I have an older (09) Ford that I just love. So far Knapp's rebuilt the transmission and most recently replaced front brakes and stabilizer. Their work is solid. They're all super friendly, great communicators, and trustworthy. The Ford needs a few more issues corrected but Knapp's didn't try to convince me they needed done now. These issues can wait, and I appreciate their honesty and no pressure. Without hesitation I will always go to Knapp's. Family run business, and it doesn't get better. read more

When I mentioned that my insurance company would like to speak with them Parker quickly stated that they charge a 100-dollar administration fee to speak with the insurer. Sad to hear that type of garbage coming from a supposedly AAA approved shop. They also did not keep me abreast of the repair as they said they would. And used their "2-year warranty" as justification for charging me an additional 400 dollars. My car won't last another 2 years, and they know it. So, it was irrelevant to me. Just more Bull hockey from Parker. BTW, when I mentioned the so-called administration fee to my insurer, they recommended I get the car out of there as quickly as possible after using some choice words in referring to Parker. read more

I wanted to give them 5 stars but I s as m relatively new to this business. So far, they have been great! We needed a major repair done for my granddaughter's car and they explained everything and the timeline they gave me was dead on. Since then, they had to correct one issue, but they did so quickly and did not charge me. We called and ran the car up there about a problem with a wiper and they corrected that. Now, I am taking it for headlights and they are doing this quickly. I will continue with them. They are professional, courteous and fair. read more

GOOD & DEPDENABLE WORK, KIND PEOPLE I do not typically leave reviews, but the service I received here was so incredible I had to revive my Yelp account. A different mechanic left my car in bad shape, but a close friend recommended Knapps. I had my car towed here when it stopped dead in the street and they replaced my alternator immediately. Very straightforward, quick, and dependable. They explained that my wheel speed sensor (from the other mechanic) was the wrong type, and they did not install the knuckle correctly, so they told me it would be cheaper for me to go back and have it fixed under warranty, which was very kind. The other mechanic was trying to scam me into getting my brakes fully replaced, as well as the wheel speed sensor and knuckle on the other side -- all of which Knapps said I did not need. I called Jerry asking for his expertise and he explained everything to me, then went above and beyond any customer service I have ever received and offered for his technician to call on my behalf. They advocated for me, a young woman, in a business where you tend to be financially taken advantage of. I cannot thank them enough for their kindness and the excellent work they did on my car. My car was in rough shape and needed to be driven across the country and now I feel confident in doing so. read more

Brought my truck in for a bad bearing, seemed professional and very efficient as they had got it on a lift and "checked it out" in under 24hrs. So as far as that goes, I was happy. Until the quote was given. I really wanted to give this place a fair shake but left quite disappointed. The recommended parts PLUS the part I brought it in for was about $1,300. Which to be fair, could the truck use these extra parts? Probably but I didn't want that done. So then I asked what about the cheapest bearing(the reason I brought it to you). Quote was roughly $600... I wish I could justify charging someone $600 for one bearing or even hub. So instead I went without a car til the parts came and did it myself for $85 and an hour of spare time. Not counting the $75 they charged me for looking at it. Which I understand but $150/hr for labor? Not a fan. read more

RIP OFF - READ BEFORE GOING HERE - I am from out of town and came for a relatively small repair. My windshield wipers needed a new switch and my heating knob needed repairing. They called me and told me just for the windshield wipers, it would be $500 and if I wanted them to work on the heater too, it would be close to $1,000 due to labor costs. Luckily, this sounded outrageous to me and I made a few calls to some trusted repair shops back home and the Subaru dealership for exact pricing on parts. I took my car somewhere else as soon as I found out that it should only cost me about $250 to get the wipers fixed with labor costs included. In the end, after taking my car to an honest shop with people that are not trying to rip me off and prey on the fact that I am a young woman, I ended up getting both my wipers and my heater fixed for under $450. If you are a woman or man or human who does not know much about cars, like me, do your homework after they give you their estimate. My bet is they are over charging you!! I am incredibly disappointed that they would be doing something like this during a time of such hardship for so many people. read more

This place is an absolute JOKE. Lonnng story short, my ALTERNATOR needed replaced and they told me it was the starter. So I ended up paying for a new starter and a new alternator. 800 dollars later.. Any mechanic would know to check the alternator when a car isn't starting (which they said they did I highly doubt that) I questioned them about this and they claimed they did check the alternator and that "these things can happen over night" YEAH RIGHT that's why the car didn't start in the first place. I'll never come here again. I always go to foreign and domestic auto on 150th but decided to try these guys out since they're the only mechanics open on a Saturday. Big mistake. And after all of that all they offered me was a free oil change..... Thanks.... Also I called a few other mechanics in the area just to get their input on the situation the second I told them it was Knapp's they laughed and ALL of them said "Knapps makes my shop look good on a daily basis" So if the mechanics in the neighborhood know how bad they are that's a sign to not go here. read more

My check engine light came on. By the time I dropped my car off for repair, the light was off. They checked the computer and gave everything a once over to make sure there was no problem and mentioned that I had some longer term regular maintenance needs but didn't pressure me to do those immediately. I decided to have them complete those anyway since they already had the car. They finished up in just a few hours and at a reasonable cost. They were even nice to my dog while I was there. Last week, one of the brake pads broke off of my car, and my other 3 brakes/rotors were already in poor shape. I called Knapp's first thing in the morning the next day and they were able to have me drop my car off immediately so that I could still get to work on time. They had all the work finished by that evening so I could pick it up before the weekend, they did a great job, and their prices were very fair. Everyone I talked to from the shop was very kind & courteous, and they kept me updated with their quote & timeline. I just had my 2009 Subaru Forester repaired at Knapp's Madison Auto where I was very pleased with their services. I was given a loaner car, with a full tank of gas to use for the 12 days while they worked on replacing my car's head gasket, and more. They only ask you to fill the gas tank back to full when returning their loaner car. The manager, Don, and his assistant Keith, were so nice to me that I will gladly recommend Knapp's Madison Avenue to my friends and neighbors. Don, went over my bill and explained every part replaced. My car was finished a day earlier then promised so I was really happy about that too. I intend to give them all my business in the future. I bought an older model Ford Ranger .It did not have an E-Check ,so I took it in and it failed. I took it to an auto repair business and they did minimal work to it, the Egr valve was flagged as a problem by an OBDII reader. I took it back to the E-Check business and was told the tail pipe was too short and needed to be extended before Icould bring it back to test again. I received a list from the E-Check place with a list of auto businesses that were E-Check certified, I called Knapps and they told me to bring the truck in. They called me and told me all that needed to be done. I told them to go ahead with the repairs. I was pleasantly surprised when I drove home. It was like driving a new truck, quiet and smooth.We'll I will be taking it back to the E-Check station,this weekend,and quite confident it will pass this time.Thank you Knapp's. read more

I've done business with them before, so I didn't think twice about using their services again, and I should have, because my car got broken into. I had a bad experience with E&A Locksmith, where an employee might have used (or sold) a copied key I refused to pay for to break into my car the weekend before Christmas. They attempted to hot-wire my car, failed, and disabled it in the process. In comes Knapp's Auto Service, whom I called to tow in the vehicle and repair the damage several days later. They fixed the vehicle, but didn't change the key. I drove it home, left it on the street, and locked it. That night, my vehicle was broken into again, and the steering column was busted again in another failed hot-wiring. There was no forced entry again. So the thief still had the loose key, and somehow had the knowledge that my car was on the street again. I'm kicking myself that I didn't tell Knapp's that it was unacceptable not to reprogram a new key and lock for my car. But they're the ones who installed it without thinking twice. If they're that sloppy (which is the least I can pin on them), then I don't want their services again. read more

If I could rate No stars....the towing service is without a doubt the absolute worst I have ever experienced. After waiting over 3 1/2 hours in freezing cold they couldn't tow my vehicle had they bothered, in their many calls to keep me from calling another towing company, asked what was wrong with the car or make/model they may have been able to bring the proper equipment. They have a shop in the community of Olmsted Falls. I will NEVER use them and will share the experience with everyone I know including many insurance agency owners in the area. read more

This place put the wrong size serpentine belt on my truck. When I picked it up it was still making noise so I said some thing and the mechanic was like "oh yeah that's the wrong size belt let us change it for you real quick". So I waited ten min. Then another kid comes speeding out of the garage in it and drives over curb. Completely abusing it. I was dumb founded. But whatever I just wanted to get out of there I had just gone through a whole ordeal with my truck breaking down in the middle of the street in River. They towed it for me too. If I was yelping about their towing service I would give them 5 stars. They got there fast. But they are complete liars. So it's sometime later and I took my truck into a different shop and they told me it had the wrong size belt on. I had been driving it like that for 4000 miles. So don't trust this place with your auto repairs. read more

They took it apart, got all the parts, worked with my insurance every step of the way and had my car driving like new in no time. i suppose their garage is pretty okay at best.. i called prior to taking my vehicle to them, and what was said over the phone totally made my decision to use them... i just want to say to the next unsuspecting person... record each and every conversation that you have with any and every individual you speak with... simply because every person i spoke with all but said the same thing, until i dropped off my vehicle then it was a bunch of "it wasn't me that said that and/or i misunderstood what i heard and what they meant" i am pretty anal about what anyone says to me to the point i repeat it back then have them and have them repeat it once again.. now knowing this about me and knowing what they said before & after i dropped off my vehicle... i would have been an idiot to take it to them.. heck i will go as far as to say... if it sounds to good to be true never doubt it is.. especially when 99% of every auto shop has a diagnostic fee.. that 99% of them waive.. if they are going to do some or all the repairs... not these gents... they don't waive it.. they actually tack it on to the already over priced tab.. don't take my word... just record then watch how meanings change after they have your vehicle.. and in all honesty i hope they did do what they billed me for.. i'm kinda almost thinking maybe they switched out the part after they themselves taken it to get e-checked.. when i've supposedly "spent" the amount in took to get it passed although the light is still on.. in short it don't take a rocket scientist to know that nearly 100. diagnostic wouldn't count towards the 3/400. needed to get the sticker for 1 yr. not 2 yr they guaranteed over the phone... that later became the "we don't have power over the bmv" like duh! read more

I had power steering work done to stop leaking. Still leaking . Went back and was told transmmission lines were leaking. Still leaking. Went back was told that they checked their work and could not find leak. I still have a leak because I have to put power steering fluid in each week. These people are quick to defend the work they did but have no interest in finding the problem . They pat you on the head and give you a $25 coupon and send you on your way. Just quick fix money grabs. If it has nothing to do with their repair they are NOT Interested in the problem. Save yourself the grief and go elsewhere. read more

I used Madison Avenue Auto Service and Towing for a tow last Friday. They told me if I had my repairs done at their shop that they would waive the towing fee. They took a look at my car (2007 Camry V6) and told me I needed a new battery, alternator and belt. I was told the alternator itself was $500, the battery was $150 and the belt was $48.50. In the end with labor they quoted me $1,200. I decided to take it to my usual mechanic. He laughed at their quote and was able to find an alternator for $200 and install it for a total of $530 with tax. I did not even need a battery or belt. If you include the $200 I was charged by Madison Avenue Auto for towing my total for it all was $730. I saved nearly $500 by taking it to my trusted mechanic. This place tried to rip me off and they will do the same to you. Do NOT give them your business! read more

What a joke of a tow company. I cant believe you guys have a AAA contract. I called AAA to tow my mercedes and knapp Towing showed up with a flat bed. The rude ignorant driver couldnt find my tow hook and said he only can tow bmws and domestic cars. He left me in the middle of highway 480 during rush hour and told me to walk to dealership. I called AAA back fuming and they sent another professional tow company. This new comoany laughed at your unprofessionalism and had me towed off the highway in 30 seconds. OHIO DOT arrived on scene and I Filed a formal report and will escalate this to the state for review of the incident. I would give you 0 stars if I could. read more

We were not using this towing service at the time of the incident. At approximately 8:05 PM on 7/2/13, my wife was walking our dogs in our apartment complex (Hunters Chase Apartments, Westlake OH). The driver of a tow truck from Jerry Knapp's Madison Avenue Auto Service & Hitch was towing a black car out of the complex. As my wife walked by, the driver stopped the truck about 3-5 yards from her and began eyeing her up and down. This went on for at least 10-15 seconds, according to my wife. I was nearby picking up dog waste and, when the driver saw me, he stopped and drove away. My wife felt violated and uncomfortable. It made her feel unsafe and upset in her own neighborhood. I called the office (216-226-4100) and spoke to someone there -- I was quite upset. He said he didn't see the incident and couldn't speak to it. Are these the kind of drivers this company hires? Would you want a driver like this from this company picking up your stranded daughter, wife, or sister? Is that professional behavior from anyone? read more
