(WASHINGTON PLACE APARTMENTS in Clinton Township)Important Notice: Think Twice Before Moving…read moreHere!!! My mom and daughter took the leap and applied here, paying 2 months of rent upfront, which encompassed cleaning fee and utility charge, amounting to roughly $2900. We're now a 2 weeks in, and this place has fallen short of resolving the issue. They haven't spent a single night in this infested property, and change is overdue. See below: 16590 Washington Square --Unit H Washington Place Apartments Clinton Township, MI 5/8/2026 Management Office Washington Place Apartments Clinton Township, MI Subject: Formal Complaint and Demand for Lease Termination Due to Severe Habitability Issues as a New Resident Dear Property Manager, I am writing to formally lodge a serious complaint regarding the unacceptable living conditions in my new leased apartment at Washington Place Apartments. Since taking possession of the unit on 5/1 and upon moving into the unit in the evening of 5/2, we started noticing roaches coming out of the sink and cabinetry areas that weren't noticed during the initial and brief walk-thru (upon request there is video). It is apparent that I had to stop moving my things into the unit due to this infestation. As an elderly woman with health challenges of my own, I am unable to continue and forced to live between family and hotels. This move has greatly affected my health, safety, and overall quality of life. The presence of roaches is not limited to isolated areas but is pervasive throughout the apartment, indicating a broader building-wide issue rather than a unit-specific concern. As a new tenant, I am entitled to a habitable living environment and the right to quiet enjoyment of my home. Unfortunately, these rights have been severely violated. This situation has also created a deeply personal hardship. My new resident (home) is intended to be a place of comfort and security; however, due to the infestation, it is unlivable! I am unable to safely have my great-grandchild over who's accustomed to seeing me watching her 3x a week, as she is severely disabled and particularly vulnerable due to her tendency to place objects in her mouth. This is an unacceptable risk that no tenant should be forced to endure. While I understand that pest control measures such as fumigation may be attempted, I do not believe that treating my individual unit alone will resolve the problem. The severity and extent of the infestation strongly suggest that comprehensive, repeated treatment of the entire building is required to effectively eliminate this issue. Given these conditions, I am formally requesting that my lease agreement be declared NULL and VOID, with a FULL REFUND without any further financial obligation or penalties. The apartment, as provided, fails to meet basic standards of habitability, and I should not be held responsible for conditions beyond my control. I request a written response within a reasonable timeframe (3 days) on this matter. If necessary, I am prepared to pursue further action through appropriate housing authorities to protect my rights as a tenant. See Dittrich W. Facebook for pics and video.

It's very quiet, clean and welcoming. It's actually feels like a single-family one-story home. It's very spacious and the huge 2 car garage is a bonus! The appliances are much smaller than we'd like though. The main tub and master bedroom shower are ridiculously very small, however; we are learning to live with these downfalls. No community is 100% perfect of course, however; we are glad to call Redwood our home. We had an option to move elsewhere not too far from here, however, due to the open floor plan with cathedral ceilings we chose here and are glad we did. The monthly food trucks are very appreciated for those nights I don't cook dinner (which is very few). The office manager, "Lonnie" and his team are very professional, friendly and business oriented. I love the way this office is ran. I have been a customer service professional for over 30 years, so I, personally appreciate it when I see others providing the same level of good customer service to others, especially my husband and I. The maintenance guy is absolutely the best! He is friendly, prompt and attentive. The turnaround time is stellar (1 day or less)! This sets this community apart from others, the wait time for maintenance requests at our previous community was 3-4 days. Overall, we are super satisfied living here, and plan to call Redwood our home for a long time. It's a lot of things we will never compromise on when living somewhere, some being: comfort, convenience, and quietness, and this is exactly what we found at Redwood :).

I am absolutely outraged by the handling of my apartment access on October 22 and the days that…read morefollowed. Maintenance entered my apartment without my presence or consent, despite me explicitly stating this was not allowed. I allowed it once because I was told scheduling a specific time was not possible--but this will never happen again. During this entry, a maintenance employee used a code that was not mine to access my apartment. When I returned, my personal code no longer worked. After multiple calls to the leasing office, a maintenance guy arrived (very nice I didnt get his name) and said the new code would work temporarily--but when I returned later, it still didn't work. I attempted to use the SmartRent app to avoid emergency calls, only to find I did not even have access, something the leasing office should have granted me. I was locked out until 7:44 PM, repeatedly calling maintenance with no response. The on-call staff, Keith (or Key), was shockingly unprofessional, dismissively saying "GEEZ" before hanging up. I had to leave my door unlocked overnight, creating a serious safety risk. The next day, I tried repeatedly during office hours to resolve the issue, again receiving no response. I called emergency maintenance 14 times, only to learn staff were at a trunk or treat event. I had to track someone down in person. Darrell eventually helped (Thank you Darrell) and confirmed this entire fiasco was caused by the leasing office never granting proper access to the SmartRent app. This level of mismanagement caused extreme inconvenience, stress, and serious safety risks. I have been locked out of my apartment three times, which is completely unacceptable for someone paying rent. I cannot recommend this property due to the unprofessionalism, lack of communication, and unsafe handling of resident access. The 2.2 star rating speaks for itself. update- Despite explicitly requesting that all communication be via email, I received an inappropriate phone call from Tina, the property manager for maintenance. During the call, she blamed me for not setting up my SmartRent password, even though the issue stems entirely from the leasing office failing to grant me access. Tina also claimed that Kyle came to my apartment at 4:00 PM to assist me, which is completely false, as I was not home at that time. Throughout the call, her tone and stateme nts were unprofessional, and I repeatedly expressed my dissatisfaction. I am also confused as to why bianca the property manager who I emailed --forwarded my email to Tina instead of adressing the issue, creating even more frustration. This mishandling has caused significant stress and inconvenience, and the lack of accountability and communication from management is unacceptable.
