Before the massage began, I repeated my request directly to the gentleman giving the massage and again asked for gentle pressure. After about 10 minutes of very firm pressure and vigorous technique, I spoke up a third time and asked not only for less firm squeezing, but for a much gentler massage technique overall. Unfortunately, nothing changed. The massage continued with the same level of vigor and intensity and was much more aggressive than I was comfortable with. Later, he began massaging my thighs, and I had to remind him that I had only requested work on my back, neck, and feet. Despite clearly communicating my preferences three separate times, neither my requested pressure nor my requested areas of focus were honored. At checkout, after I paid, the cashier and the gentleman who gave the massage both asked why I hadn't left a tip and asked if I would like to leave one. I was surprised to be asked directly and simply responded, "Unfortunately, not today." I left disappointed because the style of massage I specifically requested was never provided, even after communicating my preferences multiple times. I understand that everyone has a different massage style, but when a client clearly communicates their preferred pressure and treatment areas, I believe those preferences should be respected. I am sad to be moving away because it means no more regular Deep Tissue Massages with Daniel. I have a lot going on in my body and Daniel uses his knowledge and decides what needs the most work and gets to it. I always leave wishing I had booked hours more of massage. Regular massages help me feel better day to day and Daniel was key in making that happen. Book a massage with Daniel, you won't regret it! Bonus: BodyCenter is the only massage place in the OC area I found that takes FSA!
