KOHIKO COFFEE HOUSE is a popular matcha spot located in Sugar Land Houston. They currently are using KETTL matcha (according to their menu). Very yummy and smooth. I ordered the Hinata & Uji Hamare. I liked the Uji much better! The service was really nice and quick. I love that they hand whisk each drink as well. I also loved that they reuse the cartons as drink holders. The interior is a bit small but enough seating if you want to chill or study. Parking outside is limited though!
The Kenny's Cappuccino (espresso, matcha, red bean paste, genmai tea syrup, milk) was light yet creamy. It's warm and nutty like the description. For dine-in (warm), it comes in a cute double-walled glass cup (Kinto) on a wood saucer. The music (EDM or rave-like) playing is a little louder than expected for a coffee house. It was quite busy on Memorial Day. I sat at one of the study nooks, which had ample space for my big bag, drink and notebook.
Quiet place with multiple solo sections for sitting and great for studying with moderate quality coffee. If you are looking for a place to focus on your task while enjoying your coffee I recommend this place. Their coffee also is not the best but I liked the banana syrup that I haven't tried elsewhere before. The person behind the counter who took my order seemed nice and respectful.
I was in the Sugar Land area and was craving matcha so badly. I was thoroughly surprised by this place and would highly recommend! Very cute coffee spot. Large windows with sunlight coming through. Some people are studying. Some people are hanging with their friends. I had their hojicha and now have a new obsession! The only comment I have is the parking lot in that area is small.
Very cute and busy cafe, Service didn't take long and was well worth the very short wait. Seating outside was such a nice addition especially for a nice day. This is such a special cafe doing amazing specialty drinks! If you ever have the time to enjoy a coffee definitely spend your money here! The team is so kind and you will not be disappointed with the pastries either! So well made and delicious.

I would suggest coming in early to snag a seat. The staff were attentive & friendly. I was able to get my drink pretty quick. Parking is an issue since they shares the parking lot with other businesses in the complex. They have two reserved spots & two 10 minute parking spots. For me, I didn't mind since I was going to be in & out. I got a matcha latte with banana syrup. The only thing I wish it had a stronger banana taste since it was an extra $1 for syrup. It was very subtle. Overall, the matcha was good. I would come back again to try their other drinks like the Moshi Moshi.
I've come to Kohiko a few times. I love the ambiance inside - it gives off a busy and bustling feeling and is a great place to hang out or work. The inside is super welcoming and cozy, and all the staff were friendly and helpful. The place is pretty small, so seating is pretty limited, and the overflow seating is super isolated. I've tried a few of the drinks. Okinawa latte (6/10) - decent flavor, but the black sesame was very powdery and fine-grained. Tasted pretty dry and was a bit hard to drink because of how grainy it was Moshi Moshi (8/10) - really good matcha drink overall, but the banana came through a little too strong and made it feel slightly imbalanced Houjicoco (10/10) - my favorite by far. All the flavors worked really well together, and it was just a really well-made drink The place is kind of expensive, compared to other places in the area, but the cost is definitely justified and everything is delicious.

They place is a bit small but have good study areas. They recently expanded and have another section where you can sit if the main area is full.
I got the Moshi Moshi, and it brings a unique twist to flavored coffee. You can taste a subtle banana note blended with the coffee, which honestly feels like having dessert with your drink. It quickly became one of my favorite coffee flavors. The ambience was really nice, whether you're studying or just chatting with friends while playing board games. I've been asked which is my Houston-area coffee fave, and there are several that stick out, for sure. But there is one that, to me, sticks out above the rest thus far, and it's out in Sugar Land - Kohiko Coffee House. Coffee here is different with the flavors available, but most importantly, absolutely delicious. My go-to here is the Okinawa Latte. Basic summary - it's a black sesame latte. Just picture the mix of that black sesame taste with the milky notes of a typical latte (I prefer oat milk with my lattes). It's an amazing mix. A quick note - Kohiko has won awards for its latte art. The latte art is there for you if you sit in and have your coffee there as opposed to taking out to go in a take-out cup. The latte art usually is encouraging enough for me to make my decision to stay at Kohiko a little bit as I enjoy my coffee. The Okinawa is good enough that I could stick with that for the rest of eternity. However, for the sake of this write-up, I did try some other flavors, and yes, there are other good options. In fact, the very first drink I tried at Kohiko was the Moshi Moshi, which has a banana brown sugar feel to it. This drink was a bit sweet for my tastes, but I also understand this is highly subjective and it seems like this is one of the faves usually recommended by the workers there. Today, I tried the Kenny's Cappucino with oat milk. Ok, now we've got another winner, in my humble opinion. Red bean paste combines with the milky notes here and it is quite wonderful. I still like the Okinawa Latte most though, but now I'll be bouncing back and forth between the Okinawa and the Kenny's. Either way, these are both delicious options. And you know what they say... options are good! Service - the entire staff is attentive and friendly. I was super impressed once when I walked in after perhaps a month away, and I was still recognized. Inside, there are different kinds of seating. There are couch-like seats around a table that's more communal. There are bar-type stools to sit by the counter. And there are isolated tables with dividers if people want to sit there and enjoy their coffee as they knock out their work or studies for the day. Parking - very limited in the plaza where Kohiko is located. HOWEVER, and this is a big however, street parking nearby is free and very easy to find in the entrance street to the neighboring residential subdivision. I tend to stop by here fairly often after visiting my parents. Sugar Land, after all, is where I grew up. I understand inconvenience may make it hard for people to go out of their way to Sugar Land for this, but I do think the black sesame latte is worth trying at least once in your life and hope that the readers here get their chance to experience the wonderfulness that Kohiko brings.
Kohiko has been in Sugarland for a year now. I noticed that they only have 2 parking spaces right in front of the establishment. Otherwise, you will need to park on the other end of the small shopping center, which is what I did. Small menu but very pleasant customer service. There is a lot of outdoor covered seating. The inside has individual spaces if you want to read or work silently.
Finally found a great specialty coffee shop next to my house. I think they are a multi-roaster shop. Today, they had an Ethiopian bean from Mad Lab and a Peruvian bean from Gloom. Ambiance: looks like a place where people go to study and do quiet work Service: very friendly read more

Amazing coffee, I had a chance to speak with the owner when they first opened and another time he helped to make my drink more sweet how I liked it. The interior is super pretty, pokemon vibes are the best vibes- they offer free pokemon cards now which I thought was so thoughtful especially for kids. My favorite order is now their competition cappuccino- I usually get to go because it gets PACKED in the main space, but they give you a shot espresso, tonic water and your drink when you order for here. I think I got a buckwheat syrup and omg it was amazing. I love their latte with orange syrup and their moshi moshi which has banana. I always ask for extra syrup but one of these days I'm going to ask for a plain latte or maybe a pour over if they have that. Came here to grab a quick coffee. There's limited parking in front of the store, but you can usually find street parking depending on how busy it is. We came on a Sunday, so it was pretty packed, but we were still able to find street parking. The shop itself is really cute and has a few study cubicles, which I thought was convenient. It was pretty loud inside, though, and seating is a bit limited, so if it's busy, you might have to sit in their lounge one storefront down. Despite the long line, our drinks came out pretty quickly, and the cashier was very friendly. We ended up sitting outside, which was really nice on a sunny day. I got the moshi moshi latte, and it had a strong banana bread flavor that was smooth and not overpowering. My fiancé got a pour-over with a splash of milk. He said it tasted a little watered down, but overall still smooth and not burnt. read more

Came here after hearing about this place for so long! I got an iced brown sugar latte, it was goo! Their specialty flavors were a bit more unique and I wasn't feeling brave to venture out and try them, so I'll definitely have to come back. Service and ambience were nice, as well! read more

I feel like this place is a little bit overhyped. It does have its own special take on things and is a great hangout spot. It has lots of seating for being a coffee shop and it's really cute. There's a side longer, cubicles to get work done, long table, cozy seating, and patio seating. They have some different kinds of options like matcha based things. I got the Kenny's cappuccino iced it is actually suppose to be hot but I wanted it iced and with oat milk. It was a little bitter at the bottom but I don't think I would order that drink again. I would like to try their matcha drinks next time. The coffees is more traditional in that it's bitter. Overall, the place is a great place to hang out and get work done. What a cute coffee shop! I happened on this side of town to meet a friend for a chat. This coffee shop is small with outdoor seating and dedicated cubbies for studying. Beware there will be a line, and it's long but it moves quickly. They have a diverse menu including a variety coffee drinks and pastries. They were celebrating a year open so there was a raffle and other goodies avaliable There is also outdoor seating in addition to indoor. The owner of the coffee bar was present and very friendly. The Matcha comes unsweetened, it has great color and doesn't get over powered with the ratio of syrup they add. The ginger syrup was a had all the right notes that highlighted their vibrant matcha powder. There is so much natural lighting and the open kitchen is just so inviting and aesthetic. A great matcha cafe to get some work done at. The parking is EXTREMELY limited and indoor seating as well. This place is constantly busy so don't be surprised if you can't get a table inside. read more
You know a place is good when its constantly a rolling amount of customers within a few minutes. Most of them taking their drinks to go. I typically a little hesitant to trust content creators as they hype up everything without really reviewing it without bias. This time was a success. I went to a coffee house yesterday and it was nothing my liking. This for sure is good quality and the match is rich in flavor. I don't like sweet and the Barnstable helped me out by saying I should try the Buckwheat along side the match. It paired perfectly. Ver light in sweetness level and doesn't take away from the matcha. The bariatas and staff are super nice. The inside is small, but they make good use of the space. They even have little books for those who have to focus on work or school. They have an outdoor patio as well. I. Not used to humidity so I sat at the bar. There's a few chairs here and about two tables inside. One that is a community table amd another that would be good for a small group or family to use. Parking area is small, as there are many other businesses within this complex that seem to drive I. A lot of customers. Overall a good coffee shop. They have coffee for those coffee lovers. I already had a few cups this morning. Came by on a Sunday afternoon and the place was packed with a line out the door. Parking is a little tricky since most spots are reserved for the other suites, but there's street parking nearby. I ordered the matcha latte with Uji Homare matcha and brown sugar syrup. It was really good, but I was a little bummed that the cup wasn't filled all the way to the top. read more

Went here on for a date after deciding on a matcha for a little drink, and honestly going in already had pretty high expectations from previous reviews raving how good the matcha and I'm glad to report to the chat, that the matcha was indeed as the kids say "bussin". So I went with the houjicha matcha latte, with simple brown sugar syrup and whole milk. Now if you love matcha, you'll for SURE love the shop but if you love matcha and just maybe wanted a slightly different horizontally similar flavor profile you know with a little bit of a stronger nutty flavor then for sure go with the houjicha. My date went with the same one but with a black sesame syrup and it honestly slapped even harder. Employees were a great vibe everyone was super nice, the shop was small and quiet and had a lot of natural lighting I with a little outdoor area. Large island counter that was free from clutter and had these cute Pokemon figures. Vibe was an 11/10. ALSO we got a free croissant since they were closing up and had an extra one. Sometimes when life gives you delicious lemonade and you wonder if it can get any better, boom out of nowhere...comes a croissant. If there's one thing about Kohiko that you should know--it's that these baristas really know what they're doing! I've been here a couple times, and each time, my drink has been a unique blend of flavors and consistently high quality. I think their matcha especially stands out. It is unsweetened, but very high quality and rich in flavor. Adding a syrup to your matcha latte also adds a perfect dash of sweetness. This most recent time, I ordered an Iced Uji Matcha Latte with oat milk and buckwheat syrup. I had never seen buckwheat syrup offered at another establishment, so it definitely caught my eye on the menu, and I decided to try it. It was so yummy--earthy, nutty, and sweet. I highly recommend trying it. This place also has a nice ambiance. While it is a bit small, it's a great place to come study, especially if you're alone (they have a wall of little study nooks built for one person). Stopped by on a Friday morning and had no trouble finding parking, I scored a spot right out front! I was super excited to try the matcha here. I'd just come back from a trip where I had amazing matcha multiple times, so I was looking for my next good find. I love exploring new coffee shops, and this one looked adorable online, so it was an easy choice. I ordered the Iced Uji Matcha with buckwheat syrup. Heads up: their matcha comes unsweetened, so you'll need to pick a sweetener. Buckwheat wouldn't normally be my go-to, but the barista's description piqued my interest. Taste wise, it reminded me a bit of Honey Nut Cheerios (in a good way!). I didn't hate it, but I'm not sure it was my favorite. I'll probably try the mango flavor next time. To eat, I grabbed the dulce de leche shortbread cookie and the turkey & goat cheese croissant. Both were delicious! The croissant had just the right amount of filling, and the outside had that perfect crispy/soft texture. The ambience was really nice, cozy, modern, and definitely a spot you could hang out in for a bit to work or catch up with a friend. There's a good amount of seating and some pretty cute merch, too. Definitely a solid, aesthetically pleasing vibe. Overall: I had a great experience and will be back to try another matcha flavor. Came here on a Saturday afternoon. The line wasn't long but there were plenty of people inside hanging out. The place is bigger than I thought it would be and well decorated. Plenty of places to sit. Service was quick and baristas are super friendly. I ordered a matcha latte with brown sugar syrup. I normally do strawberry at other places so wanted to try something new. kohiko is a great place to do work if you can snag a seat, and the staff are super friendly! drinks are overall okay. i tried the okinawa latte, which was a bit watered down, and i wish the black sesame flavor came through more. the kenny's cappuccino was mildly sweet with a nice earthy flavor. it might be a little overhyped, but i do appreciate their unique, asian inspired flavors and would still come back to try more :) read more
This place is no secret to Houston anymore, and for good reason! This is probably one of the better cafes for a good Hojicha. I've been multiple times now, even though it's quite out of the way for me the drinks are certainly worth the hassle. Their aesthetic is really strong, lending itself to be a great spot for people to come study with a limited outdoor area that might be good for larger groups. It's worth the drive if you're looking for some gooooood drinks. read more

The ambiance and service was good! We had the almond and chocolate croissant (ask for it to warmed) and it was fluffy and crisp. We also tried all of their matcha specialties series and they were all v good. You can test the matcha in all of them! Theres cute sitting area so it's a perfect place to study - highly recommend if you're in the area. read more

Come in to see the interior design. Watch the matcha whisking process. Leave with a great matcha drink to taste. It's a small tea shop. It's a nice set for work / study but try your luck first. Parking is rather limited. There are some 'cubies' for individual sitting, 5-6 chairs facing the matcha making bar, 1 coffee table for 4 and a long table for a bit more. Otherwise, try sitting at their covered patio (?!). There are many choices of matcha style, hot or cold, latte and even sesame style. Or if you want coffee, that's fine too! The staff is really kind at explaining the difference of all. Once on order, you can watch their drink preparation process and I think that's mesmerizing. Hot water is a station, cold water is another, whisking is behind, coffee machine in the other corner. So many steps yet, organized and smooth. Just like that tea. Taste is very matcha so you gotta like it. Not the prepared green drink you'd buy. This place is giving me inspiration for my own dreamy tea/coffee bar at home. I was super excited to try kohiko after seeing all the hype on social media, but it ended up being so disappointing. I don't even want to say I tried the wrong drink because regardless, the matcha should be good, right? I got the uji homare latte with brown sugar syrup. I paid over $8 for the drink. At a price like that, I'd expect a specialty latte... It was way too milky, and I couldn't even taste the brown sugar syrup. Literally looked like there was only half a pump in there. I just chugged it to finish it, not because I was enjoying it. While there are two different options to choose from for the matcha, I honestly don't think there would have been a distinct difference btwn the two... both would've still just tasted super watered down/milky. At least the service was great, and the interior is nice! However, I won't be back. read more
I don't get the hype? I love the everything black sesame so I got the Okinawa latte. It was just ok. It's also pretty pricey for it to be mostly ice and not even filled all the way. I've heard so many good things about Kohiko's matcha and I had high expectations! I came on a sunday morning and it was packed! There was limited parking and only a couple of seats at their big table available. A lot of my relatives did not know what to get and the barista was super helpful with recommendations according to the taste profile that we described. I got the uji latte with brown sugar. I loved the matcha flavor and felt like it balanced with the milk nicely. My only complaint would be that I couldn't really taste the brown sugar. 8/10 though! My aunt got the uji latte with no syrup and thought it was perfectly bitter and earthy. My cousin and grandma really liked their Okinawa latte too. read more

Great for those studying. A small love seat and a community table then bar stool seating. Parking can be a bit tricky. Very limited parking in the actual lot only because it is a shared lot with other businesses. Your best bet is going to be street parking. Pastries are delicious. They have sweet and savory croissant and mini ones also. Different selections on matcha and well as non matcha and non caffeine options. Matcha is delicious and can choose your sweetness level. Love the pokemon decor and they have a pokemon stop if you play Pokemon go. They do have outside seating but not sure how it would be in Houston heat. read more
I loved working at this cafe. I wanted to try something different and the black sesame latte was amazing. Perfect balance of nutty and umami flavors without being too sweet. Would highly recommend trying it out. They have plenty of seating and even an outdoor area. The vibes are perfect if you're looking to get some work done. The only downside is that parking is a little limited. 10/10 would come back! read more
