This location was very organized & stocked! There was a wide selection of merch/apparel. I just wish they had a larger selection of women's Levi's. You can catch good deals & earn Kohl's cash. First time visiting the store on Bull Hill Ln, Orange. The parking lot was almost deserted and it's plainly obvious why. I had a pickup order, and after retrieving it, I realized one item was missing. From the outset the tone, language, and bearing of the Customer Service staff was defensive, condescending and that of "not my problem". Michelle, working alone at the Customer Service desk, cut me off, and spoke down to me as though to someone feeble minded, and confused. When I was finally able to show her that one item had not made it into my pick up order, she huffed and called for a manager. I daresay this problem was not within her purview, or she simply couldn't have been bothered. She made no attempt whatsoever to resolve the issue. I waited for a few minutes and finally heard feet slopping and shuffling only to look back and be met with someone who did not greet me, nor did she identify herself. Instead I was asked "What's the problem?" Again, I was made to feel that this was an imposition, she was not here to help at all, but to dispatch me as quickly as possible. I had to explain 3 times that one item in my order was missing. I SHOWED her the confirmation email and was explicit in stating that the order contained items that were to be shipped AND items that were to be picked up in-store. This was not a complicated or difficult problem, however, when she said "oh it's being shipped", after I showed her, and told her for the 4th time which items were being shipped and which were for pickup, I knew I might as well have been trying to explain string theory to a possum. She got a little handheld gadget that she used to look up the order number, that she asked me to tell her, despite the order being clearly displayed on the outside of the pickup bag in question, AND on the email I had in my hand. She only saw one item on this screen of hers, and said "Well, I only got this one, soooo..." So I AGAIN said that I was charged for, and have it confirmed that this item is ready for pickup but I didn't receive it, only to be told "I don't care what you have, I see what it is in here". This is not customer-centric behavior, nor is it the behavior of a "manager". After stating for the umpteenth time that I was charged for but did not receive this item, she rolled her eyes, slammed the device on the counter, turned her back on me and said to her colleague, Michelle, who had 4 customers in her own line by this time "Just give her a refund", and off she shuffled. Again. Not exactly the way to treat a customer who has now spent a half hour trying to get across the simplest question and needs a resolution. After waiting TEN MORE minutes, she came flopping around the corner and asked me if I knew how I paid for the order. What on EARTH sort of question is that?? Of course I know! She then proceeded to tell me she couldn't find the SKU# of my item, so I had to call "kohls.com". This was just about the last thing I needed to hear. The easiest way to reach a resolution would have been to apologize for the mix-up, issue a store credit and I could've been on my way within minutes. Clearly, the culture in this store is one in which no accountability is ever taken, customer service staff cannot think outside the tiny confines of the same tasks they perform the same way everyday and none of them have superior skills in problem resolution at all. The "manager" initially refused to give me her name, (later she mumbled that it was Terry). I have been a customer of Kohls for more than 30 years, and routinely pop into stores that I don't usually frequent. ALL have been wonderful, in merchandizing options, cleanliness, and customer service. However, employees at this location appear to be waiting out the clock and care very little about the overall impression they give. Retraining extensively would be in order. read more

Well, it appears that one more store with at least some consistency will be no longer a viable shopping option. Rumor has it JCPenney has acquired Kohl's department stores according to a New York Post report. The rumor appears to be coming true. The Orange Kohl's store was in complete disarray and many of the shelves and displays were empty. One thing that can be said about the retail establishments in the Orange area is that the only constant is change. It is most unfortunate for the employees as they truly took pride in keeping the shelves stocked, the displays attractive, and the overall tone of the store was friendly and welcoming. read more

When redeeming Kohl's cash, the customer can, in fact, stack up to six (6) Kohl's cash $5 promotional coupons, for a total of $30. The policy states clearly and unambiguously of its conditions described therein. Then why do some cashiers take it upon themselves to arbitrarily and seemingly randomly apply ambiguous conditions to the clear and unambiguous conditions set therein of the store's policy? This is unnecessary and a rather frustrating point of contention for me. I'm happy to be corrected when I'm wrong about something but to be "corrected" when I'm in the right is not helpful and is not good for customer relations. Not only is it wrong but it makes the customer feel like there's potentially a bias or that he or she is being singled out and being treated unfairly with prejudice. It would benefit all staff members of Kohl's to be on the same page in knowing what the conditions of the store's policies are and are not. If a weekly staff meeting is what's needed, then so be it. UPDATE: I spoke with the store's manager this evening, Amanda and I articulated my frustration and displeasure with having to school her employees about the store's policy but she wasn't hearing any of what I was saying, only blaming me, the customer for being rude to her employees. Some people are incapable of thinking rationally and it was abundantly clear that Amanda was not interested in learning about the customer's point of view. I have to say the main reason I go in here at all is the Amazon return service, but it's ok. My main complaint about this location is the parking lot, which is often pitch black after dark, even though there are lighting units there. It's creepy and potentially hazardous for customers. I was at kohl's yesterday it's a nice clean well lit store. I live in Fairfield and go out of my way to go to this location. I had a problem with my card and the manager came right over to the register and fixed it and gave me a discount for having to wait. Very friendly cashier also. read more

Kohls policy states worry free! Well I believe this to be true except the store in orange Ct. The store manager (DAN) makes it a point to interrogate people regarding returns, even has the audacity to accuse the customer in front of others that the items were used mind you I had the receipt and it was purchased the day before. How awful! No other store had done that! I have to say i've been a Kohl's customer for years and I will never shop there again. He is a jerk so people if you have any problems returning or he gives you the same treatment please call him out and call the home office! They need to be aware of this. read more

Just left Kohls after a TERRIBLE experience. I had found my Kohls Cash that expired May 10th, I then called the store where they said it was fine to use. When I walked into Kohls, I went straight to the cashier to confirm that I am able to use the expired Cash before I shop. She assured me that it would be fine, and after June 1st Kohls would no longer accept it. So I went on shopping, found two shirts and went to the register where the assistant manager Dave said Kohls doesnt accept expired Kohls Cash. I then explained that TWO employees assured me that Kohls would accept it ( otherwise I would have thrown it out, and not tried to redeem something expired) Dave then spends the next 15 or so minutes trying to find out who told me that it was okay. He then throws out a random percentage of what he will accept from the Kohls Cash in which I objected to because, besides making no sense, TWO employees had told me otherwise. Again, I would not have brought expired Kohls Cash if they said they would not accept it! Once we finally found who told me it was okay( which by the way making a customer out like they are lying- great customer service skills! :-/) he said he would acknowledge it (oh look i was telling the truth!). My total came out to 28.91 but because my Kohls Cash was for $30 I was then charged extra and ended up paying $1.79 for NO REASON. Dave then laughs and says this is Kohls, you are already getting such a deal. I admit I was a little dramatic when I said I would never come back but his response "Okay that is fine". Maybe its just me, but to see such an ignorant and arrogant unprofessional assistant manager at such a big "worry free" company like Kohls is sad! And what also annoyed me, is that when I stated the importance of customer service he could care less. I used to spend hundreds if not thousands at Kohls, never again. Absolutely appalled. read more

Let start by saying if I could give a half of a star I would. The customer service simply does not exist. I picked up 2 shirts from a rack that had the same shirt in many sizes, the price said 8.99. When we went up to the register they were scanning for 18.99. The cashier walked with me to see the rack that clearly said 8.99 on it. She asked her manager to honor the price because it was the only price on the rack and the manager refused, arguing and walking away saying that there was another sign it just wasn't working. Leaving the cashier to deal with the issue. I'm sorry but since when is management supposed to argue with a customer? As a manager, it is her job to Handle l the issue, not run to the back and hide while the cashier had to deal with it. It was her wrong for not having the clothes on the correct wrack, or to ensure the sign worked and prices were accurate. I won't be back. read more

I shop here infrequently because I have no patience; the clothing selection always looks like a tornado has gone through there, and while I expect to see disarray in stores during the Christmas rush, this one is constantly a mess and requires lots of digging time; somehow even their racks are always messy! Its close by, so if I need to grab something quick I tell myself to just run to Kohl's, but I think I'm just fooling myself; the extra few minutes in the car would take less time than digging around in the mess that is Kohl's! read more

I like this place. Unlike everyone else's experiences I've returned things no questions asked. I have used 2 days expired kohls cash and they have very kindly taken them. I agree with a little of the disarray but that doesn't bother me. I just wished they had larger quantities on the shoes, they always seem to run out of my size. I honestly love kohls and there reward system. No other store has as many rewards as kohls and I love it! read more

The cashiers must have turtle DNA....even a giant Galapagos turtle moves faster. Their sales can be decent, but when it comes to clothes their electronic signs are often out of sync with the cash register. In the end we have just left the clothes at the cashier because its not worth the aggravation if they can't figure out the price. Too often home goods stuff is not marked, or mismarked, or very ambiguous. I would rather go to Target or Walmart. read more
