Pitched as an "open-air street food destination designed to promote the collective culture of Hartford", I was really excited for the second round of this gathering. But with so few vendors, I left wanting more. The featured tastes were food trucks that offered pizza from New Haven Pizza food truck, Puerto Rican cuisine from Samba's, tapas from the Mercado gals (really tasty) and finally soups from a local vendor. With their headquarters right next door, Hartford Denim Company was in full force. With an array of equipment, maps, cassettes, knick knacks as well as a small introduction of apparel up for sale -- they by far had the biggest presence. Brothers Crisp had a small presentation of their shoes. The live music was entertaining, and the DJ had decent playlists. Caral Restaurant provided libations with their full bar. Other than that, this was it. Altogether, this was just ok. Parkville has been a source of huge potential for some time, and I am hopeful that next time this event happens, the rich source of creativity and community will soon be tapped into. More specifically: a bigger repertoire of market vendors and food trucks to try.

More packed here than any of those other places. I was (and still am) a bit confused... I guess the whole building is known as "Tilton & Cook Market Place" but each floor is a different owner.. or rather it's a business that rents out space to vintage/thrift stores. On the first floor I was told there were 5 different owners, but it's really hard to figure out whose stuff is whose and if you're entering another "store". Just remember where you got stuff. There is also a place to eat and relax on the first floor which is pretty cute, but I didn't look at the menu cause I wasn't hungry. People there were pretty nice. You really have to go digging around here (or in some areas). I was only able to get to the second floor... I think I was there for about 2hrs... there is just so much stuff! (I didn't even finish the second floor). From my understanding, each floor is its own "shop" (except for the first floor). But no one seems to have their own name... just "Tilton & Cook Market Place" or "Tilton & Cook Corp". Make sure to bring lots of cash... no one in the building can take credit/debit. And at last, the days and hours for these shops are all the same. I could be wrong on a few things here, but this is all what I gathered and understood. Im definitely gonna have to return. Such a great find!

Each vendor has a cute little setup, which is nice for browsing, but the pricing? Definitely not flea market pricing. As a reseller, I'm always on the hunt for deals, and there just wasn't any room here. Most items were priced at full retail--or even higher in some cases--which kind of defeats the purpose. Yes, some of the stuff is old, used, and vintage-adjacent, but nothing rare enough to justify the markup. If you're just looking for a weekend wander or want a quirky spot to kill time, it's fine. But if you're a picker, collector, or someone who knows the value of what you're looking at... this probably isn't your gold mine. Personally, I won't be rushing back.

The building is HUGE, and literally jam-packed with individually owned sections (I want to say "booths" but that's not completely accurate)... each containing completely different kinds of items. If you're a collector, there's a good chance you'll find something to add to your collection. Be sure to peek at all the photos I added to get an idea of what can be found. Many of the "booth" owners hangs out near their offerings. It felt like a little community in there and most of the people were friendly. We saw 3 dogs, Two seemed happy and friendly, and one was in a carrier with a warning sign, who was miserable and scared and growling (can only assume he was in that too small container because he bites, out of fear). That poor caged dog was the only bad (horrible really) thing. Hopefully someone there will see this review and find a way to give that small puppy a more humane way to spend his day. It really was sad and disturbing. Overall I'd say that The Flea Market at the Crossing is worth checking out at least once, especially if you're looking for an interesting way to spend an hour or two. Bring someone 50+ with you and watch them remember happy times spent with their grandparents. From the glassware and kitchen tools to the kitchen table in my photos, I found myself remembering he things my grandparents chose for their houses. We didn't buy anything this time, perhaps we'll return one day.

I went two weeks ago and I would definitely recommend it. There were all kinds of vendors including people who were there selling yard sale stuff, artisans selling their crafts, and people selling brand new items. The parking is free and admission is free so you have nothing to loose! It's basically a huge field with rows of vendors, there's plenty of space to walk around and the vendors have plenty of room to set up- you can take your time looking around at merchandise and not feel cramped. As for the merchandise itself, everything was super reasonable! Most of the clothes were $1 a piece or less, one vendor had brand new tshirts for 50 cents. One vendor had brand new drug-store type stuff including soaps and shampoo, but I got a brand new package of Goody brand elastics, 50 cents an Essie nail polish, 50 cents and a Boston Bruins headbands for $1. I was leery of the nail polish (which is why I only bought one!) but it was perfectly new and worked great. Can't wait to go again!

Negotiations saved me some money, so definitely haggle. Plus wear good shoes, because you'll be doing a lot of walking. Fortunately, it was a sunny and warm day. It's a really just nice to look around and see the variety of stuff. I can imagine a rainy day being a drag to go around. So the markets consist of a bunch of separate adjacent sites along Route 20. We went to Brimfield Auction Acres, which is the OG spot. Had to pay $5 to park there but being in the center of it all was worth it. Shelton across the street is the second oldest, so we went there as well. We might've wandered into one or two others at the end, but there are so many more vendor sites. The vendors and the selection of items vary, so some may think it's junk, others think it's treasure. Just do a "fly-by" around the tents and find one that interests you. Don't forget, there are a lot of more hidden things being sold, so it may take a bit of luck to find something. My purchases varied: from a Sinatra vinyl, to a painting of a 18th century frigate, to a cheese knife, to an old small Christmas tree decoration from Denmark, to packs of hockey cards from the 90's. I saw some other pretty interesting things, including a Continental Army cannon from the Revolutionary War, which was a little more than my wallet could handle. If you're hungry, there are a bunch of food trucks and some eating areas. Bathrooms are mostly porta-potties. Parking and admission vary from place-to-place. I think most places don't charge though.
