What an incredible experience from start to finish! Love the decor and ambiance in this restaurant - there are little snacks and candies you can buy at the entrance. Lots of seating. The menu offers a build your own ramen, in addition to the traditional ramen offerings. We were so pleased with the freshness and flavors of all of our dishes. Things I like about Komugi: Its fast, its nearby, the staff are friendly, & its RAMEN. Things I dislike: Underwhelming flavor with some options. Was super excited to see Komugi open nearby & have an option that is closer than Otaku & others near Nashville. My first visit I got the Tonkatsu which is one of the standard common versions of Ramen & I was underwhelmed greatly by the flavor. It was super bland! Maybe some addition of chili oil or something would help but it was just not great for some reason. My wife got a chicken broth based ramen & It was also very bland with an odd flavor to the chicken chasu that would make a picky eater (my wife) not finish it. Second time I went with the cheese ramen which is creamy pork broth (same as tonkatsu) & some American cheese on the pork belly & it was much better flavor wise. It did not taste like watered down broth like my first one did. Noodles are good & chewy, Ratio of broth to noodles & toppings is balanced. Some things are being done right here & it's a welcome addition. I would just not recommend the chicken broth based ramen dishes if you are a purist or like bold flavor options. read more

Komugi Ramen is exactly what Hendersonville needed in terms of a variety of restaurants. A ramen place, although niche, may seem out of place but it's a welcome addition (just like J Street Korean BBQ). Yes we have Sapporo, Maru Iyagi, etc to get our ramen but those are sushi places. Their selection is extremely limited. Otherwise, you'd have to go all the way to Nashville just to have their ramen. I've been to Komugi three times now. Once around the time when they first opened, once after work for dinner, and then another time after my hockey game. Each time I went there was a wait, roughly about 15-20 minutes. The waitresses didn't speak very fluent English but the service has always been great. I'm a low key guy and they made sure my drink was topped up every couple minutes. The food was fantastic. I really liked the dumplings. They were steamed with with a savory meaty filling. The cilantro and green onions added a nice refreshing characteristic and the chili oil had a nice moderate salty kick to it. I opted for the Spicy Miso Ramen. It wasn't really spicy, but I can handle my spice. The miso soup base was rich, salty, and creamy. The pork belly was seared and very tender. I honestly don't care for corn in my ramen because it makes it a little sweet but all-in-all, this was a very good, hearty ramen. My all time favorite however is the Tonkotsu ramen. There's just something about a good ramen in a bone broth base. I highly recommend Komugi and can't wait to try it again. read more

We started with the karaage chicken and it was fried perfectly. Not too chewy and had a dipping sauce on the side. Ate it too quickly to snap a picture. My husband got the tonkotsu ramen and I got the spicy miso ramen. We tried both broths and my favorite was the spicy miso although I would recommend either one. Ok, I'm gonna start off by saying I ordered from Doordash. On doordash, the reviews are kind of mixed, so I've been hesitant to order. Today, I came home early from work due to another migraine, and cooking was the last thing I felt like doing, so I decided to order in. I was craving something full of flavor, filling, and needed something in my tummy so I could take my medicine. I almost ordered my go-to from Sapporo in Gallatin but decided I wanted to try something new. Sometimes, that really changes my mood when I'm not feeling good. So, loving Asian flavors like I do, I decided to give Komugi a try. I got a sampling of things, some to doctor packaged ramen I already have, and then the rest for dinner tonight and tomorrow night. Let's go on an adventure: I did a little research and started my meal off with watermelon cider. It did not disappoint. It was delicious, not overly sweet, and actually quite refreshing and complimentary to the spicy flavors. I didn't take a picture of the spicy miso soup paste or the homemade chili oil, but they ate yummy and can't wait to use them to doctor up the packaged stuff. I got the little fish cakes for the packaged ramen, too. I tried one, and they were good. I also got a side of pork belly. Sorry, I ate one before I took the picture. It was $3.00 for 2 thin slices of pork belly. But let me tell you, it's probably the best pork belly I've gotten from the area. It was so tender, not dried out at all, and the flavor was amazing. I saved the 2nd slice to put in my packaged ramen. Now, let's talk about the appetizers - chasu bun, first time ever trying one. Oh wow, it was so good. The bun is super soft and actually tastes good. It gad a slice of pork belly with a sauce, teriyaki I think with a touch of spice, and some lettuce of some kind, I didn't appreciate the stem but otherwise it's definitely something I will order again and again. Next, I decided to try the Takoyaki. This was a leap for me, I'm not a big fan of octopus, squid, but I love watching Takoyaki being made on youtube, so I had to try it. Following the rule of thumb, I taught my kids to always try it at least once. I did just that. With the exception of a couple of octopus pieces, it was so delicious. Side note: I tried the Bonito flakes by themselves. I'm not a fan, hahaha. Now for the main dish. Because the reviews on doordash are so mixed on the ramen, I decided to order the Dandan Noodle. When they say it's a dry noodle, they aren't kidding. But what matters is the taste. Before I tell you that I have to say I added half a ramen egg to my noodles because I've never had one, it was yummy. I think I'm gonna try making my own now. I also added mushrooms because why not, I love mushrooms. Now, what I wasn't a fan of were the whole peanuts, but that's only because I'm not a very big fan of nuts in general. I did remove a majority of them. There is a little hit of spice on the back end when you take a bite of this dish. But it's not that spice that sends you scrambling for something to drink, which, by the way, the Watermelon Cider actually goes well with the spicy flavors. I enjoyed the dandan noodles. Needless to say, after getting an idea of their flavorings, I will order again and try the ramen next. Lastly, let's talk about the packaging. Cutest dang delivery bag I've ever seen, and no, it's not going in the trash. I'm keeping this cutie putootie. Everything arrived packaged so neatly, and they go the extra mile by putting a sticker/receipt on each container telling you what's inside. No guessing, no going back to your order trying to decipher what's what. This is one of those super easy 5 stars, no doubt. So be adventurous, try something new, you just might be surprised how good it is. Now, if only I could figure out how to use the dang chopsticks. Lol, my brain and hands just can't get it. In case you're wondering, now way I ate everything, I've got dinner tomorrow and possibly a lunch. read more

Me and my family's first time to try this place out as soon as we entered the facility I noticed it was clean, tidy, cool and a nice place to hangout with friends and family . Kudos to our server Ms.Makita she was so friendly and nice. Given they've only been open a month I have some constructive feedback: the broth needs to be scorching hot. The issue I found was the eggs and pork were cold, the ramen was super hot and the broth was very warm. This could have been just us (4 of us) and a one time thing, but it's my first time so I have nothing else to base it off of. Basically, every ramen shop ever eaten at has to have that super hot broth to warm up those eggs and meat so you can slurp to cool like a traditional ramen, otherwise the cool items cool down the broth quickly if not hot enough. I'll be back, no doubt because the flavor is most excellent and I'm not going to knock it. It's better than *any* ramen in the area. Maru Iyagi off streets of Indian lake is good, but no where near this. Sapporo tries, but it's just basic. I have no real complaint about his place. They were short-handed so service was slow, but the girls hustled to make things as good as could be. You may really like this food, but for me, the flavors were too bland for my liking. I also didn't like using chopsticks for eating ramen. I had the wagyu beef which was ok, but the thin slices were not tender enough to break apart, so again eating them with chopsticks was not enjoyable. Most Asian foods I eat are strong in spices and flavor, so this was a disappointment. We also had 3 appetizers and they were also disappointingly bland.
