I was not allowed to ride the seemingly awesome ROYAL JOUST pony ride (there's an age/height/weight limit & apparently I exceeded them all, wow so messed, right!), and so, being depressed, I decided to go ahead & just eat my feelings. Seeing as the closest buffet was allllllll the way by the Technic Coaster, I opted to check out Knights BBQ instead. And it was conveniently located next to an ice cream shoppe. Perfect! So, with a tears in my eyes, I ran over to go stuff my face. You cannot compare this BBQ place to non-theme park restaurants because that's just not realistic. BUT- if you compare Knights Table BBQ to Calypso Bay Smokehouse (Seaworld), Knights win for sure (not just because Knights are sexier than whales), and that's why I've decided to give it 4 stars. When I'm visiting the park, I like to go to Knights Table Barbecue for their fries! Always perfectly cooked, and deliciously seasoned. They give you a heaping serving (compared to the other fry sellers at the park) for the same exact price as other vendors. Plus, they have about 7 or 8 different barbeque sauces to choose from for your dipping experience! The lines move fast, and there is very little wait- if any. It's a cheap? No. Is it worth it? Yes. Here's why: 1. It's the closest thing you'll find inside Legoland that resembles food from the "outside world." 2. With the exception of a few items, the food is pretty good. 3. It can be as carb-heavy or protein-heavy as you like, depending on your food selection. 4. It feels almost like a proper meal. So here's the lowdown: I ordered a ton of food. In fact, I think I almost ordered everything off the menu save for the salad because, I mean why? I'm on a mini staycation. There's no need for salad. The "meats" are cooked pretty well, but the ribs and the pulled pork was a little on the dry side, but it was nothing a little sauce couldn't fixed. There's a variety of sauces awaiting the tables outside, so you can choose to enhance it as you please. What was really dry was the chicken. I was so disappointed. Not only was it dry, it was flavorless. No amount of sauce could fix that. I paired every bite of chicken with sauce and pickles, and still, the blandness of the chicken just overwhelmed every bite. The brisket was by far the best. I highly recommend. The fries were good. As long as it is crispy, it's hard to go bad with fries. The kids meal wasn't bad; it just wasn't extraordinary. It's mostly your standard kid options: hot dogs or chicken tenders, fries, apples, etc. What was really good aside from the brisket was the corn bread and baked beans. The corn bread had such a delectable outer crust and had a good corn flavor on the inside. The beans, whether it was from a can or actually made from scratch I couldn't tell), was a nice complement to cut through the insane amount of protein that I had ordered. I always have to have veggies with my meal, so I was disappointed that there was next to nothing to choose from. The only thing that looked like it grew from the dirt were the green beans, and that was just a complete letdown. Not only were the green beans hard from being roasted for far too long, it was just so greasy and inedible. What a waste. Overall though, this place is a nice reprieve from all the "junky, fast-food" feel of amusement park food. I highly recommend giving this place a try. read more

They give you soooo much food at this place and it's not a dry BBQ either. I was stuffed so much by the the smokey BBQ. I had the pulled pork, brisket ribs combo with a salad. Gotta say, the sauces were pretty darn good, the Carlsbad gold is more of a mustard based sauce while the sweet and smokey was good, I also has the traditional BBQ sauce as well. I also sampled the ribs. Wasn't the best but definitely pretty go. I had some of the pulled prom be really salty, I believe the it was a piece of the bark, but darn it shouldn't be that salty is it?. read more

This place didn't seem like much, but we were pleasantly surprised. They had this "kids eat free after 5 pm" deal that no one seemed to know about, so we took advantage. Saw it online at the Legoland site. We got lucky with the timing of our trip to Cali. Food was very good. Portions were huge. Even the kids liked their kids meal. Usually, the kids meal is basic and very limited. Not in this case. They got ribs, fries, raisins, and a drink. Not bad. The beans were really good. I had the BBQ chicken and the wifey had the smoked pork and spareribs. We were all pretty damn satisfied. Enough to take a nap even. If I go to Legoland again, I'd make sure we eat there for dinner. This is our go to place for lunch every time we go here. We get the baked beans, toast, fall off the bone meat, corn on the cob, etc. We get our protein fix, sample a little of everything, eat outside so you can make a mess, and they provide condiments at every table. My family and I went here today and that will be the last time. Your meal comes with meat and 2 slice of white bread, if you want a side that is an extra $3-4 EACH! The meal I purchased was $12+, not including sides and that was one of the cheaper meals. You basically get trapped, because the pricing is all the way at the end where you get your meat. I don't like to throw away money and this was a complete waste! To top it off my brisket was SO fatty and greasy I chucked half of it, because it was pure fat and yes brisket has a lot of fat, but prepared in a quality manner it should be rendered off. One of the only places in Legoland that serves beer. Be prepared to empty and toss your glass before leaving their patio. They will be watching you closely. All seating for this barbecue joint is situated outside. They've had a number of bee swarming incidents here over the past few months so if you're allergic---be alert. Food is okay. It smells better than it tastes. You get a lovely waft of barbecue as you're walking up. Everything is pricey. Just as it is everywhere else in Legoland. Not a lot of selection to choose from. But it is nice to have at least one place in Legoland where you can relax with a nice cool one. read more

I came here a few days ago on a family outing. In hopes of trying to eat healthy, my wife and I ended up here. We ordered a Half Chicken each which was way more food then we needed. Although the food was lacking a bit in the flavor departments, the portions were a decent size. If this place was outside of the amusement park it would get a below average rating. Being that it is an amusement park where options are limited, this place is A-OK. If you do find yourself at LegoLand, you should probably check this place out. read more

I wasn't expecting much. After all, amusement park food is normally overpriced and really, really mediocre. BUT, the hubs wanted us to try to eat at the park since after 5 pm, kid's meals are free. They don't advertise this on the menu or in the park, but we did see this on their site, so we asked to be sure. They assured us that with the purchase of a knight's feast, a kid's meal would be free. I loved that this place offered real food instead of the same boring kid's choices. The kids could eat ribs too, and it was free! The hubs ordered the chicken plate, which came with chicken, baked beans, and fries. Both kids had ribs. The Princess, who is indifferent about food other than desserts pronounced it "DEEElicious." The Little Piggy, my ten year old foodie, was gnawing on bones and licking his fingers and being extremely quiet, which is rare. Not only did they get ribs and fries, but there was a box of raisins and they were given full size milk or juice. No soda option for the kid's meal. YAY! I also had the ribs, which were meaty and moist. I also ordered a corn bread, which was huge. Overall, great meal for the 4 of us for under $30. That's amazing in a theme park. read more

One of the better options at LEGOLAND rather then all the fast junk food around. We ordered fried chicken tenders & the free range roasted quarter dark chicken. The chicken was juicy & had a good flavor to it. I really liked their bbq beans too. I personally liked the array of different BBQ sauces outside you could choose from. After trying several I came to the conclusion I liked the Carolina style sauce that was called "Gold" it was also a golden color. The corn bread was also delicious here. Line moved fast & a lot to choose from. Plenty of seating around located right next to the knights play area wehre the kiddos can play while you eat. read more

Took the grand kids to legoland for a last minute getaway this weekend. We ate here for lunch. I spent 100 dollars on 4peices of corn bread, 2 chili bread bowls, 1 fruit cup, 2 kids meals (chicken hot dog), baby back ribs, roasted chicken, and 4 drinks. Well kids meals are kids meals. The chicken was good i mean really good. Ribs were pretty good. The corn bread was really good, but the star was the chili bread bowl. I visited Legoland with my family yesterday and had a great time! We passed by this bbq place and immediately wanted to try it out. I ordered the brisket and hot link with a few things on the side. First of all, it is very expensive (which is no surprise at an amusement park) and second, it was NOT GOOD AT ALL. It actually made me sick. I got home and vomit everything I ate earlier in the day. The brisket was extremely salty around the edges and the hot link was nothing special. It tasted like the ones you get at the grocery store and warm up in the microwave. I wouldn't be complaining if I hadn't paid $30 for a stomach ache. The only thing I enjoyed was the butterscotch rice pudding that I got. It killed the extra greasy and salty taste terrorizing the inside of my mouth. Little did I know, they would be back to haunt me later when I threw it all back up. Anyways, the line to get food was quick, but paying for the food was a pain in the ass because there is only one cashier on each side and the customers take forever to pay. What should be a 5-8min wait, turned out to be like 10mins! The quarter chicken leg was good and it was great paired with the knight's bbq sauce. The best sauce I had... The gold sauce was mehh and the reg was just ugh. BTW, I dont like eating beans but since it came with my meal, I took a bite and omg, it was actually good. I almost finished the whole cup. On the expensive side. We bought 1 adult meal, 2 kids meals, a chili bread bowl and 2 corn breads and it was over $50. I had the chicken and it was okay. Not very flavorful. And I was not a fan of their baked beans at all. My husband seamed to like the chili bowl a lot. The kids meals looked average...they both got chicken fingers. The BBQ was tasty, but the portion sizes are very small for the price paid. All of the sides are a la carte, so your total will add up quickly. The best value is the pulled pork sandwich for $6.95 which had about the same amount of meat as the $12.95 Smokehouse sampler. read more

Yes, this is expensive, but by far this is the only place in Legoland that I thought tasted good. The food was actually GOOD. Obviously, when you're at Legoland you don't want to leave to eat and come back, that's just a hassle, so we settled here because my daughter wanted a kid's hot dog meal again (which she got the day before). They have two kids' meal options and BBQ ribs or BBQ chicken for adults plus two sides. I got the BBQ chicken and it was tasty. The chicken was advertised with no added hormones and organic. It did taste like it and I got fries and beans on top of that. My daughter's hot dog meal came with the hot dog, drink, fries, and raisins. Total was about $30. It is now called Knight Smokehouse. The food is way better now. Still expensive but the BBQ is better. Theyre biggest meal is more then enough to feed 2 people. The BBQ sauces are delicious. I liked the pulled pork and fall off the bone ribs. They even have a choose your own adventure coke machine for your drink with multiple flavors options. This place has the BEST corn on the cob I recommend it very strongly ! Very clean and most of the staff is very friendly and nice ! Some things to watch out for is they can get pretty pricey... You pay for everything u pick up and it almost looks buffet style so if you have a little one that loves dessert and loves to eat I recommend leaving them outside while you buy for example: my plate was corn bread, brisket, and corn on the cob and it was $14.96... Corn about $4 brisket about $7 and bread is like $1 or $2... Also, limited seating so stake out a spot BEFORE u get a tray of food and lastly, you're located next to a ride so you may hear repetitive annoying noises from it but other than that it's WONDERFUL !
