Review #900: This place looks and feels like a ski lodge nestled on the foothills of Talcott Mountain State Park. The Hublein Tower can be seen clearly. We went on a Saturday (February) afternoon and it was pretty busy but we were able to snag a table. They were playing reggae music, the fire was going, beers/cider/wine were flowing; a fun and chill afternoon. They offer so many beers from all different breweries! I didn't really know what to expect before going and this place was on my "to check out" list. I was pleasantly surprised. I was happy they were kid friendly because we brought our two little ones. I saw some people eating pretzels and we got some delicious buttered popcorn to snack on. The kitchen offers wings, chips/salsas, lobster rolls, bratwurst/kielbasa, burgers, etc. They have food trucks onsite, but when we were there (early afternoon) I didn't see one yet. I can't wait to go back during the summer/fall because their yard looked fantastic. They had a small stage, picnic tables, and fire pits. For recreation, they have disc golf, Cornhole, etc. In the summer, they also serve ice cream. This place will definitely be one of my go to spots to chill! read more

This is located at an old golf course under Hueblin Tower. Way under, although there are probably trails leading up to it. Parking is on both sides of the street, and it gets PACKED. I think I got the literal last spot outside of handicapped. The Talcott Collective is behind the gold course building, which is now something else I forget . They have seating inside and outside, lots of picnic tables, and a lot of places for small children to run around. Dogs are welcome outside and of the three or so there, were all well behaved. I didn't try the food because the kitchen opened at like four in the afternoon. There was also a food truck outside. It looked like typical bar food but the small children loved it. read more

This was the first time at this venue. It hasn't a large outdoor and indoor facility. We were this night indoors. The atmosphere is very open with high tables and high stools - some of the stools are available with backs for greater comfort. This night it was open mic night and there were a variety of guitarists/singers performing throughout the evening. The facility has their own kitchen and the facility was able to provide a variety of appetizer bites- burgers- personal size pizzas- hotdogs and salads available for cost. There were plenty of choices of beverages alcoholic and nonAlcoholic. All of the food could be ordered via your phone and paid through your phone. We were a party of 12 and we had a great time!! read more

I had been wanting to check this place out for a while, so my expectations were definitely up there. I went during a happy hour (no live music), and overall... it was just okay. The vibe was chill, and the setup included both indoor and outdoor seating. It felt more like a casual hangout spot than a destination, very chill. It was like a Parkville Market or low-key brewery, but without its own beer or signature vibe. The bar only had one bartender, which made for a super long line so I ended up skipping a second drink. I do not even remember what was on their menu but they are supposed to have food trucks. The day we were there the truck was very late so we did not have that experience. We had popcorn and hot dogs. Great, fresh popped popcorn! I did notice a lot of kids running around outside, which as a parent, I appreciated. It's good to know this is a spot I could bring my kid on a sunny day and still enjoy some adult time outdoors. One major con? The bathrooms. They were in the basement, and the whole setup was kind of weird. Think padlocks on doors, maze-like hallways... Would I go back? Talcott Mountain Collective is an expansive venue on the outskirts of Simsbury with plenty of space for people to watch a live band indoors or outdoors, enjoy a beer or two as dusk turns to night, engage in banter with a wide assortment of clientele, and most importantly, meet other dogs. Also, if you have kids, this is probably one of the best places I've seen to provide a fun space for adults while still ensuring that is has a kid-friendly vibe. On this evening, there was a fun live band playing a set of covers outside. I had a couple of beers, and a few people came up to the dog to say hello. So did a few dogs and they were all friendly. I did not try any of the food trucks (which rotate) or the Two Sisters ice cream that was getting rave reviews from people in my neighborhood. I've made a note to come back and try this allegedly amazing ice cream. There were two minor negative experiences: 1) alcohol service was somewhat mismanaged (issues with kegs, issues with card readers) and 2) there were zero water bowls for your furry friends so plan that second part accordingly if you plan to stay for awhile. But none of that should take away from the overall experience which is overwhelmingly positive. read more

I've driven by the Talcott Mountain Collective zillions of times and thought I'd give their $20 lobster roll on Tuesdays a try. The lobster roll is traditional Connecticut version with hot lobster with butter on a toasted and buttered hot dog roll. This also came with a cup of pretty good slaw. The lobster roll was served hot, lobster was fresh and delicious with mostly claw meat. A fair deal for $20! The lobster roll with a Diet Coke came to $23.50 Stop in to the Talcott Mountain Collective and give them a try. read more

Very nice ambiance for a Saturday around 7pm! Live music ( I wished they didn't had a cover charge) , very nice beer draft selection ( they have my favorite grapefruit flavored beer) and even better, an ice cream place next door! This place had been on our to do list for a while. But bad weather had always given an excuse. Then on a recent night with a great band, we went. It was full of people. Young and old. Toddlers and dogs. I mean everyone was here. The formula is a mix of tons of beers and drinks, food truck and food, and great music in a wonderful outdoor and indoor setting. I got oysters and a great Hefeweizen beer to enjoy the warm summer eve. We then got a Bavarian pretzel and wings to wash it down. All were typical good pub food. Service and friendly and they had a big staff to handle the crowd. As the evening went on and bugs got more numerous, we headed inside to play some pinball and talk with friends. As an old country club it has great space to socialize. Our first visit wasn't our last. read more

The beer selections are not the largest in the area compare to other local places near by. Given the incredible scene of the sun setting on fall colored leaves on Talcott Mountain and the variety of food options at the Collective, I wasn't too surprised that it was so busy on a Thursday night in the fall. You can park in the lot across the street if the main lot is full. We ordered food from two of the food trucks and a pretzel from inside. The food was pretty good, and the pretzel a bit salty, but the ambiance is what it's all about here. Note that the vegetarian chili mentioned online doesn't seem to be on the collective's menu when I saw it inside.For dessert, I'd definitely recommend checking out Two Sisters on the opposite side of the main parking lot from the collective entrance. read more

I want to love this place... And the amount of times I've gone will say so too, but- the management seems to really be lacking. The building itself smells like a litter box, the food is mostly non-existent on weekends, and the food trucks can be greatly lacking or too slow. Although it's located in an area that is full of families, they have many kid-free events where people are asked to leave with children despite spending a lot of $$! The live music played inside can be so loud that it's hard to carry on a conversation with the people at you own table. This place has such an opportunity to wow the area, but it really has gone downhill pretty quickly. Hopefully things turn around! read more

"Open up your eyes now, tell me what you see It is no surprise now, what you see is me" (Lennon & McCartney) What did I see when I walked into the building that now houses the Talcott Mountain Collective? I saw a big difference from the last few times I was there. Back in 1999 and 2003, I was there for Bar Mitzvahs at the old Tower Ridge Country Club. Tower Ridge closed in 2019, and the space it occupied was just reborn as the site of  the Talcott Mountain Collective. Needless to say, the space is unrecognizable from what it used to look like. The 75 acre property is now a four seasons indoor/outdoor entertainment experience with a huge open interior room that houses two bars and fireplaces, a music stage, table games, and a ton of seating options. We saw one good sized group celebrating a one year old's birthday party, and I saw a pipe smoker and a cigar smoker by one of the outdoor fire pits, shooting the breeze and swigging away at beers. Outside the big glass windows we could see a patio with chairs and fire pits, a food truck (I Know a Guy from Harwinton), and a disc golf course. The bars serve a very impressive list of rotating beers, mostly from Connecticut breweries. I had a nice $6/12 ounce Workhorse Lager from Hamden, CT's Counterweight Brewing. All together, they offered 18 different drafts plus cans and bottles, wines. hard seltzers and ciders, bourbons and whiskeys Besides the food truck, they offered some in-house food choices -pizza, chili, nachos, quesadiilas, brats, and Bavarian pretzels. We split a huge pretzel ($10) served with mustard and cheese sauce and enjoyed it a lot. I have been here for happy hour drinks many times but on Tuesday I finally splurged and got the lobster roll! It comes warm on a toasted bun with just the right amount of butter so it didn't get soggy and stuffed full with tasty lobster! I can honestly say it was one of the best I've ever had! Even better on Tuesdays they are 20$! Served with a delicious slaw and potato chips. Highly recommend it (between 3-5pm) with a glass of house Chardonnay and for $25 you have an excellent meal! I was introduced to this place on a wonderfully sunny Saturday. Walking in I was shocked to see Andechs on the menu. I visited the monks in 1980 while bartending south of Munich, and have been searching them out for years. I've been a big fan of Talcott Mountain collective since it opened several years ago. It's a beautiful space, has great drinks, live music and offers food options. However, my experience today was really negative. Not only have they started charging a $10 cover just to come on the property, but do not allow any outside food or drinks. Even though my family laid down a bunch of money on beer and food from their restaurant, we brought a few snacks for our kids who are picky eaters. I was chastised by an unaccommodating staff member. Way to kill the vibe! I had to take my kids to the parking lot to feed them something. Won't be coming back. read more

My brother and sister-in-law were in town visiting from Germany and we were looking for a place to kill some time on a Saturday afternoon (including kids 9 years old and 10 months). We'd planned to go mid-afternoon but on the day of we noticed they weren't open until 4:30 (glad we saw it), so we pushed our plans back. Its not really well marked from the street so kind of pulled in to the lot based on a guess from Waze. Breathtaking location as you walk in with the mountainside. I'm sure it would be doubly beautiful in the fall. Unfortunately as we walked in it started raining, so it was a mad dash for tables inside, but we found one and ordered beers, popcorn and pretzels. As we were talking to the bartenders they let us know that at 6:30 (it was 5:20) they'd be collecting a $10 cover for a band coming on at 7 and anyone under 21 would have to leave. We were glad for the heads up, but bummed our plans would have to change and that they were essentially only open for us 2 hours on a Saturday. The rain stopped shortly and we were able to go outside and play cornhole and let the kids run around on the hill and pavilion. This was an absolutely perfect spot on a fall day, especially after a hike to Heublein Tower - come down the hill and take the view from the other side while you enjoy a beer. Very dog friendly environment which we love! We were in complete awe of the space and the views. This will absolutely be a new weekend spot for us, especially with my husband being an avid disc golf player. I've heard of Talcott Mountain Collective, and have been wanting to check it out for a bit. I finally went last weekend. I really enjoyed this place. They've only been open since December. This is a really nice multi purpose space by Talcott mountain, so no doubt the views are stunning! Adults, kids, dogs, who knows maybe deer too can play and run, you can bring your own outdoor games, or they have some for use, such as cornhole. There's a variety of food trucks that come on different days. On Sunday, Square Peg Pizza truck was there. I know first hand they make incredibly tasty pizzas! There's were plenty of comfy chairs and fire pits burning, for a very comfy and cozy evening. You can sit on the patio, on the grass, or inside. The inside has lots of large windows, so the sun shines through from the outside. There was a band playing, we sat inside to listen to them. We ordered beers and pizza from the inside. They have typical bar food, or next level food if you're getting it from the food truck. They have a nice variety of beers from a variety of breweries. Poorly managed. Sadly it seems this place is going downhill. Piles of trash outside the entire time we were there. Beer was flat. Interior was dirty and run down. 1 bartender and 1 person running food. 15-20 min wait just to order food or drinks. What a lovely, fun place to spend the day. Finally checked out Talcott Mountain Collective after hearing about it on Facebook a few months ago and thought it was a great venue with plenty of outdoor seating, a great draft list, a nice albeit limited food menu, and options for games. They also have live music on certain days of the week and are great about keeping their website and social media up to date with upcoming events, food trucks, etc. Today there was a taco truck that had a handful of taco options (3 for $13) and rice bowls. We ordered a few tacos and weren't necessarily blown away but they were certainly decent. The canned cocktail I had was reasonably priced ($9) and was delicious. The staff was INCREDIBLY nice - the woman working was so kind and conversational. She really seemed genuine as opposed to that fake "customer service" type of niceness. All in all it's a great place to relax, grab a drink, play a game, and enjoy the weather. Really glad something like this exists reasonably close to home. read more

My date and I had the most fun at Talcott Mountain Collective! Having only opened a week ago they really have their act together! First, they serve several different craft beers. I don't remember the name of the one I had but it was delicious! They also serve domestic and wine. They also have a light snack menu and free popcorn. The inside is plentiful with boardgames and such and a fireplace. Outside there are picnic tables fire pits and of course the disc golf course. Better check out Talcott Mountain Collective now, because this place is about to explode onto the scene. So what is Talcott Mountain Collective? It's a bar, it's a disc golf course, and it's probably the most exciting new place to open in the Farmington Valley. The space itself is incredible. It's a gigantic open space, surrounded by floor to ceiling windows, that has been carved into many unique and cozy seating areas. You can sit at one of the two long bars and enjoy their incredible selection of local beers, or settle in at the other bar and sip a bourbon or whiskey. You can hang with a group at one of the many high top tables or find a cozy place by the fire. Service is from the bar only, for food there's a simple menu with options like pizza, giant pretzels, chips and dip, and chili, but there are plans for food trucks once the weather warms up. The view of Avon Mountain and Heublein Tower, through the massive windows, is tremendous, and right now with the snow, you will feel like you are at some fancy ski resort. The vibe at the Collective is welcoming and relaxed. If you want to play some classic table or yard games, there are plenty of them spread about both inside and out. (although the recent snow fall kind of eliminated the outside games) Outside there is plenty of seating and fire pits. I imagine the spring and summer will be incredible here. The bartender I spoke with was really great, you could tell he was passionate about the Collective. If you can't tell by this review, I am obsessed by this place. Wifey and I were looking to host a small gathering here, but decided not to due to the combination of a lack of vegetarian/vegan foods offered on the menu and this businesses practice of not allowing outside food in. I came here on Thursday night for a happy hour with some friends after hearing this new place opened up. I hadn't realized it was St. Patrick's Day but was happy with the themed food and happy hour specials. There was a bagpipe group playing out front when we got there which was super cool to see and watch. They did move inside which I found way to loud for an enclosed space, we weren't even able to have a conversation. But luckily they didn't play for too long. They were great, don't get me wrong, but it was just a bit too loud for inside. The specials were great. There was plenty of wine choices, beer options, and other cocktails. Talcott Mountain Collective is an absolute gem in the Connecticut brewery/bar scene. The beer hall sits on a beautiful property that also has frisbee golf on the premise, perfect for a day of fun that the whole family can enjoy. The outside sitting area also has a ton of firing pits and heaters which make it nice even if it's a bit chilly. The inside is open-concept and has plenty of activities including blocks, foosball, and occasionally live music. There are also tons of TVs around to watch games on. The beer selection is exhaustive with a particularly large amount of really tasty German beers. We ordered a pretzel which proved to be a perfect compliment to our beer. If you find yourself here, I would recommend you try something new because everything we had was spot on. The staff was friendly and gave us different recommendations each time we went up to order a new beer. Moreover, the facilities were clean and inviting everywhere we went. Talcott Mountain Collective is a must-stop whenever you're in the area, and is the perfect spot to watch a football or soccer game - I cannot recommend this place enough!! read more

Really great beer selection and open space with plenty of seating. However I strongly suggest you do NOT play the disc golf course. I've never had to pay so much for disc golf. $15 per person and we brought our own discs. The course is not yet fully developed, there are no physical score cards and it's unorganized with very tall grass. Not looking forward to the tic check later. read more

Stumbled upon this place while driving to the talcott preserve hike. This place is a really pretty local inside area with some interesting beers and wines on tap. They also have rotating specials of food and performers most days of the week. When it's nice out, they have a large patio with picnic benches, and a outdoor stage where you can sit With the beautiful talcott mountain in the background. You can even see the tower on top of the hill. The course seems like it used to be a golf course, but it is now a disc golf destination and I'm sure that is fun as well. read more

I'm a little unsure of how I feel about my experience at Talcott Mountain Collective. The venue is pretty big and can accommodate what seemed to be more people than the bar and kitchen could handle. We went on "food truck weekend" which sounded great, but when we arrived, one of the 2 trucks had a long line, and the other was closing up already. My friend's daughter wanted ice cream so we followed a big sign that said "ice cream this way" ...down a hill and around the building to a closed ice cream stand. We then went inside to see if there was anything good on their regular menu. The line was again very long, and we eventually ordered drinks and 3 big pretzels to share. We were given a buzzer to wait for the pretzels. We waited....and waited...and finally inquired if they'd forgotten us. We were then told it would be an hour for the pretzels. So we got in the long food truck line in hopes of having something to eat eventually. The food truck was starting to run out of food also but we got some tater tots, fried plantains, and our pretzels were finally ready. Aside from the food situation, the band area was nicely set up and there were plenty of tables and chairs. We got to listen to "The substitutes" while enjoying a nice evening outside. But when we inquired about playing Cornhole, we were asked for a credit card which was a turn off. This seems like a great place to go for drinks and to enjoy live music in an outdoor spaced out area... But I don't think they are equipped to also sell food when there's a large crowd. Maybe stick to more food trucks or a separate line for food for faster service for those wanted to just get a drink from the bar. There's definitely potential here read more

We were so exited to go to the october festival on sunday oct 9 and invited friends to meet us there around 5. The website said that the music would be from 5-8 (possibly longer as the group usually plays longer). However they stopped playing around 6 !! when we asked them why they said the were asked to come earlier on sunday. when they were there on saturday !!! It was so disappointing as one of our family members birthday was tuesday this week and this was our celebration for her. We especially arranged our plans around the music entertainment which was suppose to be from 5-8. I just want to emphasize that people make plans based on what is advertised on your website. Would have been an easy 5 stars except for one kinda BS detail.. I'll start with the good, though. Gorgeous scenery, even on a cloudy, gloomy day. Beautiful views and vibes, lots of great outdoor space makes it a perfect place for families, friends, and large groups to gather for a good time. They had yard games, a food truck, and a band was setting up inside. We got our beers and headed back outside to join our friends. When we went back in to get a second beer, there was suddenly a door man asking us for $10 each. We explained we had already been there for a while - we hadn't just arrived. Apparently that doesn't grandfather you in and everyone has to pay this fee at 7pm. We were a bit upset as it had just turned 7pm and we definitely would have gone in to grab another round before that time, had we known. The guy argued that they "made an announcement," however that was only done inside the establishment, so no one outside heard this. Rather than paying $10 each just to go inside to order another beer, we opted to leave for a different establishment for our next round. That part just rubbed us the wrong way, more like the principle of it because we were already paying customers looking to give them more business. Anyway, besides that, it was great! read more
