Our waitress didn't understand the menu or the difference between sashimi and nigiri. I ordered the Sashimi Deluxe and was served nigiri along with a roll. To their credit, the manager stepped in and corrected it. Food quality was average at best. The sashimi itself was a C--nothing terrible, but not fresh or high quality enough to justify a return visit. One additional concern--there were empty food supplier containers sitting outside along the side of the building, which doesn't give a great impression from a cleanliness standpoint. Day 1 - walked from the hotel, sat down, the waitress brought a cup of water and the menu. 20 minutes later she stopped by to take my order. The food came out at a reasonable time. Then (and I kid you not) took 31 min 52 sec (because I timed it) before she came back. There were only 11 people in the whole entire restaurant. Just so everyone knows, 7 or more people have 18% added gratuity that they don't disclose, but "a few" of the menus say it. The food is good but we arrived at 6:30 and we're leaving at 9 with only have had a few bites, because after so long we wanted to leave and asked for our food to go. They said thank you for our patience but our patience was running very thin at hour 2. I talked to the manager about them not disclosing the gratuity and she wrote it off saying some menus do disclose and she figured someone would see it even though most of our party was children. The sushi here was really good, however the service was incredibly slow. We ordered four rolls, edamame, and some pineapple fried rice chicken. We got one roll a good 10 minutes after the other ones. This spot seems like it's a beloved spot, we're just visiting. But it was the slowest service we've ever had. We were here 2 hours just because of all the waiting we had to do. We waited 10 mins for seating (not bad), then another 10 just to order. And like I said, we were long done with our sushi when they told us the FIRST time that our rice was running behind. The second time the server apologized profusely. That was almost 30 minutes all together. And we ordered it the same time as our sushi. The server gave us a small discount and some complimentary mochi ice cream. Which was not like normal mochi at all. It was crumbly instead of gummy. But, we appreciated the gesture. For extra protein, I added chicken which was tender and delicious. For this meal alone, I'm so happy that I discovered this place! I would order this again in a minute. For us. In sushi lovers, they also offer teriyaki and bento boxes, chicken katsu, General Tso's chicken, Pad Thai, orange chicken, udon soup, tempura, goyza, fried rice, - just to name a few! Point is, there are options. I've passed Kobe Sushi & Bar so many times driving on I-84, their sign high on the building next to Hampton Inns. After a walk along the river and watching the sunset, I decided to stop in, not wanting to cook dinner that late. So glad I did! The restaurant is actually street level and there are several tables outside on the sidewalk with great views of the river. The food is the highlight at this restaurant. Our group of 7 had a variety of plates ranging from sushi, to miso, to yakisoba and teriyaki. All were acceptable and tasty- chicken teriyaki is VERY sweet(not my favorite). The biggest CON of this restaurant is the staff. Our group made a reservation for 2 hours before closing. We got water right away, but then we waited and waited. There were two other small groups but the restaurant was not close to full. We counted at least 7 servers, 4 cooks, a bartender and 2 hostesses. We waited 20 minutes for our server to arrive, we ordered drinks and food. We then waited 30 more minutes for 4 simple drinks( shot/soda, a beer, whiskey/seven and a martini), and I had to ask the waiter for updates twice. We saw our sushi sitting in the window for 15 minutes before it was brought to us.
