I was excited about a bbq place in Encinitas. I decided to order to go tonight. I ordered the Bbq Beef Ribs only to be told they've been out of beef ribs since 1pm. I was there at 7:30pm. Really??? I ask whether they used smoke for the chicken and they said yes. So that's what I ordered. I think they must have cooked the chicken first, then throw it in the Bbq til it chard the skin a bit. I tasted very, very little smokiness in the chicken meat. The chicken was tender but the bbq I dreamed of was not there. As I ate the chicken, a hair was in the meat. I thought one had fallen out of my head, but I had to tug firmly to get this one out of the chicken. Definitely not a loose hair of mine. I tossed the rest in the garbage. So disappointed and can't recommend this place. I had high hopes. I will say this: the staff was very nice and I liked the bbq sauce. Decided to celebrate our bbq lovin' friend's birthday party at this place and it was a great choice. Made a reservation for 5:15 pm Saturday afternoon and walking in, there were plenty of seating. Love the vibe of this place, it's upbeat and Siena our server was awesome. We ordered various platters, the Enzo's tri-tip, Pulled chicken and Brisket burnt ends and other dishes like the Short rib pasta. The food arrived promptly and each person thoroughly enjoyed what they ordered. The meats were tender and very flavorful, the sides like the red skin potato salad and coleslaw were cool & creamy. Craving some BBQ and wanting to try out Enzo's, we picked a Friday lunchtime and found plenty of dining room space to dine. The layout is very spacious, showing little change from the previous occupant, Buffalo Wild Wings. We ordered the Organic Chicken Salad and the lunch special (BBQ pork sandwich, coleslaw, beans, spare ribs, and a fountain drink). The salad was excellent, made with fresh spring mix, cranberries, dates, jicama, Manchego cheese, farro, and naked almonds, all tossed in a delicious champagne vinaigrette. The lunch special was truly special--the great pork sandwich was slathered in BBQ sauce, requiring no extra sauce at all. The sides of beans and coleslaw paired perfectly with the spare ribs, and the fountain drink rounded the meal out nicely. The building still maintains that classic sports bar feeling with plenty of screens wrapped around the room. To top it all off, the service by Andy was excellent, the restrooms were clean, and we will definitely be back to try more of the menu! read more

I expected the meat on the baby back ribs to fall off the bone. The service and staff were great!! We were a party of 10 and they took really good care of us!! The setting is a fun sports bar setting. The three stars are for the food. We ordered almost every kind of meat and none were that good. The fried pickles, nachos, and cornbread were good but everything else was bleh. I'm pretty sure everything is pre prepared buffet style because things came out minutes after we ordered them. 3 1/2 stars. I give it that. Never been here when I walked in. Big place, not too many people on a Tuesday. So I figured we'd get the red carpet on service. Server was good, nothing to brag about. And food....thats where it lacks. They need to get the food down and I think they'll have more business. Beers were ... cold. So that's good. But I don't have anything memorable about this place. This is one of our favorite spots for a nice casual date. We live in Del Mar and will drive for good food. I typically order the beef ribs and ask for light bbq sauce. They are AMAZING!!! I consider myself a connoisseur of beef ribs.... They are perfectly rendered and most importantly, they are CONSISTENT! The sides are good, I like the Cajun or steak fries. They also have a good happy hour menu. The ranch is homemade and that is super important lol. Typically the service is pretty good. This last time we went we were served by Andy, he is a happy person, very attentive and proactive. I'm literally going to ask for him every time. He made our experience wonderful. Anyways, I need to try more of the Italian part of the menu because they have a great selection. It's just so hard to steer away from those beef ribs lol. read more

We come to Enzo's often and love it every time. This was the first time we came for a big event...FIFA finals World Cup. We had a table of 10 and looking around the room, there were so many large tables like ours I was so pleasantly impressed to see such organization. I took a look around at the # of guests and could see that there was a lot of attentiveness to all guests. We had several dishes and cocktails and had a FANTASTIC time. All in all, ENZO's is the place to be for a regular lunch or dinner as well as a large group event. They work like a well oiled machine and are the nicest people. The food is really good and service is quick. The manager is top notch and friendly. We have always enjoyed our time here. I might drive 100 miles, or in this case about 10 miles, for great barbecue. Either you love it or you don't. San Diego is hardly known for its barbecue but there are a few very good spots, if you know where to look. This specific location of Enzo's--in Encinitas, on a very busy corner--may be a little haunted. There have been a number of different businesses here over the years. It is a prime location but I am sure the rent is sky high. You walk in and it is just one big room. Interestingly, they have a large refrigerator at the front with beers for sale. I suspect this is mostly for take-out orders. There is no floor covering inside--it's just a slab--so it can get noisy. I'm good with that. It's a barbecue joint. It should be loud and a little rough around the edges. Leave your suit and tie at home. You get about 12 menus at the start--the regular (double-sided) menu, specials menu, drinks menu , etc.--and it can take some time to navigate all of them. Oddly, they also offer Italian food and pizzas, but ok, if that's what you want, you can get that here. The draft beer options are extensive and excellent. Many very good local beers are represented. We didn't want to gorge on giant appetizers so we ordered the onion rings--normally a side dish--for an appetizer. They were good and crispy and not greasy. I liked them. To get a sense of their greatest hits, we ordered the "American Feast." It says it can serve two to three people and I agree with that. It is a LOT of food. You get baby back ribs, tri-tip, brisket, pulled pork, chicken, and hot links. The pulled pork was good. The hot links consisted of a few slices of a hot link, instead of a full link or "links" like the menu said. Nothing was bad. Everything was ok. Separately, we tried the pulled pork sandwich and that was good. All of the sandwiches and barbecue platters come with beans and coleslaw. The beans and coleslaw were fine. The cornbread which came with the Feast was just a tad sweet and was very nice. Here's a gripe: most barbecue places allow you to pick your sides. Here, you are stuck with beans and coleslaw. Want mac and cheese or a different side instead? Extra charge. Our service was very good. The portions were generous. The food was fine but I think there is some room for improvement. Man after a long day visiting the city and beaches, we forgot to have enough meals! So we as a family decided to get some BBQ at Enzo's. It was an exceptionally warm and humid day in SD and we were spent. As soon as we sat down, we were greeted by our waiter, Jeff, who was awesome energy . He provided us with great service helping explain the menu and providing suggestions for some of his own favorite items he enjoys.
