Let this serve as a major red flag to anyone considering entrusting their vehicle to ClevelandMoto. Based on his rhetoric and professed expertise on all things Piaggio and Moto Guzzi as relayed to me during our initial conversation, I anticipated a knowledgeable and thorough evaluation and repair of my new, under warranty Piaggio Beverly 400 from Phil Waters. At 350 miles my oil warning light came on. I did NOT purchase the scooter from ClevelandMoto but, as the closest authorized Piaggio service facility, I took it there for repair where I was assured by Waters that he'd resolve the issue. Over the next month, after multiple phone calls and an additional personal visit to his dealership at 2 weeks after drop-off, I was told that his request for parts from Piaggio was denied and that I should contact Piaggio personally to motivate their regional service managers as he could not execute the repair - allegedly a full wiring harness replacement - without their involvement. I contacted Piaggio Corporate and they responded and intervened almost immediately. They communicated with me and ClevelandMoto in a timely and professional manner via both phone and email. However, at day 28 with my scooter still in his shop, I was notified by Waters/ClevelandMoto that the repair had not and would not be executed due to man-hours required for the repair and parts availability. At that point, after 30 days of down time and with no repair, I was advised by Piaggio Corporate that dedicated national technical support along with guaranteed parts acquisition were made available to ClevelandMoto, and, as their dealer showed a continued reluctance to initiate a repair, I was directed by Piaggio to have the scooter transported at their expense to a different Piaggio dealer. On the day of pick-up I requested a work order and was told one wasn't available. I was also advised by Waters to pursue a Lemon Law action against Piaggio. The scooter was transported to Pony Powersports, Columbus, Ohio, and an electrical fault with the oil sensor was located and repaired. Total warranty time charged to Piaggio - 2 hours. Kudos to both Piaggio and Pony Powersports. They did in 2 hours what ClevelandMoto and Phil Waters couldn't or wouldn't do in 30 days. read more

I researched a variety of scooters before actually making any in person trips. As it turns out this was the only Piaggio dealer in N.E. OH. when I arrived in a Saturday afternoon the store was locked. Sign on the door said call for appointment. This was not on their website. Since nobody would answer the knocks or door bell, I had to call from standing outside. After explaining that there was nothing on their website that said to call ahead, and I had come from Mentor to Westpark, I was offered a quick look around, as there were no other customers in the store. I had a conversation with Renee. Let's say it was very tenuous. I should have listened to my gut, but proceeded to purchase in full a new Piaggio scooter. I owned it for one year. Then sold it. My biggest reason for selling it, I never wanted to do business with or have any further contact with Renee and the own of Cleveland Moto. So, you know how you have a great weather day, the chores are done, nothing in front of you but miles of glorious riding, and then you do something SO stupid it's like scratching the side of your Veyron with a key? Yeah, I don't have one of those either but a boy can dream. I screwed up good but the day was saved because of a very generous fellow motorcyclist at Cleveland Moto in Lakewood by the name of James, or as I refer to him, my new BFF. Went to Breadsmith for breakfast and managed to not only leave my key in the ignition but left the lights on. Sometimes I'm not a smart man. Soooo, I get outside and the combination of hottest day of the year with an already stressed battery and there was absolutely no joy when trying to start her up. What to do, what to do. As 1) I was 15 miles from home and 2) didn't want to hear about it for a couple of weeks from my considerably better half, I decided to walk to Cleveland Moto and beg their help. I offered to pay whatever my sins would cost me. A man named James immediately said, "No problem..." and got some tools and a spare battery together and met me back at my bike. Within a few minutes Snagglepuss (you got a problem with that??) roared to life and once again all was well in my world. I offered James every bit of the cash I had in my pocket but he firmly refused it. I could not express to him and cannot to you, reader, how very grateful I was for his generous and swift assistance. James said, "Just pay it forward..." and I promised I would. Thank you, James, for your kindness, time, and expertise. And, thank you, Cleveland Moto for hiring such a cool guy. Pride of Cleveland is just filled to the brim with experienced technicians, scooters and cafe racers, both new and old. Yes, there is a real air of superiority, especially with the vintage bikes/scooters, but you'll get that with any real scooter/cafehead. Every time I've gone in there, be it to sit on some scooters and dream, or buy a new helmet, the staff is very helpful without being too pushy. They have an extensive amount of cool gear that you can't find at any other local bike/Harley shop so it's worth the trip especially if you're looking for a distinctive look. The staff tries to steer you towards a quality vehicle that you'll be proud of. They sell primarily Stellas, Buddys and Vespas and have lots of cafe racers available too. Phil had the forethought to start buying and fixing them up years ago and just now are the cafe racers getting really hot so there are still lots to pick from. On the websiteand in the store, they do their best to advise against crappy quality Chinese knockoffs....I wish I'd read up on that BEFORE buying one on craigslist. (Side story: I had to get my stupid Chinese scooter fixed twice and there is a TOTAL of 60 miles on it. I think I put gas in it once....what a waste of money!!) Speaking of shitty Chinese scooters - the mechanics in the back are very helpful even though they quite understandably hate the things. read more

Not knowing a thing about scooters, we depended on Phil to guide us to make the right choice and which scooter would fit our needs. Guide us he did !! He is a wealth of knowledge in the motorcycle-scooter world and is well respected by his peers. Every time we ride our Vespa's, we say to each other that it is money well spent! Although it is no longer imported to the US, you'd think the staff could at least be bothered to answer basic maintenance questions like where I could pick up a new battery, etc. I was told to go home, look what battery I in the scooter THEN come back! I recently needed new tires for my motorcycle. After calling around and seeing what my options were, I decided to go with POC. They were not the cheapest option, but were the most convenient. I was quoted $135 on the phone to bring tires I ordered online to be mounted to the bike I rode in and it would take a day to do so. I dropped the bike and tires off Tues evening and got a call Wens evening that my bike was ready and my total would be $209! So much for the $135 I was quoted. I paid the $209 as they were not willing to budge at all on price. I will not return to buy a bike or get any sort of service done there. Be sure to get your quote in writing! read more

I recently purchased a used scooter (first one) and needed some small maintenance. Having extensive mechanical abilities, I thought I'd do it myself. I tackled a rear tire for the first time. Bought the tire on line, got the old one off and could only get the new one in halfway. Losing steam and patience, I decided to let the professionals finish it and balance it for me. I dropped the tire off at Cleveland Moto on a Friday evening, and it was finished the next morning. Whalen they quoted me a cost, I expected them to charge me more as I did not buy the tire from them. I was ready and prepared to pay for more. They charged me for the 15 minutes of labor and that was it! I figured they would "penalize" me as other service companies do when you don't purchase a product directly from them. My first experience with Cleveland Moto was very favorable. I'll certainly be shopping there for years to come. My only complaint...the parking lot is very small and a challenge to maneuver with a car. read more

Recently purchased a LS2 full face helmet from them during their BIG sale Sept 14th, 2013. Once I got the helmet home and opened the box I found a manufacturers official tag stating the suggested manufactures retail price was $70.00 more than what POC had listed of $249.00. So, even with the 25% sale I received on the helmet I still paid more than the MSRP of $179.95. Of course I was upset and returned the helmet and was promptly told that there was no error and that POC can sell their products at any price they choose. Buyer beware! I used to go to Cleveland Moto (Pride of Cleveland Scooters in the past) since 2007. It was a good place. Reasonable prices and very nice people. Something changed recently. Most probably the manager or the owner and all nice people are gone. The guy I talked to was very arrogant and rude to me over the phone. He gave me a price that was few times higher than other places and he told me that I cannot wait while they work on my bike (oil change) because he just does not like it. It is a new policy. We're from Louisville yet we took the 6 1/2 hour journey to do business with Cleveland Moto AKA Pride of Cleveand becuase they rock! I am pretty vocal when folks treat us right. For example like Jason & Inge Garner at Yamaha Louisville, or Jj Mann at CC Powersports, they have always gone above and beyond and taken very good and FAIR care of us, in our bike dealings. They become more than vendors, they're family. So they will always get a strong reference and business from us. This kind of treatment is unfortunately getting to be a rare commodity these days. It's rare that anyone rises to a level where they get added to our list but I can not say enough good things about Phil Waters and Cleveland Moto, coordinating a bike sale and logistics from Louisville to Cleveland could have been a pain in the ass, but Phil went above and beyond and made it a real pleasure. If you are into Scooters, Moto Guzzi's, vintage bikes, or Royal Enfields. I couldn't recommend them strongly enough. Thank you Phil, you're now family like it or not. We were on a motorcycle trip from Chicago to Niagara Falls and were on our way back to Chicago when one of our three motorcycles started leaking oil. We were still over a day away from home, so we searched for the closest Moto Guzzi dealer and found Cleveland Moto. We called them around 3pm and they told us that if we could make it to the dealership within a couple of hours, they could help us. An hour later, we pulled into Cleveland Moto, and they were so great helping us figure out the problem and fix it. And they went above and beyond our expectations, staying open later than typical did ... just to help us. I would highly recommend the service of Cleveland Moto. And the showroom is beautiful ... lots of bikes to browse and choose from! You have to visit this dealership! And they steered us to a wonderful restaurant while we waited ...
