Well the food was really good, about the same as other Korean BBQ places I've been to but the problem I had with this place was the service. I know hello and thank you in Korean and that is usually enough to have some level of suprise and apreciation from the waitresses because they usually speak some level of english. The service was hurting because of the language barier so I didn't get spoken to except to take my order and get an ocasional refill. I'm not asking for much but I would hope for more than the two times my waitress said anything to me. So if you're fluent in korean maybe you'll have a better time but if you're not a linguist it may be diffucult for both parties. read more

I was craving for some Korean food before my flight back to LA, so I thought I'd try this place out since it was closest to where I was. It was a bit tricky finding this place using GPS, as it's not very visible from the road. Decor inside is quite plain, nothing that really stands out. I initially wanted to galbi tang, but then I was told they had run out. I'd expect that on a busy day at the end of the night, but not lunchtime on a Monday. I ended up getting the bibimbap. What I didn't like is that the amount of meat that was given. It was not a decent size at all. It didn't taste bad, but the pieces that I did receive were so small that I ended up stealing some of my boyfriend's bulgogi. Service is mediocre, but unless people are downright rude or insulting, it doesn't phase me. They left us alone for the most part. Overall, if I am ever in the area again, I may not return. read more

I came here for lunch with my dad & it was packed! I get really excited when a place is packed because it can mean that the food is great! We ordered the (Gamjatang) and the (Soondae) and they were superb. There were large chunks of potato and the plenty of pork along with it. The soondae was really good too. Flavorful and not that chewy! It definitely is a go-to place if you're craving something Korean, wholesome, and good for those chilly days. The only reason i'm giving it 4 stars is because the service was that great. I had to go to the register to ask for more water and more side dishes, which isn't that big of a deal but became a hassle after a while. Side note: I drink a lot of water. Other than that, anyone in the area should definitely try this place out. There are plenty of other items on the menu if (Gamjatang) &/or (Soondae) isn't your thing. read more

this is my goto place for Korean pork broth soup. everytime I eat here, it feels like im in korea. i've read few of the 1 star comments and they were all complaining about extra rice. they were probably asking for free rice under the power of yelp or something because I never had problem getting extra rice bowl. some people are real cheap. also this place isnt the place where Jesus shared 1 loaf of bread along with 12 of his students, you dont just come here with bunch of group and order one food and expect to get those free side dishes. side dishes are money too.. im just gon roll my eye on this one lol read more

This place reminded me a lot of one of those small mom and pop restaurants you find in Asia. I was the only non-Korean in there when I stopped by for lunch. It's a decent sized restaurant and there were only about two tables open when I went, so it's a popular place for Koreans looking for an authentic meal, I'm guessing. My waitress had a strong accent that was a little difficult to understand, but she was friendly when she took my order. To me it was just another sign that I found an authentic Korean restaurant. I've never been to a traditional Korean place before, so I didn't know what to order on the menu. I ordered the bulgogi to be safe. It came with all sorts of condiments and pickled vegetables. It was fun to try everything out. The portions were big so I'm not sure why so many people are complaining about not getting extra rice, because the meals come with a lot of rice already. I'd like to stop by another time when I'm in the area and venture out a little more with the menu and see what else they have there. read more

Last night We spent 66.61 for 3. When the bill came, 15% written on the bill. We thought yes understand it's tip rate for dinner. I just ate here today since I was craving Korean food. I've been here about 4 times in the past 4 months since I started working in the Chantilly area. I haven't been able to find any other Korean restaurants (probably haven't looked hard enough). The service here is pretty slow since there's usually only one person making the rounds. I'm pretty patient but I can imagine if you like quick service, you could be disappointed here. The menu is somewhat limited compared to other Korean restaurants and the side dishes are about average as well. The food is pretty good though and the portions are filling enough. For now, since it's the only place close by for me, I will continue to frequent it, but I'll be on the look out for other Korean restaurants as well. read more

I had never had Korean food in this capacity before, thankfully i had someone with me that new what was going on. He ordered a bunch of stuff in Korean, I sat there, out came mounds of food. It was really good, blazing hot, fresh, pickled cucumber was really good, didn't feel the kimchi, but overall this food stomped on most asian restaurants. My family loves this place for one dish worthy of a visit on a cold rainy day -- Bulgogi Dol Sot Bi Bim Bop. Which is sticky steamed rice, mixed veggies with marinated, grilled beef and a fried egg on top in a hot, stone bowl. It's awesome! Its a close to what we would eat in Seoul. Its Served with traditional sidedishes (aka various kimishi-fied veggies, which admittedly can be hit or miss. Staff speak very little English but smile a lot and are pleasant. We haven't ventured past this dish so we can't comment on rest of menu. It's always good to go to a place frequented by Koreans. The food is excellent. The service on the other hand is not. The Korean woman, I'm guessing she's the owner , did not greet or seat us. She focused more on her Korean guests. The servers and bussers were so busy and there was just two them. They were great, it was just so busy.. table after table, group after group. So for you Koreans out there, this is the place to go in Centreville for traditional Korean food. People tell me I am a 'halmunee' (grandmother) when it comes to Korean food. I think it's because I grew up with my grandmother-- with very traditional Korean homecooking. I am a big fan of 'To Sok Jip' in Annandale, Va... which is also has traditional Korean homecooking in a hole in the wall place. However, since moving out to Clifton.. it's been difficult to trek out to To Sok Jip. My in-laws also are very picky about eating out (this is an understatement). They only eat Korean. And only traditional Korean, and they are scared of MSG. My in-laws are basically straight off the boat from Korea. When they suggested going to a Korean restaurant, I was shocked.. and expecting goodness, because I know their standards. I'm not sure if this place is MSG-free, I cannot tell. But the food is good. Service is not, but I never expect good service at Korean restaurants. I grew up in Korea, so I'm used to bad service. One of my favorite foods is 'gamjatang'. They also have 'gamjatang' with veggies. (porkbone stew with potatoes?) They put a good amount of meat in the gamjatang, much more than at other places. I am a fan.. But I've got to put the disclaimer that the '5 stars' is relative to the Northern Va area. If we were in L.A. or Seoul... I would have to be a bit more critical. But for the NoVa area, this and To Sok Jip are now my two favorite Korean restaurants. read more

When this restaurant first opened a few years back, their service was spectacular and the food was delicious. The people were kind and humble and the food, including the banchan was great. It's like food you get in Korea. The soondae (korean sausage), the jokbal (pork feet), the gamja tang (pork and potato soup), the so muh ree gook bab (beef soup), all of it was fantastic. I have gone back multiple times but have been slowly waning my visits. Their service is horrendous. The are rude and always say that they are out of things. It doesn't make sense. Why would you open the restaurant and do business when you don't even have things that are on the menu. The food has also been bad. It comes out cold and the portions have grown to be substantially small. For the price that I am paying, it is not worth it. read more

Simple, clean, and no frills good food. I am no expert but my food was delicious, came quickly and the little old lady that took care of me smiled at me the whole time. This place is ok. The service is pretty good when the place isn't busy. I prefer to order pig sausage soup and couple of other stuff. I hear that non-Koreans get a bad services often and that is quite true. Some of the servers barely speak English because they are Latinas owned by Koreans but thank goodness I'm able to speak all 3 languages which helps a lot during ordering. I have been living in NY for over 30 years and have been to many great Korean restaurants. And I can confidently say that this is one of the best Korean restaurants in the East Coast. Side dishes are awesome, and I think they are without MSG. Kkak Ttu Ghee Kimchi is amazing. Yuk Gae Jang is one of the best tasting dishes I've had in many years. Decent food with strangest policy on rice. Rice only comes with soup. As a mid 40 Korean I have never heard of such policy in any restaurants neither in US or in Korea. We asked to charge for the rice because 3 of us orderded 2 soups and one $18 dish but they refused to give us 3 rice. Instead they said we can order additional rice after food is served.
