Over the past 20 years, as a patient of Dr. Miely, all of that changed. I actually look forward to going to the dentist, because I know that Dr. Miely and his staff are invested in my comfort and my health. I have never, ever left the office without feeling like I had just spent time with friends When I made the decision to (again) get braces, Dr. Miely celebrated every step of the process with me. After one of my two jaw surgeries, he called me personally to make sure I was doing well with recovery and, as has become common, to tell me, "If you need anything, let me know." In a world where doctors seem to be chasing schedules--or have to look at charts to remind themselves why their patients are there--it is a gift to be known and valued by someone who champions my well-being. At the end of my orthodontic procedure, Dr. Miely and I discussed veneers. After seeing the first 'mock-up' of the teeth, he invited me to offer feedback, which he used to revise the plan. It was clear that the process wasn't 'routine' but that he validated my voice (as I'm sure he does with others) in the process. After the preparation for the veneers, I took a photo of the temps which I shared with my cousin (a retired dental hygienist). Her response: "That guy is a genius.
