Just picked up food from here, and it was a very disappointing experience. I had to wait almost an hour for my order, only to get food that was not just bland but completely inedible. The seekh kabab was so hard you could practically beat a drum with it. I'm still wondering how anyone could look at that and think it was acceptable to serve to a customer. What made it even more frustrating was that I didn't discover the problem until I got home. At that point, there was no practical way to return to the restaurant or get a refund. I ordered from here on the Too Good To Go app. It was my first time using the app, and i was excited because the chicken platter sounded good to me, and for a great price of $10.99. I have been a little scared to do surprise bags from TGTG since i cannot eat pork, or lamb, so I was surprised this option told me what was in it, since it's supposed to be a surprise, but thought it would be a good option as I love chicken platters, and have never been here. When getting to the restaurant, it was easy to find and there was a ton of parking. Upon walking in, the gentleman at the front desk was nice and welcoming. He helped me figure out how to tell the TGTG app that i have arrived. However, he proceeded to tell me 3 times how I should next time order at the counter, or over the phone, since TGTG takes a majority of the money and how their food is fresh and they deserve to be paid in full. I agreed with him, and told him i did not know and next time I will. But he then told me 2 more times, and i felt like i was being scolded for using the app. TGTG is supposed to be for cheaper surprise bags to my knowledge, so them using it as a marketing tactic is smart in a way but I also do not feel like i should be shamed for using it, since it did get me in the door, and that's not what the app is technically supposed to be used for. Restaurant is tucked between a 7-11 and McDonald's but not difficult to locate. Ambiance is unassuming from the outside and welcoming as soon as you step inside. Stopped in to pick up two halal chicken meals and a bhindi masala vegetarian meal to go. Staff were super friendly and order was ready in no time - they were kind enough to offer a complimentary cup of soup while the order was being packed up - what a nice touch. Had a tasty Too Good To Go meal at City Kabob! I got the Kabob Platter which was a delicious mix of spicy Tandoori Chicken - perfectly cooked, soft, and seasoned. Very flavorful with a charcoal grill and was quite moist! Their Channa Masala was soft and packed a great spice blend that complimented the rice and chicken. The naan was a bit on the doughy side. I normally don't leave reviews, but this really bothered me and I think people should know. I ordered two dishes, each around $14.95, so my total was about $29. Everything seemed fine at the time. A month later, I was looking through my bank statement and noticed two charges on the same day -- one that matched my $29 order, and another random charge for about $26. I called the restaurant before going there, and the guy on the phone responded like we had already talked about this before. It honestly made me feel like maybe someone else had the same problem, because that was my first time calling them. It felt weird. When I went in to clear things up, the guy told me the $29 I originally paid was a "mistake" because they had recently updated their prices and the same dishes were now $37. But here's the thing: I ordered when the price was $29, so that should've been the price I paid. You can't raise the price after someone already ate the food. That just doesn't make sense. Even after I showed him both charges on my bank statement, it didn't help. He only gave me $20 back, and the whole time he was acting rude and kind of implying that maybe I had ordered more food and was trying to get money back. That really annoyed me because I know what I ordered. He also asked me for the original paper receipt... but honestly, who keeps a food receipt for a month? Most people throw it out the same day. And what really pushed me over the edge was when he got loud with me in front of other customers. It was embarrassing and unnecessary. When I asked to speak with a manager, he just said, "There's no manager -- I'm the manager," in a really dismissive tone. I'm not trying to attack the restaurant. We've heard about this place before but it was our first opportunity to try it out. We did pick up, and the place was tucked in the back of a shopping plaza. Plenty of parking so easy for pick up. The inside was rather spacious but empty. Seems like they have an all you can eat buffet for lunch. There were also a handful of deals printed out on the wall. Overall the food was pretty good. They give a lot of protein. I kinda wished there was a little something else in the butter chicken but the sauce flavor was good. The chicken was a little dry. The combo plate was also pretty good. I have been curious about City Kabob & Curry House for awhile now, so when my brother and mom were in town visiting and said they wanted Indian delivery, I thought this would be a good time to give it a try. On the plus side, delivery was quick and accurate. Portions are very large so expect multiple meals out of one dish. The menu variety is nice so you can go either Indian or the kabob route. Here is what we tried: *chicken tikka masala- My brother ordered this and said "it's not the best but not the worst; it's ok". That is how he sums up most things, so I wasn't too surprised. It was good enough he ate the rest of his meal the next day. *Lamb vindaloo (extra spicy)- My husband ordered this and he had similar sentiments that it was ok. The lamb was tender. Portions of lamb and potatoes were large. The spice level, however, could be classified more as mild and definitely NOT extra spicy. **both dishes came with extremely generous rice portions and regular naan. The rice was ok (see a theme here....) but the naan, frankly, was awful. Droopy, soggy, flavorless. *Whole portion tandoori chicken-My mom and I split this and it is more than enough for two. I was actually really disappointed after reading reviews highlighting the tandoori chicken. There were a lot of parts that were burnt on the outside and little chicken beneath them. The chicken was juicy and tender in some areas and quite dry in others. The rice was fine, didn't really feel the "need" for the "salad" of 2 tomatoes and 2 cucumbers. The chickpeas, though, were fire! I loved the spicy flavoring and I used the rich sauce as a way to make the naan tolerable for 1-2 bites. I'm glad I now know what the deal with City Kabob & Curry House is because, most likely, I will not be ordering from here again with the better Indian and kabob options that exist elsewhere nearby. read more

I came in here last minute alone for iftar. From calling and the gentleman over the phone being so welcoming to coming in, everything was phenomenal. It's hard getting good service anywhere and this place was so nice! I sat in my own booth, the gentleman even said I could have my own privacy by letting down the curtains. I even prayed in the back inside a smaller room. I'll be honest the chicken was a 8/10 and the seekh kabob a 9/10 and the chickpeas a 10/10! They were so generous to give me some slight appetizers to break my fast for free and even gave me tea afterwards and when I asked for a biscuit or something the man said he has something as they were out of desserts. The kabob craving was strong so I went ahead and searched kabob delivery and found City Kabob and Curry House-Arlington as FREE DELIVERY. Yes, you read that right, it's free delivery. Other kabob places in the area have delivery fees and they are ridiculous, almost the same price as one meal so I was happy with City Kabob. It is right on Columbia Pike where I live so it wasn't too far for delivery. We ordered Lamb Kabob and Seekh Kabob and total was $31.79 including taxes. We requested extra chutney because we looooveeee chutney! The delivery was quick and it was door to door service, I was so shook. I didn't have to get out of my apartment and let the delivery guy in. The food was delicious, it is as tasty as the other kabob places we have tried in the area. Since the food came so quickly, it was still fresh. I really loved the beef kabob, it was so yummy. My boyfriend enjoyed the lamb kabob and told me he had food coma right after. OMG the chickpeas were outstanding and just delicious!
