However, I will not and I'd much rather drive to Virginia to support a more professional business. As soon as I walk through the door I'm greeted with "can you leave that outside." The lady, who I assume is the owner, had been referring to my small dog. I offered to have my dog sit at the door if she was concerned about her using the restroom on her floor (which was understandable even though my dog is well trained. I know she doesn't know that so fine.) she replied with "I'd rather you not have it in here at all." I understand not everyone is a dog person but it comes down to how you address situations in your establishment that determines the overall success of a business. She was flat out RUDE and unprofessional! I left without buying anything because why would I support someone that doesn't even know how to talk to people. Today, when I stopped by for a new satin pillow case ($3.99) (heh, just got my 'hur did'), I also found myself drawn to a pair of neon pink lurex leggings. You know, Mardi Gras is coming. In the end, I did not buy them because they didn't have my size. They are a tiny bit skittish about pictures inside so don't look for a lot of those but I will be back to this place again and again. And you should swing by, too, because I'm a fan. Oh, I'm docking a star because of the weird and difficult parking lot.

I also wanted loose curls or loose waves, since I was going on vacation. After roaming around the store for a few minutes, I finally found someone who worked there and asked her to send someone over to assist me. She sends over this Asian woman who spoke hardly any English. Great... After much gesturing, I was able to communicate what I was looking for. She disappeared behind a set of boxes behind the counter and I thought she was looking for the hair I asked for. She was gone an unusually long time, so I walked over to see what she found for me. Turns out, homegirl was on the phone having a personal conversation. I looked at her like "Really?" and she had the nerve to smile and give me the "Hold on, I'll only be a minute" hand. No ma'am. After several more minutes of waiting for her to get off the damn phone, I finally asked the girl at the register to help me. She walked behind the counter and the Asian woman told her she helping me. I said to her, "No, you're on the phone" and told the Ethiopian lady what I needed. She was not much better. I told her the color and style I wanted, showed her my hair, and she proceeded to pull out everything I did not want. I asked for 1B 33 hair, she showed me a pack of the ugliest "33" hair I've ever seen. No 1B in it at all. And it was straight. I specifically said (several times) that I did not want straight hair. She proceeds to pull out other styles that clearly do not match my color. Finally she told me, "Well you should just get 30 or 430, because that's all we have". Wait...let me get this straight. Since your supply is inadequate and insufficient, I should just go out with my hair not matching and looking a hot mess because 'that's all you have'? Ok... The experience I had here was unacceptable. And it is not the first time the customer service has been lacking, but this has definitely been the worst. If you don't have what I need, then say so. If you need to take a call, then say so. Sistas spend way too much damn money in here to be bothered with this kind of foolishness. The customer service was the main reason I'd travel unfathomable distances to spend my money here. Those days have come to an end. They can kiss my money goodbye.

One breezy fall day, I finally decided to come by. After the owner let me in, I was instantly taken aback by the super glam, super pink interior with the neon lighting front and center. The vibe here is modern, bright and cheery, and the owner's personality is just as welcoming (plus, her daughter owns the salon upstairs)! Inside, you'll find hair care items for naturalistas, extension-wearers, and silk press mamis in each corner, as items are displayed on white shelves throughout the space. I didn't notice any price labels on the items I purchased, but the owner was able to tell me how much each item I wanted to buy was. Please note that this store isn't as stocked as your typical BSS (I.e-items from wall to wall, braiding hair etc.) but it's still a nice place to check out, as they are still several items for your enjoyment. Plus, as a Black owned beauty supply, I am so proud to spend my coins at a place in support of my people! I shop at the local BSS a lot, so to be able to stimulate the economy and help a sista out means a lot to me. :)

If you have hair, or want to switch up your hair/hairstyle, or even if you are bald, this store is for you. You can be whoever you want to be and look however you want to look. You want it, they have it, and I'm sure if they don't, they can import it for you. I was amazed by so many types of hair you can purchase. I thought before today I knew a little something, but after leaving the store, clearly, I was educated further about some things. Any color, shape, size, texture, length, you name it, they have it. Don't believe me, go and see it for yourselves. On top of everything else, the prices can't be beat; really. The guy at the counter says that they have weekly sales. Two of the items I bought were on sale; buy one and get the other half off. In times like these, it's nothing like getting a deal. When I pointed out the price tags, she said, with attitude, that "prices change every day" and she would only honor one pack at $10.99. Then another item marked $3.99 rang up as $5.99. When I showed her the price, she repeated the same line: "our prices change every day." At that point, I told her she could keep everything. I'd rather go to Hair Depot, which just opened up the street. This store lost a customer today, but Hair Depot gained one. I value consistent pricing and respectful customer service.
