal Clinic their whole lives. There is no other veterinary clinic that we would trust our four legged children with. The staff and Doctors are always extremely friendly and welcoming. But more importantly to us, you can tell they really care about the animals that they are treating. They are quick to respond to a voicemail, fulfilling a prescription, and can always get our dogs in the same day if it is an emergency situation. The clinic is clean and well equipped with all of the latest technology. The vets (we've seen both Dr. Stafford and Dr. Seimer) always preform a thorough exam and clearly explain what they are seeing. Furthermore, they are very patient with answering all of my, sometimes silly, questions and I never feel like they are rushing me out of the door. Our pups will continue to go to Suburban throughout their golden years, and if we were to ever have more join our family, they will most definitely be going there as well. If you are looking for a vet in the Columbus area, look no further! read more

I brought my cat Daisy here for an appointment because she was not like her normal self. The appointment was at 5:30 pm on Friday only 30 mins before they close. This was the first time I had been to this particular vet and when I walked in everyone was very friendly. Dr. Beth Stafford examined Daisy and asked questions, then she felt her abdomen, which had a very large abnormal mass. Within 3 minuets Daisy was having an X-Ray and 7 mins later Dr. Stafford came in with some not so good news. It was between emergency surgery or euthanasia. I choose surgery and within 15 mins Daisy was being prepped for surgery. I got a call at 7:00 p.m. telling me the the surgery was a success and that she had ingested....wait for it....26 Hair ties, 6 types of plastic, 2 rubber-bands, and some Easter grass. Everyone in that office stayed late just for Daisy and I could not thank them enough. Two days later she is recovering very well. There are no words the describe how amazing this whole office is. read more

They are dedicated to your pet's healthcare and their techs/support staff are another reason to trust your four legged friends to this practice.
