The service person let me know that it would be two hours and the lunch hour before the repairs would be completed. I was surprised when he came back in just under 2 hours and said that the mechanic waited to take their lunch until my car was completed. I was amazed and the price was less than I would expect to pay elsewhere. I have always taken my cars for service here over the past 4 plus years I have lived here even though t is not the closest Chevy/GM dealer to me. It is because of service like this that I will continue to bring my vehicles back her to be serviced and they will get a nod for our next auto purchase.

I had a horrible experience with another dealership and started looking at other dealerships. That's where McElwain came into play! I was still pretty injured, so I couldn't come in until a few days later, but Tim made me feel at ease. He originally took my call about the Honda I saw online, and when I asked if it had a clean title, he not only texted me the answer, but a picture of the report. I planned on coming in the next day, but due to a change in plans, I was able to come that same day. He answered every text and informed me that he would tell me if the car had been sold, so we wouldn't drive up to find out then. He also let me know the policy on used cars due to how quickly they're moving right now- something that the guy at the other dealership never cared to do. As you can tell by now, I had a bitter taste in my mouth from my previous experience and expected every salesman to be the same. Tim was not. He went above and beyond, and every single person that we encountered was extremely friendly and eager to help. Tim was finishing up with another customer, so another guy pulled the car around. I didn't catch his name, but he was extremely friendly! Once Tim finished up, we took a test drive and all talked on the ride. Not once did I feel pressured into buying. Tim was so personable and laid back, and I got really good vibes from the business and atmosphere which made me purchase me awesome new Honda that day! He was straight forward with pricing and negotiation and it was such a painless process. Matt, the finance guy, was also super friendly and made the paperwork a breeze. He was so welcoming and never pressured me to purchase anything additional. I really appreciate that! For the first time in two weeks following my accident, I finally felt content. I miss my old civic like crazy, but I am so happy with how my experience went that I know I made the best choice by purchasing my car from McElwain. I drove away tonight no longer being afraid to drive and look forward to making great new memories in my new Honda.

So, I called 1-800 Buick and they hooked me up with North Star who stated they would also call when parts were in. North Star called 2 days later and car was in 3 days after that and repaired. We had very high hopes for our experience with CarShop, especially because everything started off…read moreso well when we purchased our vehicle. Unfortunately, about three weeks after purchasing it, everything seemed to go downhill. We started noticing that the car wasn't running smoothly and eventually got to the point where we genuinely did not feel safe driving it. It was also failing to do basic things properly, which led us to contact CarShop and bring the vehicle back on Monday, July 13th. When we dropped it off, we were told, "You probably won't hear anything until Wednesday, July 15th." However, the following day we received a call from a woman telling us that our car needed to be sent to Chevy because there was a recall on it. This was extremely frustrating because NOT ONCE during the purchasing process were we informed that there was a recall involving the transmission. To our knowledge, the vehicle was sent to Chevy on either Tuesday the 14th or Wednesday the 15th. From that point forward, communication was extremely disappointing. We were never told which Chevy dealership our car was sent to, we received little to no updates unless we called ourselves, and we were given very little information about what was actually happening with our vehicle or when we could expect it back. About a week later, we called asking for an update and again received very little information. We also made sure to let them know that we would be leaving to go out of town on July 31st. We were told, "Oh, it shouldn't take any longer than two weeks." Throughout the following weeks, we called multiple times trying to get updates and continued reminding everyone we spoke with that we were leaving town. Then, on July 30th, we received a phone call saying that the rental car we had been given had been sold and needed to be replaced. They did come to us and exchange the rental, which we appreciated, but the overall situation was already frustrating considering we had been without the vehicle we had JUST purchased for over two weeks with very little communication. On the morning of July 31st, I called around 8 a.m. because I needed to get something out of our car before leaving town. Instead of simply telling us where our vehicle was located, someone was sent to go get the EZ pass for us. Again, while we appreciated them doing that, it was frustrating that we still weren't being told where our own vehicle was or what was happening with it. I specifically explained that we would not be home after 12 noon that day and that if the vehicle was finished after that point, it would have to sit there for over a week until we returned. After weeks of waiting and calling for updates, we received a call around 4 p.m. THAT SAME DAY saying the vehicle was finally finished. We also later found out that additional issues occurred while the vehicle was being repaired, which we were not informed about until after the fact when WE OURSELVES read the maintenance reports. Overall, this was an extremely frustrating and disappointing experience. We understand that recalls and repairs happen, and some things may be outside of CarShop's control. However, communication and transparency are absolutely within their control. We should have been informed about the recall from the beginning, told where our vehicle was being sent, updated throughout the repair process, and notified about additional issues as they happened. After having such a positive experience initially, we are extremely disappointed with how everything was handled once problems arose with the vehicle.

Recently had a bit of car trouble and called up roadside assistance. They set everything up for me, which I thought would translate to quick service. That was completely a lie, wish that would be a complimented by a Maury clip. With the roadside assistance you got text updates and a tracking app to let you know where they are at and when they will arrive. This is kind of where it went downhill. The app never updated, at first I thought it was the company I was dealing with for roadside assistance. Turns out, no, it was the tow truck company. It was 45 minutes and no one was there yet. I was sitting near Delmont and they were coming from Cheswick, I understand there was going to be a bit of lag in showing up, but there was no indication that anything had happened. The app still showed that they were at their place of business. At the hour mark I called the company and asked what was going on. Turns out that the driver decided to go pick up a buddy first, then stop and get fuel, then head my way. Thanks man, no worries, it was just cold out, the people in the neighborhood were worried about me and checked up on me more than you did. Mind you, I was attempting to get to the dealership before they closed to get everything in order. Also to try and get myself a rental/ride since I was between home and work. They showed up a hour and 45 minutes after I first made contact for assistance. I am now massively late for work and doubt I would get to the dealership in 15 minutes. Whatever, I talked to them on the phone and told them my dilemma. When we get to the dealership I told them where to put my car down at. That was disregarded totally. They sat it down where they wanted. I then had to right a note with a description of my vehicle and where it was parked on the lot to leave with my key. It was a headache that was topped off by an awkward ride to the dealership. Like I said at the beginning of the review I was hoping for the best, but ended up in a near nightmare.

They don't have much of a waiting area so I found that it is more convenient for me to drop my car off the evening before my appointment. (This is the only reason I deducted a star.) If they are already closed they have a drop box for your key at the front door. The day of my appointment they called me at 10:30 a.m. and my car was already done! The first inspection for a new customer is free and for every five oil changes you get one oil change free!

I had it towed here a year ago and the initial diagnosis was that I needed to replace the timing chain... $4k job. I OK'd the work and received a call when the parts came in. While prepping to do the tear down, the team found a loose ground cable. Instead of proceeding with the job and capitalizing on the customer, they verified that the cable was the issue and told me to come get the car. No charge. When I went to pick up the car the shop owner and his mother were just the loveliest people and gave us a tour of the shop and shared some great family stories with us. I left them "beer money" as a thanks for being honest and we went on our way. Needless to say, I ended up spending the $4k and taking the BMW back there to have the timing chain fixed as preventative maintenance and will continue to take our BMW there in the future.
