I honestly wish I could leave two separate reviews. I booked a couples massage for my partner's birthday, and one therapist, Nikki, was phenomenal, attentive, skilled, and professional. Though my experience was honestly one of the worst massages I've had. My partner and I get massages regularly, so we know the difference between a relaxing massage and someone who isn't properly trained. When we arrived, it seemed like they had double booked, and I strongly suspect I was assigned someone who wasn't actually a massage therapist (possibly the receptionist). The entire massage felt like oil being rubbed on my back (for 30mins!) with little technique or pressure, even after repeatedly asking for adjustments. I considered stopping midway but didn't want to ruin my partner's birthday since his massage was clearly great. Nikki asked questions, checked in, and delivered what you'd expect from a professional. I was never once asked about pressure or comfort. It was especially disappointing considering I tipped generously upfront. If this was meant to give the younger girl more experience, I would have appreciated the opportunity to provide feedback afterward, but no one came out to check in, likely because payment and tip had already been handled. Nikki deserves 5 stars, but the inconsistency and staffing decisions made this a very frustrating experience overall. If you go, ask for Nikki and play it safe. read more

I don't ever leave bad reviews but I booked an appointment at 8pm for 9pm. Ate food next door, went to the bathroom and then was back at 9:04. Apparently someone called when I went to the bathroom - a group of 3 people who weren't even there yet just walk ins and they gave the appointment to them even though I had already booked the appointment because it was a group of 3. I stood around until 9:15 when the group came in, told them I already had the appointment but they took them instead. And said there wasn't anyone left for me. Terrible service. read more

I have been here a couple of times over the years and it was usually meh. Today I had lunch with my son and wanted to something nice with him so we stopped by to ask if they could take 2 walk ins. The front desk girl said yes. They could start one massage now and another one in 15 mins and that we would be in the same room. I said that was fine and paid for 2 one-hour massages. We get in the room and the woman asks me which massage option we would like and starts my massage. Shortly after, someone else walks in who I presume is to start my son's massage. But then a phone rings and they answer and some lady is yelling on the phone. Turns out they are not available and that 2 people had appointments for a massage had arrived. My Masseuse says that she can only do a 30 minute massage for me and no massage for my son. She rushes through what is supposedly my 30 mins massage, although I am pretty sure it wasn't a full 30. My son and I get dressed and head back out to the front and she asks how much I would like for a refund after tip. To recap I agreed to 2 one hour massages at a rate of $65 and paid $130 prior to going in. A 30 min massage is $45 and had I known there was only 1-30 mins massage available I wouldn't have agreed to the service. I felt forced into taking this crappy deal and she wanted a tip. I left a $5 tip. The lady tells me it's a bad tip and I ignore her. She's lucky I tipped at all given their screw up with scheduling and the circumstances. It's the audacity of asking for a tip when I was short changed on time, you were on the phone getting yelled at for the scheduling error, and then rushing through. read more

I brought a friend for a couples massage and we took our shoes off in the room and something thick stuck to our feet like sand. The lady came in and said that it was from the body exfoliation from the couple prior. I went back tonight and also experienced the thick residue on my feet from them exfoliating someone else's body. They don't clean the floor in between treatments. Olivia or livy was my massage therapist and she was using her cell phone during the massage. My wife went to get 1 hour massage (30 minutes foor and 30 minutes body) Their price is $50, which we have to pay first before going in for massage! We paid by credit card, the total charge was $52, they didn't explain ahead of time when they swiped the card that there would be a charge for using credit card payment! A $2 charge for covering 3% of $50 charges from credit cards company! ! Okay, moving on to after the massage session, my wife gave $10 tips to the massage therapist, she asked more money, according to her : tips has to be 20%, and my wife answered; this is a 20% of the $50 your price ! Still, she asked for "more additional $5" tips In the end, my wife gave another $5 and total tips was $15 Yeah they should let customers know in advance regarding the credit cards charge and tips has to be at least $15 not 20% !! read more

My boyfriend and I went for couples massages and had a decent time. Overall an okay massage, but that fit the price so we were okay with that. However, when we left an 18% tip we were laughed at, asked if that was all, and asked if that was only for one massage. My visit was in April, but I was so put off by the experience I wanted to temper my feelings with time before writing a review--if I was ever going to write one. My left upper back had been bothering me, but my usual therapist was booked out (and she charges more), so I was open to trying a new place. My sister had told me she had a good first experience at the Total Relax Spa location in Orange, so I looked up Total Relax Spa on Yelp to check out reviews and found they have a Costa Mesa location, which was closer to me, and they had a Yelp coupon and openings that very day. Pros: The therapist seemed enthusiastic and used elbow grease during the massage. She used a towel to carefully keep my shoulder-length hair (it was down) out of the way when I was on my stomach and she as working on my back. Cons: When I stepped outside the massage room to ask the therapist for clarification on what to keep on, if anything (clothing), we had trouble understanding each other, as she spoke little to no English. I knew then there was also no way to tell her what I wanted her to focus on (I had zero expectations at this point). She was on her phone outside the room for a little bit before coming in to do my massage. Later during the massage, talking seemed to be coming from her phone! Not sure what was happening, but I didn't appreciate the disruption. I felt like I was in one of those inexpensive reflexology foot massage places where everyone's being massaged in one big room and a worker could be talking on their phone. I didn't expect anything like that here because it cost more and I was being massaged in a private room. At one point when I was lying on my stomach, the therapist's abdomen kept bumping the top of my head. Also, she didn't use a bolster ever, so my left knee which has an injury was uncomfortable when I was lying on my stomach. The therapist was gruff with the rolling stool, hitting the wall with it and such. Despite all the elbow grease expended by the therapist, my left upper back was still bothering me after the massage. I booked an appointment to see my usual therapist a week or two later. It's too bad because it seems from other reviews that some people have had a good experience here. read more

This is my long term favorite massage place in Orange County! I've been coming here for about 3 or 4 years and have never been disappointed after leaving a visit. I've been bringing family members recently and they've only had the best things to say about their treatments here. The atmosphere is so relaxing, and all the staff members are so nice! I've gotten regular body massages here before. Pretty good. Yesterday, I got a foot massage for the first time here. Really not good They put me in a side/storage room which had wet linens hanging for drying, and the massage itself was so blah - just barely rubbing my feet for one hour. It was just so sloppy. Costs: $50 + I tipped $15. I'm just going to go back to my regular foot massage places - Lucky Massage and Green Massage. They charge much less - $30 - and are much nicer for their foot massage. My girl friend and I left our kids to our hubby's and we went in for a massage. Best one hour ever. My girl friend and I agreed both masseuse was on point. However, yesterday when I posted my review explaining my experience, this business immediately responded, apologizing for what had happened and offering a complimentary massage to make things right. Today, I took them up on their offer, and I'm so glad I did. I walked out of the spa today feeling completely relaxed, and the nearly disabling pain I was previously experiencing in my neck and shoulders was substantially reduced. In short, while no business is beyond reproach, the way Total Relax responded to my complaint was perfect. The business owner went above and beyond to make sure I received the same excellent service to which my fiance and I have grown accustomed to receiving over the years. The girlfriend and I recently had a visit to Total Relax Spa and came away pretty impressed with their service. The location is kinda random, located next to a restaurant and behind a gas station and carwash. However, there were ample parking spaces available. The space is fairly simple with a small lobby and rooms located on either side of an open space once you walk past the lobby. We had a couples room which included two different brand/type of beds and bars on the roof for Thai style massages. The therapists were quite good, although I will have to say mine did not ask for my preferences. However, her pressure was very good. Overall, I would have to say while some of the complaints from the previous reviews are true, we came away satisfied with our massages. read more
