The check-in process was simple once I downloaded the app and I appreciated that first-time visits are $4, so I ended up staying for three hours. (I also saw that the owner will allow people to browse the shelves before they decide to stay or not.) The selection is absolutely incredible: over 7,000 volumes and I saw so many series that I myself am collecting that had their latest volume on the shelf. Each area is categorized by genre (horror, rom-com, drama, psychological, kids, etc.) and the manga are in pristine condition. Mature manga are placed in the front of the store and you can borrow them if you show your ID. There are many types of seating arrangements: tables and chairs, armchairs, even some kind of long bean bag on a carpet. I liked that there were tissues and water available for people, and if you wanted to get a snack or a drink, it was possible to get it up front. (When I was there, I was given a QR code to fill out a survey and upon submitting it, I could get a drink or snack for free.) Loved the lo fi music playing in the background. The air conditioning is strong, but the owner has blankets that you can ask for so that you can be cozy during your stay. I believe that the price is fair, perhaps even overly generous, because it would cost much more money to purchase this manga and you can read it in a quiet, respectful environment. I love that there are community events and that there are additional incentives to come back, such as receiving 30% off if you return within seven days. I personally want Manga Lounge to exist forever--it's rare to find a business that understands that sometimes all you want is a space to read manga and not be bothered for several hours. I will be coming back when I'm in the area.

It's really neat that they have layers and layers of sliding bookshelves. There's also some cute character merchandise for sale, a sofa area to sit and read at (looks like they also have karaoke?), and a very small English manga section that's currently 15% off. It was mostly shonen series like Vinland Saga, HxH, Chainsawman, Attack on Titan, etc. It seems like they have a membership service too. If you can read Chinese and enjoy light novels and manga, this is the place for you!

To see a dedicated shop here in Little Tokyo, even if only seasonally, is like a dream come true. It really is a store for the most hardcore of fans. Merchandise that you can see in person - from all the figures, toys, stuffed animals. Soundtracks on vinyl and CD. My only heartbreak is that I wish I had bought the Final Fantasy IX Vivi action doll, the last time the shop popped up. There are a lot of cool figures, but the price is truly truly premium pricing. Nosebleed, like, really take advantage of your deep emotional connection to these characters, level of pricing. Like their prices even leveled-up to test the strength and HP of your wallet. And the shop keep is immune to any kind of pricing de-buffs. I would totally buy some of the metallic King Slimes, the posable FF VII Sephiroth, and 2B. But again, it's a tall ask to splurge. The line was being managed by staff, which were very nice and made sure that we got a promo card. For a pop-up, I was not expecting there to be so much merch for each anime series. There were stickers, shirts, manga, blind items, small bags etc. The items are priced on the higher end. For purchases over $20, you get a free blind sticker which is pretty cool. If you're into anime, this pop up is definitely worth checking out.

Crazy to see that they went from hot pot (IYKYK), to a spot at the mall, to a stand alone store. They're located right next to the Takashima. Funny enough, even with less space than the mall, I feel like they have more stuff and stock than before. The walls are LINED with so many kuji (raffle prizes) that you can purchase and win from. This ranges from anime series like Freiren, Haikyuu, etc. , cute Sanrio characters, to even series like Spongebob, and of course, Hatsune Miku. There's lots and lots of them, and you can take a look at the wall to see what prizes have already been won. There's a good amount of acrylic stands of characters, keychains, some cute plushies and plushie key chains (Chiikawa, Sanrio, etc.), some prize and other smaller figures, and lots and lots of blind buttons! There's a discount shelf at the bottom, but it's a pretty fair price for around $4-7 depending on the series. Lots of LADS (Love and Deep Space), Chinese series and danmei (I can't tell if it's all BL or not), and other various series like Frieren, Haikyuu, Tomie, Cardcaptor Sakura, Naruto, Kirby, Detective Conan, Identity V, Kaiju No. 8, etc. There's also Hoyoverse (slop) wall of goods too. There's also a LOT of LADS stuff here, so if you're a LADS girly you can easily build a shrine or an ita bag just with the stuff that you get here. The worker there was polite and stood at attention at his post the entire time that I was there. I got the Natsume Yuujinchou gacha buttons (they were discounted) and the Tomie buttons. Happy with what I got and I really liked that the Natsume buttons came with protectors and extra cheki cards. Cute! Now that they have a wider selection of kuji and goods that aren't just massive figures (though they still have that too), I can see myself stopping by more frequently.

FINALLY a manga cafe in the valley! I saw a TikTok about it and decided to go since it's a small…read morelocal business and I'M SO GLAD I DID - it's a hidden gem right now and I can totally see this getting big so go NOW. It's nice and cool in there, so it's so great to just chill at one of the bean bags and read away. Also, a good amount of the manga is for sale, so I snagged two Jujutsu Kaisen volumes! I did see Chainsaw Man, Naruto, Demon Slayer, Spy x Family, Fruits Basket etc there so you can easily spend hours. There are also white boards where you can draw your favorite characters so that was cute. The owner, Lui, is really nice and answered all our questions and made us feel super welcomed! There's even a loyalty card where if you visit 7 times, you can spin a wheel for a mystery prize, so you know I'll be back. As for parking, there's parking in the back; there's an alley area that will take you right to the parking lot.

It's clear Lui has a vision and a dream for his business as he mentioned some events his store was going to have as well as a few other future plans he has for it. Overall I had a great time. I drove over an hour to get here and I would say without a doubt it was definitely worth the trip. Shout out to Lui for creating a great vibe.
