Delicious, creative meal with friendly and attentive service. We sat in the patio out back in June and it was a bit warm even with the fans so my preference would be to try to sit inside. Still it was fine. Enjoyed the gem salad, Nancy cakes, lamb tartare and wood grilled half chicken. Side of the beef fat sticky rice. Nancy cakes: yes I could eat these every visit. Nancy's Hustle is the real deal. Walked in with no expectations and left wondering how I'd gone this long without eating here. The Nancy Cakes are worth the hype, piping hot with that whipped butter and smoked trout roe combo that somehow just works. We also had the dumplings and the double cheeseburger on the English muffin, both excellent. The burger especially punches way above what you'd expect from a bistro. The vibe is perfect. Dark, relaxed, no pretension, and still feel like you're having a great night out. Michelin Bib Gourmand for a reason. This is one of the best restaurants in Houston, full stop. My friend and I came here after hearing amazing reviews. We started with the Nancy Cakes and the croquettes, which were amazing. The croquettes were so flavorful and hot, and I took them home for leftovers (they stood up well as leftovers in the airfryer). The cakes with the butter and the roe, it made every bite delicious. For entrees, we got the pineapple glazed halibut and then half chicken with fries and beef fat sticky rice. Everything was so flavorful and delicious. For dessert, we also had the sesame brown butter cookie and toasted vanilla bean ice cream. 10/10 meal. The ricotta cavatelli was light and zesty and the shrimp was cooked to perfection. A phenomenal spring/ summer pasta parmesan & pancetta croquettes were crisp to perfection and are a must try if you're a cheese lover like me. With so many restaurants to try in Houston, you really don't need to go back to any restaurant more than once. Nancy's Hustle is the exception and is on my regular rotation. The perfect spot to meet up with friends, or for a cozy date night with a loved one. Staff always goes above and beyond to make your experience special. The famous Nancy's Hustle absolutely lived up to the hype. Definitely the best out of the new American, small dish spots in Houston (in my humble opinion). The ambiance and service is absolutely phenomenal as well! We started off with the Green Flag, a basil based French 75, and a glass of Tempranillo. Sooo good. The infamous Nancy Cakes definitely met my expectations as well. Somehow they're light and dense at the same time, and the butter and roe are so flavorful with the light cakes. I loved them! The most memorable dish was the lamb tartare. I was blown away by the absence of the usual gaminess of lamb meat, which always scares me with lamb dishes. There was a bit of spice with the base sauce as well, and the charred sesame naan on the side was amazingggg. Definitely a favorite! The yellowtail crudo was a little bit spicy, a little more smoky, and very deep in flavor. Unfortunately we got this dish a bit later in the rotation so we were super full at this point, but I would definitely order again!! The uni crudo was definitely memorable, but probably my least favorite bite of the meal. Everything meshed together nicely, but honestly nothing really stood out within the bite. Probably wouldn't get this again, but I did enjoy it! The beef sticky rice was a side dish that surprisingly stood out! The toasted shallots and onions on top were delicious, and the rice was a perfect chewiness. It came with a fermented chili beurre blanc sauce that paired nicely as well. It helped that the sauce came in a cute little cow container! Finally, we had to get a unique dessert to finish off the meal. We got the Parmesan cheesecake with honey and pepper - this will live in my head forever. An unexpected savory sweet combination in a crustless cheesecake, with plenty of honey drizzle and peppercorns that balanced everything out. Went here the other night for the very first time! It's been on my list for a while!! Was recommended to try the croquettes and Nancy cakes. I may have a garlic allergy so I asked our server to help me pick out a dish food safe. She marked up the menu for me which was so sweet!! Such a good date night dinner! It's so hard to snag a reservation at this spot. Although we went on a weeknight, the restaurant was still full! It's recommended for the dishes to be shared family style. January 19, 2026 I live in Galveston and my friend lives in Cleveland TX , we met for dinner after this local event in the city. Nancy's is small,quaint with great attention to detail. Love the RR, too! Great wallpaper with hidden surprises. The owner is Jason Vaughn, who is also a Chef. I asked several waitstaff who "Nancy" was and the stories varied depending who you asked. Our waitress told us "Nancy" is the owners chicken, the mgr heard it was Chef Vaughn's "drag name!" Lol! So basically no one knows, really. My friend got the cheeseburger/FF with water. I got the "satin girl" cocktail (their version of a daiquiri) for food I got, roasted mushrooms with buttered chickpea purée and butternut squash tortellini. This was a place we had to check out after hearing about it and visiting their other restaurant. It's a smaller place so definitely get a reservation. We had about 6 people in our party, a nice size if you want a group big enough to order a little bit of everything. They have a small lot behind the restaurant to park in, but it's tiny so you may have to resort to street parking. The atmosphere reminds me of your typical intimate farm to table establishment. The service was good, they clearly help one another out. Now the food.... The food. Was. BOMB! There were so many items we ordered that were so delicious, it's hard to pick a favorite. The ribeye is a must. Normally, I'd opt tot do steak at home for a fraction of the price, but this steak was totally worth the price point and the cook time. So excited we got to try Nancy's Hustle in a group of four during a recent Houston trip! I love trying a bunch of stuff on menus like this and I'm glad that the style is shareable plates because pretty much everything we tried was phenomenal. Service was attentive and great from the beginning; we had a few allergies and dietary restrictions and our server immediately grabbed one of our menus and carefully marked it up to indicate what was and wasn't safe for us to order. We knew the Nancy cakes were a must but our server also helped us pick several other items and made suggestions on how to build our menu for success! My favorite of the appetizers were the Nancy cakes (so pillowy and light, and went so well with the trout roe butter!) as well as the poached carrot and leek, which was billed as something akin to a vegetable crudo. It was super tangy and refreshing! The bluefin crudo was rich and decadent but a little bit too salty for me. The gem lettuce was also excellent - loved the brininess of the anchovies and the tart vinaigrette. For larger plates we ordered the butternut squash tortellini and the ribeye, which came with the beef fat sticky rice. Both dishes were phenomenal; the sweetness of the tortellini was delicious, and the ribeye was perfectly medium rare and had an excellent char. The sticky rice was super aromatic and tasty. We were so full at the end of the meal but couldn't resist ordering some desserts as well. The parmesan cheesecake was super interesting and decadent but we thought it could've used something fruity to break up the richness a bit. The standout star of the show was definitely the pistachio pavlova. All the textural and flavor contrasts were super on point; I'd happily eat one all by myself. Imma tell ya what, you NEED to go try this place. Small parking lot out back for easy parking or plenty of street parking around the corner. The dinning room is cozy with tables, some booths and bar seating. I went with a party of three and we tried 4-5 different plates. Started with some drinks all pretty good, I tried the gin and bourbon one called colder room which I really enjoyed, it is fairly bitter so be carefully if you don't like that. Also had the moving target which was pretty good, just a lil too floral for myself. For appetizers we had the lamb dumping which are the best thing I've ever had, you must must try this...idk what flavor it was but it's it. The Nancy cakes are a must try, I wasn't the biggest fan but the butter/fish egg garnish brings a unique taste. The croquettes were really good, let them cool down cause the cheese just flows out. After hearing so many good things about this restaurant I was so excited to try, and it did not disappoint!! They have a small, rotating menu are dishes are designed to share. I loved getting to try so many different dishes! For four people, we got the gem lettuce, nancy cakes, oysters, butternut squash tortellini, pork chop, and burger. Everything was delicious!! The nancy cakes and burger are two of their more popular dishes, and I definitely understand why! The pancakes were so fluffy and the butter with fish eggs made it the perfect savory sweet appetizer. Is this the most overrated restaurant in Houston? After being on my "To Try" list for an unacceptable amount of time, I finally made my way over to Nancy's Hustle. I was lucky enough to snag a seat at the bar with no reservation. I arrived about 30 minutes into open and there was already a wait list. I suggest getting there early or making a reservation if you're not a solo diner. The interior is nice and intimate, with low lighting that doesn't work well for photos but definitely for a cozy dinner. The set up and music reminded me a little bit of 93 Til due to the decor. I started with the duck dumplings and the Nancy cakes. I wasn't expecting it but they offer half orders which is great for a solo diner who wants to try multiple things. Both items were delicious. The dumplings had a nice savory sauce with some texture from the peanuts. These were great but probably my bottom of the list which is saying something. I would only say this because they reminded me a lot of the hot oil wontons from duck and bao so at that price point, you might as well get more. The Nancy cakes were pillowy and savory and made a great vessel for honey butter and roe. I even used a bit to dunk into the leftover dumpling sauce. I suggest eating these as soon as they hit your table. I was trying to savor my bites but the cakes benefit a lot from being nice and hot. It's not the most ground breaking dish in the world but it's done well and I would definitely call it a must order. I could have eating a full order of it alone. My main dishes is where my mind was blown. I went with the roast chicken and half order of the gem lettuce salad and fries. This might be the best roast chicken I've ever had in Houston. Chicken can be a hit or a miss because sometimes, there just isn't much flavor. This was absolutely not the case here. The chicken was juicy and seasoned to the core. It even heated up well as left overs without being dry. The chili sauce on the bottom was flavor intensified and as I swiped my chicken through the pools of sauce, I thought to myself "overrated where?!". The gem salad caught me by surprise. I'm not one to stay away from a salad at a restaurant because they typically do them better than you can make at home . Nancy's Hustle solidified this opinion. The salad was wonderfully briney and savory. The lettuce was crisp and covered in the herby shallot dressing that grabbed my taste buds. Topped with anchovies and pancetta for a nice salty touch. So so good. The fries were the perfect side, crisp and not too potatoey (yes this is a thing). I traded in the aoli for some ketchup because that's just my thing. I concluded this wonderful dining experience with a dessert. Buttermilk ice cream with cornflakes, black berries and honey butter cookie. This dessert was a lesson in balance. Every component was present , sweet, salty, crunchy, cool. Each bite had something new to offer and combined into a perfectly executed dessert. As a cocktail, I tried their tropical drink. I don't remember what it was called but I know I could have drank about 7 of those. This was a great dining experience. We got an early reservation and were promptly seated. Not sure if it was because it was my birthday and they were being extra nice to me or what. But I will take it! We ordered apps first: Nancy cakes so soft and fluffy with that creamy roe topped butter. Parm and Pancetta croquettes were oozing inside with warm cheese. The exterior was nicely fried, cannot go wrong with fried anything. The majority of the table ordered a burger. The bread was toasted, all the flavors of the sauce and seasoned pattie made it so easy to finish. We also tried the butternut squash tortellini. Also a great seasonal choice. We tried the Parmesan cheesecake. We weren't sure what to expect but it was a little more on the savory side rather than sweet side. There was a fried crisp topper and the cheese was whipped but no bottom crust. Mixed feelings. I continued to eat it because I hate to waste food. Nancy's hustle was absolutely delightful from the food to the service to the ambience. When we first walked in we were a few minutes early of our reservation and they had someone come to us while we waited to be seated to take our drink orders so we had something to sip while we waited to be seated. The drinks were thoughtfully curated with a good balance of flavor and booziness. I am into gin and got to try both the green flag and the spring drive. The green flag was very basil forward but not overwhelming it actually complemented the gin and lemon notes quite perfectly. The spring drive was not sweet which is right up my alley and super refreshing in its chilled glass. My date got the pocket sand and thought it was kind of dull in flavor ---essentially just tequila and cranberry. The double or nothing was pleasantly heavy on the mezcal but not overwhelmingly smoky. The food was not a disappointing follow. The chilled oyster were fresh and easy to eat. The halibut is a very summery dish with the pineapple glaze and cucumber side but it was actually cooked perfectly tender and the flavors were well complemented. Nancy's Hustle was on our list of Bib Gourmand restaurants to try in Houston. For those who don't know, Michelin Bib Gourmand is awarded to restaurants offering high quality, delicious food at a reasonable price. We had heard a lot about their Nancy's Cakes and because I love a good pancake, I was excited to try these. Ambiance: we came here with a party of 3 on Sunday night at 7 PM and the restaurant was packed. We got seated in the patio area which ended up being ok because the temperature was very mild. I would highly recommend a reservation when coming here. We couldn't get a Saturday night reservation so we came on Sunday. The patio area has music playing from a speaker and it was mostly a playlist of 80s music. The patio also has fans on each corner to keep the air flowing. I wouldn't recommend sitting outside on a summer night in Texas. Parking: there is a small parking lot in the back of the restaurant that is shared with the businesses in the back. We came at night on a Sunday and the vet was closed but during the day, the vet has reserved parking for their customers. There is also free street parking around the restaurant so parking is not a hassle here. Service: the service was very good. They had a couple of waiters/ waitresses serving the patio area and we were well taken care of. Our meal was spaced out nicely so we weren't bombarded with all of our food at one time and they gave us new plates between appetizers and main entrees. Our water glasses were always full and we didn't have to ask for anything extra at our table. Drinks: we got several glasses of the Sauvignon Blanc which were good and $15 a glass. We also got the Mood Lighting which had vodka, lavender, pomme verte, and lemon. I would recommend this drink if you like vodka. It was light and tasted very good. Food: we ordered 3 starters and 2 main entrees all to shared. Chilled Oysters: the chilled oysters were $17 and came in an order of 4. The oysters are marinated in escabeche which tasted like Barbeque when eaten. It tasted like a barbeque sauce oyster so honestly was not our favorite oysters. If you're an oyster lover looking for a unique flavor, order these. If you're a traditional oyster lover, I would skip these. Shrimp dumplings: the shrimp dumplings were $18 and came in an order of 5. They were topped with beef and basil and had a nice sauce. These were actually very good but my complaint with these were that they were so small and only came with 5. We ate these up in 5 bites but it felt like for $18, it should've came with a little more dumplings to justify the cost. Nancy's cakes: these were $19 and came in an order of 4. It was paired with butter, smoked trout roe and chives. These cakes were light and airy and the roe and butter worked well together. I get the hype around this dish. Order these for sure when you come here. Pineapple glazed halibut: these halibut was $36 and came with a big filet. It was served with a banana pepper yogurt and grilled cucumber. Halibut is my favorite fish of all time and the fish was cooked well but to be honest, the yogurt sauce was off putting unfortunately. It didn't pair well with the fish and overpowered the fish. Not our table's favorite fish of the night and would honestly skip this dish at that price point. Sourdough Capellini: this pasta dish was the star of the show. It was $28 and came tossed in garlic, fennel and crab meat. The crab meat parried so well with the pasta and we were left wanting more. The sauce was light and had a nice garlic flavor without being overpowering. Only complaint again was this dish was very small for the price. But I would order this again if we came back. Overall, Nancy's Hustle had good food, good atmosphere and a lovely environment. I just wish they weren't so pricey especially for the size of the dishes we got. They had some unique flavors and some were awesome and some didn't work. I would come back to try the burger and get the Nancy's cakes again as I've heard the burger is very good. Don't expect large serving sizes here so order appropriately for your party size. Try it out for yourself but make sure to get the Nancy's Cakes! read more

First off I loved the ambience. Drinks were a bit ny prices but good. Food was just a blast. We ordered the octopus (2.5/5 only cus too many potatoes in that dish), yellowfin was delish, dumplings were good also and the main course the chicken was cooked perfectly. Came in for a Monday night dinner. Ambiance is super chill and great mood setting for date, girls night, or solo! We sat at the bar and the bartender was super attentive to us. Finally came back to try some new items on the menu and man everything we got was insanely good. We did not have a reservation again but we were able to walk in and were sat in 30 minutes on a Friday night so the wait was not bad. The restaurant has plenty of indoor and patio seating. If this pineapple crust Halibut is on the menu you must get it! The fish is cooked perfectly and there are so many flavors and they all goes well together! The cheeseburger is full of flavor, juicy and delicious. I love the english muffin as the bun just makes it more elevated. This one has been on my radar for quite a while. Nancy's Hustle has received a lot of acclaim, including national attention. It is arguably one of the most famous restaurants in Houston right now. I stopped by on a Sunday evening for dinner. I have my friend Tiffany J. to thank for this. She relentlessly checked Nancy's website until a reservation at a decent hour opened up. And I will say that this new American restaurant lived up to the hype. Ambiance (5/5): When a restaurant has elevated food, I'm often worried that I'm not going to enjoy the sometimes stuffy and strict environment that comes with fine dining. This is not the case at Nancy's Hustle. I wore shorts and it wasn't a problem. In fact, the staff at Nancy's is casually dressed. It's not unusual to see hats, face piercings, etc. My type of place. Sophistication without the pretentiousness. Service (5/5): When you go to an upscale restaurant, you have an expectation that the service is going to be on point. It certainly was here. Our waiter was attentive. He offered recommendations. He was friendly. He checked in on us. To the point where he was always there to fill our water glasses when they got half empty. A job well done. Drinks (4/5): I was trying to decide whether I wanted to drink wine or a cocktail for my meal. I opted for a cocktail. Nancy's has a nice list of craft cocktails. Not a huge list, but large enough where I was deciding between two options. I wasn't there for the drinks, but they did complement the meal nicely. Food (5/5): We started off with the infamous Johnny cakes. Tough to describe, but quite the experience. Thicker and smaller than pancakes. With more of a savory taste. And topped with cultured butter and roe. Beyond delicious is the right way to describe them. The menu changes often, but these bad boys will always be on the menu. From there, I had the cheeseburger, which is served on an English muffin. You'll get two thin smashburgers on a toasted English muffin with lettuce, tomato, cheese, and pickles. A classic burger of sorts minus the bun and they do it well. The burger was cooked just right. The veggies were fresh. The cheese melted just right. It doesn't come with fries (which is unfortunate), so I ordered an appetizer: the potato and pancetta croquettes. Sure, I could have done a side of fries, but I went with something a little more elevated that was still potato-based. The croquettes melt in your mouth with a nice burst of flavor. I've had a good number of croquettes in my life, and these were at the top of the list. If you're looking for an excellent meal, where the service matches, with a casual ambiance, Nancy's Hustle is your spot. I can understand why they have received so much acclaim. read more

I've been excited to try this place. #1 you should definitely try getting a seat inside! Such a cool atmosphere for an intimate setting or just to experience the kitchen. Patio is lackluster and practically open to parking lot. Service was exceptional and the hostess was accommodating and so friendly. Food was so great. Nancy cakes were buttery and soft well balanced with the butter. Pasta was pretty good but honestly flavors paled in comparison to the pineapple glazed halibut. This is probably the best complete balance of flavors on a fish dish that I've had in Houston. The halibut won me over. As a whole, it was a 5 star experience but I could see other choices that might have lowered my impression a bit. Definitely want to come back soon! read more

I've been to Nancy's Hustle more times than I can count, and it's one of those places that just works--date nights, out-of-town guests, or when you want to impress someone without feeling overly fancy. This time, I was hosting a friend who'd moved away before Nancy's even opened. He had his heart set on a steak... until we saw the market price was over $100. Out of the question. I steered him toward the real headliner here: the cheeseburger. But first, we ate like we were trying to taste the entire menu: -Yellowtail crudo with fig, sunflower seed, bottarga - light, silky, and bright. -Escarole salad with Texas peaches, dukkah walnuts, crème fraîche - peak summer flavors. -Nancy cakes with cultured butter, smoked trout roe, and chives - like savory pancakes but elevated to luxury status. I feel like the roe and butter really take it to the next level. -Chilled green beans with black garlic gribiche, ajitama egg, and basil - tangy, herby, our least favorite item but still very good. -Iberico pork jowl with muhammara and farm tomatoes - rich, fatty, and perfectly balanced. And then... the cheeseburger. Not just any cheeseburger--Kate Upton's favorite burger in the world. The Astros were mid beatdown 14-1 by the Red Sox(gross) so I had bring up how Justin Verlander and Kate Upton would come here when he was playing for the stros. She told the New York Times it's the best she's ever had, and no one I've met can argue. Perfectly melted American cheese, pickles, red onion, aioli, all on a brioche English muffin that's somehow buttery and sturdy at the same time. It's not trying to be flashy--it's just right. And for $18, it's a much better call than a $100 steak. Nancy's Hustle is one of those rare spots that feels like a neighborhood gem but delivers like a destination restaurant.
