Great place when your computer stops working. I should start by saying there is a computer repair shop across the street from my office but I specifically drove to Konicom because I know from past experiences they are fast and reliable. Today's emergency brought me in when the screen to my laptop wouldn't come on with the rest of the system. As soon as I walked in they were very attentive and immediately started looking at the laptop to diagnose the situation. The first thought was that it was the motherboard and the computer might be toast. "if the problem is the charging port, the price to fix it is about $135. ($50 part and $85 labor) you can bring it in to us and we can confirm the problem for you. If it is battery issue, you can go to ebay and buy one online." This was the first message we received from Bryan after asking for a quote for a repair for charging issues for a Tablet. Which sounds promising, hence why we proceeded to arrange for a time for us to drop off the tablet and even went as far as have a remote payment method settled. Everything seemed to go well until we actually took the Tablet in. Immediately upon looking at the Tablet we were told "We don't fix tablets, only data retrieval". Given it was not Bryan who was at the counter at that time, we thought it might have been a misunderstanding. After all, why would we get quoted a price for tablet repair if they don't repair Tablets. Immediately we contacted Bryan and he called me back. This was the story that he told us. He said that "his mechanic was able to take a in depth look at the problem with the charging (I'm not sure how in depth one can be just by looking at the Tablet from the outside and plugging a charger into it) and had determined that it DEFINITELY was not a charging port issue. Upon realizing that, from their he concluded that it must be a problem with the motherboard and it would be too expensive to fix, thus he continued to encourage us to replace the tablet and offered us the data recovery option seeing no other options." Except they failed to explain to us anything about the above mentioned processes when we were there and simply said "We don't fix Tablets, only data recovery." Which sounds to me like a lie to cover up a lie. But let's just say their statement holds up, his mechanic is indeed an expert in Tablet diagnostic and was able to diagnose the issue with the charging within 2 minutes. I have since taken the tablet to another repair shop, and have gotten it back fully working. The issue was not with the motherboard. After requesting several quotes I was elated to find Konicom's prices to be both fair and on the low end for the type of problem I was experiencing. I know the true value of backing up my data on a more consistent basis but accidents do happen. I took the hard drive from my laptop in to see if they could recover the data after it failed. They said they'd check it out call in a couple of days. They didn't. I called them, and they said they were working on it and would call me in a couple more days. They didn't. More than a week later I went to the shop. They had done NOTHING since I had left it off. After wasting two weeks of my time, I took the hard drive elsewhere. There always seem to be plenty of guys hanging around. Konicom is a life saver! I had been suffering for years with another set of guys who claimed to be tech guys but really were just a bunch of lazy, ungrateful slobs. Konicom is everything that you want in a network support service. They came in and pointed out all of the problems that I had always complained of with the other slobs, but Konicom actually fixed the problems. I googled and called around a few businesses when my old flash drive became unreadable. Konicom was the only company that had a real live person pick up and assist me right away. they pitched, "no data, no charge" so i gave them a try and drove to their office in midtown. the tech there, I think his name is Roy, was friendly and helpful. he was able to connect my flash drive to the workstation and retrieve the data. he got it done within 10mins as i waited. it was fantastic! the tech even fixed my drive so that it's now readable and usable again! you don't think about the data you've stored, be it in a flash drive or hard drive, until you need it and can't retrieve it. can't thank him enough! it was an overall very positive experience. This place is amazing. Literally saved my life. My only laptop crashed all of a sudden. I wasn't able to access all the data that I saved from the hard drive because it kept showing a black screen when turning it on.
