The machines are on the older side, but all the ones I used worked very well! Also, the gym was very organized and it seemed like everyone put their weights back after use. The receptionist was also very kind and answered all my questions! Also, their prices are very reasonable. The gym does include parking in their memberships as well, and the parking lot is across the street (it is a municipal parking lot). Amazing gym!

Who would've thought that a child of then 5 would have such a rough year for their first real school experience with bullying. My son did, and it was really affecting his behavior in school and then eventually at home. I knew that he needed a positive place to release the stress a young 5 year old can feel. Within 3 months I've noticed such a big change in his behavior, he was walking around with a smile and less aggravated to attend school. He is in his 8th month this December and in first grade now and I no longer pick up an angry child from school. He is more confident, self assured and although it has gotten tougher for him he has stuck it through and made some friends he can hopefully build long lasting relationships with. What makes this place great besides the beautiful space and well kept dojo and bathrooms are the Senseis. Both Sensei Luis and Sensei Rahul are amazing with the kids. Disciple, structure and respect will be learned here and they demand it. They are serious and tough on the young ones, pushing them to their full potential. And on the other hand they are very playful and loving and give the kids a break with occasional games when they are deserving. The children really show interest to be here, they are ready in line and excited. I have seen some amazing students that they have molded in this dojo and only hope that Noel will also follow their footsteps. Glad to be apart of the BX Martial Arts family. I truly am grateful for my sons Senseis and have an immense amount of respect and love for what they do for our children. Keep it up!

Coach Steven has a wealth of knowledge in BJJ and MMA, learning from him has been a humbling and exciting experience. I have been training at Viking Academy since day 1 and I can tell you that it's more than just a workout. Larry and Steven have put together a great environment where people of all skill ranges can come learn, work hard and evolve. The Viking Academy also happens to be located in the best gym around; Mount Vernon Barbel, which is filled with the best strength and conditioning equipment. Whether your a seasoned fighter or a complete virgin to martial arts I would definitely recommend joing the Viking family.

They can meet you as early as 5am or as late as....whenever! Perfect spot for anyone wanting to improve their physique, recover from injuries or just plain improve your overall health ;) The gym is actually located in a medical office building within walking distance from the Metro North Station, so I actually took the train there after work (probably a 3 minute walk), but there is also a parking lot and plenty of metered parking (all free after 7pm) nearby. They give a free fitness assessment and one free training session just to give you an idea of their expertise :) Plus, there is a diner upstairs in the building, so you could probably grab a bite to eat after the workout. I love this place and would recommend their trainers to anyone! I'd strongly recommend my personal trainer there, Joseph Hunt, his knowledge on strength training and weight loss is awesome! Hunt helped me to tone up the extra 10 pounds I had gained over the summer and also corrected some painful back issues I had....mostly due to laziness and inactivity,lol. But he also focuses on medical exercise and Bootcamp training (small group exercise) for all ages and body types. Perfect for anyone who wants to be healthier for a reasonable price in a comfortable atmosphere....I'll be back to sign up for the Bootcamp training next!

You will always feel that you are part of a team and the motivation is constantly there to go longer, and harder despite what type of day you are having. The pros: Plenty of parking, small atmosphere, never have to worry about overcrowding, it is very clean so you don't have to worry about gross sweaty gym equipment, everyone is friendly, and you never have to feel subconscious about the way you look. Every time you workout you will get something different, and each workout will be an intense experience, leaving little room for boredom. The cons: Limited windows, so you may get tired of staring at walls while you workout and the locker room only has one available shower.
