I had knee replacement surgery a month ago. After 4 in home physical therapy sessions, I was scheduled to continue outpatient therapy. I was so lucky to have chosen Knight Physical Therapy. Knight physical therapy is a step above any PT office I've found. I was especially fortunate to meet Dr. April Anthony on the first visit, and I could feel the difference immediately! She has so much experience with connective tissue issues, there are times I feel better within minutes! They have signed photographs of sports celebrities lining their work area. Dr. Anthony has additional knowledge of food, hormonal (and holistic healing, which was a PLEASANT surprise for a change!) For a Dr. with her skill set to so patiently help improve my bias speaks to her stellar character. If you're able to see her, I'd recommend it, because she's a gem. I had a horrible experience in a large crowded room; "evaluated" sitting at a desk over in the corner. Eventually, they decided to heat (smelly, moldy towel) and apply "tens" treatment but did so sitting in a lousy chair in the back of the room because all the "gurneys," think MASH UNIT, were filled up! I ended up with back surgery the next week and afterward told my doctor, "anywhere but Knight PT." The CLINCHER: I paid the 20% my insurance doesn't pay, and then had to fight them regarding threats to "turn me over to an outside collection agency!" While recovering from back surgery, I provided them with a copy of my cancelled check. A nightmare for sure. They never even responded regarding their mistake. This review shares a comparative opinion between a chiropractic and physical therapy treatment. Six months ago, my lower back crumbled with paralyzing pain, and it happened again a month later -- but this time, the severe pain would not subside after two weeks, and I went to see a well-respected orthopedic. MRI diagnosis showed a 5mm-slipped disc at the bottom of my spine, and I was asked to see a physical therapist, one of which was Knight PT. The goal was to avoid surgery and to strengthen my core muscles. I knew that the injury came from over a decade of neglect that possibly started with a bad car accident in college, for which I had not sought proper spinal treatment. CHIROPRACTIC TREATMENT Instead of going to a physical therapist, I instead chose to see a chiropractor to have the spine evaluated. After 10 treatments, I never truly felt better. I started becoming skeptical that a few cracks here and there, followed by a 5-minute "therapeutic massage" (on a machine) would resolve my issue, especially since the chiropractor showed no interest in the result of the MRI scan. I felt that the scan should have been an item of interest to ensure my treatment plan was on the right path. When it came time to do the physical therapy portion of the treatment, the doctor gave me a booklet to perform exercises at home. That seemed odd -- doing therapy at home without a professional's supervision to ensure I would do it correctly. I felt like just another patient undergoing a generic treatment of spine and neck cracking. After a follow-up visit with the orthopedic, he advised me once again to go to a physical therapist. In his opinion, chiropractic treatment for my situation would only be a bandaid solution and not address the true injury. I heed his advice and went to see Knight Physical Therapy based on the excellent Yelp reviews. PHYSICAL THERAPY TREATMENT My assigned doctor is Nicole, and she did quite a comprehensive evaluation of my lower back. In fact, more comprehensive than the orthopedic or the chiropractor. Whenever Nicole was not available, equally knowledgeable Erica would continue the treatment. At the time of this writing, I have had 8 sessions, and each time I went, everybody knew my name. Nicole, Erica, Bea, John, ... each person had been quite welcoming and attentive. The vibe between the staff was positive -- one can see how well they got along with one another, and that they had a positive attitude throughout each hour-long session. What I truly appreciate about each and every one of the staff is that they take the time to answer all of your questions, take an interest in your well-being, and above all: educate you on how to become better. The education truly has helped me understand my issue better, and in return has helped me be more aware of what types of activities or motions to avoid. Throughout the handful of sessions I have had, I feel that the staff are a good bunch of people, and would love to be friends with them, should they be willing. One personal advice to anyone undergoing physical therapy: you will only get better, if you put an effort into wanting to get better. That means to do all your exercises as best as you can and to stay positive. Being positive has helped me through life's many situations. I likely have many more sessions to go through, and it has been daunting and discouraging at times to feel sharp pains returning from time to time. However, staying positive and doing my part in performing all the exercises is paramount on the road to recovery. To save money, I have also decided to discuss with Nicole on the next visit in possibly lowering the visitation frequency to just once a week because I have picked up all of the exercises at the gym twice a week. Whether the chiropractic treatment helped (it may have to some degree), I am truly glad to have picked Knight PT for my recovery. read more

Dr. Derrick has healing hands for sure! I had numbing headaches for seven years due to a small bulged disc in my neck from two whiplash injuries. The month before I saw him I was taking aspirin and Advil & switching off every six hours. No relief was coming from that and I was sick to my stomach. The day I saw Dr. Derrick I walked out pain free. I saw him for a few months to get me fixed and that was six years. I am not sure why they call themselves the Knights since they do not use swards to heal but their knowledge and hands. Maybe I find some day. For now I just write my review about the Royal treatments of my Physical Therapy I have been receiving in their castle in Garden Grove of Dr. Derrick Sueki and his knights. Actually there are no words to describe the way Dr. Derrick Sueki and his staffs applied their compassion and patience during my recovery post accident at work on he ship. After my first treatment I told Dr Sueki that he has healing hands. I see him concentrating when he does his healing session. It is hard to described, you have to experience yourself. If you have a chance to read even if you choose other Physical Therapy there is never too late to switch and use the Knights to give you the Royal Treatment that is so important in your recovery. After 11 sessions my Surgeon decided not to apply more sessions as the current treatments were just sufficient. -(The one; first actually session I received in other facility, and it was so bad that I had to ask my surgeon to help me find new Physical Therapy. My Orthopedic Surgeon Dr. Hormos Zahiri Senior M.D., M.S. is the Doctor that recommended me the Knights. Look for review by me for Dr. Hormoz Zahiri and his staff on Yelp. I must also tell you about one of his assistants whose hands are the best in massage therapy. I did experience other Knights in other parts of my recovery treatments and they all were very wonderful and patient and polite. I could be in the worst day of my times sometimes and they turn around my misserable day. So when I walked away form treatment I felt like I have never had a bad day. I walked in post surgery on a herniated disc and on lots of pain medications. After seeing Derrik, I very rarely take any medication for pain and have been able to lead a normal life, which I wasn't sure was going to happen. I went from using a walker, to a cane, to using nothing! I now see Derrik whenever just about any physical issue arises feeling confident that he can help alleviate the issue. I went to Knight Physical therapy after seeing 4 other physical therapists, two orthopedic surgeons, and a neurologist who all had mixed opinions and no solution to my back, hip, and calf pain. This is the only place I will go to for physical therapy. They have helped me recover from 2 separate knee replacement surgeries over the past 2 years. The staff is professional, friendly and knowledgeable. Erica is my preferred therapist but the others are just as through and kind when I was treated by them. The support staff (Bea, Mylene, etc.) are supportive and caring. They take the time to ensure you complete your exercises correctly even if it takes more than the allotted time that some places adhere to. The facility is even bigger now since it has been expanded and remodeled. It is clean and orderly. They wipe down the tables (I have been to some that don't) after each patient. The one thing that impressed me is how they all work together as a team and have fun doing it. I highly recommend this facility. read more

This is the first Physical Therapy office that has made me feel like they genuinely care for, and about their patients. I am very sure that my experience is shared by the other patients that I have seen in the office. They are very knowledgeable, and really do know their stuff. "No pain, no gain" is NOT the philosophy of these gentle, caring therapists. In other offices that I have been to, I have been shuffled from one therapist to another on a regular basis. At Knight PT, I only see Matt, and he really is as good as it gets. I started seeing him only a couple of weeks ago and I have already regained full range of motion in my shoulder. We are working on retraining the muscles so I can use the full range unassisted. I have come very far in the brief time I have been in Matt's care. But I am greeted by name from all the therapists. I am encouraged to keep going by everyone there, including the other patients.
