    City Kabob Special
    Tony P.

Second time ordering from here. Both times I've questioned the prices for my orders, and this time it was about $27 total for takeout. Got the city kabob special and it came with naan bread. In my opinion, this is not worth almost $30 at ALL. Maybe $20 at most. Flavor is good, but meat was dry and the lamb was very chewy. Not worth the price point. Oh yeah...no sauce at all... so I ate everything dry lol I'll be looking for another spot after this.

Restaurant is tucked between a 7-11 and McDonald's but not difficult to locate. Ambiance is unassuming from the outside and welcoming as soon as you step inside. Stopped in to pick up two halal chicken meals and a bhindi masala vegetarian meal to go. Staff were super friendly and order was ready in no time - they were kind enough to offer a complimentary cup of soup while the order was being packed up - what a nice touch. The food smelled amazing the whole ride home! We warmed up the entrees with rice and channa (chick pea side dish) and thoroughly enjoyed both meals! Savory without being too salty and very filling. Sooo many additional items on the menu to try - definitely recommend a visit!

Small place hidden behind the liquor store and McDonald's but big flavor and amazing options. Chicken, chickpeas and lentils for a delicious healthy lunch. All you can eat buffet is the best! Fluffiest, freshest naan bread. The service was super friendly and helpful as it was my first time there. Their pink dessert was so light and airy and not too sweet. I want to go back asap!

Soooo goooooood! The naan was so fresh and fluffiest I ever had. I loved that it wasn't greasy. The chickpeas are really good, it was my favorite. I will definitely be back!

Free water with cucumbers and lemon they always refill it

Arlington's best kept secret for Indian buffet. Genuinely the best butter chicken in the area. Their buffet is also the most affordable in the area. This is my favorite buffet to go to in Arlington. The food is always fresh. They always bring out more. They always use high-quality ingredients. I noticed pistachio almonds in the desserts. The mango lasting is always fresh. The desserts are always fresh. The drink refrigerator has many flavors to choose from Overall, they are very considerate to every customer that comes through the door, which is very nice you can eat in peace watch music and relax.

Went here for lunch during the week and tried their Al-U-Can eat buffet. For around $14, that's a price that can't be beat in Arlington! Though it's mostly chicken dishes (butter chicken, paneer, tandoori, and curried) they make a great goat curry - but you would have to order that from the menu. It's not part of the buffet. It makes a good weekday lunch to bring workmates when the office is slow and you can get away for a while. Or if your time is short and you just want to get in, eat and get back to work. I came here with friends one weekday for lunch. Service was prompt and friendly and the nice thing is that they offer a lunch buffet for $13.95, which offered tandoori chicken, naan, saag, channa, nice rice, chtuneys and many more items. We also ordered some fresh pakora and samosa too. Everything we ate was perfectly spiced and made just like I expect - really good with nice heat! Definitely recommend stopping in if you're in the area and yearning for curry!

May not look overly tidy nor fancy, but the staff do a great job on overshadowing the ambiance. This time we went for Poori, halwa, channa and accompanied by paki chai. So here is the thing. Throughout DMV, it is hard to find all the above that has the perfect flavor, not to crispy, nor too soft poori. Or channa too spicy, not well cooked or not flavorful. Or the tea just lacks that sting to the taste. After tried many poori halwa serving places Tosso, Niralla Sweets, Cha lounge, Shineys and one Bombay at Tyson's) I can say with certainty, that Ravi Kaboob has the best combo. They even had cashew in the halwa in addition to other dry fruits and the halwa wasn't all about sugar and semolina, but had the good blend so it accompanied well to the chai. Bottom line, if you can see away from the ambiance and just want to have the best poori halwa channa weekend breakfast, this is def place to go! But be sure to call upfront, because even though they are supposed to have it from 1100-4.00 in the weekend, they simply run out way before that time. Probably good to ask them to save your portions and confirm your timely arrival.

PLEASE READ BEFORE GOING:…read more I decided to give this place a try after being recommended their Chapli Kabobs and being told they were the best. I couldn't resist and decided to treat my mom to a dinner on Mother's Day. What we ordered: Chapli kabobs, lamb karahi, chicken biryani, lassi and chai. Food was okay, i honestly think any Pakistani moms' biryani would be better. Chapli kabobs were pretty good but not to die for. And i honestly think you can find better karahi for cheaper. I loved their chai the most out of everything. Total came down to around $120. Plenty of parking is available in the back. But it was completely empty when we walked in around 5pm on a Sunday. This place has ROACHES. When we got our naan for the karahi, it came on a skewer stand that came out of a wooden block. As soon as the waiter set it on the table and left, a baby roach crawled out of the wooden block. I killed it and told the waiter and the only thing he said was "Oh my God" and took it back to the kitchen. No apology or acknowledgment. But there was some yelling heard from the kitchen. We got our new fresh naan on a plate this time. After we got our chai and were relaxing, I look up towards the tv, there is ANOTHER ROACH crawling up. I got the check and just wanted to leave. The bathrooms were clean enough but there was a leak coming from the flush handle in the women's bathroom and there was a bucket underneath for the water to drip. Overall, I would not recommend and would rather try the other Middle Eastern/South Asian restaurants in the area to try.

Here's my first guess: This place is awesome and the people in the know don't want others knowing about it. This is the one that makes the most sense. They already do a brisk business and the current customers don't want to wait any longer than they already have to. My second guess: some people are totally clueless and don't understand that this is a place where your meal is an event and not just dinner. If you want to eat and run, go to McDonalds. This is the place where you come to eat, sip your chai, and enjoy the company of those around you. Food takes time to cook...figure it out people. Okay...about the food: WOW! So delicious and all perfectly cooked. I have to open with the one dish that was absolutely stunning: the lamb chops. The seasoning was spot on and flavorful while the cook point (which appears to be hard for many restaurants it seems) was flawless. Tender from end-to-end without a sign of chewiness. Next up on the menu hit parade was the Chapli Kebab. That little bit of char on the outside combined with the seasoned meat made this a repeat order for sure. Check the pics and you'll see what I'm talking about. The last but definitely not least on the list was the massive Namkeen Chicken Tikka. There was enough food on this order for three people and it was awesome! There was a smokiness to the meat that permeated beautifully and each piece was amazingly tender. We couldn't finish this one and it ended up in the to-go bag. Seriously, it huge. The service, decor, and general ambiance of Shinwari was so great too. The staff were totally professional and the families enjoying the props (which included a auto rickshaw) where fun to watch. I will be coming back here FOR SURE. Bring a close friend or five and enjoy an amazing evening.
