Amazing. This is where you take the out of towners, it's the best Indian food in the area. Everything tastes incredibly fresh, high-quality, and full of flavor. I first came for the lunch buffet, and they had nearly 20 different items to choose from--plenty of variety, and everything I tried was excellent. I came back for dinner with family visiting from out of town, and it turned into an even better experience. It was my mother-in-law's first time trying Indian food, and the owner (or who I believe was the owner) took the time to walk her through the dishes and answer all her questions. That level of care really stood out. We had a group with very different spice tolerances, and every dish was perfectly executed. The mild dishes were still rich and flavorful, while the "Indian hot" options had the right amount of heat--definitely a kick, but in the best way. Even the kids cleaned their plates, which says a lot. To top it off, we had pistachio ice cream for dessert, and it was out. of. this. world. I ordered the Rogan Josh--my personal favorite--and was impressed by the generous portions and the large, tender chunks of meat. Across the board, the chicken, goat, and lamb dishes had a great meat-to-sauce ratio, which you don't always find. I honestly can't say enough good things about this place. Do not eat here if you like spicy food. Great otherwise. I really struggled between three and four stars. We have eaten here four times. Each time the food was great, and we like spicy heat. The Vindaloo is not spicy at all, and the king of curries should be! I went so far as to tell my waiter on the fourth trip that it never comes spicy even when I ask, and I begged them to make it "extra, extra, extra spicy ... very, very hot". The waiter laughed and said "ok!" When it came, the Vindaloo had great flavor and not a bit of heat ... for the fourth time. Hurry and come here for a wonderful meal! We walked in to find a pleasant, and clean restaurant. Right away one smells the pleasant aromas, so when our waiter brought the menu, we were eager to order. Elaine had lamb vindaloo and I had the Kohinoor Special dinner. Of course, first we needed an appetizer, and two piping hot vegetable samosas did the trick. Our waiter was prompt, attentive and very gracious, with the knack of making each customer feel special. Driving to Athens we passed a new Indian Restaurant. I am always on the hunt for good Indian cuisine. This restaurant serves a buffet each day for $13.95. If you like Indian food, please stop by. We were in a hurry and ordered buffet to go. The restaurant at noon was crowded. The buffet was stocked with foods so we decided buffet to go. I picked out chicken tikka masala, white rice, yellow rice with kidney beans, cauliflower, spinach, and tandoori chicken. We were given a container for dessert and naan was wrapped in foil. I used my dessert container to put onion and carrot chutney. Both chutneys were excellent. They tasted like the chutneys served at the Jordan Lane restaurant back in 2003. 5/5 The chicken tikka masala was excellent. It's the best I have eaten since the restaurant on Jordan Lane changed owners and managers and food quality went south. Kohinoor chicken tikka masala is fire! 5/5 The tandoori chicken was excellent. As was the spinach, cauliflower, and rices. Truly everything was overwhelmingly delicious. If I had eaten in the restaurant, I would have eaten way more food than i shI haven't had good Indian food in a very long time. By the way my definition of good is not too salty, not too sweet, good ratio of meats and/or vegetables to sauce, and not flaming hot. A little spice is good. Vindaloo spice when I ask for mild or medium isn't good. This visit was so tasty I am looking forward to my next visit there. They have the best Indian food around in my humble opinion. I will not recommend to others. Waste of money for worst food. 4 of us went to this restaurant for Dinner. we order Chicken Tali, Tandoori Prawns, Tomato Soup, Egg Biryani. Chicken Tali came with 3 curries. One chicken curry, chicken tasted like stale food. Dal Makhni is like water with some dal no taste at all. The other curry mixed vegetables that also tasted bad. Prawn Tandoori came with just 8 prawns and lot of Onions on the bottom. No taste for Prawn just cooked with out any spices. Egg biryani is so oily. Masalaa are not crushed properly, in between we found egg shells multiple times. Tomato soup was like rasam added with sugar. Overall the bill was $100. We regret going there. Very bad experience. This Indian food is easily the best in the area. I am happy with the butter chicken every time I order here. The staff also cares here. They go out of their way often to ensure I have a good experience. I recommend this restaurant and will visit it often. read more

This was my second visit and It was a delight as much as the first, the whole place is clean and neat, decor and music is nicely paired also. The price for buffet was more reasonable than other Indian buffets and the quality was as much and more valuable and delicious. I was pleasantly impressed of my ability to eat healthy and have a vast variety of Indian cuisine. The wait staff was quick to fill my water and remove an empty plate as I was on my next trip to the buffet to repeat the delicious finds and visit the fruit & dessert also provided on the buffet. I also enjoyed that the mango lassi yoghurt drink came with the buffet at no added cost. May i suggest you come and try, I believe you will enjoy it. read more

We came in on Easter and they had the Buffett and made us feel like the buffet was the only option at the time but I did see someone else with a menu that they didn't offer us when they sat us and they didn't even asked us what we wanted to drink they just gave us water . We stopped by and had a vegetarian thali (spread), some bhindi (okra) masala and delicious naan. We were seated immediately upon arrival, served water and the menu within a minute of our arrival. The gentleman waiting on us gave us the advice we sought on some dishes. They specifically ask you whether you want mild, medium or hot. With an Indian palette, I was inclined to order "hot" but I am glad I didn't, because the medium was plenty spicy for us. The food itself was prepared fresh (We can tell because we eat such food all the time). The tables were sparse (good distance away from each other), so we could talk without conversations getting crisscrossed. My measure of success for an Indian restaurant is to ask if given their business would they survive in India and the answer for Kohinoor is a confident "yes". This was also evident from the fact that on a Monday night, the tables were almost all full, so the guys running this business are doing something right. Walked in to order take out because all ordering apps had typical inflated prices. Walked in and they had just opened. The staff looked annoyed when they learned I was just ordering takeout. Placed my order and waited at the front seats. A few other patrons picked up food and left and I could see a bag sitting right on the counter. Surely they see me waiting, I'm the only one here. They are all sitting around til finally I walked back up to the counter and they handed me the bag...thank you. No one could speak up?! "Sir, your order is ready." No awareness. Food was pretty good. This is a great new addition to the Madison restaurant repertoire. It's not a chain and the buffet foods change each day. Today they had chili chicken, lamb byriani, chicken tika masala, tandoori chicken, daal, palaak, korma, and many other items. The ambiance could use some tweaking--it's hospital-bright and the layout is a little odd, but that's my only (tiny) issue. My son and I ate there this past weekend. The food was VERY good, probably the best I've had in this area. We had the Butter Chicken, and the Lamb Madras. The food was served in metal (Handi?) bowls over a burner. Employees were friendly and attentive. On the mildly disappointing side, the portions were a bit smaller, and the prices a bit higher, than elsewhere. We ate here last night. As soon as we arrived, we were seated. It was very clean and the staff was attentive throughout our entire stay. Our food came at a great pace with drinks, appetizers then the main course. We had samosas for the appetizers and they were hot and tasted great! The staff always cleaned off the dirty dishes off our table and refilled our water which was appreciated. We got the tikka masala, chicken korma, chicken vindaloo, and a vegetable makhani.
