My family and I had an outstanding dinner at Kong Pocha. We visited on a Sunday evening around 7 PM and didn't have to wait at all. We were seated immediately in a booth that comfortably fit our party of seven. The atmosphere was relaxed, quiet, and welcoming, which made it easy to enjoy dinner and conversation. The restaurant was clean, and the staff was incredibly friendly and efficient. We ordered our drinks, and they were at the table in what felt like less than 30 seconds. It honestly seemed like our server turned around after taking the order and another staff member was already coming around the corner with our drinks. I ordered the whole bone in soy garlic fried chicken, which came with a fresh salad. The chicken was everything Korean fried chicken should be. Crispy on the outside, juicy on the inside, and packed with flavor. The soy garlic glaze was absolutely incredible. It had the perfect balance of sweet and savory while still letting the crunch of the chicken come through. The rest of our table ordered two curry chicken rice bowls, a spicy chicken rice bowl, pork soft tofu soup, the Kongbination, plus edamame and fried dumplings to share. Every dish that came to the table looked photo worthy. The presentation was outstanding, and the food tasted every bit as good as it looked. One thing that really stood out was the portion sizes. Kong Pocha definitely doesn't skimp on food. Every plate and bowl was generously portioned, and almost everyone left with leftovers to enjoy the next day. The only small downside was the beer prices. Around $11 for a Sapporo and $7 for an Asahi felt a little high, but honestly, the quality of the food, the generous portions, and the overall experience more than made up for it. Parking was easy during our visit. The shopping center has a decent sized lot, although I could see it getting a little tight if all of the neighboring businesses were busy. It wasn't an issue for us. Whether you're a longtime fan of Korean food or trying it for the first time, Kong Pocha is a great choice. It's perfect for families, groups, date nights, or anyone looking for authentic Korean food with generous portions and excellent service. To start we had the fried shumai, which was just okay. Our tofu came out shortly after. Both the seafood and pork were quite good. Generous amounts of tofu and each had a slightly kick with the cooked jalapenos. They both had a good amount of seafood or pork - definitely comforting and tasty. I think this place is great vibes. It's open late, and honestly an amazing place to come for some late night drinking and snacks. The service is also awesome; the servers are super nice and attentive; they refilled the banchan as soon as they saw that we were finished. The banchan was probably my favorite part; the soft tofu was a nice balance of sweet and spicy. The picked radish and the kimchi were also fresh, crispy, and yummy. We got the bulgogi, sweet and spicy chicken, and the kongbination. I think of the entrees, the bulgogi was my favorite. The ratio of meat to veggies was good; the meat was tender and had that classic sweet bulgogi flavor. The sweet and spicy chicken was interesting. We didn't know it was going to come with salad and fires (this could be a pro or con depending on who you are). The chicken itself was cooked pretty good; it was tender on the inside and crispy on the outside. The sauce on top is Mae Ploy sweet and spicy sauce (the stuff you dip your spring rolls in at Thai restaurants). I think this really threw me off. it wasn't bad, but I think I was expecting some kind of gochujang/ gochugaru based sweet and spicy sauce. Again, the Mae Ploy sauce did throw we off a lot. The Kongbination was okay; it was the bulgogi, the sweet and spicy chicken, and spicy pork. Two of the three things we already ordered on its own (this was our fault) so the pork was the only new thing. Overall, nothing really wowed me. That being said, I will definitely be coming here again. The vibes are great. I definitely want to come back and try different things on their menu. I've only gotten to eat here once and the food is little pricier than typical Korean pub IMO, the portion and quality of food you get is worth it. The staff are super friendly,and the place is hip and cozy. We tried Rose ddukbokgi which was flavorful but not spicy. I wish they have regular ddukbokgi though. As longtime regulars at Kong Pocha's original spot in Baltimore's small single street Koreatown, we were ecstatic when they opened a second location in Columbia. While this new spot is smaller, a dozen or so four-top tables, it still maintains the Kong Pocha vibe from the original. The Columbia location skips the Korean BBQ grills, but they've kept most of the other menu with some new items. We ordered our usual favorites, the traditional Korean fried chicken, regular tteokbokki, mandu fried dumplings and the corn cheese. We also tried their new seafood cream udon dish which was creamy, peppery and full of seafood. Everything came out fast, piping hot, and in generous portions. Service was excellent like Kong is known for, attentive and super friendly. This is the kind of place you come to with a few friends, order a table full of dishes to share, and take shots of soju with a Terra beer chaser. Their corn cheese is very flavorful and the rose tteokbokkk is cooked well (chewy rice cake and flavorful sauce) although not completely traditional in flavor, it's very spicy! The whole fried chicken is pricy but big portion. The recommend sauce on the side (got sweet and soy) but that meant the chicken was pretty bland without dipping it. This place was fantastic. Came here with some friends so we could try multiple dishes. Loved the Mala Seafood Cream Udon and Corn Pancake. The Cream Udon has a deep umami flavor and the noodles had the right texture. They loaded the dish with a lot of seafood too. The Corn Pancake might not look like much, but it was sweet, tasty with both a crunchy and chewy texture. We tried the Tofu Kimchi, a dish with big cuts of steamed tofu and a kimchi pork stir fry. The stir fry was good, but the aforementioned dishes blew us out of the park, that this one took the backseat. Lastly, we tried the Clam Soup. It would have been very refreshing after all the heavy food, but the jalapenos that they used were SUPER spicy. We ended up adding more water to our bowls just to be able to tolerate it. Otherwise, great flavor. The spot is located in a small shopping strip with limited parking, especially on a busy night. The entrance is funny because they put some sort of decal on the door to make it look like the doors in a historical drama. Inside is a bit dim - think pub lighting. The walls are plastered with fun posters and random korean pop art. There are a few tables, but it can get full quickly. We got there at 5 and seated right away, but then they started a waitlist. Reservations are not available at this time. Service was great. Although they only had 2 people taking orders and running food, 1 person in the kitchen, they were pretty efficient and all with a welcoming attitude. I've been wanting to try this place out for a while so decided to stop by with my daughter who's really into tteokbokki these days. We stopped by for early dinner and were seated right away. When you walk in, it's a bit dark and has restaurant bar feel. We ordered the rose tteokbokki and boneless butter chicken. The food came out at a reasonable time and the presentation was great. However, I can't say we loved the food. It was decent but my daughter didn't like the tteokbokki because it tasted too cheesy and not the typical tteokbokki she's used to. And the butter chicken really wasn't our thing with the sweet flavor and the breading was too thick and hard at times. But the service was excellent with them checking on us frequently to make sure we were ok. Also, I thought it was a bit pricey for what we got - $18 for tteokbokki and $27 for boneless butter chicken. I'll probably give this place another try and order something different but was sad that my daughter's first restaurant tteokbokki experience was a disappointment for her. read more

We wanted to try a different Korean fried chicken place and decided to give this one a try. The restaurant was busy, and all the tables were occupied, but we were seated fairly quickly. No menu was provided--ordering was only through a QR code on the phone, which wasn't a big deal. A couple of dishes arrived quickly and were decent. However, the two fried chicken dishes were taking a long time, so we followed up. The staff said the kitchen was experiencing a delay. We understood that things like that can happen, so we waited patiently. About an hour later, one of the fried chicken dishes finally came out. The chicken was cold, and the fries were soggy and undercooked. We politely complained, but the server brushed it off. We canceled the remaining dish, and the server said he would check on it, but he never got back to us. I politely complained again about the food, and he simply said the fries were thick-cut. He did not offer to remake the dish or remove it from the bill. On top of that, a 20% tip was added automatically. I would not recommend this place. The food not that good, and the service was substandard. And worst part is they do not own up to their mistakes. read more
