Came here for a gyro and was not disappointed! My husband and I each ordered a gyro and we split a Greek salad and hummus plate. It was more food than we could eat! The gyro is good, with plenty of sauce and great flavor! The hummus is tasty and comes with pitas a plenty! The salad also came with pitas which we dipped in our hummus. I'm not sure what I would do with them if I had just ordered the salad. There is parking in the back, and an entrance off the back parking lot for convenience. I had the opportunity to use the baby changing station in the restroom, and it was definitely one of the nicer ones I've used while out and about! It was an actual table with an actual changing pad. Almost unheard of. I like that you order at the counter and get your own drinks. There is also a bar and TVs, so it's probably a great place to catch a game. We'll definitely return! read more

Great food and amazing staff. My wife ordered the salad and it had more onions than she wanted (she is not a huge onion fan). As she was placing some of the onions on a separate plate, the chef saw her from the kitchen. He came to our table and wanted to make her a new salad. That is serious customer service! Stop by for lunch on the way home from zoo. The environment was urban and had inviting atmosphere. They have a nicely situated bar that didn't distract the seating area. The music brought back nostalgic memories from early 2000s. Now for food everything I had was solid. Tried the gyro, spicy gyro, meatball and baklava they were all good. I've downgraded my review to 3 stars, here's why: The food here is always good. It comes out fast and hot. It's a charming place to eat and have a drink. But I have a few complaints, hence the 3 star review. The ordering process is a little awkward, no one greets you at the door and there's not a waiter/waitress, so it's not full service. They do bring the food to you, but there's no service before or after that, yet, by default they add an 18% tip to your bill. Also, we discovered that they charged us $2 to cut our gyro in half. I'm always looking for a great gyro. This place has a fantastic gyro. The meat is always tender and very flavorful. The pita bread must be steamed because it's always very soft and chewy. I'm not sure what they do to the French fries but they're always very crispy on the outside but soft and creamy on the inside. The service has been consistently friendly and quick. For those who haven't been here, you put in your order in the back, put your number on the table and someone brings out your food. There are a few places to park out front but I recommend parking up at the parking lot at State and Home Road. read more

Second time eating here. First time was our 45th anniversary, we were USAir Force on Crete when we met and married. The food here is the best Greek food we have had in the U S. This review is for the kitchen staff. Bravo on the lamb shank!! Along with a bottle of Retsina (Greek white wine)was so good we were tempted to break our plates!! The lamb was so flavorful and melt in your mouth tender! We are hooked on your grilled octopus! My wife and I went on a Saturday evening, knowing we would likely have to wait for a table, especially since it was an OSU game night. Luckily for us, we did not have to wait, though the place was packed and people who arrived after us did have to wait for a few minutes. We have never been to Koble before, so the process of ordering was new to us. If you have not been before, here it is: you are seated by the host(ess); you look over the menu; you go to the back of the restaurant to order and pay; they give you a number to place on your table; the food is brought to you when it's ready. Don't worry, your table won't be taken while you're away ordering. We each ordered spanakopita as an appetizer; I ordered the pasticio; my wife ordered salmon on a bed of pasta. The appetizers came out with the main dishes, which was a turn-off for me -- you should basically consider the appetizers as sides, not as appetizers. The spanakopita was ok, I guess, but they we so heavily laden with dill and salt that I could barely taste the spinach at all. The pasticio was mediocre -- it basically tasted like ground beef over some pasta with some pasta sauce and cheese on top. There was little depth to the flavor at all. The Happy Greek in the Short North is the place to go for pasticio (pastitsio, pastizio, however the individual restaurant wishes to spell it), so I'll go back there next time I want it. My wife commented that her salmon and pasta dish was so salty that she couldn't really enjoy it at all. We passed on desserts. Since this is an order-and-pay at the same time restaurant, there is no real table service. They bring the food to you, but that's it. No one comes to ask if you want a refill; no one comes to ask if your food is satisfactory; no one comes to check on you in any way at all. If you want refills on water or soft drinks, you go get them yourself. This is all fine and good, and this is what one would expect at Wendy's or Raising Cane's, for example, but I sort of feel that a restaurant like Koble Grill is a step up from that sort of place. A walk-by of a server to ask if everything was ok would have been nice. Considering that the entree prices are in the $teens and $20s, and that you're expected to leave a tip when you pay, a little more table service would be a good thing. Will I return? If I'm in a group who insist that we go there, then yes. On my own or with my wife, likely not. There are other Greek restaurants around town that I enjoy much more. read more

There was some discussion between the spouse and I about how to rate Koble. They've been open a little over a month, so there are still issues being worked out and logistical hiccups that can be addressed given the space and layout. I'm giving it a tentative 3-stars. The decor and layout of the restaurant is beautiful. Bare brick, reclaimed wood, central bar, sturdy chairs - it looks upscale and classy, with wall hangings and framing around the door. Also, be prepared: it is LOUD - but with a bar set up in the center of the restaurant, it's to be expected. The logistics of the system could use some work. You seat yourself, then go up to the counter to order...unless you're sitting at the bar, which is full-service. There were two menus on a small table at the entry, so we trekked back up to grab them (leaving the next diners looking around for more) so we could figure out what to eat. Runners bring the food to your table, but we were not able to flag anyone down to answer our questions - specifically, why there were pictures of moussaka and rollatini (?) on the menu but not listed as dishes. Also, no dessert menu?! Okay, to the counter. Ah, here are the desserts, in a display case! With the bar open behind and the kitchen window, it was LOUD - we could barely hear anything (and neither could our order-taker). They did have moussaka and two lamb dishes on special, so the spouse ordered the lamb shank, I got the vegetarian pasta, and we ordered a dip trio. Drinks are self-serve...unless you're having beer, then you order and pay at the bar. Our orders came out quickly, and we were left to eat. I liked my pasta; I ordered it without cheese but got a side of the spicy feta to add on. The spouse, though, was very meh about his lamb (and he loves lamb) - the meat itself was tender, but the sauce tasted like reduced drippings with cornstarch added, and the rice was unseasoned. He was disappointed, and having tasted it, so was I. The dips (tzaztiki, hummus and spicy feta) were good, and came with both pita and some cucumbers. There was no way to ask for more pita/veggies, though, so the dips went unfinished. Hopefully Koble will streamline their dining room process and add some sound panels to the walls, and it'll be a better experience next time. read more

When it comes to gyros, this restaurant is superior to others that claim to have authentic Greek cuisine. While they have a few delicious items; some of their menu items aren't up to par. Such as their Italian flatbread and their kids menus. They don't seem to fit the theme and aren't particularly tasty either. Also the bar isn't great if you're looking for anything other than straight up liquor and soda combos. Lastly the staff at the front of the house was rude and never greeted anyone or sat them even when it is stated that customers should wait to be seated and the overall atmosphere is just unenjoyable because the space is so claustrophobic. Overall, I only come to this restaurant because it's close to me and the gyros are delicious. read more

This is one of our favorite local restaurants. Every time we go there we try something new and we are blown away every time with great food and great service. The staff is so friendly and knowledgeable and I like that when I go back in there I do see familiar faces which tells me that they like working there because they've worked there for years. My favorite meal of theirs is their Moussaka. It is to die for. It's so good! There is parking on the street out front and around back for dine in and also 2 or 3 spots right by their back door for easy pick ups. Went here for the first time today for a lunch meeting. Was fine with the ordering at the counter, being given a number & them bringing it out to the table when the food was ready, but what I didn't like was that when I tried to get a drink out of the machine they were out, so I went to my second choice..again out of it too. Instead of having a million different types of drink options they should make sure that they have plenty of what's listed actually in the machine! I have been to Koble twice now. The first time was shortly after they opened a few years ago. I ordered a sandwich. The place was busy, and when I received the sandwich, I soon discovered that the bread was moldy (that seemed strange since they had recently opened). But OK. That stuff can happen. It bothered me, though, that the moldy side was on the inside, but oh well... After letting them know, they offered to make a new sandwich, but our group was well into their meals. So, opted not to get a replacement. Did they offer to comp my next meal or perhaps even give me money back on the meal I had already purchased. NO. So after several years some friends convinced me to go back. I reluctantly agreed. Again, it was busy. 12 of us were sitting together. Each meal came out one at a time and over a period of about 20 minutes. After ordering the meal and while waiting for it to be served, I decided to go the bar to order a drink. It took several minutes to get the bartender to recognize me, but finally she did. I ordered, and she said it would be about 5 minutes. 20 minutes later, I went up to ask about the drinks, and she said I was next. 5 minutes later I had the drink. The food came, and actually this time, it wasn't bad. It was actually tasty. I still had to pay for my drink. That took 10 minutes. Being perturbed about the slow service, I did not leave my usual 20% tip. I left a $2 tip on a $15 tab. I happened to check my credit card statement the following morning, and my $2 tip magically turned into a $70 tip. Yes. My $15 bill was not $85. Maybe it was just coincidence. Came here because I was out in Westerville and we were hungry so we decided to go here. I will say it's pretty good. I tend to get either the Chicken Gyro or the Chicken Kabobs. When in Westerville and in close proximity, I will go to this place but I wouldn't drive across town for it. The Chicken Gyro and Chicken Kabobs are good. I would like a little more other flavors to shine through as opposed to just tasting the citrusy acid of lemon. The rice is pretty good as well that comes with the kabob dish. The atmosphere is nice. Surprisingly quiet due to this place having a bar type of atmosphere as that seems to be the focal point. I have gone here and watched big sporting events and it wasn't really loud or crowded in there at all. read more

Okay, no offense to Jimmy V's and their glorious tree, but Koble has won me over something fierce. First off, the locations is amazing; small from the outside but plenty of seating within, missing the boothery I normally prefer but the seats are nice, lots of quality televisions abound and a nice bar located in the center. Small draft selection, but good options and well priced ($4 during Happy Hour). Love the order style; walk up and order, receive a number, go sit and wait for your fud. They have the newer fountain option with a ridiculous amount of options, not to mention the Bai beverages in a cooler (I'm a big fan of Bai drinks). I was wanting a gyro and not wanting to drive to Yanni's the first swing I gave 'em; got a gyro with feta and tatziki sauce. Asked the server if their fries were worth it, and she gave me the green light - she was right, solid offering. Not highly memorable, but good. The gyro was tasty as well. Then I sampled an Italian gyro, spicy sausage and melted cheese and good lord was it fabulous and filling. Pricing is also on point; a jumbo gyro is $9, a standard $6-7. The service on both visits was great; very friendly and personable, everything came out quickly and the food was quite flavorful. I've been back for numerous other meals now with the family, and by Goethe they've nae disappointed. I've sampled the pork tenderloin pita sandwich (souvlaki I believe) with solid portions and cook on the pork with their fantastic feta ta boot, and the shrimp philly which was kinda forgettable but with as many trips as I've made I had ta try it at least the once. The Italian is my favorite hands down, but man is their feta good. The kid always gets their pasta with gyro meat and he's a huge fan of it (and considering it's neither mac 'n cheese or a grilled cheese sangwhich, this reflects VERY well upon them), and the better half gets their gyro and always adds feta (again, their feta is quite tasty). The three of us get in and out quickly, happily, and for around $20, which is a spectacular combination. Great location though parking is meh, but if you're a normal visitor to the downtown Westerville area, it's not too tough to crack. If you find yourself in the area, give it a go. Better food than Jimmy V's if lacking the outside attributes of an amorous tree climb, definitely worth a visit. read more

I've been three times. Every time, the food has been adequate. First I had the lemon soup, which was a little strong for me, and the spicy chicken gyro, which was SO spicy. So overboard. And I like spicy, but this was kind of another level. I came back maybe a year later and tried the pasta and meatballs. Nothing special. I felt like I could make better pasta at home from a box. Meatballs were a little tough and burnt. I came back maybe a year later and got the spicy chicken panini, which was pretty good. It was heavy on the banana peppers, but the spicy flavor was much better than gyro I had a few years prior. I keep coming back because of the location - smack dab in the middle of Uptown and the unique ordering set up. You order at a counter in the back and they bring the food out to you. Went with a group of about 20 at lunch time on a Monday. I was shocked at how quickly we both got through the line and received our food at our table. I got a chicken gyro and lemon potatoes. The gyro was great but the lemon potatoes were bland and needed seasoned. My friends said they fries were great. My boyfriend and myself went to eat in tonight we sat at the bar. The food was great, calamari cooked perfectly and we both got spicy gyros, they were also perfectly sauced and had tender meat. The only reason this restaurant Is receiving a 3 star is based on bar service. The bartender frequently checked her phone, and stayed on the opposite side of the bar, with her regulars. When I was looking for another drink she didn't come by, even when I pushed my glass away from me. Only when my boyfriends glass was empty did she offer us another round.
