Disappointing Dental Experience - Questionable Practices
Beware, and find another dentist. I absolutely would not recommend Dr. Schafer at Kodak Dental Care. Unfortunately, I had a very disappointing experience with this office. I initially had four cavities filled here, which later led to two of those having to have costly root canals and another one having to be redone because it wasn't right either. I had to have multiple return visits, which caused repeated time off work, and I have had pain for two years now. What's worse is I believe the fillings were unnecessary. I had never had that many filings in my lifetime.
After getting a second opinion from a new dentist, I discovered that the initial fillings I received here were probably unnecessary, as he could only see ONE cavity for the four I supposedly needed. Additionally, my daughter was told she had six cavities during her last visit, (this is after already having numerous cavities filled at Kodak), but after seeing a different dentist, again, only one cavity was found. Interesting, isn't it?
So far, this has cost me $1,800 in out-of-pocket expenses. I am probably going to have to get the first root canal redone, adding additional expense. I am left with ongoing dental problems and significant financial stress.
The frustration didn't end with poor dental work; the way this practice pushes for positive reviews is also concerning. I noticed that the office frequently runs gimmicks, such as giveaways for TVs and coolers, in exchange for reviews, which I believe has contributed to the skewed perception of their quality of service. I would highly caution anyone considering this office, as my experience has been far from satisfactory, both in terms of the dental work and the professionalism in handling my concerns.
Despite giving the dentist an opportunity to address these issues and an opportunity to make things right with me, nothing was resolved and Dr. Schafer sent me a letter stating that sometimes cavities are deep and lead to root canals and we were dissolving our patient/dentist relationship. I found it ironic that he thought I would even consider remaining as a patient after YEARS of pain, damage, and a shady amount of supposed cavities. Because of this, I decided to write this review to save someone else from this office. I know I rely on reviews to choose where I go. Maybe since I couldn't get things made right, it's time I reach out to counsel to get a resolution that is satisfactory for the pain, ongoing dental work needed, and financial stress this has caused. read more
