Just about as bad as a venue of this size can be. Much of the place has almost zero view of the stage! Sound is rubbish because it's an old warehouse and they did very little to improve it. I'm sure the staff are nice people but they probably aren't allowed to show that side when they are here. Only Warsaw and Terminal 5 are worse ( in NYC) read more

Great venue for a concert, I saw the Citizen 10 Years of Youth show on June 14th. They have some seating against a wall in the general admission area which is rare for a venue in my experience- unless you have an upgraded ticket. Multiple bars in the venue, good service. I looked online before the show and was planning on eating there when I saw food was available- but there was no food so I stayed hungry. Gender neutral bathrooms, helpful bathroom attendant giving everyone paper towels after washing their hands to keep the line moving fast and has gum, mints, etc to buy- bring cash to tip them!! Nice area for merch set up. 10/10 would see a show here again- just double check if food will be served or not before you enter! read more

I've been biting my tongue for too long about my experiences at Knockdown Center over the last several years. There is so much potential for this great warehouse space but their sound system is absolutely terrible. I've been to clubs and events all over the world and Knockdown just doesn't have the people with the knowledge or experience to deliver proper sound for a house or techno show. It's a shame because they are booking some good artists and making their music sound like a ball of mud. read more

My family attended the first night of the LCD Soundsystem show. LCD Soundsystem was incredible. However, when I go to a show I expect to feel safe. This venue and the security is not a safe place. Some individuals attending the show were smoking cigarettes openly as well as smoking pot. They should be going outside to do any type of smoking. Obviously security could care less what people bring in because illegal drug use was happening in front of everyone. It's like no one cared that people are snorting coke during the show. One individual was so high on something that they pushed a woman to the ground bouncing all over the place. The tension among the sober people and the high people was so high that we left for fear of a fight breaking out. We could not visible see any security watching over the safety of the attendees. The atmosphere was so disappointing because LCD Soundsystem is a GREAT group. read more

I've worked in nightlife for over a decade; I've seen the good, the bad and everything in between. This venue is massive and can be curated to any size event! But what makes this venue stand out the most is it's incredible security team, management and staff. Nicole, Head of Security, and her team really care about the patrons' safety and experience at the venue! Security is friendly; there's no yelling, aggressive behavior or man-handling like you might experience at other venues. If you're looking for an amazing night out, look no further. I attempted to go to a show this past weekend at this venue. I had to leave after only an hr there bc they were allowing people to smoke cigarettes indoors. The air quality indoors was absolutely horrendous. This is not only illegal but dangerous for those like me who have asthma. Damage was done to my lungs and they still hurt days later. read more

I love this space. I have only been to the Knockdown Center twice for the Bushwig event. Both times were so fun and the KC has such a sprawling space with a variety of environments that it could host a small unique dance space, a flee market of local craftsmen and artists, a stage outside for bands, and a main stage with a runway for various acts. Also, there were bars everywhere so you didn't have to wait very long at all for a beverage. My aesthetic leans towards industrial so this repurposed factory space hits all my favorite things. Exposed brickwork, open and exposed ceilings, multiple levels, and a lot of windows. read more

I won a free pair of tickets to a concert at the Knockdown Center and was pleasantly surprised by how enjoyable the venue made our experience! Organized staff and security, plenty of standing room, high ceilings, reasonable prices at the bar, and no lines for the ladies' restroom despite a full house! Seems to be a popular hangout amongst Gen Z looking to see up and coming artists. Wish more established bands and musicians would book this venue! Definitely a hidden gem in this part of Queens that needs more recognition. read more

Super cool cavernous venue to see shows. Awesome space, but there some things they really need to upgrade: 1) Getting a drink takes half the night. Their payment system is antiquated- a bill gets printed, you have to sign a receipt. The corner bodega has a more modern payment system of just tapping your card on an iPad! I felt for both the staff and patrons in terms of how much work it all was. It affects the coat check system too. Staff were generally quite nice but the system made everything incredibly slow. 2) the sound in the main space. The speakers are halfway back into the space. If you're not behind them, the sound is awful. Seems crazy to have half the crowd not get a good sound experience. I hope they can improve in these areas! read more

The security at the door throw away my epilepsy medication because the pills didn't look uniform. It was because my pharmacist gave me a slightly different sized tablet and I had a few from a previous prescription. They wouldn't let me check my bag with them or any sort of compromise. Without this medication I am high risk of a seizure. Very disappointing that a compromise was not possible, although it seems that if I checked my backpack and the medicine didn't make into the venue it wouldn't have been a big deal. read more

I love this space. On one hand, it's such a bummer to see how far we have to trek to get to some cutting-edge acts in a big venue with good sound. (Remember the North 6th Street days? Le sigh.) L train to Jefferson Street and either hop the B57 or take a walk past sketchy auto collision blocks, and suddenly - Knockdown! It's cool to see an old factory reclaimed as a party space. It's GIANT, and mostly left as is, with the addition of bigass speakers, bathrooms, art gallery, and a new basement space for extra underground sound. The lighting is awesome, and I thoroughly appreciate the lack of fog machines. Sound is great when the space is full, but bounces off the brick and glass otherwise. Outside in the summertime there's food and spots to chill. Around the corner from the giant main room are cool art installations, a must for artsy venues imo. Bathrooms are giant but lines can still get long. Some bars get long lines while others are easy pickings, so be sure to make a round of the whole space when you get there. I am glad to say I have been going to events in the nightlife industry and going to clubs since I have been maybe 14 years old, I am part of older NY vibes where people are just different. This seemed like a nice spot in Queens, a bit out of the way but depends on where you are coming from. The place to me was just starting to get more popular and rise on the map in the NY night life scene. Just possibly, 2 years ago or so there was a huge event here that featured the movie Coming to America being shown here but that was not my first experience with this club. For NYE, the year 2018, I was here for Bronx Princess, Cardi B for her NYE celebration. It was pretty wild, but got a late start. Cardi came out at 12 just to do a champagne toast but did not perform her songs until after 2 am. Overall, was still a great night and some nice vibes from the DJs before Cardi B performing her actual songs. When events are generally allowed back for concerts, hopefully this venue can keep going strong and recover from this blow to the night life service industry. read more

I nominate the Knockdown Center as New York's most exciting concert/performance space/layout in the last 5 years and the very worst in terms of sound quality, bathroom facilities and food vendors. There are so many great nooks and crannies you can explore while you're at the facility, but for whatever reason the sound quality of the 5 bands here at their "OctFest 2019" was virtually unlistenable...akin to hearing the sound of guitars, drums and keyboards tumbling around in a washing machine. OctFest was the KC's version of October Fest and while it did offer a super variety of craft beers, you had to pay a minimum of 7$ for what amounted to one large gulp. My friend calculated that an equivalent bottle of beer would've cost around $28. Then you had thousands of people fighting over a single bathroom facility with about 5 stalls and an equal number of urinals. (Later in the evening I stumbled onto a completely empty somewhat hidden, second bathroom facility with ample stalls and urinals that, for whatever reason, they chose not to advertise -- no signage, no ushers, nothing. Weird.) And last but not least: the food facility. There were two locations, with two single vendors ("Mission Chinese") serving hundreds if not thousands of people. Fortunately, I ate before I arrived. So looking at the long lines snaking around the facility and the poor service workers catering to an understandably angry crowd reminded me of news footage of tornado-ravaged people getting water out of the back of a truck. A few scuffles broke out. Not a good scene. The Knockdown Center has enormous potential, and to find it they'll need to get the right people running the place and a better understanding of concert crowd dynamics. Until then...I strongly recommend you avoid any event here that has music or attracts large crowds. read more

This place was awesome for the Turnstile show on May 22nd! The venue space was huge, cool looking and had places to sit and escape the madness of the crowd when you needed a break. Bartenders were great and prices, for a venue, were not terrible. I will say, they need better ventilation/AC for their indoor space as it got increasingly hot well before the headliners played. read more

I've been to a few concerts at Knockdown Center and I have no idea how they keep booking high profile acts. Their sound is terrible because it's an industrial space with no noise abatement, the lighting is almost nonexistent, drinks are overpriced*, and the show space itself is almost always way too big for the crowd. It's such an unpleasant place to see a show and I feel SO sad when a favorite band performs here instead of at one of the million better venues in NYC. With that said, I have gone to visual arts and mixed media shows at Knockdown in the past and those were always great (with the drink price caveat). They are super supportive of the local arts community and I assume have good booking/management, it's just the venue itself that doesn't work for concerts. * I get that venues are going to be a little bit more expensive than bars, but their pricing is closer to what you'd see at a baseball stadium read more

Came here for the Seven Lions show a couple weeks ago, and overall I felt it was a solid venue. Kind of a strange set-up for a show - it's long and thin looking towards the stage, with pillars/sound booths obstructing a lot of room/views in the middle area. However, the sound was decent and it was fairly easy to get close to the stage. There's a bar in the back that kept things moving the entire time. The bathroom is unisex (bravo, Knockdown!), and the line was insane... but that's pretty standard for most venues like this.The coat check was a sh*t show at the end - people shoving, no organization, and utter chaos. Thank goodness we decided to get in a line a couple songs early, but they need to figure out how to manage this better. Would definitely return for an artist I'm into! read more

This place was great!! I came here for the full moon festival (concert) which it was my 1st time coming here. The location was very easy to get to (my Uber had no problems lol). There were several different "rooms"-some being outside and some inside. There were several bars here and each room would be playing different styles of music. This place can easily be equated to an "urban jungle" type of feel. There was one major concert area, and serval different spaces outside. There were several seating areas around and small plates (literally snacks for food). There wasn't really much I could say about this place other than it is a great concert venue and was a great location for this type of event! read more

Amazing venue! Very cool, hip vibe with plenty of room. They have amazing artists and compared to other venues they are incredibly well organized for crowds. There's an entrance courtyard with plenty of staff to keep security and ID lines flowing smoothly. The bar is also very reasonably priced for beer and wine. The only downside is how out of the way this place is, but they do offer a free shuttle bus to the nearest train. Would def recommend and come back! read more

if I could leave zero stars I would. this venue hold 5000 people but it has not properly planned for that mass either in infrastructure or staffing. had to wait 40 minutes to be funneled through three separate scanning/ID/ticket stations, they manually scan every person with a metal detecting wand, and the bar situation is woefully understaffed. What's more, they don't use a card scanning tool so every single receipt has to be printed and signed! It's the most inefficient venue I've been to that I can remember. read more

The post-show coat check situation was so egregious, as one earlier reviewer noted, I felt compelled to open a Yelp account and write about it. The Nov. 10 Seven Lions show itself was a fun time, but the coat check was utterly unorganized. See uploaded picture: the masses converged to a table in the corner, a total free for all. You were fine if you were surrounded by chill people content to shuffle forward, but there's always belligerent/claustrophobic individuals who are won't to turn a crowded situation sour. The best part is AFTER you finally get your coat, you then had to wade ACROSS the sea of still-waiting people in order to reach the closest exit along the wall.. Winter is coming so hopefully venue management can make the needed fixes: dedicated lanes for lining up and exiting, instead of a having the crowd descend pell-mell upon a couple of corner tables. read more

No stars if I could rate no stars. DO NOT GO TO THIS VENUE! Hi there! Me and my friends went to see Regal last night at the Basement NY in Maspeth and quickly realized they were scamming people. We were a group of 6, and when we got to the door the first three of us bought 25$ tickets and they let us inside. The next three of us they didn't let in because they said my friends didn't "know" the dj. Noone in our group knew the DJ, so I politely asked for my money back so we could leave with our friends and they told us no refunds, even though I had only been inside for 2 minutes. So they knew we were together, made us go in seperately and then told half of us that we couldn't get in even after they just watched the other half buy tickets and didn't give us a refund when they didnt let our other three friends in. There were also a ton of people who bought tickets before the door and they turned away for absolutely no reason at all, despite them already buying tickets. They just kept reiterating the no refund policy and basically knew what they were doing. And the bouncer was stoned af, cold, unresponsive, and looked at us like yeah, "what I say goes and we just got yall for 75 bucks," DO NOT GO HERE read more

A converted warehouse, stripped bare and made into an event space. Big and open interior. Nice enough. Huge bathrooms. No lines, no waiting. Buffet style food served at the event I attended was decent. No complaints. So, why only one star, you ask? The event I attended, it's flyer said two hours of drinks. So upon prompt entry to the event , I make a beeline to the bar. Fully stocked bar it was. Spirits, beer and wine. I ordered two mixed drinks. The bartender prepares and serves them. I drop him a tip. He says, "Oh, it's only beer and wine included with this event". Um, you couldn't mention that prior to preparing the drinks. Douchebag. read more

A hidden gem in Maspeth. A bit far from the train but worth checking out. Huge event space with lots of different areas to explore. The venue is half indoors and half outdoors. Came here for a few different events, outdoor movie nights and indie art and hip hop shows. Nice crowd and good vibes drinks can be a little pricey although $15 for a henny collada and a bag of popcorn on movie night wasn't too shabby. read more

Went to a show at the Knockdown Center on Saturday night. A venue with a lot of potential, but they seemed unprepared for the crowd with lines absolutely everywhere leading to an overwhelmed bar and bathroom. Quality: The Knockdown Center was a decent concert venue. It is part of the new trend of using more industrial spaces for big shows. The sound system was excellent and there were good views of the stage even from far away. The bars however were not properly manned, causing massive lines, which was a theme of the evening. Quantity: Just the basics behind the bar. A big space, but not big enough for the crowd. Value: Tickets depend on show. Beers were in the $10 range. Ambiance: The Knockdown Center is located in Maspeth, Queens, just escaping the reach of Brooklyn. The former glass factory surrounded by garages has been converted into a multi-stage venue for bigger shows. It has a main room, several outdoor areas, and a smaller side room. The acoustics were excellent, despite the weird design. The real problem was poor coordination in terms of the crowd. Crowd: The crowd was too large for the event. Both the bathroom and bar were overwhelmed and the line to get in was absurd. Service: Unbelievably slow to get through security and the bathrooms were an absolutely disaster. Parking: The nearby area is extremely industrial, so it seemed like parking could easily be found. read more

Went to a Friday night show and it was amazing. Unique warehouse setting with an easily accessible bar. I love their industrial vibe. I also ended up losing my keys that night and went back the next day. The people working there were incredibly kind and were able to find my keys. I was truly grateful and impressed. They were just so accommodating. Will absolutely be returning! read more

I had so much fun at Knockdown Center, it's huge and the music is loud. Kinda a warehouse feel, but with lots of staff and organization! Make sure to tip the bartenders and security is TIGHT, felt hella safe :-) read more

Few weeks ago while we were at Knockdown Center dancing, someone stole my sisters phone and the entire team was super helpful. From security to the door to management. They knew what to do, offered us anything we may need, guided us through the process, and we catched the person who stole the phone and recovered it! Nicole and Steve were great and honestly saved our night. We party a lot and I come to this venue often, it was one of my favorite venues in NYC even before the event but now I am forever fond of them. read more

My favorite party venue in NY so far. This place is a gorgeous old factory (glass/window/door I think) with tons of space. I've gone here twice for Tiki Disco and both events were so much fun. The DJs and music selection were awesome and the crowd was really relaxed and unpretentious...just a bunch of people looking to dance. I arrived later in the day for both events and had no trouble getting in. The bouncers just smiled and pointed me in the direction of the dancing both times so I'm not sure what the other Tiki Disco review was talking about. Nice features of Tiki Disco included the tent over the dance floor. It's really hot in the crowd of dancing people already so the shade helps. The indoor bar is also a nice shady spot to take a break. There are also multiple bars to minimize lines and a shuttle to take people back and forth to the subway. Definitely one of the better orchestrated dance parties I've attended. :) read more
