    Artichoke & Spinach Dip
    Gary F.

Solid choice for dinner if you find yourself in the Portola/Blairsden/Graeagle area. I met a couple high school friends to catch up a little bit. I've only been here a few times since I now live out of town... but every time I visit, I appreciate the interior - I really like the look! We started with spinach / artichoke dip as an appetizer... thumbs up all around the table on that one. There are actually several appetizers on the menu that look good - it's always tough for me to choose - but if you just wanted to drop by for a happy hour nibble, I'd say most people would be covered. It'd be fair to say that apps are one of their strengths. I had a caesar salad, and it was good! Pretty standard caesar, but I'm amazed that many restaurants manage to screw it up by drowning it in dressing or whatever. None of the common mistakes here - nice fresh, crisp lettuce... good dressing and imo the right amount - not too heavy, not too light. Just right. One of my friends had the Chicken Parm and the other had Shrimp Scampi - both reported goodness! The dishes looked great, but I behaved this time and kept my fork to myself. I had the salmon - one of my "go to" dishes - and it was good as well. Yes... we had dessert! There were several good options, but we decided to share the cookie "mess". Good balance with all ingredients... and for something described as a "mess," it was plated quite well! Definitely high on my list of possibilities when I'm in the area!

A nice little restaurant in a small little town. It has a very mountainous vibe to it. Exposed wood interior, dark wood exterior. The menu has plenty to choose from. You can go in here for a quick bite or have a really nice date night. They were quick to greet you at the door and they could accommodate a group of eight no problem with not that much notice.

Absolutely ridiculous policy and some of the rudest staff I've ever encountered. I want to start off by saying Jodie, please pick another profession because apparently serving people bothers you THAT badly. Went to the bar hoping for a quick drink, something I've done at countless restaurants without an issue. But apparently, at this place, you're not allowed to order drinks at the bar. That's right. A fully stocked bar, seats open, bartender standing there... and you're told you can't order a drink unless you're seated at a table. What kind of logic is that? Bartender was horrible, nothing but outright rude. Server Jodie made our meal so uncomfortable given the circumstances. Rushed us out of there yet our party was spending a grand at their business. Extremely rude/combative/non-welcoming employees, and the information on the door is untrue. Seating is NOT available at 7:30 as stated. We came in with a 10 person party and it was nothing but a mess. Hire a more respectable staff. There are too many great restaurants in this city to waste time at one that treats customers like an inconvenience. Avoid this place unless you enjoy being talked down to and told you can't have a drink at a bar... in a restaurant with a bar. Makes no sense. ***You should teach your catch phrase to your own employees: "It is nice to be important, but it is important to be nice"***

We loved the vibe and environment of the grill!! We called to make a reservation and were quickly seated. The service was good on a busy Thursday evening. We loved our dinners which were filling and flavorful.

    Oven Roasted Salmon. SO GOOD!!

My taco was a little dry, and I only ate half of it, but not enough to change the 5 stars. JJ and his Mom were so nice. Jj is all over the restaurant making sure everyone has what they need. I didn't even know this place existed since I had last been back to town. It was an accident to find it, we were going for a trusted and loved sandwich at Full Belly Deli next door and were happy to see it there. We came in during the week for trappy hour, where we had the most delicious oysters, shrimp, and chowder. Plus some really great beer and wine. We liked it so much, and wanted to try more of the oyster types they had so we went back on Friday afternoon to learn they don't have the oyster deal on busy days. Which totally makes sense, it's an awesome deal-- half a dozen for $15. So on our second trip we tried the ceviche, crab cake slider, and hot butter lobster roll. All delicious and fresh as well. I have nothing but good things to say about the food and staff. The only thing to be aware of is the dining area in the shop is pretty small, but if too full the tables outside of FBD could be used. Next time I'm in town I'll be back.

We ordered the following (HH) Half Dozen Oysters- Absolutely fresh and delicious 5/5 (HH) Trappy Hour Hawaiian Poke Bowl- Surprisingly this was delicious. Tuna was well marinated and seasoned.5/4 (HH) Crab Cake Sliders- This was great, all crab meat in the crab cake.5/4 Connecticut Lobster Roll- The lobster was fresh and sweet. The portion size of the lobster roll was perfect for the price. 5/5 Service was great and friendly. They have plenty of parking. Highly recommend giving them a try if you're in Truckee CA.

The Alfredo was very runny, we ordered it for kiddos and they wouldn't touch it. The entire dish was left minus two bites. We shared this with our server, again charged full price and 9 dollars to split the dish, That was untouched. Paying 125 dollars for that food and no alcohol seems a bit insane. There was no offer of a different dish or improvement to the dishes we had. We have previously had a great experience here in other years, not sure what happened this time.

I ordered the 1 dozen oysters, clam linguine, and house salad. Oysters -- 7/10 The oysters were really fresh and shucked right in front of you, which was definitely a plus. They were a little too big for my liking and had a creamier texture than I prefer, but overall they were good. Clam Linguine -- 7/10 The linguine was solid. The portion was decent, and I liked the combination of clams, lemon, garlic, and Parmesan. Nothing that completely blew me away, but still a good dish. Might pass on the parmesan next time because it clunked up as it melted in the dish. House Salad The salad was actually pretty good and surprisingly large for a house salad. Fresh lettuce, cucumbers, tomatoes, onions, olives, and plenty of croutons. Overall, everything is prepared fresh right in front of you, which I really enjoyed. The oysters being freshly shucked definitely added to the experience. The wait wasn't terrible, and if you're an oyster or seafood fan, it's worth stopping by while you're in Tahoe. A Perfect 25th Anniversary Celebration!…read more My husband and I recently visited Fifty 44 with some friends to celebrate our 25th wedding anniversary, and we were absolutely blown away! Whatever the new chef is doing in the kitchen, it is AMAZING. For our appetizers, we started with the Ahi Tacos and the Sweet Chili Wings. Both were outstanding. The tuna in the tacos was incredibly fresh and silky. The wings were perfectly crispy and had just the right amount of flavor without drowning in sauce--exactly how they should be! For our main courses, we ordered the Halibut and the Roasted Chicken. I can honestly say that the roasted chicken was the best I have ever had.
