Every time I called to ask what was going on he pretended to not speak English. I finally threatened to file a police report for auto theft, and guess what? Car repaired in three days. Very nice repair shop. Although no one is very responsive when physically in their shop, their work and pricing is amazing and honest. Parking can be weird since there isn't a designated parking spot (so you just park on the street and tell them where you parked). Nice and local repair shop. read more

It's my go to auto shop. Frank I believe his name is has always helped me out when I'm in a jam and gets the work done for a fair price. He's easy to converse with but it's get busy there but that just speaks volume to his work. They even have helped me scan my car and tried to help me get my check engine light off even thought it kept coming back on. It's close to where I reside and parking is limited in the area. You can always call to get a price quote on parts and or labor. He's fair and does good work. You can even bring your own parts in but just check with him first to make sure it's the right one and he will just charge you for labor. There's a small waiting area but I drop my car off and will come back and pick it up. I highly recommend this auto repair shop. If your close by or want to try them out you should. I feel you will be satisfied with their work for the price you pay. read more

My go to shop and my shop of choice especially if I'm looking for something with quality, quick, and local work. I've had many tire issues and engine troubles this past year and I always appreciate that I can always get my car in and out in a timely manner. They are quite popular though with limited workers so it's definitely good to head there earlier in the day. If you need a car fix and reasonable cost, this is your place! read more

Best car mechanic ever! Prices is really cheap and fair! They're also very honest and caring!

The first time Kong's got over was when I had an oil change and they dented the hood of my newly painted car but didn't say anything about it. The next problem is they broke the hood latch and left wire hanging on inside of car. I went back and Mr. Lee said he didn't do it. He lied because my ex-husband had to check something under hood AND the cable to hood latch was zip tied and not useable. Nobody else has work on my car and Kong's will not be anymore. Great auto shop! I have been coming here with my family for years since they opened. Mr. Kong and his team are very efficient and honest with the repairs needed for the car. They never charge extra and are very forefront with their prices. I had my car finished within the same day to replace a broken side mirror and they even took the courtesy to buff out minor scratches on my car. Highly recommend! read more

After being ripped off by just about every mechanic garage in South Philly (ya know, they see a new expensive car pulling in and they see gold), I was fortunate enough to stumble upon this hidden gem. Mr. Kong is the most HONEST and FANTASTIC mechanic I've ever had the pleasure of dealing with. CHEAPEST prices around too for quality work! I take my BMW's to him all the time and he is a pleasure to deal with. A very up-front, no-nonsense kinda guy. I don't have any specific details to share about Kong's Auto other than what's already been written here, but because I've also had nothing but positive experiences with Mr. Kong and his staff over the past three years or so, I simply wanted to add my voice to the chorus. This part of South Philly is surprisingly rich in auto body shops, which makes it all the more difficult to decide where to go, and to figure out who's trustworthy. And if you're not a neighborhood local and don't have any local connections to steer you in the right direction? Good luck. But like the three other reviewers here, I was lucky enough to also hear about Kong's garage via word-of-mouth, from a former co-worker. The bottom, really, is that Mr. Kong is just a truly a pleasant guy. And unlike at the big shop over on Washington Ave., his staff never makes you feel stressed or rushed. Frankly, I get the sense that Mr. Kong truly enjoys his job. I tend to see him pretty often when I walk past his garage on the way to the coffee shop down the street (Benna's), and I'd say he's got a genuine smile on his face maybe half the time. My car passed inspection again for another year good service had check engine light again cleared code with my code scanner and drove for 20 to 30 miles to set the monitors and it passed even though the check engine light will come on again. read more
