    Catfish lunch with yams
    Shirley C.

What a find!! I felt like I was eating in Inglewood! Only had the lunch specials. But will definitely be back for more. What a great weekday special at $12 a plate which are quite plentiful. The menu is quite large so plan on many more visits Tried the rib tips which were a healthy portion. The catfish was large and so crispy. Meals came with unlimited fresh cornbread too. Other locations open a little later This particular location looks like it does a lot of catering Service was so friendly and had helpful hints too Small place but quite efficient

Catering plate: MAC N' CHEESE, COLLARD GREENS, catfish, brisket, ALABAMA FRIED CHICKEN, beans and CORNBREAD - with a side of fruit

My first try of Felix's BBQ was through a catered event and it did not disappoint. The brisket was my favorite, followed by the catfish and then the fried chicken. The sides were also stars including the beans, collard greens, Mac n cheese and cornbread. The fruit was also very fresh and you could tell someone took lots of care in cutting each fruit. There are several Felix's BBQ locations in North County SD which makes it very accessible.

The Oceanside location is better for sit down meal, but this location works fine for pickup as there is tiny seating with no ambience. The food is still the main attraction- the sides are scrumptious and a platter is ample to share doe 2 persons. I'll definitely be back to enjoy more southern food

Blackened salmon, collard greens and Mac and cheese, corn muffins

I was in the area and searched eateries near me and to my surprise Felix's was less than a block from where I was. I immediately ordered online through the website. I ordered the blackened salmon, collard greens and Mac and cheese. I immediately drove to the location and was greeted by a friendly lady whom I explained I ordered pick up online. She went to the back and returned and stated it would be a few minutes which I expected because I was so close to the restaurant when I ordered. As I waited I was able to observe the few people enjoying their meal. The sounds of soulful music playing. I must say I haven't been to Felix's since they left Market Creek Plaza so I am happy to have made my way back and will do so again. This location is small and in a business district but still the same great food!

A Hidden Gem Serving Up True Soul Food! This spot is the definition of a hidden gem. My wife and I stopped by, and from the moment we walked in, we felt like we were being welcomed into a family cookout. My wife got the Alabama fried chicken--flaky, well-breaded, and seasoned just right. I went for the St. Louis ribs, and they did not disappoint. Tender, flavorful, and cooked like something straight off the grill at a family gathering. But the real test for me is always the mac and cheese. If it's not right, it can throw off the whole meal--but this one? Soft, cheesy, fluffy, and clearly made with love. Absolute perfection. And let's not forget the unlimited cornbread, which was the perfect touch. The restaurant itself is a business office turned eatery, giving it a small but cozy, home-style charm. It almost feels like your uncle opened up his own little restaurant, and he or the chef is personally making sure you're fed right. This is their main location, and they don't do much marketing, which is exactly why I had to write this review--more people need to know about this place! To top it all off, Brenda, the server and host, was incredibly kind and polite, making the whole experience even better. I can't knock it on ambiance or location, because together with the food, it all adds to the soul. This place is the real deal. 5/5 stars.

    Chicken, collards, red beans

Food was great - we had the BBQ chicken with collards and red beans with rice. Even though they were shortstaffed at this location, the server was great. She did her best, communicated and let us try some of the sides. I would have given it 5 stars except that this location is primarily take out (self or delivery) for dinner and we did not know that - so it was very quiet and no ambiance in the dining area. We hear that lunch is more of a sit down ambiance due to all the small businesses in that area and hope to come back for lunch soon!

We chose this location because it was a meet-in-middle for our party of 5. We didn't realize it was kinda like an express Felix BBQ. Limited drinks to cans of soda and bottled water n ice tea. The location is in the middle of a business park in one of the suites. It reminds me of an office building lunch room. Simple tables 5 or 6 tables. We chose the large dinning table in the back seating for 8. So if you're seeking a southern ambiance or theme I would probably check out the other locations For us, we absolutely loved it. We were fine with glasses of ice water , a can of Coke We ordered 3 dishes to share and I have to say the food was amazing. The flavors unique (to me as I'm not privy to creole southern soul food ) but still bbq. The beef brisket was excellent. The chicken and ribs combo were perfectly prepared and seasoned. The side were fresh. Mac n cheese. Cole slaw, yams, baked beans with bacon. Fried catfish was tender and not greasy. We plan on retuning soon. Our hostess (didn't get her name ) helped us with questions about the menu. At the end of the meal we all were so pleased with her recommendations. The chef even split our food up for us and plated it individually. What a nice gesture. Highly recommend. You won't find bbq like this anywhere in north county San Diego.

I recall it being a delicious and a wonderful dining experience. I have been looking forward to bringing my family and friends here all week. I am giving this restaurant 3 stars, because their food is still AMAZING and their staff is super nice and I believe deep down inside that they just had a REALLY OFF night. We had reservations for a party of 9 last night. The table was set up nicely and accommodated a few extra if needed, which I thought was cool. We started with some adult beverages: an Old Fashion, some Hotel Nacionals, a Fashionably Late, and a couple of beers. Everything started great. Dennis, our server was very cool and friendly and gave great suggestions. We ordered the mac and cheese sides and they were delicious with huge pieces of savory bacon in them. We also ordered the brussel sprouts which we never received and didn't even realize it until the very end when we received the bill because of all the other issues we had... but we'll get to that in a moment. But let's talk about what did go well... the delicious food we did get. We ordered the Pig burger which was sooo good and came with crispy fries. The fish for the fish and chips were 2 huge pieces and were delicious, came with yummy seasoned waffle fries and the tiniest tartar sauce and malt vinegar. I had to request 4 more for that amount of fish, but no big deal. Dennis brought out as much as we needed. Their ranch sauce is really good too. Don't judge just because it's a little peachy'ish and looks thousand island'ish. lt's still some very good ranch. My son said he really tasted the bitterness of beer in the fish batter but maybe it was just in that piece he had; I could not taste it in the piece of fish I ate. The short rib was really tender and delicious... the sauce was just a tad salty for my taste, but the mashed potatoes it sat on sort of balanced it out a little. The fried chicken thighs were really cooked well, juicy, crispy and seasoned perfectly. We ordered two Teres Major steaks. One rare with mashed potaoes, one medium rare with grits. The rare one came out medium and without any mushrooms, took FOREVEEERR to remake (the rest of the table was almost done with our meals...& not sure why it took so long since the restaurant wasn't that busy and it's a RARE steak). The one with grits came with mashed potatoes instead of grits. Dennis was super nice and apologetic and corrected both mistakes when we let him know. He then brought us a big bowl of grits. The manager (blonde gal) came over and apologized for the mistakes tonight, letting us know that usually does not happen, and let us know she'd be comping one of our steaks and would be bringing a dessert on them. We thought that was very nice of them. However, as nice a gesture. we never did receive that dessert. My husband handed Dennis his credit card before the bill arrived (before our friends could try to pay the bill) and not sure why but our bill never came, and we never saw Dennis again either after he boxed up our leftovers and took the card. We had to ask another server for our bill because we had been waiting for quite a while... and needed to head out as we were already late to meet friends at a lounge. The other server came back with my husband's credit card, the bill (that's when I finally noticed the brussel sprouts sides we never got but were charged), and let the server know. He immediately apologized and took it off the bill. So I'm not sure what happened last night at Flying Pig...missing and charged brussel sprouts, steak overcooked, missing mushrooms, mashed potatoes instead of grits, then a comped dessert promised but never delivered. WOW. I had to apologize to my friends. I was totally hyping up this place and it underdelivered. They automatically got their 20% gratuity for our party of 9 but anyone that knows me knows how much I absolutely love great service combined with exceptional food and that could have easily been a 30-35% tip had they been on their A game! We only come to Oceanside once a year. Maybe we will try again next year. Maybe not. This trip was about trying out a bunch of different restaurants and giving honest reviews on dishes/businesses we haven't tried before, or in a long time. Do better guys.

Our table never lacked for tea, water, coffee, etc. Foster took great care of us (and shout out to Nick who's also provided amazing service to us there). The Bloody Mary was the first thing to blow my mind. It was absolutely delicious and maybe my new favorite Bloody Mary in LA. It made me wish I'd Ubered. But I also had some wonderful hot, Earl Grey tea. I love how they present it to the table. We covered a lot of ground and no notes. We had the caviar with crème fraîche and truffle kettle chips, a seafood platter that , the fried green tomatoes - which I will order every time I'm there, and the Dungeness crab and rock shrimp Benedict. The dining room itself is beautiful--comfortable, stylish, and inviting. When you look around the room there, it feels like every table in there is celebrating something. In a city overflowing with brunch options, it's surprisingly rare to find a place where the food, service, atmosphere, and pacing all work together so seamlessly. It was one of those meals that reminds you why dining out can still feel special.

We got: Chowder "frots" (fries and tots mixed in with some New England clam chowder, bacon, onions, cheese, and other goodies) 10/10, would definitely order again. My wife got the lobster roll with a side of clam chowder. Loaded with lobster, but you do pay the price. Labeled as market price, this was almost $40. Delicious, but not worth it in our opinion. 6.5/10. Pan roast (house specialty which came with shredded crab, shrimp, clams, and muscles). This, topped with rice, was heavenly. Better than any pan roast I've had. Came out ripping hot as it should. My wife was envious of my dish. 10/10 From the kids menu we also ordered the chicken Alfredo. My kid loved it, but my wife and I both had a bite and wow, we would've ordered that for ourselves it was so good. 10/10. We can't wait to come back just for the food. On top of that, however, service was above and beyond. The servers and everyone in the restaurant were so accommodating to us and our child and made us feel so, so welcome. We would come back even if the food was bad, solely for the service we received. Vibes we great, decoration on the walls look like they hired an artist to paint it. They had two TV's behind the bar / prep area that was showing NBA and PGA which I'll never complain about. All around 10/10 experience.
