i really enjoy the vegan pho option here! i like to add soft tofu in addition to the veggies. my partner enjoys the pad see ew made vegan as well. the staff is always so kind & they are attentive. the establishment is so cute and they have outdoor seating as well. they offer a yummy lavender lemonade as well as teas, sodas, and wine from a local winery. there's a really nice person who works there named Tony & they were really nice & helpful with vegan options. read more

Let me start out by saying that this is my favorite restaurant to eat at. The staff is always kind and friendly. The food is delicious... when they give it to you correctly. Every single time that I have ordered to go my order has been wrong. I order a red curry with extra veggies and pineapple. This is what I got. I'm so upset. Also why is a good chunk of my food gone, also this comes with veggies already but there's nothing?? This has happened on multiple occasions yet never when I dine in. Wanted to love Thai House but it's just OK. Since there are only a haMcCullough of Thai restaurants in Hood River, I had high hopes because Thai is one of my favorite cuisines, especially for takeout. While the process for ordering, and the service when I picked up my order, was friendly, offering hot sauce, chili oil and utensils for the taking, the food was definitely sub-par. Darn. Pad Kee Mao (drunken noodles) is one of my favorites and man, did I have a craving. Figured this was a safe bet since its a staple of Thai street food and served in most restaurants. I did ask for spicy, number 4 on their 5 spice scale since many Thai restaurants cater to the American palette and their spicy is Super spicy, even for me! This popular dish is made with wide rice noodles and is stir fried with Chinese broccoli and Thai basil plus carrots, scallions and cabbage. For protein I selected chicken. Well, their version had zero Chinese broccoli, Thai basil, or cabbage! The sauce was practically non existent making the dish so dry. I've never, ever had a rice noodle dish that was dry. I added water to try to make a sauce. The chicken was also dry and over cooked. And the spice was so hot, I could only eat about a third of the dish. For my Thai fix while in Hood River I'll have to stick with Lampoei's, a food truck on OR-35, that typically serves curries, Pad Thai and fried rice, not drunken noodles. read more

I was looking forward to Thai House takeout but couldn't find a webside; however I did find a FaceBook presence and a Zmenu listing. My much anticipated meal turned out to be an unfortunate experience. Zmenu prices did NOT match the in-restaurant menu - prices were a third higher when I picked up my meal. Disappointing, certainly, but when I plated dinner at home the five dry potstickers and dry pad see ew (even after specifically asking for extra liquid) for $33 seemed more than excessive. There are many outstanding Thai restaurants in the Portland area, and a pretty good Thai restaurant in The Dalles. Sadly Thai House - this was the last chance as I've tried several things from your menu over the years, but have found the food merely adequate...I won't be back. read more

I absolutely love thai food, so I was excited to try one in the city I was visiting. I was absolutely shocked at how good the reviews are for this place and how everything was here. Either they're using fake reviews and/or paying for reviews. The food was absolutely bland as all could be. My beef in the drunken noodles was overcooked, stringy, and totally flavorless, even dusted lightly with seasoning you could hardly tell. The potstickers were very clearly frozen ones, with hardly any veg, and no seasoning. Everything here seems to be made for the palette of someone who has never actually had thai food before. Onto drinks. They had no soda available, which was written over the menu in sharpie, no change or update to what they offer officially, just scratched out and written not available. The 'hot tea' which you normally order at a thai place did not come when I ordered it. Instead what came was a cup of hot water, and a bunch of assorted tea bags, expecting me to steep my own like I'm in an elderly diner from the 90s. Their thai iced tea was primarily milk and sugar, and had a very underwhelming use of spice. The acoustics in the place was very odd, very echoing. I could hear things normally you wouldn't expect to. The one thing I will say that was good was the waitress that occasionally checked in with us. read more

Thai House is the only Thai restaurant in town and they abuse that fact. I ordered a Panang Curry for $15 (I asked for extra veggies and was told they'd be an additional $5!). We're locals (grew up in Hood River) and have been going here for years- the quality has continued to go down. I received a tiny (12 oz) Tupperware, not fully filled, with 7 pieces of tofu and way too overloaded with just frozen peas and carrots. I can't believe I almost spent an additional $5 to get a piece of broccoli (or maybe just extra freezer vegetables). The curry itself was mediocre at best. This was the final chance I gave to Thai House. What a disappointment. read more

The location and ambience are nice, online ordering is easy and food will be at the front desk when you arrive. During our last visit we got the Panang Curry, Pad See Ew and Spring Rolls. As other reviews have pointed out, the curries (~$15-$17) are just frozen vegetables (peas and carrots in the Panang Curry, for example) with some chewy tofu. The curry sauce itself is watery and insipid. Fresh rolls are edible, but again nothing special and overpriced for the quality. If the food was cheaper (say $10-$12 for an entree) the price might match the quality, and this might be a three-star review, but at these prices the food should be far better. We are locals and have visited Thai house once a year or so over the last few years, assuming that we are there on an off night, but the food is expensive and low-quality every time and we have finally decided not to return, at least until the food quality improves. read more

Stopped here while driving to Washington- only doing take out. Young Lady re- read the menu for us when asked about certain dishes. Guess she had not tasted them, maybe she was new. Ordered then had to wait 20 min. No bathrooms available so traveled to gas station a few blocks away. Walked the dog at a cute park and then returned. Food was excellent and only took 15 min. The food here is very good. Unfortunately the portion sizes are getting smaller and smaller by the day but the prices are not. The lunch portion and the dinner portion seem to be the same these days. I've recently discovered they charge more for the dinner portion but there's no difference because they don't fill the containers all the way. I've been eating here for years and when they started the containers were always filled and my girlfriend I had more food than we could eat. Now I have to buy three dinners for the two of us and we finish all of them. Sucks seeing restaurants pinching pennies and still expecting high prices. Normally for the dinner portion the containers are all the way full of food. This is the lunch serving, just in a bigger container. The containers on the right contain potstickers they are the normal cheaper lunch serving. I have kids and I can't afford to feed them here anymore. By the way this meal cost $55.00. Also our soup said there would be button mushrooms and straw mushrooms. There were only 4 total button mushrooms. The cheapest mushroom you can get. Just one more example of why I'm done with Thai house. They did it to them selfs. There food was on point and they just started cutting corners. Sad. read more

THE WORST. Every. Single. Time. NO fresh vegetables in any of their dishes - just frozen peas and carrots from a bag. Always something wrong with my very simple orders. The whole place seems to be staffed by underage children who have no idea how to serve customers, forget to check on them, bring you plates of cold food. I'm almost thankful that you can't dine in here anymore so no one else has to suffer. Today I thought "Gee it's been two years, maybe I'll try ordering lunch" because I am obviously an idiot. For $11 I received a bowl of "panang curry" - which is basically just a can of coconut milk, a can of pre-made curry paste and a handful of pre-fried tofu and frozen vegetables, that was probably reheated in a microwave before serving to me. No peanuts, no basil as described in the menu. The person serving me at the takeout window was literally 6 years old. Do yourself a favor and do not even bother going here. Ate here a few times while in town working. Had the Pad Thai once, it was a bit dry so the second time I ordered it, I ordered extra peanut sauce. I am not sure what it was but every time it seemed as if the noodles were rubbery and just cooked to much. Not much flavor and was not my favorite dish from here plus it seemed greasy. I tried the Thai house noodle the next time it was Stir-fried rice noodles with egg, pickled radish, bean sprouts, green onion and ground peanut. Served with fresh vegetable and peanut sauce. This was a more enjoyable dish to me than the pad thai and had more flavor however, just wasn't over the top! Disappointed overall and I don't think it is a place I will try a fourth time. I was pretty disappointed with the food I picked up here. The rice was very wet and stuck together, and the overall dish had a fishy flavor. It was very off-putting. Really good Thai food. We had the green papaya salad which was really good! I got Pad Phet (Fresh Ginger) with shrimp. My wife had the Drunken noodles with Tofu. Both of which were really well made. Side note: When they ask how spicy you want it on a scale of 1 to 5 remember that is Thai spicy. I chose 3 but by end of the meal it was just a bit too much spicy build up for me. That was my choice on the spice level not their fault, next time I'll just choose level 2 now that I know. :-) read more

we have been customers for years . food is hit and miss and I have never complained . I had chicken pineapple fried rice to go as one of dishes we often order , got to parkdale and could not eat it as it had sooo much salt after one I could not eat another bite . I called to complain and was offered an adjustment only if I brought dish back . I explained I was in parkdale and that would require 30 miles round trip and did not make sense . was told only if food returned they could offer adjustment . i asked if I brought in meal on my next trip to town if they would make adjustment and they said no it had to be done before they closed this evening . my wife and I will never go back , food was marginal to begin with and if they can't respect when a customer has a bad experience we will find another establishment that actually cares about the customer and experience . read more

The food is usually great. My complaint is that it's not very sanitary, and I've seen multiple health hazards. Another tip for any costumers, DONT order online and if you do, be prepared for it to be 30+ minutes later than they say it will be. If you want Thai food, just go to pho river. read more

We ordered take out here last night on our way home. A cal to the restaurant was met by a very curt answer to order online and they hung up. We ordered online, with no information on when the order may be ready or if we will be told if ready. We showed up and were met by another curt order to wait longer. Person serving not wearing a mask or gloves. We finally get our food and eat. Twenty minutes into our meal I get a text that the food is ready. Thanks. I got the pad se ew, and it was solidly ok. Lots of noodles, lacking flavor, very little veggies. My husband got the red curry, which was all bamboo shoots and a few shrimp. Again, mediocre flavor. My son's dinner was the pad Thai, which was delicious, but not many veggies. Not many vegetarian options, as most rolls had pork in them. I don't think you'd get sick here, but there are probably tastier and friendlier places to eat. read more

Ate here a couple of weeks ago with my family. I like the ambience of the restaurant, it was homey and the bathroom was clean. Owners son is friendly too. Ordered yellow chicken curry medium heat, it came with white rice. Combo appetizer, shrimp appetizer, shrimp pad Thai, BBQ chicken, and pineapple fried rice. Everything was way too salty except for the yellow chicken curry. I should have told the waitress that it was salty but I'm afraid they may sabotage the sticky rice with mango and the plantains with coconut sauce we were ordering next. The sticky rice was so cute, it was so small and tiny. The fried plantains was mushy (maybe it was meant to be real soft) but the coconut sauce was delicious. Don't get me wrong, I like this restaurant because of the nice people running it. But just make sure to ask them to be easy on the salt. And maybe make the serving of sticky rice/mango dessert a little bit more. read more

I'll give them another shot, but based on our first experience, I'm unimpressed. Pad Thai is on every Thai restaurant's menu. It ought to be one of those fun dishes that hits every flavor note - with sweet, salty, sour, spicy. The dish I got on Saturday had "greasy" as its predominant note. Noodles were heavily coated with oil. There was no sprinkle of crunchy peanuts for contrast - a tiny plastic tub of thinned peanut butter came instead. I saw no egg in the dish, and the chicken was cooked quite dry. Just not good. The pattaya shrimp - picture cigar-shaped skinny egg roll type wrappers filled with shrimp seemed to be heat-lamp victims. Dry, with little flavor. Yum Hur beef salad was unremarkable. Right now Pho River wins for me in terms of bright and vibrant flavors; I've also enjoyed Montira's in The Dalles a few times (though it's further if you just crave something fast & close). I suppose I'll give Thai House another shot to see if this was an off night, but I think this time I'll be sure I have a frozen pizza in the freezer as a backup in case the quality is the same. read more
