My journey to meet Dr Thakkar was quick. I needed to find the best ENT and oncology surgeon. I had a mass tumor that I neglected during COVID. By the time, I saw my PCP, the mass grew and it was starting to protrude from my face. Dr Thakkar was highly recommended to me by my PCP, and after sharing my health problem at hand... my friends also had great words of Dr Thakkar as a surgeon. I did some research on my own and learned Dr Thakkar was really smart and great reviews. Plus I knew he was skilled from hearing successful surgical stories from my PCP, my dentist and friends. I knew I was in good hands. On my first consult, Dr Thakkar was very informative, ensuring I understood why the mass should be removed, understood the mass would go to pathology for reading (benign or not), risks involved... such as facial paralysis because there are main nerves surrounding the area of the surgery, length of surgery time and what to expect. Especially if facial paralysis. Dr Thakkar recommended my surgery be at one of the best hospitals because there was a nerve monitor machine to avoid facial paralysis at best. During the next 3.5 weeks, Dr Thakkar sent me back to my PCP for tests to ensure health and safety going forward with the surgery, blood tests, EKG, CT SCAN, etc... On the day of surgery, Dr Thakkar met me early on. He went through all the risks again. I was quietly scared, but I also knew he would perform this surgery at his best! The outcome was beautiful!! No facial paralysis. My stitches are healing perfectly. Plus, Dr Thakkar was able to perform the surgery so the wounds are not too visible. After my surgery, Dr Curtis Walsh removed my drain and answered a few questions I had. He was also a great surgeon. On my post-surgery follow up appointment, Dr Thakkar removed my stitches. I had more questions. He's the kind of surgeon that replied: Please, ask. This is what this appointment is for. He sat down and gave me time to go through my concerns. The best part of finding a skilled surgeon is finding one that you trust and has humanism. While my surgery is small compared to what others go through... nonetheless, large or small, it is a set back. I was scared and I wanted the same as everyone else. The best outcome. The staff are all amazing as well. All very kind to work with. Ms Phyllis has been very helpful in preparing all my medical documents. Thank you! I don't wish anyone to be sick. My mother presented both her Medicare and UnitedHealthcare cards. We were repeatedly told that Medicare was "not validating" and that it was not her primary insurance. I explained that Medicare was her primary insurance, but my concerns were dismissed. (There was a mixed up with my mom's supplemental insurance but I provided the policy number and the name, and of course apologized for the error). After requesting the office manager, the issue was ultimately resolved. What concerned me most was the lack of communication and empathy. While waiting for an answer, no one updated us. I had to return to the desk to ask what was happening, and the only response I received was, "Everything is fine." There was no explanation or apology. I also observed the receptionist ask a coworker whether she should ask someone for help. The coworker responded, "No." It appeared that staff were either uncomfortable asking questions or lacked the training needed to handle the situation. My mother had someone there to advocate for her. Many elderly patients come to appointments alone. I hope the physicians review the front office procedures, provide additional Medicare training if needed, and emphasize empathy and communication. A few minutes of patience and kindness can make a tremendous difference for patients and their families. The medical care itself was not the issue. My concern is with the front office experience and my hope that future patients are treated with greater professionalism, compassion, and respect.

He was local and received good reviews so decided to try him. He examined me and told me my left nostril was severely deviated and he recommended surgery. Not wanting surgery, I elected to try meds and spray which didn't do much. I had my annual physical with my doctor this Feb and while we were wrapping up, I told him I was considering septoplasty surgery however wanted to do a sleep study first. My Dr. looked into my left nostril and right away told me to get the septoplasty done asap. I met with Dr. Bliz again to schedule surgery. He told me he does surgery out of Metro South in Blue Island. I was really hoping it'd be at Palos Hospital or Silver Cross in New Lenox, but whatever. My surgery was the second week of March. First of all, I was all wrong on Metro South. The place was nice and clean and the nursing staff were super friendly. So that was awesome. Next, recovery. It sucked, period. One piece of advice, DO NOT bend over to pick up anything after septoplasty. If you do, blood will gush out of your nose. Yes, that happened to me just a few hours after surgery and my wife had to rush me to Bliz' office. Well, he stopped the bleeding and I went home that weekend and just laid on the couch, changing bandages every few hours. Dr. Bliz gave me his cell number and told me to text (I could barely talk) or have my wife call if we had any questions over the weekend. I texted him a few times with questions and concerns and he replied right away which I appreciated. After a few days I went back to him as he pulled out the crap in my nose and I was finally able to breath through my nose for the first time all weekend, however, my left nostril was still clogged. He told me that it would take 2-3 weeks before the swelling went down before I'd notice I can finally breath through my left nostril. Right around week 3, it happened. I could FINALLY breath through my left nostril. Dr. Bliz did what he said he'd do, fix my nose. Not only did he do a great job but he's super cool and friendly too, which matters to most civilized people. I will refer anyone I know who is looking for an Ears/Nose/Throat doctor to Dr. Bliz. He now has a patient for life with me, my family and my friends.

I went in for a simple sinus infection and was given a very invasive nasal endoscopy billed at $549.00 (which is described on my BCBS EOB as a surgery) with absolutely no discussion as to why or the cost prior to having it done. I question the PA and she simply said, it was their routine care, so be warned. Also, please note that as a new patient, I had just had one the previous year ( I agree to) to rule out any polyps for my post nasal drip, which resulted in no polyps or major issues. In my opinion this practice is mostly interested in over billing and increasing their profitability.
