This is a really nostalgic spot for me, and I've been getting the Katsu and Udon Combo since I was a kid. It's always the same lady at the stand and service is relatively quick. Food was decent for the price. Everything you would expect from a Lotte food court Japanese stall. The katsu was crispy and not too dry. The curry had a little to much veggies in it for my taste, but could just be her take on the curry. Udon was standard with it being a little better then the frozen ones you get at home. But for the price this is a good deal. I will come back if I am in the area. Lady working the counter was kurt and efficient. It was good! Good in a home cooked meal kind of way! To me, this isn't worth 15$. The pork was flavorless and overcooked. But the rice and curry were a 6/10 and the pasta salad was probably my favorite part of the meal. The women working were nice. The cafeteria serves as a place to eat but is quite desolate. We have been eyeing this place for a long time since it is inside a Lotte supermarket. This is a food stall that is located inside the food court of Lotte. The meal we had were pretty enjoyable. Surprisingly, the complimentary crab salad is good and flavorful. The pork katsu we got were definitely on the saucier side and very flavorful. The beef bowl was yummy as well although it visually looked dry, it actually wasn't. The udon was okay, there wasn't anything mention worthy. It was typical udon with minimal toppings, but the broth was still flavorful. Since this is in a good court, it is self serve. They just give you your tray of food and you find seating within the food court. There are water dispenser by each food stall there in which you can get hot/cold water from. You just have to return the tray to the stalls that you ordered from though. read more

I would say this is the best restaurant out of those in the Lotte food court. I have tried dishes at the other ones and have been disappointed, but I have always left feeling satisfied after ordering from Ikkyu. I think my favorites here are the #13 (tonkatsu) and #4 (udon noodles in a hot stone pot). The udon noodles come with an egg, tofu, shrimp tempura, fish cake and assortment of veggies. It's definitely a lot of food. The only reason why I give it 4 stars instead of 5, is the side dishes that come with the tonkatsu are very inconsistent. Sometimes the kimchi tastes gross, whereas other times it's on point. Same with the miso soup; sometimes it literally tastes like warm water. The portions are very generous unlike many Japanese restaurants. I have definitely had better Katsu and Udon at other restaurants but don't get me wrong, this was satisfying by all means. It also comes with a small side of rice and salad. They will also give you complementary kimchi upon request. I've been going here since I was a child and their food is great. There are four different food places that you can choose from in the Lotte Plaza and Ikkyu's Tonkatsu is my favorite! It comes with a side of this pasta salad and it's so good. It pairs really well with the tonkatsu itself. It also comes with a side of pickled radish. Their food court has a lot of tables and seating and each food court offers water cups for their customers! They'll take your order then call it out whenever it's ready. Inside of Lotte is this hidden gem within the food court. If I am in the area I always try to make a trip to Ikkyu :) Their portions are huge, I always order the Tonkatsu & Udon combo. It comes with a full serving of tonkatsu, salad, kimchee, a bowl of rice and a full size bowl of udon noodles... at $10 it is sucha steal for how much food you get! The tonkatsu is perfectly fried with plum sauce drizzled over it. The udon noodles broth tastes like how it should and they do not skimp on the noodles. I would be here everyday... if only I lived closer :( Ikkyu's location is great, especially if you need to grab some groceries... it is all in one place. Of the four food vendors in Ellicott City's Lotte Plaza, Ikkyu is IMO on par with Manna just a couple of stalls down. This place is run by a no-nonsense ajumma and she runs a tight ship. The mostly Japanese style food is authentic, albeit with a slight Korean flavor since you can't get tonkatsu in Japan served with kimchi. Highly recommend the combo that comes with udon and a main rice dish. read more

My favorite place to get food when I go eat at Lotte plaza. I'm one of these boring people who usually plays it safe by ordering the same items every time I go to an establishment because if it ain't broke, don't fix it? (Okay, I'll make more of an effort to try new things, Yelp. You convinced me.) My usual orders here are shrimp or chicken teriyaki. (I lean towards the shrimp because it comes with my favorite vegetable - broccoli - whereas the chicken comes with onion, and I guess I like seeing a bit of green. It makes me feel a little healthier with all that yummy sodium-loaded teriyaki sauce. ^^) I've also gotten the unadon and udon noodles. I believe I've ordered other things but those 4 are what I order most of the time. Food is always very delicious. The portions have gotten a bit smaller in the 5 years that I've been coming here; not so much that I'm really upset about it, but juuuust enough that I've noticed. You get pretty typical Korean sides (despite the fare being Japanese): kimchi or yellow pickled radishes, a little salad tossed with pasta. Omnomnom. I never have complaints about this place. My family ordered the donkatsu don, gyudon, and an udon noodle soup dish. This is a the first time in a long time that none of us enjoyed the food. The udon soup tasted worse than one of the better instant udon noodle packages in my opinion. I know japanese "don" dishes are generally a little sweet, but these were a little too sweet for my taste. The gyudon beef was very dry and tough unfortunately. The donkatsu don was not bad and basically the only dish my family liked. The pork was moist and the only complaint was the sauce was alittle sweet for my liking. Remember ya'll - this is a booth in the grocery store's food court! But this is in my Top 2 because (a) the woman who owns/runs this booth is absolutely awesome and commands her kitchen team with friendliness and happiness, and (b) excellent hot food that is super consistent at each visit. Oops, but I MAY come here about 1/week. Oops! But I adore all of the food that comes out of this kitchen. It is NOT gourmet. But you're paying $10 for a full meal out of a food court... the seasoning is always perfect, their complimentary pasta salad is one of the most delicious things I've ever had (I'm dead serious! I don't know what kind of magical mayo and dried pasta and cucumber slices they put of there, but it's perfection!), their soup is always a great balance of miso soup, and their entrees are served hot and meant for a hungry diner mid-day! Their most expensive (I think it's $12.95?) is the full bento box. This is my favorite and it really comes with a bit of everything. It is always served abundantly and it is always delicious! Don't be afraid for extra side salad or soup! They will HAPPILY deliver! It was a large plate of a nicely fried and yummy tonkatsu, with rice, pasta salad, curry, and wilted looking/dried limpy slices of Takuwan (pickeled yellow radish). It also came with a miso soup. The curry was not very good. A bit bland, lack of spice, and the veggies they put in didn't look too good (looked like a canned veggie mix of corn, peas, & carrots). Ikkyu, the first restaurant you pass when you enter the Lotte food court, appears to be the most popular place here at lunch time. They serve real Japanese food, and not that silly overpriced junk you get at Sushi King or Sushi Sono. I'm talking about the kind of food that real people eat on a regular basis. My katsu don was just right with a good coating of egg on the crispy ton katsu, and a nice drizzle of sweet sauce that wasn't too much for the amount of rice. It cam with a strange salad of greens topped with macaroni salad. The miso soup was simple but good. All of this came at the great price of about $7. They have a lot of real classics, like katsu don and katsu curry, curry rice, soba, udon, tempura, butadon, and a good number of others. There are even some neighboring Korean booths that have other modern Japanese dishes like omurice and wafu hamburger. read more

I usually get the chicken teriyaki here because it tastes good and easy on the wallet for a good amount of take-out food. I haven't tried the other items on the menu because... well, I really have no reason except that I just like chicken teriyaki over everything else. It seems like the portion have gotten a bit smaller over the last year, and they don't have kimchi as one of the sides anymore, just the yellow pickled radish. My preference is kimchi mixed with teriyaki, but perhaps they're trying to be more authentically Japanese in food. The other side is pasta salad, which is ok.
