My toddler attended the 2.5-year-old (youngest) class for about seven sessions. By the fourth class, she was already telling me she was bored and wanted to go home. Each session begins with a short two-minute warm-up song--usually "Freeze Dance" from YouTube--after which the class shifts to free play with parent supervision. The setup includes a platform to jump into a foam pit, a long trampoline, large foam blocks to climb and slide on, and occasionally a child-height balance beam or bar. There's also plenty of open mat space for rolling, running, and general movement. The coach mostly walks around saying hello to parents, but unfortunately doesn't interact much with the kids. I understand that it's a tough age--two-year-olds don't follow directions well--so I get that the class leans heavily on open play. Still, it feels like something's missing. The right coach with the right energy can really engage kids at this age, but I felt like I had to be that energy just to keep my daughter even slightly interested. This is a good short-term class--maybe for a month--if you just need something for your kiddo to do. But in my experience, most kids in our class started losing interest by the 20-minute mark. I've heard the 3-year-old class is more structured, so I may give that a try instead. They do offer one free trial class, so definitely take advantage of that! read more

My daughter started at Kokokahi 8 months ago and she loves it. Her coaches are wonderful, enthusiastic, fun, and caring. My daughter loves it so much that she asks to go even when she doesn't have class that day. After 2.5 months we signed her up for additional classes. Management and staff are not responsive to parents concerns or suggestions, this is very negative. They are training children and when a parent has questions or suggestions, please do not give a fake smile and start talking in explanations and excuses. Who do you think you are! These are our children, they are not to used for your money making scheme. How many children have you trained that have gone on to recognition for their skills due to your Kokokahi training program. What are the credentials of your trainers? What is the experience of your trainers? What is the background of your trainers? Parents ask questions, do your due diligence, make good choices based on facts, not the Kokokahi gaslighting! Finally, try dropping off your child when an instructor is parked waiting for a parking stall blocking the only lane to drop off. The cars back up to Kam Hwy and when asked to move up due to the traffic jam they are causing, the instructor just smiles and laughs! That is not funny! read more

In September 2020, I became the new Optional Team Head Coach at Kokokahi, and could not be more thrilled! I moved all the way from Austin, Texas to take this position in Kaneohe, Hawaii, for a couple reasons: 1. The staff at Kokokahi is wonderful. Even during my first visit to the gym, every coach and employee made me feel welcomed and appreciated, and went out of their way to make sure I was comfortable. The staff has an incredible dynamic that is fun, respectful, communicative, and positive. It makes for a stellar work environment. 2. The families and gymnasts at Kokokahi are something special. The parents are just as kind and generous, and go out of their way to help the gym and each team in any and every way possible. Koko is truly lucky to be supported by such incredible people. I am so excited to join the Koko Ohana, and have so much passion and love for gymnastics and these girls. Great venue for a kid's birthday party! My boys are two and a half years old and at first they were scared and didn't want to do anything at all, but eventually they warmed up to the place (and the kids!) and it was hard to get them to leave at the end of the day. This facility is primarily for gymnastics lessons and team practice, but they also open it up to birthday parties on sundays only from 11-1 and 2-4. You provide the the birthday child, guests, food, beverages, and cake. They take care of the rest! COST: $100 plus $50 per instructor (number of instructors required depends on number of participating children - the party we went to had two instructors) LOCATION: Kaneohe- enter through small driveway between Megumi Restaurant (near King Windward Nissan) and a used car dealership on Kamehameha Highway. Proceed to the end of the road and it's on the right hand side FACILITY: open-air (NO A/C), Full-size spring floor, 2 foam-filled training pits, trampoline, bars, balance beams, obstacle course, bars PARKING: since most of the surrounding businesses are closed on Sundays, I believe you can pretty much park anywhere but do not block any entrances FOOD & BEVERAGE: you have to supply your own, so bring coolers/ice for your bottled drinks (don't forget juice for the kids!). For food, my friend provided Costco pizza, chips/dip, homemade salad, and homemade cupcakes for the partygoers - very economical and easy. The birthday package includes instruction time, however at the party we went to, they didn't have much luck with that since the kids just wanted to play, so after briefing us on the rules, we had free play. After about an hour, it was time for lunch, and then more free play until time was up. The area for eating inside is quite small, so I recommend bringing one of those portable pop up tents for the folks who have to sit in the outside area. Bring lots of hand sanitizer and wipes (thanks for this tip Lori I.)! I hope someone we know throws another party here soon - the boys had a blast and passed out for a good two hours as soon as we got home! read more

My 3 year old daughter attended gymnastics for four months. The adult coaches during the week were awesome, she learned a lot and she enjoyed the class. However, the couple Saturday classes we attended (for make up classes) coached by the teenage instructors weren't very helpful or productive. They just stood around for the most part. I pretty much paid for me to spot my daughter doing exercises that I have no experience in. Two stars for the two coaches we enjoyed. Other than that, the manager or anyone in the office really, are so hard to get a hold of! I've been receiving billing statements in my email. I told them we won't be attending after June and it's almost September and they're still billing me, even though we haven't attended a class since June. I've left voicemails and sent emails, still no reply. I took my credit card off of their website because they overcharged me while we were attending classes in April, so I would just pay manually after that. I need to go pay a visit there to clear it up, which I shouldn't have to. I haven't been yet because I haven't been available during their weird hours. read more

The ability to find this location seems to be a "Shhhhhh! Don't tell anyone else!" The first time I went here - took me about 45 minutes to locate this place going down all the side streets. I will warn you - it is not CLEAR AT ALL, even on their website. You have to go down a street between two run down parking lots. Now to be clear Google Maps has a MUCH better way of showing them on their directions versus their website. Parking is extremely limited - be aware of that. And there are no signs on the OUTSIDE of their area - until they are open. Now if I'm wrong please correct me, with proper evidence. Thanks! :) It is best to register and take care of all business online PRIOR to coming here as the instructor wants to be on time for the class (understandable), and will postpone any business until after class AND as it seems most transactions are through their website. I have yet to see an office person on hand to deal with any/all questions. Questions seem best answered by e-mail, unless you have a specific number to contact. Then things are made 100% clear. Parking - uhhhh - good luck. *laughing* if you are looking at a large class - prepare to be walking - or do the drive by drop off then hike. Yes, really folks that's how it is. Pricing wise - I'm new to the gymnastics scene - so I have yet to make up my mind on it. I know from what I have seen - the teacher gives 100% focus to the kids. And she will make the older kids show the routines to the younger ones so they know what steps are to be done - I get it - as it reinforces the learning curve and discipline needed for this particular type of sport. Moms/Dads who stay to watch - or just want to knock out their own business stuff on the side: a) the place has a secure wifi b) there is no A/C for you - you get fans in the bleachers on the second floor. That's it. You want more = go to your car, or elsewhere. If your kids don't have the air flow - why should you? ;) Now granted there are several ceiling fans and floor fans running - so please don't bite their necks off! I literally have to hide now - so they don't see me and complain. *UGH* And not have to frolic with them doing backward flips and forward flips on the uneven bars. Part of my inner youth screams - YES! Let's DO IT!!!! The other part screams - OMG what body part are we going to the ER for this time? HA HA HA HA HA! (I AM tempted to use their trampoline runway in the upstairs into the flowing block pit----- notice AM - not WILL ----- just AM :( ---- My inner child is screaming - goooooooo! and I have to fight the urge to go - bounce bounce bounce because that's we tiggers do is bounce bounce bounce.) Now yes laugh at me go ahead - tease and mock me - but guess what we tiggers do best? is BOUNCE! I've been to a handful of gyms through the years and this gym has a pretty amazing bunch of coaches, leaders and management. They've had their struggles in some past years but I can tell you, it's better than ever right now with a bright future ahead. My daughter loves it there. Highly recommended!! read more

My daughter and son loves going to gymnastics here. The coaches are professional and patient with my child. All COVID precautions are taken and I feel safe as a parent bringing my child here. All kids wear their masks, water bottles are sanitized, temperatures are checked, and they wash their hands before and after every practice. It's great to have them burn their energy and have fun the whole time. Definitely recommend! read more

My daughter (4 years old) has been attending gymnastics here for about 4 months now. The coaches are super friendly and make her feel comfortable. The coaches on the weekend seem to be teenage instructors so I am not sure if its any different on the weekdays. She definitely enjoys class and looks forward to going every weekend. Parking on the weekends suck. It is always super crowded and extremely hot. There is also no air condition. Doesnt make it any better when parents sit in their cars with the hot exhaust blowing right at you. Neighboring shops often give you a look like they dont want you parking near their shops even if the space is available. Rugs could use a little cleaning in my opinion. Its been a little frustrating because although were paying for class its been open house (free play) and bring a friend day for the past two sessions so I feel like my daughter hasnt been taught anything even though were paying for classes. read more

Nicely set up event with easy admission and friendly staff. The gymnasts performed wonderfully and scores were projected on the wall. The only issue I had was with the concessionaires walking through the bleachers selling food and stopping and standing in front of me while trying to watch my daughter...then not moving. A little situational awareness and courtesy goes a long way. read more

This place is not pimp. It is a no frill gymnastics place that smells like toes. There is no air condition and it's kind of hard to find. What Kokokahi Gymnastics provides is a service that tires kids out! I am not sure about how the classes work because I visited for a birthday. I must admit ALL the children (and some adults) had a blast. All kids were able to balance, jump, and hang to their hearts desire for 2 hours. The gym provided two helpers to assist the children as needed. There is a small table/area for parties. You provide the refreshments, they provide the FUN! read more

We highly recommend Kokokahi Gymnastics! We were trying to find something active for our daughter to do when the pandemic hit and Kokokahi Gymnastics (open-air gym, one entire side of the gym is open since the doors roll up) was one of the few places that still had lessons. It was a great time for her to start (June/July 2020) since she pretty much had a one-on-one lesson for a bit and even though she was the only beginner in her particular Sat class at the time due to the early pandemic situation the gym still continued to have her attend, which we really appreciated! Since she didn't start at a very young age, the individualized attention gave her just enough time to build her confidence before more girls started to return and classes grew to a few more girls. They have always been great about following covid protocols (giving hand sanitizer, taking temps, wiping down water bottles, having masks worn at all times) with coaches cleaning between their classes in addition to providing excellent guidance and coaching. There are a variety of coaches and I think that variety teaches my daughter how to work and interact with different teaching styles, which is a great lesson for life in general! We went from 1 to 2 to 3 classes per week since my daughter enjoys it so much and she is happy to be in the intermediate level after starting less than a year ago. We know that even if she doesn't pursue gymnastics long-term, the strength and fitness she is developing will be beneficial towards any other sport she participates in as well as for her overall health! We are grateful to have learned about Kokokahi gymnastics through one of the coaches, our daughter enjoys it so much she even asked to have a small group of girls there to celebrate her upcoming birthday, which Kokokahi has been great about setting up for us!:) read more

While my children had a blast taking classes, and the coaches seemed mostly sweet... - you could tell sometimes the coaches did not support each other - very disorganized - there was throw up on the floor for 3 weeks. I am reviewing level 1 lessons - that is what my 8-year old daughter is taking (they do not teach boys at this facility). My daughter is having a great time! The facilities are excellent! It is hard to find the first time, but it is a converted warehouse with a huge space for multiple classes at one time, and the teachers do a great job! Phone calls are slow to be returned, so sometimes it pays to just drive over in the evening (after 4 pm) and sign up if no one is returning your call. Lesson days are really flexible with Tuesdays and Thursdays the most crowded this year. I am very happy with the gymnastics lessons! read more
