Went back today for lunch after our exploratory visit last Saturday, Only 8 of us plus driver for this trip. Weather was perfect and there was plenty of space for us; they told me that Thursday lunchtime was the best for a group. Most of us sat at one of the round booths with two eating outside. Most purchased their lunches from Small State Provisions with the Jambon Beurre the most ordered. Others inside had the Salmon Toast or Spicy Roast Beef. Outsiders ordered from Twin Beaks and had the Caesar Salad Fried Chicken Wrap. Everyone enjoyed what they had and all commented on the size of offerings and great price level. Cafē Pausa served most drink orders. They were amazed at the service and truly astounded that there was free water! Many commented they when they had family visitors at the retirement community they would ask to be taken there for lunch again. A very successful day which will be put on our schedule to come back as a group in some months to come. They all felt very welcome which is not always the reaction to a group of elders coming for a lunch date. Stopped for lunch, loved the atmosphere and inside was great with all the heat and humidity - got a specialty blueberry cobbler espresso drink that was fantastic. Gastropark just keeps getting better and better. Last night (ok, it was 4:30, I'm an early bird) my wife and I met with some family for a happy hour (HH). Absolutely no one was outside but a few people were in the building. We started with some of their $2 HH margaritas, which were delicious (offered with or without some spiciness). 3 of us ordered the smash burgers and I liked mine so much it's going to be a danger to have a cheap, freshly made smash burger too close to home. My cousin nabbed some beef empanadas from the MamaNena truck and she said they were awesome. As we were rolling out for the night, a sushi making class was all set up inside (reservations required). There were plenty of tables and chairs outside as well as inside. Restrooms were available. The food trucks were parked outside; Smetana, Grassroots Ice Cream, Hindsight BBQ, and East-West Grille on Wheels, were there. Inside, there was a bar that also served hot dogs and various of other foods, Small State Provisions (baked goods), and Alvarium Roasting Company (coffee). The GastroPark was a bit different than what I expected but I enjoyed it quite a bit. Located in what appears to be a less traveled corner of West Hartford, the GastroPark itself was a lot less fancy and quite a bit smaller than what I was expecting. That said, it didn't need to be either of those things to be great in its own right. There are a couple of businesses located inside the GastroPark itself. One is a bakery (Small State Provisions) and the other is a coffee vendor (Alvarium). Next to those is a more expansive bar that serves beer, hot dogs and smashburgers. I had an IPA and a smashburger. The latter was quite good albeit tiny. This one had a thick layer of pimiento cheese adding a second layer of spicy richness to the burger. If you are looking for just meat, cheese and bread, then you'll love it. If you like more ingredients, they do that as well. Outside had quite a bit more seating and a lively band. There were two other food trucks (neither operating on a weekend morning) and a clothing vendor (also closed). So perhaps it is best to visit a bit later in the day if you're looking for more options. Overall, the GastroPark is a pretty nice space that can serve multiple purposes for a variety of customers. It's definitely worth a look while in West Hartford. read more

Gastropark is a great place to hang out with friends and family. Gastropark has an indoor and outdoor space and they also have a variety of ever-changing food trucks at the park. They have a selection of cocktails, craft beers, and wine. I haven't tried any food from the food trucks but I had a drink called the Painkiller. First time at GastroPark and I loved it! They have rotating food trucks every day and I tried the special platter at Hindsight BBQ's truck which included smoked Turkey breast, lolli-pop lamb chops, bedazzled coleslaw, and (they ran out of the Mac and cheese so we substituted for their) French fries. I just realized while I'm writing this that they did not give me my cornbread, which is a bummer but I'll give them benefit of the doubt that they forgot. The food was delicious and seasoned well. They had plentiful outdoor seating, and a table with swinging chairs which was super fun. They also have indoor seating which is air conditioned for hotter days along with a bar. Awesome place to hangout, bring a book to read, or just have a good drink! Food is served inside and outside through a few food truck options, although their availability is limited. The 2 times I went earlier in the week only 1 had been available, but it was delicious either way. The decor of the place is great and inspired by Jurassic Park movies, which is awesome and the bar staff is very nice. Gastro Park and their rotating selection of food trucks has quite a fan base, including my family, me, and our pups. Generally there are three trucks each with big gracious, smiles just waiting to serve. Inside the Gastro building (converted auto shop, guesstimating circa 1920-30's) housing their full scale bar, Perkatory Roasters, and Small Plate Provisions. The restrooms are clean and well maintained. In chilled or wetter weather they have tables and sharing is encouraged. Back to outside, between the building and rounded-up row of Foodie Trucks and pea-stone beach! Picnic tables, swing seats, oversized wire spool tables, and plenty of leaning space to eat, drink, socialize, and play some games. We have rented some outdoor space for a 30th birthday gathering on their upper terrace, equipped with additional tables, seats, and a fire pit. Gastro Park is extremely convent for us to visit. Their friendly vibe for young ones, older, and fury ones, has made this our favorite goto for light bite (sometime heavy bites), beverage or two, and a fun social environment. read more

GastroPark is fun local space that hosts a variety of food trucks. This is the home of Small State Provisions bakery and Perkatory Roasters coffee. Inside is also a bar, with local beers, wine and cocktails. They also host local artists work every other Sunday of each month. They even have live music on some days! This a very inviting space! There's a table here with swings for seats, you can play corn hole and bring your dog and your kids. It's a great place to meet friends and support local food vendors, and or artists, depending on the day. Very cool spot in West Hartford with a fun concept. It's got a brewery type vibe with a nice patio area outdoors with various types of well thought out seating areas. A rotating selection of food trucks are parked adjacent to this area and serve food for lunch, dinner and into the evening. Inside is additional seating and a bar area. Occasionally bands will play on one end of the room. I love that they promote original music here. The food will largely depend on what food trucks are there. Seems like two different ones during the week and three on weekends. They seem to be well curated for quality and variety though. I've waiting for nice evening to finally check this space out. I was finally able to go last week. It was a Thursday, and there was live music - a man playing the guitar. It was nice! The atmosphere is very laidback, and the space is nice. I ordered a fish taco from the Hot Taco Street Kitchen truck and then a chicken sandwich and Mac and cheese bites from Craftbird. You can go inside and order local beer and cocktails. Their cocktail menu was so unique! I ordered one made with apricot and vodka and it was so refreshing. How can you go wrong with a a food truck part when you have options for everyone! Today we chose Hindsight BBQ and Lobster Tails food truck. Just an fyi, the gastropark is home to many food trucks and you never know which truck is going to be there. Hindsight BBQ: ordered the Brisket Philly Empanadas and the Pull Pork with Mac & Cheese.. The empanadas was a great choice, the meat had great flavors and the shell was just right not too doughy. The pull pork and Mac & cheese was another good option but the bbq sauce was just ok. Lobster Tails: we had the CT Lobster in a cup. I was a little bit hesitant ordering lobster from a truck but the lobster was great! No need to drive to the shoreline when you can find Lobster Tails around the corner. This was a perfect outdoor seating option on a beautiful summer day. They had 3 food trucks serving food but it varies during the week which ones are there . Our waitress was great! Also it was 7 of us and all Of us enjoy our drinks. We ordered from the Craftbird food truck . Ohh my ! We were all satisfied, the had GF options! The chicken sandwich was huge not dry and tasty . The wedges were fresh and nice and crispy! After this morning and other recent visits, I'm happy to upgrade my Gastropark score to Five Stars for four reasons: 1. The morning combination of Perkatory Coffee, Small State Provisions Bakery and Hot Taco Street Kitchen Food Truck is winning. Multi-location Perkatory is towards the top of Central CT coffee shops. Small State Provisions is small and doesn't have a huge selection, but everything they make, from craft sourdough to scones and cookies, is outstanding. The breakfast burrito I once had from Hot Taco was awesome. The morning brings great reasons to visit Gastropark. 2. Gastropark is drawing more people. I was at Gastropark between 9:20 a.m. and 9:40 a.m. on Saturday and business was thriving. There was a 10 minute wait at Small State Provisions. Perkatory also had a medium long line. People were coming and going, and people were sitting outside with their people and dogs. A food truck park community is coming together. 3. Gastropark is dog friendly. My wife and son had plans this morning, which means Pasta the Dog and I are spending time together. I can't take him inside a breakfast restaurant, but I can bring him to Gastropark. This won't scoop West Hartford residents, but I also discovered this morning that there is a paved trail (Troutbrook Trail) running east-west along the River. The trail starts between Gastropark and the former HBC/Citizen Chicken building and it ends at Beechland Park. Pasta and I had a lovely walk on a beautiful day after finishing at Gastropark. 4. Ever been in a situation where you had to ask yourself, "Should I have a hot dog or a cheeseburger?" The Glizzburger is here to save the day. Trending Food Report 2024- no doubt! The Glizzburger inserts a burger right in the middle of a hot dog on a mayonnaise griddled Portuguese roll using meats from Connecticut's very own Martin Rosol's Meats. And then there are the toppings! -Poor Man's Poutine- potato sticks, Land O Lakes American Cheese and Bear's Smokehouse Brisket Gravy! -French Funyun- Caramelized Onions, Funyuns, Dijon Mustard, Ketchup and Land O Lakes American Cheese. -KMRO- Ketchup, Mustard, Relish and Dried Onion. -The Classic- Lettuce, Tomato, Red Onion, Ketchup, Mustard, Pickles and Land O Lakes American Cheese. Saturday in the park I think it was the Fourth of July (Robert Lamm and Chicago) Even though yesterday wasn't the Fourth of July, we still spent an hour in the park. Our destination was GastroPark, a fantastic food truck park in West Hartford. And I gotta tell you, the park was jam packed with people eating and drinking and enjoying the sunshine and the fellowship of their friends. There were three food trucks on site yesterday - Fuego Picante, Lobster Tails, and Relish this, so you had quite a lot of choices to feed your face. The food trucks vary every week, so you might want to check out their website first. The Park also has an outdoor bar, and two big seating areas. There are restrooms inside the building. We both went to the Fuego Picante truck for some excellent and reasonably priced food -lobster tacos and lobster quesadillas for $15 each. What a wonderful job Gastro Park has done in opening such a fun, creative, family and dog friendly venue. Just a word to the wise, it's not super easy to find unless you're paying attention the street numbers. It's not visible from the street and sits in a big open space behind retail stores. The eagle-eyed will see a small sign that reads "Food Trucks" in a driveway taking you back there. read more

People were sitting outside by the firepits and indoors. It was so fun to see so much life in the middle of winter. I can only imagine how fun Gastropark would be in the spring/ summertime with warmer temps. I loved the table with the swing chairs- wish there were more of those! So fun! Holy cow this place is so much fun!! I've been seeing this all over Instagram and hearing about it through the grapevine. I wasn't sure what to expect, but I was pleasantly surprised! They are pet friendly which was great because I got to bring my dog with me. There's tons of parking, tons of cool outdoor seating, dog bowels with water. They have a swing set for chairs which is super cool. The inside is where the bar is, they had free bakery bites which were fricking delicious!!! Wow, what an awesome vibe at the Gastropark! This is such a great biz idea that caught our attention through Instagram when they were just beginning their progress. We visited a couple weeks ago on one of the "warmer" winter days as it's slowly turning to spring in New England. About 47° and sunny. We loved that they had individual heaters at every table! Ours wasn't working that well but we didn't care, the vibes and sunshine were keeping us warm! As big fans of local food trucks, we were so excited to see Craftbird & Fuego Picante parked the day we visited. Right now, they're booking mobile bars for beers & cocktails but I believe their plan is to have their own bar in the future. The bar here that day was pretty lackluster with only a few bottled beers and some over priced cocktails. That is my only complaint but not even enough to ding a star. I'm just in love with Gastropark I can't complain! And the best part?! They allow dogs! Can't wait to see what these guys have in store as we come into warmer weather. The only time I go here is Wednesdays thru Sundays. The bread and pastry place, Small Provisions, is only open on those days. Alvarium Roasting is open daily for coffee and coffee drinks. Both of these small businesses are located inside the big warehouse type space and are very good. There is also a huge bar inside the warehouse. On Saturdays and Sundays the place is usually packed around 10am with young couples, singles, young children and a few dogs. I am unfamiliar with the crowd that goes to the bar. But the bar, besides drinks, does offer food. There is ample seating at large tables inside the warehouse space. There is ample seating outside too and that's where many people sit on nice days.
