We have a higher end HVAC system that only a few companies will even work on. The official Dave Lennox Signature Series. With that being said we have relied on Kohles and Bach with some of the issues we have experienced with this overpriced unit. They did not sell us or install this, but have done a great job with service and any issue we have had. Their technicians are very helpful, friendly and knowledgeable. I would not recommend buying one of these Lennox systems, you will regret it. Lots of problems with very expensive thermostats. But if you have issues with your HVAC Kohles and Bach will take care of you! read more

We had our furnace replaced last week. Our 10 year old one died. We were very empresses with every aspect of our purchase from the honest salesperson Eric offering 3 choices and explaining the benefits of each. The install crew of Jeremy and Sam who were very considerate of our home and did a very, very neat and tidy job of installation. We had a very small glitch with our existing filter system that was taken care of the next day by Brandon. Well, the if the woman who answers, the phone is the face of the business - TURN BACK! She was so Rude, condescending, contrite, and ultimately completely not helpful. I called for help with a broken fireplace remote. I bought four fireplaces from this company and the absolute very least, I would expect is that they know which models they sold me. She demanded I tell her the make and model of the fireplace I don't even know the make and model of my car much less the fireplace I bought - I think that's what I paid them for - could she not simply look it up? Ultimately she did but she made it so painful. At least four times during our conversation she said, very condescendingly " are you sure you checked the batteries?" She wanted me to locate the "receiving panel" and was nearly yelling at me the entire time I was looking for it. Then suddenly " oh, wait, that one doesn't have a receding panel." I will have to have our service manager call you. end of story.OMG !!! Look at the other reviews. They are awful.! That makes me feel better. I thought I was just being sensitive. read more

We had issues with our ac. They sent us very knowledgeable and professional tech. Also it was very quick response time. Pretty much same date and that's in the season. Unfortunately their quote was about 15-20% over the quote we have received from other companies.(we got 4 other bids) so we end up going with somebody else for the repair. read more

Rick Bach, the owner has a VERY fragile ego, is rude and unprofessional. His pricing is high and he requires you pay up front before he will start the repair. Built a new house and had a serious safety issue with the brand new fireplace installed by Kohles & Bach. Instead of sending someone right out, they told me that it would take over a month to get to it and to just shut off the unit and not use it. Yeah nah... never again. Had a great call with tech over the weekend who advised he had all the info and to expect a call from dispatch Monday morning. All on the up and up and looking promising! However...No call from dispatch in AM, I had to call them. Explained situation, get the runaround from unpleasant dispatcher. I explained who I talked to over weekend and that they had all the info needed. Get a call back from different tech, place can't communicate internally when equipment is under warranty. "Oh I didn't know that?" How, no tracking system? I told dispatcher it was under warranty. "Well, I'll have to call you back after talking to my boss." Told them I was getting pissed and we disconnected. Then got that call back. "Yeah it'll be $900+ in labor and to pull permits", yeah nah it won't. Not for a unit UNDER WARRANTY that failed in a little over four years time that I paid $1600 for with major modifications entailed, so that was somewhat fair then. What a joke. Called Rheem directly and worked with someone to troubleshoot and file warranty claim. I know who operates a fair plumbing business. Less than 1/3 of the price delivered and installed. I was expecting around $450, but $900?!? Spent even less. Fantastic! I bought my entire heating and cooling system from Kohles and Bach in 2014 from our remodel, but never again will I call on this company. Spent thousands on it! They did good quality work then, too bad they don't know how to run a fair business. Don't call me either for your service maintenance plans. If that's your level of service, failing to call people back when they need you most, then gouging them when you do, yeah nah. Skip this place. read more

I must be the luckiest person.. I've never had anything but first class service from this company. Phillip and Garrett just left. I called 2 days ago and due to a change in their schedule they were able to come and help out with a burned out sensor on our fireplace that would have typically been scheduled several weeks from now. Phillip has been our 'person' since we replaced our wood burning fireplace with this gas one about 8-10 years ago. He is educated, kind, so friendly and works quickly and neatly. read more

Just spent $8000+ on a new HVAC. Kohles and Bach sent over two guys to put it in and right off the bat they had trouble getting it installed and then it wouldn't drain the condensate from the AC unit. They finally said they got it after a 3rd guy came out. I did not see an drainage coming from the drain tube they installed so I called them to come back out and take a look at it. There was NO RESPONSE. Nobody called nobody showed up nobody emailed or texted nothing. We were flat ignored. My wife called them Saturday and they said they didn't have any techs they could send out. In the mean time my nephew that is a master tech and installer came out and we went under the home in the crawlspace and found the insulation and everything soaking wet and dripping on the ground!!! Now we have water damage and an incorrectly installed HVAC unit and they have yet to get back in touch. I DO NOT RECCOMEND THIS BUSINESS AT ALL!!! I am so impressed with Kohles & Bach! A little backstory.. I had a leak in my furnace back in December. I contacted Schall Ya'll who determined the problem was the collector box & seal, which a replaced for $700. I did not get a second opinion. Fast forward to June, we have a river coming from the furnace. Naturally I'm livid since I already threw money at this 6 months ago. I call Schall again who found the problem to be the coil panel had melted away which left a hole. They could fix this for $1700 or also change out the coil for $2k. My concern was figuring out the underlying issue to prevent this from happening again. He said my filter was completely clogged, which was true, and also asked if I had regular maintenance- guilty again. He also said the furnace is too big for the property but didn't offer a solution. I paid the $79 diagnostic fee and sent him in his way. Because of the cost, I decided I would just buy a new furnace versus pouring money into this one. I had scheduled 5 quotes with various company's around the metro. Eric Steinick is the service manager who came to do my quote with Kohles & Bach. I explained the backstory and why I wanted a new furnace. He insisted on taking a look at it for himself. He found the same issue and told me a new furnace would not fix my problem. Right there, he earned my trust. He showed me the melted coil pan and explained the underlying root cause and how to remediate it. He got someone on the phone right away to see if the part was available. I asked if I could sign up to have K&B do my annual servicing. He said that would save me 15% on the work I needed done for the coil pan which, with labor, was quoted at $750. 1k less that Schall! He thought maybe they would get it fixed by the end of the week. They were able to get it fixed the next day. Eric didn't charge me a diagnostic fee, he didn't try to sell me a new furnace I didn't need, Hell he didn't even try to sell me on the service maintenance. Before he left I thanked him and said I appreciated not being hosed. My experience with the tech that came out and Kathy who scheduled the appointments was all very positive. So far, I am so pleased and so thankful! read more

DON'T call KOHL'S and BACH! But if you do be prepared to pay far more than any other HVAC company will charge. These guys add fee after fee to your bill in order to take every penny they can. So a simple igniter replacement they charged me over $400, $100 of which was paying their tech to go buy the part because they didn't have it on the truck. This is probably the simplest repair that can even be made on a furnace so I called the owner looking for some relief for this exorbitant repair bill. Rick the owner was unwilling to budge even a little. I'll never do business with them again. Complete scam artists. read more

The tech said what he did was only a temporary fix and we would need to call Aspen Air on Monday, and still charged us full price plus overtime. So $400 later, our less than 5 year old furnace still is not fixed. First thing Monday morning I called and asked to speak with a manager. I got in touch with the Service Manager, Eric, and he was less than helpful. He basically told me that "stuff happens" and he needed to pay his guys, so there was nothing at all he could do for me. I then asked to get in contact with Eric's boss. He said he would have him call me. A day and a half later, I finally got in contact with Rick Bach and this is the part the needs to be shared. I have never in my life been spoken to the way this man spoke to me. We had a 17 minute phone conversation and it began by me politely explaining the sequence of events to him and at the end I said "so I am really hoping you can help make this right for me." Mind you, i was not asking for a full refund, all i was asking for was the reimbursement of the $165 for the 2nd trip, since my furnace is still not permanently fixed. I very quickly realized that Rick was not going to help me either. He then proceeded to yell at me for at least 15 minutes. In order to not make this post a million miles long, I will just share some of the highlights of what Rick said to me. And I promise you I am not over exaggerating. -He told me that I was looking for a "free handout" and "free service" and he was not going to give it to me. -He told me I was incompetent because I clearly did not understand what his guys did to my furnace. -He told me that it was my fault that my furnace broke because I did not maintain it (we have lived in this house for 4 months) and that it was not his job to repair it or pay to maintain it. -He said that if I could not afford to maintain my own furnace, my I should move into an apartment so someone could maintain it for me. -He said I should be thanking them for sending someone out on a Friday evening, and that we had heat when the tech left, and it's not his problem that we don't have heat now. -He asked what I did for a living and I informed him that I ran a very large retail store, he said he was very surprised to hear that because the way i was speaking it was clear that i knew nothing about running a business. When I mentioned that I had never filed a complaint about a company before but I would be because I was out of options, he told me that he did not believe that I hadn't in the past because I was not a good person and all I wanted was a "free hand out." -He threatened that he would come to my retail store and tell everyone how I was treating him, even though he was the one who was raising his voice at me and attacking me personally. There were many other outrageous things that this man said to me, but those are just the things that stand out. Very long story short, at the end of the conversation I was absolutely baffled at the way I was treated and extremely upset. I would strongly recommend avoiding this local business. Terrible service or lack there of is more accurate. Won't take on any work unless you buy the product from them. Even if they have installed other units in your house in the past, they still won't come run a gas line unless you purchased the fireplace from them. The employees comment was "We don't wanna touch it." Talk about a missed opportunity to sell great customer service so I purchase something else from them down the road. And now they just lost my geo-thermal business as well. I'll make sure I tell all my friends and family to avoid this vendor. Kohles and Bach installed our geo-thermal 2.5 years ago in Cumming, Iowa. We called them this week to come service it as we're having some troubles with it and they said we're out of their service area. They're going to come down today and help us, but charge extra for the trip (we're 12.4 miles from their office in Johnston). And they said they can't sign us up for their $250 annual service contract because we're out of their area. I find this unreal. You can install it for us, but not come back and service it? And 12.4 miles is too far for you to travel? Really? read more

My experience with this company was less than desirable. They charged $100 for 10 minutes of subpar service. It was my fault for not asking for the quote ahead of time but when I tried to negotiate they were not willing to work with me. I compared what $100 of other more labor consuming services could buy and felt like I was ripped off from what they provided. They also quoted $229 for a blower which I bought and installed on Amazon for $45. Will not use or recommend this company. read more

I would recommend calling this outfit if you are Mike Wallace and are doing a report on scams and overcharging in the heating and cooling industry. Would not come without a credit card on the spot and I now know why. Hugely overpriced "service" labor and parts with a breathtaking markup. When you've gotten the bill and pulled yourself back up off the floor, don't bother trying to talk to them about the charges. You'll be met with stern, argumentative excuses and implied threats of "pay it or else." Your time would be better spent trying to talk down the interest rate on a loan from the mob. read more
