You can call your insurance company to confirm authorization and costs if you want to be certain. A healthy mouth equals a healthy body and I'm confident I'm in good hands.

Numerous pissed off calls later they gave us some crap excuses about coverage and sending "numerous letters" (none of which were ever received), no calls or emails about outstanding balances. And procedures could've been pushed back a month to when coverage reset and would've left us with no bill. 2022 these crooks did it again. After a call with Jamie, their secretary she informed me ON THE RECORDED LINE that she would reach out to insurance on remaining coverage about the upcoming appointment. They would only provide the care that was covered and the rest we would bump to a future appointment once coverage reset. Needless to say, day of procedure they do not inform us of remaining coverage, instead do everything on the appointment and at the end ask for $2000. FULL well admitting they hadn't even billed insurance yet to know what the final bill would be. They wanted $2000 immediately because they were FULLY aware they had provided more services than we had coverage with and intentionally did not inform us. After insurance, another $1000 bill. Not saying healthcare is free, but this company is out here to trap you to make themselves more than they're telling you!!!!!!!

Know that I have bad genes and have always needed fillings and maintenance on them. Dr. Gum, Toni up front, and the rest of her staff are always helpful and professional. I've never had to wait for more than 5 minutes past my appointment, and they're often ready when I get there a few minutes early. I've had a few hygienists, and I like them all. The office is modern and seems like they have up-to-date equipment. The rooms are equipped with TVs for distraction, but I always request them off. They're good at keeping me informed, telling me how long the procedure will take. They'll tell me what they're doing each step of the way if I ask. They're good at the numbing as well. I don't numb easily, and they always keep the procedure painless. I can tell Dr. Gum cares about her patients and her team. I'll keep her as my dentist for as long as I'm in the area.

And for what it's worth, I've never left a scathing review for any business in my life...but I believe most folks inherently trust their doctors and are at risk of being taken advantage of by Dr Gum with recommended fillings and surgical procedures that are entirely unnecessary and perhaps poorly performed. Context: For nine years before Angela Gum, I had one filling at my dentist. I brush, floss, and use antiseptic mouth wash 2x daily, and I drink more than a gallon of water per day. In three years with Angela Gum, I had six fillings, a crown, and was told that I "grinded my teeth (not true) and had me fitted for a sleep guard. (read: she charged me all sorts of money for things I didn't actually need) Finally, at this year's appointment, when I was nearly certain I had no cavities, I was told that I needed to come back in for three fillings, and that she wanted to see me 3x per year rather than the standard 2. This just didn't sit right with me, so I went and got a second opinion. This new dentist did a thorough review and assured me that I needed "no active procedures" and had no cavities. To be judicious, I asked her to take the most aggressive preventive care posture possible, and asked if she'd recommend any fillings, and I was told "absolutely not." Not only that, but this second opinion dentist asked me "how long I'd had the crown" and I told her two years, as Dr. Gum put it in two years ago. TL;DR on this...she told me that the crown wasn't placed correctly, she'd have guessed it was years older, and that we'd need to keep an eye on it. Given my own personal experience combined with other reviews I see here on Yelp, I'm confident when I am concerned for every patient of any doctor who exploits trust for profits. If you're a patient of Dr Gum and she's recommending any fillings, procedures, or other solutions, I'd strongly recommend you get a second opinion!

I've never had a dentist sit down and explain what is going on with my X-rays. I'm always left to trust and assume what I am told is the truth. I was traveling from out of town and the clinic was able to move some things around to squeeze me in. One of their staff came in on their day off so I could get a treatment before leaving town. We asked the Office Secretory to check with insurance company and get exact what would be covered and how much would be out-of-packet expense, and agreed the out-of-pocket amount would the only (final) amount we pay before we come in for the service, but after everything done and full amount paid, and when insurance decline some of their claims, they kept coming to us to ask for more money, regardless the previous agreement. As a matter of fact, when we asked insurance company, the insurance company keep saying they use the wrong code, I wonder if they were overcharged us or over-claimed, even though we had an oral agreement only responsible for a fixed full amount before start the work. I tried them out and I'm glad I did. Dr. Dey spends time with you and really gets to know exactly what you want. I have had some bad work done that needs replacing. I also need extensive work after losing a bridge. Since retiring my insurance is not the best. Dr. Dey even found a periodontist on my provider list that she consulted with for an hour and sent pictures to let him know what I wanted. I finally feel like I am in good hands and with someone I can trust.
