Worst "authentic" Chinese food I've ever had. None of the dishes were made the authentic way. They all tasted awful. I had such high hopes for the fried pork dish. It was supposed to be to be crispy, a little sticky, sweet and sour. What did I get? Big pieces of soupy blob that made my stomach hurt after just a couple of bites. I ordered four dishes. Didn't even bother taking picture of the 4th. It was a pan fried noodle dish. I suspect the chef in the back are not really chefs and also have never had authentic Chinese food let along cooking them. If I am a lawyer and have the time, I'd sue the place for false advertisement and emotional damage. read more

The chef here used to work at a place in Bear that my parents LOVED. However, it came under new management and they turned more into an American Chinese style take out place. Fortunately my mother somehow found out that the chef now works here! This is an excellent choice for authentic Chinese food. Your typical Kung Pao and general tso's fare are also available but truly there are much better options. My parents always get the clams and the salt and pepper ribs. With my sister and I there, I decided to also get the pork and eggplant-- which was another hit, so there would be enough food for everyone! The food was delicious and I imagine my parents will continue going there and insist on eating there when one of us visits. Avoid, better places in the city. Location is half a mile from us and we wanted to try it, was not successful due to how poorly run this restaurant is. They gave our order to another 3rd party delivery driver. They initially told our delivery person that they would remake the order. Then they told them that they, the driver, needed to contact doordash to get the other driver to return the order before they would remake it. The restaurant then called me to tell me to cancel the order and reorder it instead of just remaking the order. It was over an hour and half after we ordered and more than 45 minutes from the estimated delivery time. This behavior is unacceptable. Again avoid this restaurant. read more

The place is not clean. Service is so poor that I could not even leave a tip. Dumplings came out ice cold, I sent them back the the dumplings came back and right after came the soup and the meal. All was cold by the time I could eat it. No follow up service, no water or tea refills, needed to get up and ask. And the bathroom was disgusting. Do not go here. I had King Pao Palace delivered and I wanted to like it; I wanted to try a different Asian restaurant in the area, only to feel I have wasted my money. I ordered General Tsos Chicken, fried potstickers, and Shrimp Lo Mein. Between the General Tsos Chicken and the Potstickers, I was convinced I was going to be sick: the food tasted fine as I was eating it, but the overwhelming nausea was sudden. I didn't make it halfway through before I was ready to call it quits. The food looked and smelled delicious, which makes the experience even more unfortunate. The General Tsos Chicken had an excellent flavor to it and a spice that you usually have to request. Try this place at your own risk. Do not ever ever come here! They have a terrible atmos and food was normal but expensive. Ordering 3 dishes and drinks cost me 90. Mutton was not fresh at all. This place is relatively new in that it was under a different name before. I don't know about if the management was also changed or not, but just judging from the level of food it was such a boom. Last time I came here we ordered salt and pepper ribs but it was just deep dried ribs on lettuces, which was extremely dry and didn't go so well with rice. This time I went with roommate and ordered two classic Northeastern Chinese dishes: ribs and marinated cabbage and chicken mushroom stew (Chinese: 酸菜排骨，小鸡炖蘑菇）. We ordered those cuz I was from that region and both dishes were warm soupy dishes perfect for the cold weather. I was my first time in five years stay in US to see those two dishes on a menu and honestly my expectation wasn't high at all. Both dishes do take a long time to make and if you haven't had them before DON'T GET BOTH cuz the taste can be a bit adventurous. BUT THEY WERE SO GOOD that I actually couldn't believe it. Especially for the soup dish I think they actually use a special mushroom from my hometown and the taste was just... awesome. Portion was large but we finished cuz we eat much and it would be a shame to waste those. Extremely fulfilling. Service is okay and decoration is interesting (they put on funny wallpaper). Would recommend dining in for weekends. Just to let Yelp ppl who don't have Chinese language background know, the new Chinese name of this place indicates it specializes in boiled/stew dishes so aim for those if you feel adventurous/ want some genuine Chinese food. read more

Disappointing. We've tried five-six dishes over the last three months. The usual suspects: General Tso chicken, curry chicken, lo mein (chicken, pork), fried dumplings and eggrolls. We've had a couple of these dishes more than once. My #1 impression: extremely salty. Too salty. Way. Too. Salty. #2 is harder. The lo mein has nice chunks of meat but is lacking taste or seasoning. But the curry chicken would have been delicious if it wasn't over salted. (BTW, I love salt. We consider it one of the "major food groups" at my house. My son loves more salt than me(!) and even he thought there was way too much. This post is NOT being written by an anti-salt extremist!) The lo mein noodles were nice - firm, a good chew. And the odd veggie was crisp, the chicken chunks were good-sized and the portions were a good value. Just lacking flavor. General Tso was...different. The chicken pieces were very small, some no bigger than a pea. And crispy, like they had been deep fried too long. The sauce was unexceptional. I don't know that I'll be back. read more

Absolutely worst food I have ever had. I did not even eat a 1/4 of everything I ordered and threw the rest away. The wonton soup had no flavor whatsoever. The shrimp lo mein was mushy and just tasted off. It was over filled with onions and scallions and very little shrimp and nothing else but noodles. The crab rangoons were just as bad...no crab flavor only scallion. I was at work yesterday and really wanted Chinese food but dud not have the time to pick up. This was one of 2 places that offered delivery to my place of employment. But now after having "sampled" these three menu items I really wish I would have chosen the other establishment. And to top it all off within an hour of tasting this "food" I experienced severe gastrointestinal distress which resulted in numerous trips to the bathroom for the rest of the afternoon into the night and still a bit this morning. read more

Kung Pao Palace took over the location of the former Yi Palace. Sadly, they're not living up to their predecessors. The items we had were not well seasoned--the fried rice was extremely salty, whereas the General Tso's Tofu was bland. The tofu was also not crispy as it should have been. And the egg rolls weren't standard egg rolls--more like spring rolls--and tasted just okay. Also, Yi Palace was a local vegetarian favorite because they had excellent vegetarian chicken--one of only two Chinese restaurants in Newark that offered a meat substitute (the other, China Garden, is far inferior to Yi Palace). I was very disappointed to see that Kung Pao Palace does not offer a meat substitute. I hope this is just Kung Pao Palace figuring things out in its first few weeks of operation. If so, I look forward to changing my review. But in the meantime, I'll be pining for Yi Palace (and making more excused to visit their remaining Concord Pike location). read more

This is an authentic Chinese restaurant. It is full of Chinese students who are attending The University of Delaware. Having spent time working in China I was in the mood for some Western Chinese cuisine. This is not your average Chinese restaurant. Most of the waitresses only speak Chinese. There is help to select a meal from the helpful people who are the owners. I had sour soup which had large pieces of mushroom and the delicious tangy taste it one expects with sour soup. I also ordered Ma Pa Dofu. This is one of my favorites as it has large chunks of tofu in a spicy broth. Proper rice for that meal is just plain white rice. However I selected the stir fried rice as it is super tasty. I highly recommend this restaurant. Ask one of the English-speaking students, who work there as waitresses, to assist you in your meal selection. They will appreciate the opportunity to practice their English, and assist you in selecting an authentic enjoyable meal. read more

This restaurant was very disappointing & I was completely dissatisfied to say the least with the quality of the food! The Qmenu App was a waste because it had old menu options & wrong pricing. When I arrived for pick up the order was never prepared. I had to re order & pay $32 cash. When I ate the meals it had a tart taste & the meats in my house special lo mein was sour & spoiled. The fried rice in the shrimp & broccoli was sticky & looked like white rice drizzled with soy sauce. While waiting i noticed they prepared & served food with no gloves or masks during this Pandemic. I like it better than Yi Palace, which it replaced. The food is tasty and the menu is huge. Even though they don't have fake meat, there are plenty of vegetarian options. They also serve lots of fish, including whole fish and fish fillet. Their vegetables are fresh and crisp. Most of their meat is grilled or stir-fried, not breaded and deep fried. I only gave this place 1 star because I had to - they advertise a 10$ minimum for debit cards but when you get there it's actually 4% of your total bill in a credit card fee, so on a 30$ bill I ended up paying over a dollar, joke. Never eat here anymore. They have a terrible service. You have to serve yourself and pay by yourself. Even though they asked for 15% tips. I said I didn't be served, they said you have to pay 15% even we did nothing. This is common in USA. Even you pay less than 15%, we will charge you for 15%. read more

I had Chinese leftovers from another establishment but not quite enough for our dinner. I popped in here for a pint of fried rice. They only sell fried rice by the quart, so I got brown rice instead. When I got home I opened it and it smelled horrible. How can rice be bad from a Chinese restaurant???? So I tasted it. The taste was horrid and the texture worse. My husband who will eat anything wouldn't even taste it after smelling it. I couldn't get the taste out of my mouth. I tossed the rice and will not be going back. read more

I went to KongPao Palace Chinese Restautant tonight and ordered three dishes. One cold dish called Sliced Beef and Tripe in Chili oil. It's one of my husband's favorite. The other two are Lion Head Braised Pork Balls in Soy Sauce (Chinese Meatball) and Lamb with Cumin. All of the food was great and we really loved them. I'll definitely go back! read more
