Such a good fun! We ended up visiting a couple times during our trip in San Diego. We loved their lunchbox specials for only $12. You get an entrée, side and cornbread. I tried the fried southern style catfish. It was a great size and well breaded. It was super good. I really enjoyed it. It reminded me of being back south. I also got a side of candied yams. They weren't too sweet It was a perfect side to my cat catfish. We also got the southern BBQ rip tips, chopped spare rib ends, which were well seasoned. With this dish, we got the side of mac & cheese, which was very cheesy and one of our favorite dishes. We also tried the BBQ baby back ribs. The lunch portion comes with four pieces. We got it with the side of hoppin John which is like beans with other stuff in it, it was pretty good. We also got a side of mashed potatoes which was really good and had plenty of gravy. Loved the service, this place is pretty small and most people who came got take out, but if you're in the the area, it's definitely worth a stop!!

First time here. I thought the meats were alright but nothing special. The brisket was def like 1/3 fat in the middle, the ribs were hardly tender, fried chicken was meh. Not a big catfish person myself, but the catfish nuggets were actually pretty good. On the flip, sides were really good. The mac and cheese is amazing, potato salad was boring (pretty much just potato and dressing) but at least homemade, hushpuppies were some of the better Ive had. The woman at the counter was handling the many takeout orders like a boss and super helpful/friendly for this first timer. All that being said, I was disappointed to end up unswallowing everything for an hour straight. Not sure what item made me sick but the rest of this $41 meal is going in the trash.

[[HIGHLIGHT]]What a find!! I felt like I was eating in Inglewood![[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Only had the lunch specials. But will definitely be back for more. What a great weekday special at $12 a plate which are quite plentiful. The menu is quite large so plan on many more visits Tried the rib tips which were a healthy portion. The catfish was large and so crispy. Meals came with unlimited fresh cornbread too. Other locations open a little later This particular location looks like it does a lot of catering Service was so friendly and had helpful hints too [[HIGHLIGHT]]Small place but quite efficient[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]

Catering plate: MAC N' CHEESE, COLLARD GREENS, catfish, brisket, ALABAMA FRIED CHICKEN, beans and CORNBREAD - with a side of fruit

My first try of Felix's BBQ was through a catered event and it did not disappoint. The brisket was my favorite, followed by the catfish and then the fried chicken. The sides were also stars including the beans, collard greens, Mac n cheese and cornbread. The fruit was also very fresh and you could tell someone took lots of care in cutting each fruit. There are several Felix's BBQ locations in North County SD which makes it very accessible.

I was in the area and searched eateries near me and to my surprise Felix's was less than a block from where I was. I immediately ordered online through the website. I ordered the blackened salmon, collard greens and Mac and cheese. I immediately drove to the location and was greeted by a friendly lady whom I explained I ordered pick up online. She went to the back and returned and stated it would be a few minutes which I expected because I was so close to the restaurant when I ordered. [[HIGHLIGHT]]As I waited I was able to observe the few people enjoying their meal. The sounds of soulful music playing.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] I must say I haven't been to Felix's since they left Market Creek Plaza so I am happy to have made my way back and will do so again. [[HIGHLIGHT]]This location is small and in a business district but still the same great food![[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]

[[HIGHLIGHT]]The Oceanside location is better for sit down meal, but this location works fine for pickup as there is tiny seating with no ambience.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] The food is still the main attraction- the sides are scrumptious and a platter is ample to share doe 2 persons. I'll definitely be back to enjoy more southern food

A Hidden Gem Serving Up True Soul Food! This spot is the definition of a hidden gem. My wife and I stopped by, and from the moment we walked in, we felt like we were being welcomed into a family cookout. My wife got the Alabama fried chicken--flaky, well-breaded, and seasoned just right. I went for the St. Louis ribs, and they did not disappoint. Tender, flavorful, and cooked like something straight off the grill at a family gathering. But the real test for me is always the mac and cheese. If it's not right, it can throw off the whole meal--but this one? Soft, cheesy, fluffy, and clearly made with love. Absolute perfection. And let's not forget the unlimited cornbread, which was the perfect touch. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The restaurant itself is a business office turned eatery, giving it a small but cozy, home-style charm.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] It almost feels like your uncle opened up his own little restaurant, and he or the chef is personally making sure you're fed right. This is their main location, and they don't do much marketing, which is exactly why I had to write this review--more people need to know about this place! To top it all off, Brenda, the server and host, was incredibly kind and polite, making the whole experience even better. [[HIGHLIGHT]]I can't knock it on ambiance or location, because together with the food, it all adds to the soul.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] This place is the real deal. 5/5 stars.

Food was great - we had the BBQ chicken with collards and red beans with rice. Even though they were shortstaffed at this location, the server was great. She did her best, communicated and let us try some of the sides. [[HIGHLIGHT]]I would have given it 5 stars except that this location is primarily take out (self or delivery) for dinner and we did not know that - so it was very quiet and no ambiance in the dining area.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]We hear that lunch is more of a sit down ambiance due to all the small businesses in that area and hope to come back for lunch soon![[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]

My mom loves oysters, and they did not disappoint fresh, flavorful, and absolutely worth ordering. We also tried the gumbo, and it was incredible rich, flavorful, and the perfect complement to the seafood. The fried shrimp was a little overcooked, and the oil tasted slightly old, but it was still good and definitely not enough to take away from the overall experience. The portions are generous, the seafood is always satisfying, and the quality keeps me coming back. It's become one of my favorite spots whenever I'm craving seafood, and I highly recommend giving it a try!

The workers check on you at the perfect times, help you understand the menu, and even break down your order and pricing so you know exactly what you're getting. The prices are great and surprisingly affordable. I ended up leaving a $30 tip because I couldn't thank them enough. If you're on a budget, they'll even pull out a Sharpie and write different options and prices right on your table to help you stay within your budget. What other place has service like that? McDonald's? No way. Chick-fil-A? Not even close. The Boiling Crab is an incredible experience, and I would definitely come back again and again. Whether you're trying a seafood boil for the first time or coming back for another visit, this is the place to go. They have all the seafood and sides you could want, and everything tastes amazing. Would you rather spend hundreds of dollars on random stuff from Facebook Marketplace, or about $20 per person for a delicious seafood boil the whole family can enjoy? The food is filling, flavorful, and worth every penny. This place is also perfect for birthday parties. They don't take reservations, but they do have wait times, and you can always call ahead if you're planning something special. I'm actually planning to have my 50th birthday party here with a group of 20 people, and they told me they can accommodate us, which is amazing. I'll be sure to update everyone on how the party goes! Also, my husband is the one who drove me here, and I'm so thankful for him. He's currently fighting stage 4 cancer, and seeing him smile and enjoy a great meal meant the world to me. For a little while, he seemed happier and felt better, and that's something I'll never forget. So, ladies and gentlemen, if you're craving a seafood boil and you're anywhere in the San Diego area--whether you're a few minutes away or even a few hours away--you know where to go: The Boiling Crab. It's a fantastic place for families, friends, and anyone looking for a fun and delicious meal. - Beckett

Alone or with a group, it was a super cool place to go. IT'S NOT THE COOL PLACE IT USED TO BE I gave up a few months ago ordering the whole broiled artichoke which used to be amazing but now is always small, tough and burned. The sand dabs I ordered last night were mushy, greasy and tasteless. The Parmesan 'crust' was soggy. I had to ask the bartender 4 times for lemons (none came with the dish) because she would only give me 3 tiny slices at a time - perhaps they are being rationed due to Strait of Hormuz related supply chain issues? It's possible the complimentary sourdough bread is being rationed as well. IT'S NOT THE COOL PLACE IT USED TO BE In the past this restaurant was lively with all kinds of fun and warm interaction between staff, regular customers and tourists; now it is just hectic and loud. In the oyster bar area there are tv screens literally everywhere so the vibe is more sports bar-like than the vibe of a quality oyster bar.
