I tried the fried southern style catfish. It was a great size and well breaded. It was super good. I really enjoyed it. It reminded me of being back south. I also got a side of candied yams. They weren't too sweet It was a perfect side to my cat catfish. We also got the southern BBQ rip tips, chopped spare rib ends, which were well seasoned. With this dish, we got the side of mac & cheese, which was very cheesy and one of our favorite dishes. We also tried the BBQ baby back ribs. The lunch portion comes with four pieces. We got it with the side of hoppin John which is like beans with other stuff in it, it was pretty good. We also got a side of mashed potatoes which was really good and had plenty of gravy. First time here. I thought the meats were alright but nothing special. The brisket was def like 1/3 fat in the middle, the ribs were hardly tender, fried chicken was meh. Not a big catfish person myself, but the catfish nuggets were actually pretty good. On the flip, sides were really good. The mac and cheese is amazing, potato salad was boring (pretty much just potato and dressing) but at least homemade, hushpuppies were some of the better Ive had. The woman at the counter was handling the many takeout orders like a boss and super helpful/friendly for this first timer. I just wanted to preface that I ordered via DoorDash. I got the brisket plate and the sampler plate with beef rib, baby back ribs, pulled pork and fried chicken. For the sides I got baked beans, Mac and cheese, greens, red beans and rice, fries. It also came with corn bread which was a pleasant surprise. Brisket: it's on the leaner side which I like however pretty sad that I didn't see the nice red ring. It lacked flavor. The bbq sauce it came with was alright. I asked for spicy and it was far from that. Baby back ribs: was alright, lacked the Smokey bbq taste and bbq sauce. I had to add more sauce. Beef rib: was the best out of the meats. Smokey tasty but definitely more tough to eat. Fried chicken: it was very salty but juicy. It has a sweet aftertaste which I didn't like. Pulled pork: taste like any other pulled pork. At least it was tender. Baked beans: good but I am not a fan of bell peppers in my baked beans. It has some bacon pieces but it didn't really do much for flavor. Greens: I added some salt. They were alright. Fries: good flavor and liked how crunchy they were. Red rice and beans: meh not a fan Mac and cheese: good but I've had better southern style Mac and cheese. Corn bread: My favorite part of this meal. Crunchy outside layer and so soft in the middle. I added some butter which made it even more flavorful. Definitely would recommend adding to your order. My first try of Felix's BBQ was through a catered event and it did not disappoint. The brisket was my favorite, followed by the catfish and then the fried chicken. I was in the area and searched eateries near me and to my surprise Felix's was less than a block from where I was. I immediately ordered online through the website. I ordered the blackened salmon, collard greens and Mac and cheese. I immediately drove to the location and was greeted by a friendly lady whom I explained I ordered pick up online. She went to the back and returned and stated it would be a few minutes which I expected because I was so close to the restaurant when I ordered. As I waited I was able to observe the few people enjoying their meal. The sounds of soulful music playing. I must say I haven't been to Felix's since they left Market Creek Plaza so I am happy to have made my way back and will do so again. And let's not forget the unlimited cornbread, which was the perfect touch. The restaurant itself is a business office turned eatery, giving it a small but cozy, home-style charm. Food was great - we had the BBQ chicken with collards and red beans with rice. Even though they were shortstaffed at this location, the server was great. She did her best, communicated and let us try some of the sides. I would have given it 5 stars except that this location is primarily take out (self or delivery) for dinner and we did not know that - so it was very quiet and no ambiance in the dining area. I've eaten here three times and food is consistently great. The pulled pork and smoked brisket are exceptional. Their choice of sides are over the top; too many to count! My go-to's are the collards greens and potato salad, both house made. The staff are super friendly and always willing to rattle off the choices of sides. The side were fresh. Mac n cheese. Cole slaw, yams, baked beans with bacon. Fried catfish was tender and not greasy. We plan on retuning soon.
