As a black woman, I genuinely believe that this is the worst beauty supply store I have ever been to. The store manager was constantly following me around. It was by no means a comfortable experience. There were other customers as well, but since they weren't black, the woman didn't harass them. I came in looking for a particular type of braiding hair. While there was some braiding hair, there was not a plethora of brands. In addition to there not being a plethora of brands there was very limited pre-stretched braiding hair. Also, the limited pre-stretched braiding hair they did have you could primarily only buy in packs containing three bundles rather than just individual packs. That could be a plus or minus depending on your needs. I came in specifically looking for a brand of braiding hair and was not able to find it and the other couple brands were not as good quality wise and/or when dipped in water. However, I did scan the isles to see what other beauty product needs they may be able to satisfy in the future. They have what appeared to be every major brand you could be looking for, including The Mane Choice which is a plus. They also have all of the bonnets, bobby pins, clips and hair ties a girl could want. There are also plenty of NYX make-up products if you like to causally pick those things up too. There were also some clothing items but I didnt scan the clothing too hard because I dont go to the beauty supply store for clothing typically. All in all this store is likely going to have what you're looking for outside of braiding hair. The store appears to have a plethora of extensions and wigs but I dont wear weave anymore so I cant speak too much on the extensions. As a tip I would do a price comparison before purchasing, some of the prices do seem to be on the higher end. Good luck with your beauty needs! read more

Bad customer service!! Bad business and bad management. You'll take money to keep your business open but not to protect or be concerned or take initiative of your customers in YOUR store safety serious? How do you expect people to come back to your store? After hearing a WOMAN getting harass!! This store literally allow someone that didn't even have interest of perching anything in the store...allow this person to walk around to harass a customer and to laugh? A woman who Express also was feeling intimidated and scared. complaint to the management and you telling me? That is nothing to you as the owner of the store to do? Is very distasteful. This place is a comprehensive beauty depot of sorts. They have wigs to bonnets to lashes to hair extensions to any type of hair care product. The store is organized, and the store clerk up front is always helpful in finding items. The one issue I had was when I went to pick up some shampoo, the area was dusty and some of the products were old (as in the expiration dates had passed). Sufficient for most beauty store supplies you need. Okay service, but product options are vast. When I visit my friend in DC I always stop in here because it's near where she lives and there limited options in my county for beauty supply stores. I really like the supply and variety of jewelry. I'm really bad with keeping earrings at work, so I always buy a nice supply here. This way I'm not upset when I loose one. They also have a good supply of hats and scarves for winter which both my teens love. I also like that it's in Maryland, so my purchased items are placed in a bag! Yay!!!! I learned this summer, that you have to purchase bags in DC for a small fee which I refuse to pay. Poor management. I walked into the store and I asked for the hair extensions to be shown to me and if anyone can help me find the correct one to match my hair color. Attitudes everywhere in the store from all of the employees and the hair extensions is so bad they came out in less than 4 days??? I am upset. Attitudes needs to be fixed. read more

Upon visiting the "depot" which has mean underlying, intense hateful racist energy. I did a nice face of make up and went out looking to find a decent human hair weave that would come close to the online premium hair I've been looking at. Firstly, I walked in around 5:17pm on a Sunday. This place closes at 6pm. Around 5:37 the store workers shut off the store music, reducing the shopping environment to a hasty, suspective silent shop which was very demeaning. (Oh by the way NO ONE greeted me as I entered, ready to spend $200.+ in their store) these people looked at me as if they literally held lemon on the bottom of their jaws. I finally picked up a pack of hair that looked like what I want only to get home and realize the hair that was shown next to my package was NOT the hair inside my box. These people are very rude, they totally and completely rushed me and not only at that never said anything to me yet the were very friendly to my white boyfriend who assisted me as I shopped. I hate this place and hope it burns down to the ground. I hate the people for making me feel not wanted and staring at me instead of helping me with a friendly attitude that they gave my boyfriend. I sincerely wish I could go back to before I walked in that store and go online cause the energy I felt was very unpleasant and not to mention I have synthetic mixed hair (that I don't even want) that's not my color, I am about to have it sewn in cause I already locked my weave appt days ago. You will not find anything but overpriced over taxed items from very suspective ignorant Chinese people who don't even like serving the community (black community) that they do. I go there ALL the time. Little things Bigger things. There just happened to be a 3.99 head wrap (a whole rack supply,), in the $99cents section. While I agreed professionally, that they should take it down right away. I could not understand them NOT giving me the item for $99cents. We in the Black community and now some white, make these folks rich enough to live in Potomac, Maryland or better. 3.99 - 99 = 2.00. I say shame on them, I'll find somewhere else. I agree 100% with Shante R re the "RACIST ENERGY." I was followed up and down the aisle while shopping. When I told the pursuing clerk "I am not a thief!," she retreated with an abashed look. While at checkout paying for my purchase, I noticed a female clerk (standing behind the counter and facing me) was engaged in a lip syncing and sign language conversation. I looked behind me and saw that she and the stalking clerk were engaged in a conversation across the room. I gazed at the stalker and she discontinued the communication. I now regret that because of my urgent need for the item, I did not cancel my order. This happened a few months ago and though I frequent this mall, I have not been back in this store. I called on the phone to ask if they provided a specific brand of hair and the man that was on the phone was extremely rude and unprofessional. He wouldn't tell me the price of the hair over the phone, furthermore when inquired about other brands of hair he would not give me the information then proceeded to hang up on me. I'm still amazed how wigs and weaves has taken over a great percentage of beauty supply shops, geared towards the Africanisk hair types. Well this store seems like it will be small from the outside, but its like the size of a minor supermarket. Each aisle has shelves stocked full of novice quality hair care products and implements. And there is even a section up front of professional grade products. The hair extension area dominates the exterior sections of the store, with a staff member available to assist. Now that I know that this store is hair. It helps remove trips to Rockville and Virginia, that I usually take to get the products I need. read more

Maybe overall they are okay but my experience with them, the manager and the short lady in the wig department not good business people. I guess the 2 young black ladies working there was very nice l guess he has them there as a prop for business because his customers are African Americans. And had the audacity to treat me as if l started covid. I went in hoping to find a wig at my sisters recommendation. I saw 3 wigs of interest and finally deciding on 1. The tiny Asian women in the back assist me. When l made my decision, l specifically showed and told her which one l wanted. She pulled a fresh one in a plastic type box of the model and placed it on the counter. I asked her to open to confirm it was correct. The color was, she said no open, just like the model. I took her word drove more than 25 miles home and was very upset when l realized it was not the one l selected and it was $10 dollars more. It was 1 of the ones l was interested in but not the one l choice. I didn't look closely at my receipt in which l should. I am aware of a no exchange policy because of covid but l drove all the way back for principal the next day knowing the Asians won't change it under any circumstances but l thought he would at least give me a credit of $10 and l take the lost mostly. He was nasty, stubborn and down right disrespectful. Never again. Make sure you make them open it. She must get commission that's why she wouldn't open it.
