My friend and I come here on occasion they have a great happy hour. You can get two cosmos for $10 and that's premium vodka. We normally have a sushi roll and then we split a hibachi meal. We do sit at the bar so we're not at the hibachi tables. We enjoy the food, but they definitely do not always have their stuff together. We're always having to ask for something whether it's silverware or hey, where's our soup or our salad? We do enjoy watching their food robot ring the to go orders. Went here for the 1st time on Wednesday May 14th 2025 with my parents. We were looking for some dinner nearby the holiday inn express that we were staying at. We arrived in the front, and someone greeted us and sat us at a booth that was actually near the bar. Server was a little slow to take our intial order, and refill waters, but she might have been the only one working in the restaurant, and we did notice that there was noise on the other side of the room, where a party was happening. However, that was okay because we also had to look over the menu options. Finally she came over, we got 3 waters and a personal pizza with sausage and brocolli. We then looked over the menu some more and decided on our entrees, which we ordered shortly after the appetizer. I ordered the Clearwater Beach Sushi Roll, my dad ordered shrimp and scallop hibachi, and my mom ordered veggie hibachi. Food came out in a timely manner- the pizza turned out really good and enjoyable- and we're from NY! I enjoyed my sushi! my parents also enjoyed their food and said that it was a good different for them. We left a cash tip, and paid via a credit card- oh and our waitress also made a mistake and said they don't charge for an extra topping on the pizza, but they did. I don't wanna feel like I'm sitting in a damn nightclub. I'm just too GD old and ornery for that kinda nonsense. I much prefer a dining experience than a trip to Studio 54 or the Twenty One Club, even when I still lived in NYC. Unagi sushi for Queen Bee and gyoza for me as apps. Very slight note of smoke in the fresh eel; pickled ginger and wasabi both quite tasty too. Queen Bee discarded most of her nondescript sushi rice. Blah! Gyoza, meantime, were quite flavorful lil parcels of porky pleasure. Dinner entree was Sake House Hibachi Dinner for 2. It comes with 2 miso and 2 salads, both of which were pretty good. Ginger dressing was a lil sweeter than what I'd expect but still not bad. Then all of a sudden, after we finished those.... I was/we were given a huge platter of food, which took up over a third of our decent sized table! Shrimp, scallops, beef, chicken all grilled and seasoned nicely. Alongside that was a mixed variety of veggies: broccoli, carrot, mushroom, onion, zucchini. Broccoli was limp and soggy but the rest was quite well prepared. Then there was a large mound of grilled noodles and somewhat bland mound of fried rice. We wound up with two take-out boxes for the large amount of leftovers. We finished the seafood there, as it doesn't travel or reheat well. Shrimp were good and those scallops were VERY good. Land side proteins tasted like they were grilled in soy sauce, which pretty much describes hibachi anyway. I didn't appreciate the crappy booth we got stuck in. Nor did I appreciate the loud acoustics in there. No ceiling per se; just black painted corrugated steel and exposed ductwork. Industrial chic is all the rage these days; I find it horrid. The horrible music and an extremely loud buffoon and his office pals were just around the corner from us at a bar table. I walked outta there with both a full tummy and a headache. The buffoon isn't the restaurant's fault. The headache, however, is. Service was relatively nondescript other than the waitress, who was a little pushy at the start. We reminded her twice that we weren't in a hurry; she finally got the hint. So I give three stars because of that and particularly for the horribly noisy environment even though there were only SEVEN patrons in the whole place. So I can't begin to imagine how noisy this dark, cavernous space (with big bar plopped dead center) becomes when the joint is full. Would we return again? I'd say not, despite fairly plentiful, fairly good food. I DO value my sense of hearing more highly than that! Kobe Italian: sayonara and ciao for now, if not forevermore. The Rock In Shrimp Fried was just fried shrimp and no sauce. Not great and would not recommend. The Cheese Wontons were good and basic. Nothing special or different. The Shumai was fried. It was good. I've only ever had it steamed so it was different than what I am use to. The Hibachi Noodles were good. The yum yum sauce that comes with it was missing something. It was only runny. The 2011 roll is deep fried. It is salmon, cream cheese, avocado, spicy Mayo, eel sauce, and yummy sauce. The NYC Roll is yellowtail, cucumber, scallions, and smelt roe. I have been going to this place for over 10 years. But recently the food quality has been getting worse. Last night I place an online order for pick up over $100 and when I went to pick it up it was not ready. The worse is they couldn't even find the order. I showed the order confirmation and they said we'll make it. Waited 30 minutes and they gave me a $10 store gift card which is worthless because I have no intentions on going back. When we got home, the only thing we could eat was the cup of salad with ginger dressing. The rest of the food was inedible, the rice was old and dry, the noodles were pasta and not lomein noodles, chicken was old, veggies were too salty and overcooked, and soup had a weird taste too. We threw everything in garbage as it was too risky to eat. Ended up ordering from somewhere else. I called them the next day to let them know their food wasn't edible and they should not do what they did. All I got was I am sorry, we will take your feed back. Not a fan of their cooked rolls (or anything fried for that matter). My husband and I have always been fans of this place because he was able to get hibachi and I was able to get sushi. Once I got pregnant, my ability to eat raw fish went out the window so I had to transition to cooked rolls. I've had great experiences with cooked rolls at other sushi places so we decided to come here for dinner and introduce two of our friends. I am normally super picky about where I bring people because I feel like it is my duty to choose a place where we will be guaranteed a good time. Usually this means a place with over 4 stars on Yelp. Even though this place has 3 1/2 stars I figured with our past good experiences I'd let it slide. This was definitely a mistake. Although I hate lowering my rating based on one bad experience, this one was probably bad enough that we won't be back for a while. SERVICE: Definitely two stars for service. My friend brought a bottle of wine and asked if there was a corkage fee. Our waitress seemed flustered and questioned what corkage meant. We changed the question to could we open a bottle of wine that we brought and she said sure. Later she came back and told us her manager said it would be $10. Yep, that's what a corkage fee is. So she then proceeds to open the bottle and breaks half the cork. She basically pulled out half the cork and pushed the other half into the wine - and this was not an inexpensive bottle of wine. The waitress then kept trying to blame the bottle and said she herself opens a bottle of wine almost every night and this has never happened before. We ended up having to pour the wine into a plastic pitcher to try to make sure there weren't any bits of cork in it. On our bill they comped half the corkage fee. I suppose it's because she was able to get out half the cork? What's weird is they put the corkage fee on both bills. I'm used to paying a corkage fee per bottle, not a corkage fee per bill so in the end even with half of it comped we paid $10. Just bizarre. The bad service didn't end there. Even though we ordered appetizers all the food came at the same time. Our waitress told us that the kitchen staff wasn't on the ball that day. I don't know if she was trying to deflect blame but it came off sounding odd. FOOD: Stay away from any rolls that are fried. I got the Spider Roll and the Jaguar Roll. Both came out deeply fried. I'm used to lightly fried rolls, but the Jaguar Roll was fried to the point that it looked like a roll that you get at a cheap buffet. The soft shell crab in the Spider Roll was also deeply fried. The ends looked like fried blobs. It was pretty unappetizing. I'm still a fan of their fried rice and happily ate some of my husband's hibachi. We "started" with the shrimp gyoza which was also deeply fried. I would just steer away from anything fried. My friends did say that the spicy salmon roll they ordered was good and I've enjoyed raw fish from here before. Overall it was kind of embarrassing to introduce people here for the first time when service was that bad. We came here for a hibachi dinner, but also ordered some sushi and gyoza as an appetizer. The soup came out first and was just pure salt. Then came the salad, and the ginger dressing was pretty good, but it was just lettuce and dressing. There was literally nothing else on this salad. After that, everything came at once, which the server apologized for, but there is actually a reason for ordering appetizer and that is for them to come out first. And I could maybe understand if it was just the timing with the sushi as it's made in spectate areas, but the same thing happened with the gyoza. The food was okay, the best was the lobster and scallops. The steak was a bit grainy and I didn't try the filet mignon. There were however a ton of rice and noodles on the plate, so if your trying to carb load this is great. Also, we brought in a nice bottle of wine to go with our hibachi meal. They charge $10 corkage, which is reasonable if they know how to open a bottle of wine. But this was a huge mistake on our part. 1/2 the cork got left in the bottle. The server blamed the cork and then left us to figure out how to get the wine out of the bottle, which we managed with a plastic jug as a decanter and some chopsticks. They manager discounted the corkage by $5, but seriously why wouldn't you just remove the entire charge. We ordered 2 speciality rolls for $17 (or so we thought) and a soup and salad. The rolls turned out not to be 2 for $17 instead $14-15 each because we had a Groupon. Really wish our server would of told us that in advance. The beers were also more expensive than we thought, $6.99 each so $3.50 each which I feel like is regular price so that was a bit annoying as well. The sushi was okay nothing special. Kobe Italian is a Japanese Steakhouse with Sushi. Located in an outdoor mall near where the old Tucson's used to be off Ulmerton Road. As you enter the restaurant the first impression is that it is a bar. The entrance door opens into the bar. There is no waiting area or real reception. You are standing in the back of a chair at the bar. The bar consumes the entire room sharing one end for the sushi bar. Around the bar individual tables and booths. In the back are 6 to 8 hibachi tables. I was greeted promptly and seated immediately at the sushi bar. I was given plenty of time to peruse the menu and take it in with the occasional assistance of the wait staff. I was used to marking my sushi choices on a separate menu; here they took your order. I was impressed that they had approximately 70 items on their sushi menu and offered combinations with miso and salad for approximately $13. In making up my mind I did have a slight language barrier with the sushi chef as I did not know what he was describing so he solved the problem by providing a sample to satisfy my taste inquiry. The staff was very friendly. I always enjoy miso and a salad with my sushi so I knew I was going for one of the combinations. I selected one of my standard spicy tuna and an unknown to me called the USF (with the colors Green and Gold: Go Bulls!!!) and included Oshinko which was the bases of our language barrier. The spicy tuna had a moist texture and a mild nutty flavor which was extremely tasty. The USF was reminiscent of a California roll in texture with a very clean, cool flavor. But bolder than the California roll. Both were delightful. Although I was only having water I did inquire if they had a happy hour. They do offer a 2-4-1 special on mixed drinks, beer, and select imported beers. Although the space between the bar and the other tables did not seem to encourage a large happy hour at the bar. Happy hour and a dinner out with friends would be possible at this location. Unfortunately I still don't know where the Italian part comes in. Oh well, next visit. read more

Soon after, the wall between the two was torn down as if order so by the Gipper himself. Now what you have is a restaurant with Italian and Japanese menus, hence Kobe Italian. Laughable at first, but not after you've had the vittles. What we ordered: Fried shrimp app - Shrimps were big, but the flavor was lacking. They absolutely depended on the side sauce. Eggplant & Italian Sausage app - Very tasty. Sausage and cubed egg plant served in a bowl with marinara sauce. Too good for the price. Sashimi app - I didn't eat any of it because I had an entrée coming, but the portions were pretty large, and La Chica had a smile on her face while stuffing it, so I'm assuming it was all good. Chicken Bianco - Ahhh, a long lost friend of mine. I had to order it. It was my favorite dish at the old CDB that used to be at Hutchison and Ehrlich back in the day. It was good, as I remembered, but the sauce was different. It used to be more of a thin white wine sauce, but now it's more like a white wine alfredo. Still tasty, and still a recommended dish. I'm still not impressed. Honestly, my stars would be closer to a 2.75. Anyways... We ordered from the Japanese menu. We started with the Rock n Shrimp, sashimi deluxe and an sake house roll. The Rock n Shrimp was literally rock hard. The batter was almost burnt and presentation was horrible. I was super disappointed and the chefs sauce was nothing I cared for. With such a bad start I was praying the sashimi would be better from the last time. And thankfully it was! The fish is fresher and not dull in color. It's not the best because besides the salmon and escolar there was no flavor. The sushi roll was a little green madness of seaweed and baked fish on top of an avocado wrapped California. It wasn't bad but I think the seaweed salad is somewhat out of place and the baked tuna and salmon can be dry. I would have liked it more torched instead. I wasn't a fan of the service and think it's awkward when you walk in and someone behind the bar is trying to host while walking off around the corner of the bar. Kobe Italian has great food and service. It's less expensive than the other hibachi restaurants around here and much less crowded. They have a full bar. There are tons of sushi choices on the menu as well. This place is a must try! read more
