Super easy to work with and the great thing was the repair tech had the part my fridge was needing. Prices were comparable - a little more than other, a little less than others. The only frustration (and I believe it's all appliance repair places in the area), you don't even get a window of time when you schedule - you get a call that morning when they tell you they're going to be at your home. $110 for nothing. I recently hired Westside Appliance Parts and Service for an appliance repair. Upon making the appointment, I was asked for the appliance's make and model number, as well as a description of the problem. An appointment was made for four days later. In the interim, I stumbled upon an independent repairman who had glowing online reviews. After answering a few questions by phone, the repairman suggested I not repair the machine, and instead take whatever repair money he would charge and put it towards the purchase of a new machine. Although disappointed, I was appreciative for his (selfless) advice. Westside Appliance Parts and Service arrived at their designated time. The repairman spent the entire visit on his phone with the manufacturer (Whirlpool), needing instructions on how to do literally everything. Eventually, the repairman told me my dishwasher could not be fixed because parts were no longer available. Now, I can live with the fact that parts are no longer manufactured. What I take issue with is the fact that Westside kept the appointment even though parts were no longer produced. Parts is their speciality. To reiterate, I was required to provide the make and model number days before Westside came out. They knew in advance, or should have known in advance, that parts were no longer available. They are the professionals; they have access to this information. As a consumer, I do not. At the end of the appointment I still had a dishwasher that didn't work and was out more than $100 for my efforts. I am 3rd generation utilizing Westside Appliance Parts and Service. I had Levi with Westside Appliance Repair come out to fix the light in my Maytag dryer. Someone else had "repaired" my dryer and in the mean time, broke my light. He obviously didn't know how to fix it because when Levi showed up, all that needed done was tightening of the bulb. While he had it apart, he checked the rest of the mechanics. He replaced only what was needed. He showed me the problems, let me make the decision and left me the used parts. I was impressed with his honesty, kindness and knowledge. read more

Needed to fix two fireplaces in the house. Repairman for Westside appliance came out. He walked in the door and immediately said he couldn't even talk about the one in kitchen. Didn't serve that brand. Looked at second fireplace in family room. He said he would have to order parts. He then vacumed the dead bugs out of it and cleaned it up. He left without the fireplace working at all. He charged me $130.00. New parts arrived and they wanted about another $400 to get fireplace to work. I left a message to talk to the repairman about what he had done and how much to finish the job. He never returned my call. Over a year now and he never called back and the fireplace is still not working. I could have cleaned it myself for nothing. I recommend no one ever call this business. I've used them in the past and it's no secret how very expensive they are. Very over priced. I still called them for a repair and asked for an estimate of repair. I was told by the gentleman that answered the phone that he could only give me a quote for the part if I was going to install myself. I told him I wasn't going to install the part and needed estimate for install and labor. He was very short with me told me he didn't have access to that information. He told me someone with a "pad" would call me back. I never received a return phone call. Good reason to find a more reasonably priced repair company and move on. read more

Taylor did a great job with fixing our dryer however the pricing is Way OVERPRICED!! $325 just to fix the idler pulley. And when I called them I told them I wanted it looked at and our vents cleaned ...well that's another charge and day of waiting for them to come. We have a microwave under warranty that is not working. 1st they canceled our appointment on a Tuesday, no reason given. Then canceled on us for the rescheduled appointment. This was becaues they didn't have the part they needed. Keep in mind, they have not even looked at the microwave to no what the issue is. Then finally they made it to the 3rd appointment now that they had the "part in". Guy comes in, takes apart microwave and fixes something, then puts it back and said all done. We go to use it that evening and it still doesn't work. They have a lot of excuses not much else. You would think they would test it to make sure it works prior to leaving. I now have to take a 4th day off work. Becaues, they can't even tell you when they will be here until 9am the day of the appointment. So you have no idea when they will arrive. They have been our "go-to" for appliance repair for years but we will never use again. We put off buying a refrigerator for two days because we had a set appointment for them to fix ours today. We paid the $125 service call fee so they could diagnose the problem. When they didn't come on time I called and found out that 1) they didn't receive the necessary parts, and 2) they couldn't tell me when they expect them to come in. They should have at least been professional enough to call and say they weren't coming (which they didn't). Meanwhile we have food in ice chests. They are also at the high end on pricing for services. Higher price is acceptable with great service but they failed that test. If we had expected this, we would have never called them in the first place. read more

We needed a new drain hose for our washing machine. They were super helpful in getting the correct part for us, which was a little difficult because the washer is over 10 years old but in great shape! They ordered it and it came in within a few days. They made sure my husband knew to keep the original clamp on the hose and how to install and he was on his way! Great service, so glad to find a local place that sells Whirlpool manufacturer parts and if it doesn't fit you can bring it back instead of try to guess online. We are having an issue with our new dryer. we called up to get someone to come out to look at it. We got an appointment scheduled. They then called up to reschedule the first appointment to look at the dryer. They said they ordered a dryer door seal without even looking and diagnosing the problem. We contacted the office to get them to first come out but I received a text from the person I guest is the tech that coming out and he was rude in the text he send that I ask him to call but he said he couldn't call after hrs. but he could be rude and text after hours instead. Very frustrating with the lack of communication on this issue. read more

Our front-load clothes washer was leaking intermittently. Westside was able to get us in only two days after we called. Nick did a great job investigating and was also very helpful in explaining what he was doing and communicating about good washer (and dryer) maintenance. Worthless. Had to do nine tenths of the repair myself after they left. The broken component involved a water hose and they turned on and left on the water supply to the broken component which resulted in water spilling all over my laundry room. They also failed to hook up the appliance after they left. Sure glad my appliance was on warranty and I didn't pay these lazy guys with my own money. read more

Buyer beware. We had a ice maker issue on our Whirlpool freezer. They came out in about a week (no big issue on the time it took to get them here). Once they got here, there was a $110 trip charge. $130 for a new ice maker. And $165 labor for the 10 minutes it took to put the ice maker in. That is robbery and they should be ashamed. In comparison, I needed a part replaced on my furnace the week before. Called the HVAC company. They took the labor fee out of the trip charge. That's how you do business. Westside Appliance is a long way from being a good business. Unfortunately, in Des Moines, there are not a lot of options for these types of repairs. Needed our Samsung dryer repaired. Advised them exactly what was happening and provided a model number. Didn't bring the necessary parts to repair it. Charged me $110 to tell me what we already knew and then said he could come back with the $75 in parts but it would be over $400 to fix. Or I could get the parts and do it myself. Thanks a ton for the helpful advice. Next time I'll just donate $100 to the YouTube channel that will help me do it myself. read more

I have never experienced such horrible customer service in my life. I have a brand new home and realized my dishwasher was not working properly. I got ahold of my warranty providers who sent this company over to fix the problem. I addressed a few issues, one being my dishwasher wasn't heating up and my rinse aid was not releasing. They sent someone to look at my dishwasher and the guy addressed both issues. He fixed the heating element and switched something that he thought would help with the rinse aid releasing. He informed me that I would need to give it a month or two before we could see if that that fixed the rinse aid problem and to call back if it didn't fix it so he could come back out and look at it again. I called back a few months later when it was obvious the rinse aid still wasn't releasing and they told me since I was out of warranty I would have to pay for them to come out and also for the repairs.. I said that doesn't make sense since the issue should have been addressed the first time and if I'm being instructed to wait and call back that should be cover by the initial call. I then was told unless I pay the unbelievable amount of money to has someone come back out they couldn't help me. I then asked to have the guy who came out call me so I could understand the situation better and why they can't help fix this problem and I never got a call back. I then called again and asked to speak with a supervisor and they gave me a complete go around and finally told me they would call me back once they spoke with the manufacturer..it's been a month and I still haven't heard back. I will never recommend this company to anyone after all they put me through. read more

Westside came out to fix our ice maker and to repair our fridge as it was not staying cold. The repairman said it was the seal on the freezer causing the temperature to go up. Really? That makes no sense as the fridge and freezer are separate. Needless to say, all the food in the fridge went bad and we had to make an emergency purchase of a new fridge. When I reached out to Westside, I got no response. Funny, they were quick to set up a service appointment but will not respond to a bad review. i had westside come out for a Samsung HE dryer that wouldnt stay running. Diagnosed as a plugged vent on the roof. Wanted 160 to clean it. i cleaned it (small lint had stuck in there) and dryer now runs and heats. Now it wont shut off. tech came back out and replaced the thermositer. So far 107 for trip charge and 115 for part and install, He left, still didnt work. had to call him back out. waited another 3 days. Showed up said it possibly could not be that the part failed again and has to be a control board. Dryer is 5 years old and he claims cant get part any longer (WHAT!!!). Refused to tear into it and check the part he replaced. Was here for 5 mins or less, said he would refunfd the part and labor of 115. Been 2 weeks. still no refund. Called in to find out about it, was bounced around on hold and manager I talked to was not concerned that it wasnt resolved. Gave them a chance to come back out and resolve, but they arent interested. He said he would make sure check was mailed. I have my doubts. If check isnt here in 2 days will file a complaint with the AG's office and BBB . Do not do business with them. It is a scam. They charge and charge and then dont follow thru or fix their screw ups. read more

Brought in my broken dryer belt and they were able to find me a new one without the dryer model number just by looking at a number on the back. Found it online about $7 cheaper before coming in but I usually opt to buy local and give back to my own community. Friendly staff. It was Halloween when I stopped in and the place was festive with decorations, even the staff had fun attire. I have never written a negative review before; but the horrible "service" and dishonesty of Westside parts compels me to do so. I would never recommend this company to anyone after the way I was treated by one of their technician's and especially after the manager's lack of concern when I had filed a complaint regarding the technicians unprofessional manner. The technician who came out twice to fix the same problem was not only incompetent but also rude, abrasive, and seemed annoyed by the simplest questions. Levi was the specific technician that came out during the service visit to have my new Whirpool washing machine repaired. He didn't listen to me when I spoke. He had extremely poor customer service skills, a rude demeanor and what we thought was most odd was that he didn't even know how the unit should function. Come on now... a repair man who doesn't even know how a washing machine rinses when its functioning properly. Whats really troubling is that when I spoke with his supervisor Tim regarding the matter, he didn't take the complaint seriously. Throughout me addressing the issue he made multiple excuses for his employee's unprofessional behavior, one after another, " he was probably frustrated", "you two didn't connect", " he's young", "seems you two didn't agree", "he's had some compliments", ect. WHAT!?!?!? Not only was the technician Levi rude and dismissive, he also falsely noted the problem on the receipt claiming my washing machine had been working the way it should. WOW! He is dishonest as well. This company hires incompetent rude people even from the management level. The rude, condescending, and incompetent technician Levi had no idea what he was doing and I am disgusted with the entire service. Dealing with this irresponsible company has been the worst customer experience I have ever endured. Zero manner or work ethic. Again I would not recommend this company to anyone! WORST service ever. Guys, I had a dead squirrel in my dryer (maybe two... at this point it's inconclusive) and Westside was SO helpful! Not only did a service person speak to me on the phone to give me his opinion on whether or not I should get it serviced/cleaned out or just torch the sucker and start over with a new dryer, they put me on their cancellation list (because they were booked out for several days) and got to me within two days of making the appointment. Not to mention, two VERY nice guys came to my house and took care of a horrifying, smelly mess in my dryer and were so kind and professional about it. I so appreciate their help and recommend them to anyone who has a dead rodent in their appliances--or hopefully a more normal appliance-repair need. read more

We have an Electrolux dryer which when it needs repair gives you the code and you call the Electrolux service and the tell you what is wrong with your machine. They gave me westside appliance as a repair company that services that brand. I called and gave them the information so they could order the part. We were still charged the $125 diagnosis fee even though they didn't diagnose the repair. To make matters worse after the repair our dryer makes noises it never made before they fixed it. Had them come back a 2nd time to fix the noise and they said a screw was missing. It still makes noises that were not there before they worked on the machine. For $450 you'd expect it to be done right. read more

The service was ok except for the fact I found out the service person did not have a mask and was coughing and hacking all over the place. The sensor on line was priced half of what the package said which was $167 yet when they charged me it was over $200. Have yet to get a receipt through email that was promised day of service. This information was from Rosemary who returned the first call on Tuesday when service was initially done the previous Thursday. And then waited another day for her to "research". Was also told the $109 service call would be put toward repair cost if they did the work. That did not happen. So at the end of the day my bill was over $470. She did reimburse the $52 dollar overcharge for the part which I would not have know the price of but the service person left the package with the price on it. I would never recommend them and hope the gouging was good for them. It will never happen again. read more

On my original call many questions were asked to determine how to help us trouble shoot our dryer issues so that they sent out a vent cleaner vs a repair person.
