I went for lunch and had the lamb kabob and Moroccan salad tapas (2 for 25$). It was plenty for one person and was so delicious. The flavors made my tastebuds dance LOL. I love Moroccan food and the quality and quantity here were perfection. The service was stellar. The server checked on us regularly and was always available. The manager came a few times to check in and make sure we were doing okay. The server made sure our food was exactly how we ordered it. I chose not to have the olive oil in my salad and the aioli in my lamb kabobs and she took the extra effort to make sure I was content. I definitely recommend both of my dishes. My friends got the butter shrimp, chicken kabobs, beef kabobs and empanadas and were raving about how delicious it was. Def will be back!!

From the Pulpo con Patatas, the chorizo Patatas, the goat cheese and tomato. Each dish was packed with flavor and little sodium! The highlight was the pollo pinxto. Massive chunks of chicken grilled perfectly over a bed of Moroccan rice. Topped with the albandigas on the side was pure magic. We finished our meal with a great recommendation from Mario. The crepe cheesecake was just the right combination and texture to finish a great night. The downside to this wonderful night was the drinks. The pear old fashioned was a bit watered down and the sangria is very sweet. We'll definitely be back with different tapas to try and drinks to stick to!

I ordered the CROQUETAS DE BACALHAU, which was interesting. Wasn't too crazy about it, but it's very hearty. I guess I just didn't care for the cod filling as much as I'd hope. The ARROZ DE PEIXE however was very delicious. Very flavorful. The MADEIRA BREAD PUDDING was good too. Also decided to order the POLVO COM BATATAS as well cause I loved grilled octopus and it definitely was a solid dish. The potatoes were great too! It's not part of the HRW menu but I really wanted to try it regardless and I'm glad I ordered it. Service was good, they always kept our waters filled, and packed up our food to go themselves which was very nice. Great place to catch up with friends because even though it was crowded the noise level was not too loud.

That said, the restaurant is still busy as ever. We ordered some of our usual favorites: grilled octopus (5/5), batatas bravas (4/5), piri piri BBQ chicken (3/5) and paella (4.5/5). The food remains very solid, and the house white sangria is still top notch. Unfortunately, the service really fell short this time. We made a reservation ahead of time for the main dining room, but when we arrived, the front staff seated us at a tiny table in the back, right next to a large, loud party of 20 people. The table was so small it couldn't even comfortably fit the paella we were planning to order. We asked if we could move to one of the booths, especially since there were a couple available and we noticed other party of two sitting in booths. However the staff declined our request so we ended up sitting on the outdoor patio instead. Unfortunately, service on the patio was generally quite slow throughout the meal. While we still enjoy the food at Oporto, the service was noticeably subpar this visit. With De Gama offering similar style of food along with overall better experience when it comes to service and parking, it'll probably be a while before we make our way back to Oporto.

The wife and mother-in-law (MIL)...I'm sure you can figure that out (Love her) adjourned (twice..more later) to enjoy an afternoon of champagne, vino, and charcuterie. Next shout is to Daniel (Good name. Not that I am biased) who went out of his way to accommodate M-i-L's dietary restrictions due to acute allergies. Well played sir. Upon their departure we dined...AND RETURNED!! The music selection included a bassist that evening which included the likes of Tool, Alice In Chains, Sublime, classic, contemporary, and all over the place music. Again. Fun. Lucky came to say hola as did both owners. So. What else can I say?!? I BS'd my way through some Greek (not kidding) had lots of wine, fun, and closed out the night. Yes. The wife and M-i-L did come here. Left. Ate. And then the whole Fam came back. Upgrading to a rock solid 5 well-deserved stars. See y'all soon I'm sure.

I opted for the high top right by the kitchen, and honestly, great choice -- it smelled amazing. Most people prefer not to sit by the kitchen with all the foot traffic but I didn't mind it at all. Nobie's is a house that's been transformed into a restaurant. One of the bartenders told me it's a 104-year-old house, and the whole place has very "house party" vibes in the best way. The music is LOUD. And it gets progressively louder as the night goes on, so if that's not your vibe, keep that in mind. But I was very into it. Lil Flip was playing when I walked in and it took me back to high school house parties. On shuffle were more throwbacks and classics: Ludacris and "Notorious Thugs" by Biggie. The chairs, however, were not my favorite. They're low-backed and kind of cage-like, with only a thin cushion, so they aren't exactly the most comfortable for a long meal. Started with a cocktail: the Remolacha del Corazón -- beet tequila, mezcal, watermelon (house-made syrup), lime and a tajín rim. You can hardly taste the mezcal, which I'm assuming is the point. I like mezcal so it would have been nice to taste it but the beet tequila is definitely the star, with the watermelon and lime adding a nice balance. Appetizer: Don't Worry, Brie Happy ($18). Brie, local honey, smoked grapes, toast. There was basically no local honey on my plate, but those smoked grapes?! They're topped with flaky salt while they're still hot and OMG!! The combination of warm, smoky, sweet and salty was fantastic. My only complaint was the amount of toast. There was a little too much toast for the amount of brie and grapes, so the ratios felt slightly off. Main course: Jamón With Your Bad Self ($45). Ibérico secreto pork steak, tonnato, shaved Brussels sprouts, salsa verde and almonds. I'm particular about pork, so I was taking a bit of a chance here, but this dish sounded too interesting to pass up. The pork steak was cooked perfectly and had some wonderfully crispy pieces around the edges. The tonnato underneath the pork was really good. It almost reminded me of a Caesar dressing and added this rich, savory element to the dish. The shaved Brussels sprouts were great, too, especially with the almonds and Parmesan. Everything worked really well together. Dessert: Olive Oil Cake. A house staple, and for good reason. A lovely way to end the meal. Overall, Nobie's has a really fun, unpretentious energy. Between the old-house setting, loud music and memorable dishes, it feels like somewhere you go to hang out as much as you go to eat. Just know what you're getting into with the volume and the seating -- this is not exactly a quiet, polished fine-dining experience, and that's kind of the charm.
