He stated that the skylights were a little more than he estimated but that he would eat the cost if we paid him cash. When he tried to replace the flashing, he stated that his tools got dirty from an excess amount of tar and that it was going to cost an additional $2500 to replace his tools. What kind of extortion is that? We told him no and he left the job site, our roof, a complete mess. When I asked him to return to correct the mess he left - broken siding, no trim, nails and trash everywhere - and asked if this was representative of all their work, he cussed me out (really!) and told me to find someone else. He blocked me and my wife's cell phone numbers. He told me that in the near future he was shutting down the company and joining the military so I guess their one year warranty is worthless as well! So there is the quality of work and service you can expect! You are fre-warned - avoid Oak City Contracting at all costs!

Jason responded quickly when I called him (from a referral from a more than satisfied friend) to investigate a possible chimney leak. Sure enough, there was damage to the chimney cap and siding that had resulted in a leak and the repair required a lot of creativity, ingenuity, and special customization of materials, all of which Jason handled with aplomb. He also replaced roofing boots which had leaked and later installed an unusual style of gutter guard which I chose to work best with my home and for longevity. Throughout, these projects required multiple visits, staying with the projects to obtain the correct materials and follow through, inspections, tweaking of various kinds (such as adding end caps to the gutter guards to keep out birds and squirrels), responding to address minor issues that arose, etc. I won't go into all these details. The point is that I am a cared for customer whose needs are continually addressed and in an ongoing, relationship-based way. And not nickel and dimed. This is so unusual in this day and age. I can't say enough how great it feels to know I have a safe, tight roof and gutters and will continue to...and that there is a reliable, community-caring person who stands behind me and his work. However one thing that sets him apart and made us decide to hire him is that he is honest, not pushy and has a no-frill approach. He didn't try to upsell anything. In fact he offered quality shingles without charging extra $$. His crew worked efficiently and did the clean-up very well. They installed the roof in one day. The whole process only took less than 2 weeks, from receiving the quote until we have our new beautiful roof installed. They came and looked, made a slight improvement to one area and nothing else. After thousands of dollars and explicit instruction supported by pictures and video, I have soffet sections that have been replaced and others that are soaked. I cannot recommend this company.
