Needed to talk to the tow truck driver when my dad's bus was towed, the tow truck driver was a misogynistic prick and hung up the phone on me. When I went to go retrieve the bus, they insisted that they did not accept any forms of credit/debit cards, said that I MUST PAY IN CASH or they'll take me to court. Came back and stood my ground and they accepted card. Took them two hours to give me the bus. I was parked for approximately 7-10 minutes in a tow zone at 520 County Line Rd. Kansas City, KS 66103. Within those minutes and upon being informed that the area was a tow zone, I immediately went to relocate my car, which was already hooked up to the tow. The driver was extremely unprofessional and disrespectful, telling me that I could pay him $200. Cash on the spot or he was taking it to the lot, where it would be much more costly to retrieve my car. He added that if I "got an attitude", he wouldn't release it to me at all, putting conditions on my ability to have my car released from the tow truck. This behavior was highly unethical and what I'm led to believe, illegal. See below... **if you spot a tow truck driver taking your car, and the tow truck is still on private property, the driver must release your car to you unconditionally. A tow truck operator who violates this law is subject to a civil misdemeanor, a fine of $2,500, and/or three months in jail. I have no idea what happened to the other one-star review for this place, but please, please do not do what my parents and I did: take these people at their word. Make sure everything that they promised to do for your car is documented in writing. Ask for copies of all the forms they give you. After you get your car back, take your car to a trusted mechanic near your home and have them do a routine check that everything is where it should be. Do all of that and I hope to God you do not get stranded several hundred miles from home, because your car won't stop, your battery is toasted, you have no jump cables, there is no reception, and strangers aren't always kind enough to stop. This is what happened: we got into a collision on Harlem River Drive, near 179th Street in NYC. Our poor smashed-up car gets towed all the way to the south side of Williamsburg. In Brooklyn. How does that happen? The Arterial Tow Program of the NYPD must have struck some sort of partnership with Knights, because I'm sure there were a billion other collision shops in Manhattan that we could have gone to. I won't talk about the fact that everyone at the scene, from the paramedics to the hospital employees to the guy who did the towing, that we could go pick up our car on a Sunday. Never mind that the fender had been knocked off, the air bags had been deployed, and the windshield was cracked. Never mind that your website explicitly advertises "24/7 towing and storage." Doesn't that imply that someone will be there to help us out when we arrive at the shittiest part of Brooklyn? Oh there was someone there. Some guy embodying the worst stereotypes of mechanics who couldn't give less of a rat's ass that, after going through something awful, we had trekked all the way out to Brooklyn. Oh, by the way, the Arterial Tow Program's dispatcher and I had a nice discussion, and by nice, I mean she was rude ("This is a police dispatcher, so no, I can't tell you the name of a cab company"), and I filed a complaint against the department right then and there. I will talk about this set of facts, and you can draw your own conclusions: before our crash, we had a battery installed that came directly from Toyota's manufacturer. After you "fixed" our car, my dad opened the hood and found a different battery, with corrosion around the positive and negative ports. One of your mechanics looked my dad straight in the eye, and said, "Yeah we put in a brand new battery." Listen, buddy, I'm no car expert, but a new battery should not have corrosion. Fast forward to two weeks later. Our car got stuck in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania. Just would not start, despite using jump cables and a damn Hummer. So our car gets towed this time to another mechanic, who says the "brand-new" battery is five years old, from Sears, and would have given out any day now. You know what? Here's the conclusion: you took out our old battery, put in a shitty one, told us it was new, "forgot" to put it on the itemized list because you're oh so generous, and took our money and smiled. I wanted to let you know that the whole time we were there, we felt as though we were completely at the mercy of your business. That is not how it should be. There was absolutely no transparency at how your specialist arrived at the final figure, and there were no discussions with us as to exactly what repairs were required. The upstairs towing department and the downstairs collision shop have no communication with each other. We were told we could retrieve our EZ-Pass from our car by a mechanic, and was then subsequently yelled at by the lady in charge of towing, because apparently, you need a driver's license, the car's registration, the insurance proof, and a notarized form from the car's owner (that would be my mom) giving express written authorization for, uh, my mom to go get something from our busted car. The lady in charge of towing seemed to make it her life's mission to make everything as difficult as possible. Listen, I wasn't the one who shot your puppy with an assault rifle, so don't you ever use that tone with me. I wanted to let you know that I am pissed. That after going through a car accident, my interactions with you made me wish I was still experiencing that accident. read more

The 90th precinct called Knights Towing to tow my car and by the time I got to it 3 days later, after they couldnt find my car at all because they gave each of our info to the wrong person, I was heartbroken. Knights Towing Co had ransacked the interior of the car and stolen $1500 in personal property out of my car, including a laptop. I am filing a report with the police and suing. horrible business to deal with. I needed to tow my car after a collision, I was informed that they charge $70 to tow and $4 for every mile traveled. The accident happened two miles away from their facility. Upon arriving two days later to claim my car the total tow charges exceeded $450. How? I was charged $100 for "hooking" the car and another $100 for "unhooking" from their tow truck. They've also charged me 3 days of storage fees when my car was there for less than 48 hours. Oh, and a few items went missing from my car. I feel that one star is too much to give. When I went to retrieve the car they had stolen all of our personal belongings out of the car including a gold bracelet that I had been calling them to secure for me since the second they towed the vehicle. When I told the evening dispatcher that I was afraid that the bracelet would be stolen he got angry and told me that this is a professional business and no one would touch my property. Needless to say, everything was gone and there were no answers. I will be filing a police report against this company and looking to sue them for repayment of what they stole from me. For $136.10, all they did is tow the car off the Cross island parkway. No other tow company CAN tow off the parkway. They apparently have an exclusive contract... nice scam. My car was towed there after an accident. When my insurance company tired to get the car, they refused to give them a price for charges, and held car now close to two weeks. They then hung up on me on phone and told me they are closed, after the insurance company asked me to talk to them, because they are not compiling with any sort of reasonable, legal procedure. This is clearly a scam place and no one should ever do business with them. Complete crooks. Zero stars. I'm also slightly scared writing this review that the owners might see it and send someone to "teach me a lesson." Over the phone, everything was in order - all my paperwork was complete and I was fully paid up. When I arrived to pick up my car at the lot, I felt like I was in a third world prison. There were about 40 people already waiting to be helped, and one useless sign-in sheet was sitting on a counter. The attendants were behind a one-sided glass window so you couldn't see any faces. An older man tapped on the window because he had a question, and a voice yelled back threatening everyone to "Sit DOWN or NO ONE would get their car!" It was mostly taxi drivers waiting, so I assume Knights works with the city to do all of the their Taxi & Limousine Commission tows. There were two employees working: 1. Rude woman checking all the paperwork from her iPhone. 2. Loud profanities guy who accompanied rude woman on her long cigarette breaks. I finally got my car after 4 HOURS, and in that time they had successfully released TWO OTHER CARS. I left feeling angry and sorry for all those people who would be there surely for the rest of the day. Many of them spoke English as a second language and their cars were being held hostage until they paid extra days' storage fees and produced the same documents over and over again. Creating a Yelp account just to warn people not to support this company feels like a lot of effort already, but I'm tempted to report them to the Better Business Bureau as well. read more

Went to claim a vehicle that one person said was approved for pickup with proper paperwork and then this woman named Maggie said the paperwork was wrong and refused to release the vehicle. Returned with the same paperwork the next morning and had the vehicle released. The place is creepy, the service sucks, and they treat you like garbage. Avoid this place of business, you can do better with AAA or similar. My vehicle was hit by a speeding driver on the GCP and I went to the hospital while my car was towed by this company. When I was released from hospital found out the fate of my vehicle and it was stored in Knights Towing yard. When I went to reclaim my property from the vehicle which was totaled due to the accident I had personal property and valuable from weekend shopping still in my car. When they granted me access to my vehicle they had broken into my car and stole brand new toys, sneakers and clothing from my car. Also they had removed parts from my vehicle claiming they were damage and items lost in the accident and that I should worry because the insurance company would be reimbusing me being that the fact my car was considered a totaled wreck. This place stinks of corruption at the highest levels, and blemish to the great city of New York.
